One of the best places I have been in 'Paris'. As an architecture lover I enjoyed this place not just because of the villa itself but also because of the calm environment, possibility to chill on the grass and just look at the villa. I did a little photoshoot there as well. Definitely recommended!

Great experience of iconic architecture. However the place seemed to be not looked after very well. Plus there wasn't any original Corb's furniture inside which was a downside. But overall a great experience. It's outside of the city, and a bit of a walk from the train station. Free entry for Europeans under 26, otherwise a 9 euro entry if I remember correctly. Also great info stands about russian constructivism outside .

A worthwhile trip to the suburbs of Paris if you appreciate modern architecture and especially the style of Le Corbusier. The house itself isn’t large and can be visited in under half an hour, but make sure to sit outside for a bit to admire the exterior too. It’s surrounded by a lot of greenery and plenty of trees that barricade it from the outside world.

Words feel short to describe the feeling when you come across the humble built form of Villa Savoye designed by legendary french architect Le Corbusier. It has so many interesting spaces and elements to see and understand which creates a drama to the viewer.

Wonderful architectural house, it’s one architectural icon. However, they should do a better job at maintaining it. It’s such a beautiful house but it looks decrepit and like it’s falling apart. Getting here is quite a journey: train ride and then take the cab or the bus. The grounds of the house are large and the house is very nice but wished they’d maintain it better.

Villa Savoye is a masterpiece of modern architecture, designed by Le Corbusier in the 1920s. This iconic building is a must-visit for anyone interested in architecture and design. The villa is situated in Poissy, about 30 kilometers from Paris. To reach the villa, you can take a train from Paris to Poissy, and then a bus or taxi to the site. The villa is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm. The building itself is a stunning example of modernist architecture, characterized by its clean lines, geometric shapes, and emphasis on function and efficiency. The design of the villa is based on Le Corbusier's "Five Points of a New Architecture," which includes features such as pilotis, a roof garden, and an open floor plan. Walking through the villa, you can see the way in which Le Corbusier's design principles have been executed in every aspect of the building, from the way in which light enters the space to the use of materials and colors. I would highly recommend a visit to Villa Savoye for anyone interested in modern architecture and design. It's a truly unique and inspiring experience that is not to be missed.

Fabulous piece of architecture! I’ve wanted to see this place for years and finally got here. Arrived in the afternoon, bit too hot inside on a sunny day but well worth persevering for the fantastic architecture. We were lucky enough to be arriving a few minutes before an English speaking tour started. We watched an introductory video in the garage area and then were shown around by a superb guide called Thomas. He was excellent and knew the place inside out. This made the visit so much richer. I always loved this place, not because I’m an architecture connoisseur, but just because I think it looks cool. Now I appreciate it so much more after Thomas’ tour. 5* all the way, totally recommended.

A hidden gem outside Paris city center. It is truly a magnificent monument designed by Le Corbusier. Accessible using bus at more or less 1.5 hrs from the Paris City Center. The 2 lady curators in this monument when I visited were very nice. If you are an architecture lover, you should not miss visiting this when you travel to Paris.

Well, It was my personal pilgrimage to the roots of the modern architecture. Villa Savoy should be a obligatory place for most of the architects and architectural students. Building, its placement and form is just incredible up to date, despite its age (91 years). It was really personal experience. I would recommend that you plan your trip right after opening, so you'll have some quality time with this incredible piece of architecture. Through this building Le Corbusier is still alive. That you can be 100% sure.

Because of a guide with a loud voice in a small building, every floor, every room, we had to hear his voice. I wanted to run away from his voice, but it sounded like talking right next to my ear. I felt that Le Corbusier's biggest mistake was that he didn't care about soundproofing. He's showing off his smartness like a college professor giving a lecture in a grand hall, but the students' don't seem interested. I doubt he's the official guide. If you're a professional guide, please respect the audience you're watching with. This isn't your own workplace. Of course the architecture was excellent.

Short guide in English or there is an audio if you want more detail. Amazing to see the new way of thinking about architecture, especially when you see the videos of what life and style was like outside of the house. To build a structure that still looks so boldly modern, at the time it was constructed, is extremely impressive and definitely worth visiting.

Even if it means having an experience with this architect, you might as well do it thoroughly and spend a night or two at the convent of La Tourette, which makes perfect sense. A must for architecture buffs, the iconic Villa Savoye is one of the most famous examples of modern / international style, certainly Le Corbusier’s most famous house project. It’s well worth the trip, to explore the building inside out, it was restored some years ago and now it looks great.

Just a few kilometers from Paris, in Poissy, a not very large commune, there is Villa Savoye, imprinting in concrete the principles of modernism for many decades. This work by the Swiss architect Le Corbusier brings together the five fundamental principles of modern European architecture or what was later called the "international style", principles enunciated by the very author of this manifesto building, made between 1928-1931. Although it served as a permanent home for the Savoye family until 1940 – when, due to the war, the family left their home, which was occupied twice during the fighting – the house was not without its problems. What would form the basis of our contemporary architecture in the early 1920s could not be applied with the same accuracy and certainty that we have today. Thus, a series of problems regarding water infiltrations led to countless complaints from the beneficiaries. Dubbed "the father of modern architecture", Le Corbusier enunciated the five principles by which he guided his works and which can be found in their entirety at the Villa Savoye: - House raised on stilts - The terrace roof - The free plan - The long horizontal windows - The facades with free design His preoccupation with providing suitable constructions for the "new man", guided by rational principles and similar activities, strips architecture of mystical or "uplifting" symbols to make room for concrete gestures, beautiful in their simplicity, sincerity and indubitability. In this endeavor, Le Corbusier carried out various studies in which he calculated the standard size of furniture, which he often called "equipment", and promoted the idea of mass manufacturing it. Among his most famous pieces of furniture are the armchair in black leather and metal structure or the chaise lounge for indoor use in the same style. Most of the pieces of furniture signed by the architect were made of metal structure and black leather, being elegant without decorations. These aspects would have been essential at the time for the products to be mass-produced.

An amazing place even for people who are far from architecture. I strictly recommend you to take a guided tour: all the functionality of the house gets much more clear. The tiny regrets for me are (1) almost no furniture & (2) urban landscape, that's why you are supposed to have a very good imagination to see how the place looked back in 1931...

Superb architecture by Le Corbusier in a once-pastoral, now urban setting. Wonderfully practical house with a lovely view over the Seine valley. Don't be surprised, the address takes you to a Lycée (high school); there's a metal grilled gate to the far right of the property! One of my favourite visits in a while.

It closes at 5 pm so the last entry slot is scheduled at 4 pm (but I recommend arriving at 3 pm to fully and safely enjoy the visit). For children under 25, admission is free (with proof). Inside the garden there are a total of two bâtiment: the main villa is the caretaker's house designed by the same architect in the same way as for the villa. Per i minori di 25 anni l'ingresso è gratuito (dietro giustificativo). All'interno del giardino sono presenti un totale due bâtiment : la villa principale è la casa del custode progettata dallo stesso architetto con le stesse modalità previste per la villa.
