Solid place for food. Basic breakfast. This particular day the service was pretty bad. Very nice staff though. Would come back.

Other than that yall did a fantastic job dishing out quality food and maintaining a steady rush. I'm a chef myself. And I see organization and professionalism. Well done! See you again.

Visited Sunset Grill from Breakfast, since I was in the area. Coffee was fresh, potatoes were tasty and eggs came out as requested. Pleasant experience and amazing customer service.

The quality of the food here has gone way downhill since I was here a year ago. Potatoes were dry and tasted like they’d been nuked. The pancakes were seriously horrible. Hard cardboard like on the outside, thin, and pasty on the inside. I sent them back and the second batch came back worse. Either the management doesn’t taste their own food, or they don’t know how good food is supposed to taste. Such a shame.

Just stopped in for the early bird, staff seemed great service was good coffee came around not as frequent as I’d like but not much of a wait either. They have an early bird special from Monday to Friday so stopped by for a simple breakfast. Unfortunately one of the worst sides with those potatoes that weren’t seasoned and felt half cooked, even the bread/toast seemed off, coffee was kind of weak as well, service was good so that helped, 3 ⭐️

Large location, never have to wait for a table. Typical staple breakfast options. Good service. Impressed they had Turkey bacon, however little to no fruit options on there menu. Pancakes were delicious. In a busy plaza, therefore parking lot can be a bit crazy.

New Years brunch with the family. We ordered the 8oz striploin steak $22.99 with 3 eggs any style served with potatoes and light rye toast. The steak was cooked properly medium rare and the eggs were sunny side up as per order. The potato hash served was not appealing and looked old and dry. I would have preferred the potato latkes or pancake style or these potato cubes. The servers seemed a bit overwhelmed with the volume of diners. They did their best to bring out the orders quickly. The coffee is bottomless here, and they refilled regularly for us. The breakfast menu has great variety to satisfy your hunger. Give them a try.

I would give zero stars if I could. They refused to “customize” my order - I asked for bread instead of a bun for my sandwich. Then I asked for full egg rather than egg white for my wrap. They refused both. Then a man who I assumed to be the owner came out and told me absolutely not could they customize my order. He was quite rude. rude. He refused to explain why and then literally ran off. So I did not eat. He does not appear to care at all about customers or providing proper customer service. Oh ya and the eggs Benedict has fried eggs (they won’t do poached). Will never go back.

What a great way to break the pandemic blues. Breakfast on a beautiful morning. The food was great and our server was super attentive and friendly despite being on her own.

Was pleasantly surprised at the breakfast here today. If you want straight up satisfying bacon and eggs with great coffee, this restaurant is a good option. Both the white and dark rye toast were delicious as well. Our server kept our coffee cups filled, and was very accommodating when we asked to move to a window table as some of the tables are a bit close together for private conversations. Wish I had come here instead of the Perkins restaurant for breakfast- it was way better. I only wish they opened up the whole restaurant, because it would have spaced people out for a better, less cramped experience- they only seated people in one section today. Overall I look forward to coming back to Sunset Grill for a consistently good breakfast.

Food is good. Potatoes are ALWAYS way too salty to the point of inedible. Service is great. Recently had Daniele as my server. She was Polite and fast. Checked for coffee refills. Very nice experience.

REPLY to your comment - I did ask my server and he also agreed it was not a complicated ask. I went to another Sunset Grill and they easily did it with one simple ask. It's not the halal you should focus on, we have people with multiple dietary request that are very simple this location should learn to support our beautiful diverse communities. ‐------------------------- This place is NOT HALAL - they mix the meat oil (PORK) with the non meat items. Not all locations only this one that I know of, the others will cook separately with a simple ask. They should understand & respect the requirements of the many diverse communities. Go to the Kingston Road location (Scarborough) they will easily accommodate you.

Visited this Sunset Grill location for brunch with my family and had an incredibly disappointing experience. The familiar diner-style layout was welcoming, but the problems started with a 5-minute wait to be seated, followed by another 5 minutes to place a drink order. Our server, while friendly, forgot our drink order immediately. The real letdown, however, was the agonizingly long wait of over an hour for our food. The kitchen staff seemed extremely slow or maybe short staffed. When the food finally arrived, the Eggs Benedict turned out to be sunny-side-up eggs with hollandaise sauce, not poached eggs as expected. The Three Eggs with Pancakes was the only redeeming choice. Overall, a frustrating and disappointing experience at this Sunset Grill location. Exercise caution if considering a visit.

Terrible portion size, eggs cooked wrong(suppose to be over med not hard) couldn’t even add the chocolate chips into my pancake sent on the side and came melted. Expensive and not worth it

During this pandemic, with numbers increasing, one of the people working in the kitchen were not wearing a mask and waiters were not wearing their masks properly. This is extremely unsafe and unsanitary.

The worst potatoes. They don't know how to cook hashbrowns. They are raw. I asked for well done. Brunt on the outside and raw I'm the middle.

Came here for the first time with a friend. My order was as expected. I enjoyed the food. It was great that they had gluten-free bread, and sourdough bread (although sourdough bread was with soup dish only.) I ordered scrambled eggs, gluten-free toast and home fries with green tea. Home fries were a little dry, but I was hungry so I ate it all. Good price too, under $13. I would suggest that the management offer oat milk (or any alternative dairy option) for tea/coffee. I couldn’t have my usual orange pekoe, had to have herbal tea. The tables were a too close. No room to put my coat and purse behind my chair without it touching the coat of the customer sitting behind me. Server was busy, but got me everything I asked for. I will definitely be coming again.

It’s a beautiful place to begin your day with and have some delicious breakfast. My wife and I have been going there for 6 years now and it’s our favourite restaurant. Employees are always friendly and attentive. Sunset Grill, ambient environment - tasty morsels 🇦🇫🍁🇨🇦

I have read some of these reviews and am not surprised.. My lady and I stopped going a few months ago because we fell ill due to the potatoes being undercooked. When we had breakfast for the last time there, I asked the server specifically to cook the taters crispy which is how I prefer them, which he basically refused saying that how they are cooked is the standard. Even when I pointed out that the standard made us sick, still refused.. So in the end, won't be going back, and I pray the place gets shut down.. CUE THE OWNER COMING TO THE RESTAURANTS DEFENSE

The service here is so admirable. Very friendly service and wait time is minimal. Food proportion is excellent. Love the location of this place with the natural sunlight coming in. Thank you!

Best breakfast! The Pancakes are my favourite! Can get busy but the cooks are very quick at preparing the meals! :)

Compared to the last time I was here, there are big changes. I doubted the store was under new management and I was correct. The service is still great, the quality of the food is much better now. Great value great service. Highly recommended and will be back for sure!

Nice little spot. Took our baby there for her first sit-down restaurant meal. A great place to do that, as we weren't too concerned about bothering people, as the atmosphere is friendly and active. The staff were accommodating and didn't make us feel rushed. Your coffee cup is never empty.

Couldn’t take a simple order and brought the wrong food. After much delay proper order comes. Still over charged at the till for the mistaken order. Not worth arguing over a few bucks but won’t be returning.

Thishh be is the place is the little engine that could. It’s managed to survive COVID and staff turnovers. It’s friendly, clean, warm and consistent. It’s the standard sunset grill menu. An easy date choice when you don’t feel like cooking on a Sunday morning.

This is the second Sunset Grill we enjoyed the first one that we visited in Kennedy Commons. Same good quality food but this place is more spacious. Great place for a late breakfast or even early breakfast. They have options for no carb diets. The pancakes are moist and fluffy. The taters are well cooked and tasty. And the grapefruit might freshly squeezed I think at least it tastes that way. We would certainly go back again. The prices are reasonable. They even have a $4.99 breakfast before 11am.

Ordered scrambled eggs. I never order scrambled eggs when I eat out. It was dry. I am not sure if that makes sense it had the fluff but probably the reason why I don’t order scrambled eggs.

I went to this Sunset Grill location in Pickering today with some friends I had not seen in a long time. Our experience was horrible, to say the least. To begin with, the biggest issue was the fact that the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. The temperature conditions should have been grounds for the restaurant to be closed, as we could not even enjoy our meals due to this. The heat levels in the restaurant caused moisture on the floors causing them to be slippery and one of my friends almost fell. The waiters did not even acknowledge this inconvenience and nothing was said or done about the issue. Furthermore, to our dismay, the quality of our meals disappointed us even further. The food did not look like Sunset Grill quality that I’ve eaten in the past and the breakfast potatoes were dry and undercooked. When we complained about this issue, our waiter brought us 2 carrot and cucumber sticks as a substitute. Considering their prices for meals, I believe that this was unacceptable and not justifiable. Overall this restaurant really needs to step up their game with food quality and eating conditions. Understaffing may have been the cause of the very poor service we received. I would not recommend this location to anyone and most definitely will not be dining here in the future. All other locations that I have visited across GTA have proven to be a lot better and provided top notch service and food quality.

Went there last week, and the place was packed. Could do with more staff as there were only two servers on that shift and they were scrambling to ensure food orders, payments and deliveries were on time. Even then, the food and service did not disappoint. We had the meatlovers omelette with rye toast and a side of breakfast sausages. Will be visiting again soon.

French toast and turkey bacon. Average , salmon eggs Benny , too salty , not made with no love had to scrape off the soggy potatoes on the side , definitely a place that needs help.

A Great Breakfast Was Had Here! I was craving a restaurant experience and they didn't let me down... just a solid breakfast of eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and coffee. The servers were very good and made sure to collect all the COVID info beforehand. I was impressed all around actually. Thanks for the satisfying experience 🙂

The low rating of this place is not justified. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the food is excellent. Coming here was such a great experience.

Rude asian staff member behind the counter. Speaks loudly and sounded very irritated when asking me what I ordered. He was rude and should not be speaking to paying customers with a rude tone. I waited for my order. I live 3 minutes away, and when I got home the eggs were over-cooked and the hashbrowns were already cold. The food did not look appealing. I will not be returning to this location for these reasons. That asianan should be fired for his rude behavior, not only to customers, but to specific staff mbers of colour .
