I thought this place would be a great sushi option since their lunch all you can eat menu price was so reasonable, however, when I saw all their roles I knew why it's so cheap. They wrap an extra layer of rice to fill it and have so little meat and other stuff in there. Essentially they hope you get full off the rice. We opened up quite a few roles to find the same thing. See pictures for proof. Smh, so disappointed.

When I tell you, the ABSOLUTE WORST service experience I’ve ever had!! First, the staff made a fuss when two of us went back out to the car for a quickly after being seated, even though our friend was still at the table. Three different employees came up to us, and even though we came back within a couple minutes, they were still talking to us about it and saying that “ it’s to make sure people don’t run out on the bill“… we hadn’t even got our water let alone looked at the menu to place orders, so I’m not sure what the issue was. They would start clearing our plates even if we weren’t done eating it. Mind you I can’t really do much when she already has it in her hand before she’s even asked. The staff would kind of toss our food down on the table carelessly. I kid you not when I say the staff was shutting down the restaurant while we were still eating. Please keep in mind, all of this is happening at like 8:30pm and they close at 10pm. We were the last table, and even though it was only five minutes after 9. The staff were all standing around, watching us while we were finishing our meals. Around 9:15pm is when they legit TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS while we were still eating. I was honestly flabbergasted. Beyond rude, beyond unacceptable, honestly the worst dining experience I’ve had to date.

Excellent food & fast service! Sushi was fresh and amazing. Our all time favourites are miso soup, spicy crab salad, green dragon, salmon belly sushi, Salmon teriyaki, spicy crab rolls and ofcourse sashimi. Loved the variety of desserts, specially the banana tempura & green tea icecream. Definitely going back soon.

This place should change their closing times to an hour earlier than their actual closing time. We got there around 8.15 pm on a weekday and by 9 they were already mopping the floor (entire place smelled like bleach and ruined our appetite). Shortly after 9 they came around and asked if we’re ordering anything else and took our iPad away (we were forced to order dessert before we were done with our meal). Soy sauce was taken and the bill came shortly after. We understand that the kitchen closes early but from what we felt, they wanted us out by 9 when the closing time was 10. We only placed 2 orders and it wasn’t a lot of food. Food was okay but the servers pretty much throw it on the table and walk away before you even get a chance to say thank you. Definitely not the best experience here.

Modern interior and very fast efficient service when ordering. Decent selection of sushi items which I enjoyed. Some of the rolls were larger than I've seen or had before and some didn't appear to be wrapped tightly as they were falling apart. Despite the 2 negatives above, everything tasted good and we will return.

Honestly, in my opinion one of the best CHEAP AYCE Sushi places you can go to! But don't come here expecting fancy unique sushi though. My friends and I always have a great time comming here and enjoy their food. Their Sushi are usually basic and simple but they definitely hit the spot with your craving. Price wise and taste wise definitely a spot I recommend!

September 29, 2023 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We decided to pay a long-overdue visit to this sushi joint, and we were pleasantly surprised by the changes since our last stop. Notably, they had expanded their menu to cater to non-seafood eaters like me, which was a pleasant surprise given my newfound appreciation for sushi. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the restaurant had a welcoming and impeccably clean atmosphere. We opted for the all-you-can-eat option, and our orders arrived promptly. However, one minor hiccup was that the portions seemed larger, making it a bit tricky to gracefully devour a sushi roll in a single bite without it falling apart. Taste-wise, the sushi was on point. While it may not surpass our all-time favorite sushi spot, we left content with our decision to give this place another shot and plan on returning.

Came here for all you can eat. They had a simpler lunch menu for only 20 dollars which was very worth it. They more pricier menu has more options, check with your server. I really enjoyed the seared and torched sushi. We've almost tried everything on their menu. Reasonably priced and really good food.

Experience: We went for ayce lunch with our toddler and she had a good time. For some reason the iPad was set to order from the dinner menu, and some of the food had already come out. They corrected it for us and said whatever was already served is ok. Service was pretty fast, except near the end when some of the staff went on break. Food: The raw fish is always fresh here. The sushi and maki are generous sizes. Cost: Pricing for children are very fair. We noticed they have "lunch" and "big lunch" pricing, we inquired and was told the big lunch included additional selections but don't know what it they were specifically. We've previously ordered takeout and ate at home during covid.

I went today, July 18, 2021 to 1298 All You Can Eat Sushi for lunch Dine In, in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. The Sushi, Miso Soup, Shrimp Tempura, and ice cream was delicious!!! The price during the Stage 3 opening in Ontario, Canada was reasonable and still affordable at $21.99+TAX. I paid about $27 and change with tip for my delicious all you can eat Sushi Lunch which is still reasonable and affordable. I completely understand that prices have increased during this horrible Covid-19 pandemic crisis and I am glad that I can enjoy a delicious all you can Sushi lunch at an amazing Sushi Restaurant, and that I can support the restaurant industry and this wonderful restaurant, 1298 Sushi in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. An excellent choice for a lunch spot especially on weekends. Hand rolls are amazing here, General Tao and Beef Teriyaki also winner dishes. Spicy Crab Roll Sushi would be my favorite large roll by far. Soup was cold this time around, usually is always served hot, was probably a one off this time around.

This is easily one of the best all you can eat sushi spots in Durham, the options are endless, and the food is very high quality. I've never had an issues and I'll continue to go everytime I crave sushi.

Oh man, what a gem. Having not gone to an all you can eat in many years thanks to the pandemic, this place certainly hit the spot. Their service was impeccable-- friendly without being overbearing, but also very quick to clear the table and refill drinks. Booths are a good size And mostly importantly the food was great! Everything from rolls to Maki to sashimi: all super fresh & delicious. Will absolutely be going again when the opportunity arises. Pricing was very standard for an AYCE place. The Korean beef was by far my favourite, it was so flavorful! Definitely recommend checking them out!

Lots of option to try. Dine in option is all you can eat. Since I was in hurry I simply ordered one miso soup, 6 spicy salmon and two tempura and ended up paying $25 which I don’t think makes sense. Also the Sushi is filled with tempura crumbs and there is hardly any salmon in it. Disappointed with my experience specially the Sushi roll though the rest of the food was good.

The worst sushi I've ever had. Won't go back. The Tuna was very thick and dense. The salad was just lettuce, a slice of cucumber and a container of dressing. Been enjoying Japanese cuisine all my life and this was by far the sorriest example yet.

Honestly the sushi itself isn’t very bad, I think most people might actually enjoy it. However, several of the non sushi items that were served were either burnt, undercooked, or not up the par. The food itself was served quickly, but I’d be willing to accept longer wait times if it meant that I got served proper rice. Not only was the seasoning lacking or completely absent, but the rice itself tasted like it was microwaved on kitchen nightmares; crispy on the outside but very undercooked in the inside of it. It made me depressed to know that someone messed up on fried rice. The noodles were also under seasoned and yellow. Maybe that was a culinary choice, but it didn’t look very appealing. The caramel pudding was burnt somehow, and had a crisp warm and burnt flavour to it. The worst thing though by far, was that they had the audacity to charge TEN dollars for not finishing your food. So not only were we obligated to eat the food (because we ordered it), but we also had to pay additional money just because we didn’t want to finish it. 45 bucks that could’ve honestly went to a better place. Just order sushi and forget everything else

Dining at 1298 Sushi is a delight. Quick ordering is possible by using the gadget- tablet to access the menu list. Count a few seconds and your order is there. Nice ambiance and friendly staff they have there.

So good to be back inside a restaurant. The food was yummy except the tempura shrimp which is normally my favorite. I was so excited I stuffed my face silly. It was forty dollers for dinner which is a little pricey but after this pandemic it was just nice to be out.

Great place! It was our first time to this place. Very friendly staff. We could order all the items through iPad. They deliver the food items very quickly and nicely prepared.

Everything tastes great and I love how fast the food comes out! My most recent visit, there was one waitress that kept getting our order wrong and she didnt stop to answer our questions and completely ignored us. Other than that, good experience!

I’d give zero if I could. Completely mess up my order on skip the dishes. I call them. They say they will make good and ask for my number. Call them to get more food in addition to making good on my wrong order. They no longer have my number. Shady garbage people. They won’t respond to this which tells you everything. Gross and never again.

I am disgusted by the customer service at this restaurant. I recently went to pick up an order I had placed for myself using Uber. This is the first time I used Uber, I usually call in for my order. Due to a technical glitch on the restaurant's part, the order was coded as delivery, and it was characterized as a pickup on my phone - they could not see the Delivery number on my phone. They spent 20 minutes continuing to ask me what the delivery number was when I didn't have one. As I was walking out of the restaurant, I heard all the employees laughing at me. Completely unacceptable behaviour. I will not be buying from this restaurant again, which is a shame as my son loves their food and I have been a regular customer.

So nice to be back, one of my favourite places. I don’t know a better Salmon Rose in the area. Service is fast. Prices are up quite a bit but that seems standard at this stage in the pandemic.

This place wants to fill you up with rice. Their sushi pieces have mostly rice and very thin pieces of salmon/sushi. Your orders will not come with the amount you want. I ordered 10 salmon rose but instead got 2. Whatever order you make they will reduce it and give you less. Then, before paying the manager tells us that we ordered too much. But isn't this all you can eat sushi?? Treat your customers with more respect and change your restaurant to pay by the plate if you are going to give people less food and don't want them to order anything. Will never come back here

Amazing food! I have done dine in and take out here, and the food is always so tasty. For all the parents with strollers and plan to dine in, the walkways in the dining area are a bit tight, so you won't be able to bring your stroller right up to your table. We were asked to keep our stroller in the front area of the restaurant. It's probably best to just leave the stroller in the car.

The Atmosphere and overall design of the place is good, the food arrived quick! But the sushi was kinda hard and the chicken too but I'll give it 4 stars I recommend

Good food, lots of selection. Fast service however a couple of my items was forgotten so I had to ask twice for it to eventually come. Nonetheless still a good experience and recommended.

Excellent Sushi, and BBQ dishes. Great selection , even brown rice maki rolls as an option....We will come here instead of Sushi Mountain (Whitby) from now on!

I am very impressed with 1298, the quality of the food is great, everything was fresh and tasty. We ordered the Snow Spicy Roll and it was the star of the show, the rolls were so amazing. We got a bunch of appetizers like miso soup, fried cheese wontons (another winner), and coconut shrimp. The shrimp was good and crispy but it did lack the coconut flavour. Overall I was very impressed and will be back.

This is pretty much my favourite food experience to date. You don't just get one server. They all work together to get you whatever you want quickly and cleanup the leftovers as well. Very friendly and quiet which is perfect for when the food coma sets in. I highly recommend eating here and plan to do so regularly myself. The quality of the sushi and all of the food was perfect. Also unlimited ice cream with 5 different flavors for the kids mean we didn't have to rush at all. Bon appetite 😋

This AYCE starts at $21.99 and upgrade to Shasumi for $5 more (really just 2 kinds). The cooked food items are tasty and pretty average selection.
