I
stayed
at
A1
Apartments
for
6
days
in
September
2018.
It
was
the
middle
of
a
heatwave
but
their
aircons
were
ice-cold.
Room
was
sufficient
-
kept
clean.
I
had
a
double-bed
studio.
It
has
a
kitchenette
with
microwave,
2-plate
gas
hob,
utensils
and
crockery,
though
for
a
week
in
Aruba
you're
really
only
going
to
use
their
fridge-freezer!
It's
a
short
walk
from
the
Yu
Xia
supermarket
(tip
for
visitors,
the
supermarkets
are
very
expensive
on
the
island)
and
the
beginning
of
Downtown
(the
tourist
area
of
Oranjestad).
Security
is
good;
they
have
burglar
bars,
pedestrian
gate
and
main
gate.
They
said
it
is
more
for
decoration,
though
being
in
crime-infested
South
Africa
I'm
quite
used
to
the
setup.
(security
in
Aruba
is
not
really
a
problem
as
such
for
now)
The
landlord
and
landlady
were
very
friendly
indeed.
On
my
first
morning
I
went
to
the
lady
to
ask
what
the
time
was
(as
my
phone
had
broken
that
night)
and
she
made
me
breakfast!
They
also
do
shuttles
to
and
from
the
airport.
First
day
they
took
me
to
the
cellphone
shop
to
sort
my
broken
phone
out,
for
free.
Otherwise
the
shuttle
service
is
US$
20
one-way,
irrespective
how
many
go
in
the
minibus.
The
apartments
are
on
a
one-way-street
system
just
off
the
main
area,
so
it
is
nice
and
peaceful.
From
the
communal
balcony
I
could
see
the
cruiseliners
arrive
at
the
harbour
in
the
distance.
I
was
a
bit
unfortunate
with
the
shower
though,
as
the
water
was
leaking
into
the
unit
below.
They
instantly
told
me
and
gave
me
access
to
the
(vacant)
second
room
as
well
so
I
always
had
a
shower
available.
Note,
there
is
no
hot-cold
on
the
taps,
just
on/off
-
but
in
Aruba
you
don't
need
a
hot
tap
as
it's
always
hot
over
there!
So
the
lukewarm
water
for
the
shower
is
perfect
-
not
too
cold,
not
warm.
I
really
enjoyed
the
stay
here.
If
you're
on
a
budget,
this
is
a
really
good
option
to
choose.
Extra
-
if
you
stay
here,
consider
eating
to
the
Yanti's
Restaurant
which
is
Surinamese
food.
The
portions
were
huge
and
the
price
was
good
for
Aruba
standards.
