It's not that I don't like the authentic sense of the place, but it felt like a money making machine. Once you get in, you are assaulted by the waiters proposing drinks even before we have settled down at the table... As if every second of our time there must generate an income for them. I personally prefer to have a look at the menu first. But, maybe it's just the way they want it to be. We took an offered local beer and ordered a cheese plate, which cost us almost as much as full meal in some other restaurants. The beer was OK, but the service was too overwhelming for my taste. And the place felt too crowded... Especially in covid-19 times it feels uncomfortable... We prefer to keep some distance from others while we eat... Not elbowing our neighbors while sipping the beer...

Tourist trap . The black and white beers are just about ok. Tried beef goulash and pork knuckle.Very average . The knuckle wasn't crispy. They servers keeps on bringing some warm alcohol on tables to raise the bill. Also they encourage you to order more saying kitchen will close in 10 minutes.

At the end we had a mixed feeling with this place. Food and beer is great but the service is really pushing you to drink as much as possible (especially the shots at the beginning which barely have any alcohol) and at the end it seems like they try to get the most out of the tourists. If you aren't aware they will just sum up some random number on a calculator and tos in an exceptional tip and you also won't receive a receipt. Wouldn't recommend it to tourists but great for locals.

The place is worth visiting solely for the authentic environment. We really liked the accordion player and the look of the rooms, and the dark beer was very good. The service is very unfriendly and the staff shoving drinks nonstop even before you take a look at the menu (the player was very nice though). Prices are high even for the beer. It's a place for one time visit and that's all.

Oldest beer brewery. Their dark beer is quite good. And as other reviews say, they do offer you shots the moment when you sit down and be aware that you have to pay quite some money for it. But my boyfriend says the shots are quite nice though. The food is average. Tried different kinds of dumplings and the potato dumplings are my favorite. It has sort of a gnocchi texture. The roasted duck leg is delicious.

The last time I was here was 4 years ago, and since then the quality of the place has deteriorated a lot. Mostly the service was incomprehensible to me. They kept forcing drinks on us, and if we didn't ask for them, they walked away visibly offended. The food became unremarkable and it felt like it came on an assembly line. The food design is very poor. I don't know what kind of chef would let a dish like this out of their hands. Value for money makes it not worth it.

Authenticity of this place skyrockets! Delicious local food, outstanding beer and live folk music make it all play perfectly together. Apart from being a restaurant, U Flekú is also a brewery that provides tours. Be prepared to get “forced” drinking beer and liquors, but you can always say NO. No pressure.

Probably the best culinary & cultural experience we had in Prague during a weekend-long stay with friends. You can reserve a table and eat outdoors in the garden, if weather allows. The setup gave the impression we ended up in a local market/fair. It was lovely! And the live music made it such a fun night. The musicians walk around and entertain the guests. The staff was extremely friendly as well! And last but not least the food: DELICIOUS! The duck with potato dumplings and red cabbage was amazing. We enjoyed every single dish! High quality ingredients, cooked with passion to show the best of the Czech cuisine. Not to mention the beer and the "aperitif" welcome drinks: you can't miss them out. A must-have experience when visiting Prague.

Amazing food and a great atmosphere! U Fleků is probably one of the best places to get Czech food in Prague. They have a fun traditional atmosphere. In the evening they usually have live music and waiters walking around with trays of drinks available for you to take whenever you want. They have various shots of alcohol on the trays as well for you to try. I highly recommend the pork knee or the duck. Both are excellent and of course the beer is great as well. I definitely recommend this as a must go if you visit Prague!

We cannot recommend this place enough!! After an average meal elsewhere last night and being 'foodies' our experience here left us feeling like our trip had been fulfilled. We ordered quite a few things to try and we couldn't fault any of it. The service was just as impeccable as the food and the only thing this restaurant is missing is a michelin star. My boyfriends comment when we left was 'I'd happily pay the flight here again just to be able to try everything else I didn't get to' (coming from a chef himself!) Absolutely delightful. Well done to you all.

Everything about this place is great. It's right in the middle of the old town (you can walk in there pretty fast). The beers are tasty and refreshing (they have their local craft), the food portions are big enough and everything tastes amazing! I really like the old pub atmosphere. The logistics are also good: waiters are walking around with beer pints and will immediately bring you one when asked to. They also go around tables, so no need to worry. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a fun and authentic experience.

Favorite place in Prague!!! I had a Spicy Pickled Cheese as appetizer and Beef Cream served with Dumpling Bread as the main course. I can‘t lie they both were really tasty! It was my first time trying Eastern Europe food and I loved it! They also served such a good beer, I live in Germany for almost 3 years now and I could tell they really have a good quality beer. I recommend u to come here while u r in Prague.

Authentic Food. Pork fry with Czech beer. Festive ambience by Piano Bros. Awesome experience. Never miss. Walkable from Charles Bridge. Take a look at our menu offering Old Bohemian specialties and classical Czech dishes. We recommend to wash the food down with our 13° U Fleků dark lager. The U Fleků dark lager is brewed using purely natural ingredients – water, hops, yeast and four kinds of barley malt. We use no artificial colours and preservatives. Address Brewery and restaurant U Fleků Křemencova 11 Praha 1 110 00 You can taste this beer only in our restaurant. The daily consumption is about 2000 glasses of beer as the restaurant U Fleků is the largest in the whole country. Our guests, including celebrities, athletes and businessmen, come from all over the world. A wall in the garden is decorated with two cannon balls, a reminder of the Thirty Years‘ War. The brewery celebrated its 515th anniversary in 2014. The brewery celebrates its 520th anniversary this year.

Really traditional place, its like inside a little castle. I went to the outside place for dinner, there are large tables so you eat like old times. There are staffs walking around with beers and wine. Very cozy place. The only thing is the staff don't have much patience with tourist, i asked in English what type of little shots of alcohol they were serving and the staff did not understand me and he just left rudely. But beside that the food is really delicious, the goulash 10/10 and the cheesecake 10/10.

Nice Czech food, and great beer. The beer garden looks really nice, shaded by the trees. There was live music playing during our visit too. The staff is very friendly when you get a chance to talk to them. You should definitely try their goulash dish with black beer.

Great atmosphere sitting at benches among locals or other tourists. The food was delicious, the beer great, and the honey wine was outstanding. An easy recommendation from me.

The atmosphere can’t be beat. Bar hall feeling with long tables under the shade of the trees and an accordion playing. It is a beautiful place. I had the goulash because I was craving it and a Google search said it would be one of the best in the city but it did not measure up to what I had at the Golden Tiger. (Price much higher too for both the food and beer) Come for the atmosphere and a nice cold beer.

Stumbled across this on a wet Saturday afternoon in August and had a great time. We were quickly seated by staff in a big hall. Traditional Czech pub from 1499 felt very authentic and atmosphere was great with live music provided via a tuba and accordion. Excellent beer is CZK 79 and offered frequently by servers who rotate the floors with trays full of the stuff. Did not try the food but the traditional Czech options look to be on offer.

It is a must! The food is very tasteful and delicious. I loved the yellow gravy and the dumplings. The beer and the Medovina shot is the best in Prague, it is not like the other ones. The menu has different options but not to much, which is good to pic the best ones. The location is typical Czech and is was always warm. The down side is the service. Nobody is looking after you and sometime the waiters were kind of rude. But that being said it still highly recommended place

Felt like an authentic beer hall. Accordionists played and the vibe was so cheerful many people started singing loudly. Beer and shots were served on trays. Delicious Czech food. Memorable experience!!

Large and traditional, similar to Bavarian breweries, with several halls and a wooded courtyard. Fast service, the place’s own brown beer is tapped. In the yard, a two-piece band played live sramli music. (Tango accordion and horn.) The originality of the court facades is questionable, as is the exact ability of the head waiter to account.

Interesting parallel the system that dimsum restaurants in Asia used in the past where the waiters brought a selection of beers and shots to the tables and makes a mark on the tab - a piece of paper- when diners take them. : ) Pork schnitzel was delicious with a thicker piece of pork loin than usual.

Honestly an amazing experience. Pork knuckle was 10/10 and goulash wasn't far behind. Great atmosphere and really nice dark beer too. A little expensive but totally worth it!

U Flekû, a must during your visit at Prague. Feel the ambience, gastronomy and beer of this country. Regarding food try to goulash and any of the sausages, drink a dark beer or three, as we did. The service is fast but it is important to decide what to have quickly since the waiters are rushing. A solid 5/5.

At U Fleku, the historic ambiance in Prague is truly special. It's a glimpse into the past, creating a unique dining experience. While the traditional setting is charming, the food might not suit everyone's taste. Service was decent, allowing us to enjoy the restaurant's intriguing atmosphere."

Very cool Czech restaurant! Went on a Thursday night a around 9pm without a reservation and only waited around 10-15min to be seated (although there were around 10 people in front of us when we arrived). The restaurant feels very authentic and warm. There is live music, animation and the servers are friendly. You will not regret trying it out. Food on the picture are the pork schnitzel and the Fleck’s treat.

One of the most reviewed restaurants serving Czech food and yet my least favorite out of the many that I tried. I was disappointed with my duck confit and my friend’s goulash was also below average. The meat was over cooked, the dumplings were okay, there was very little gravy/sauce, but prices are higher than elsewhere. But it seems to be appreciated by the many tourists that come here, possibly because they have a very nice outdoor area, but I’d rather have Czech food elsewhere.

Crowded place with traditional beer and music! Definitely worth it when you are in Prague. Traditional cuisine, fabulous atmosphere. Book a table in advance.

This traditional beer garden is a nice experience. They offer all the traditional Czech pub dishes, cooked very well and tasty. I am not a fan of their draft beer - the dark one tasted nice but was good for someone who enjoys a watery, not much carbonated beer. Whereas the pilsner was too fruity and citrus-like without any bitterness and again lacked good carbonization. I had much more enjoyable beers in Prague. But everyone else seemed to enjoy it.

That was the most authentic eating-out experience I've ever had. Drinking-out experience, to be more exact. The only thing you order here is food. Drinks just float by in a never-ending stream of huge trays carried by waiters (men only) who offer you just two kinds of beer (dark and light lagers, both unfiltered, unpasteurized and brewed at the place) and two kinds of strong bitter local drinks. But that will suffice to have a good evening and you will likely ignore everything else they have on the menu drink-wise. The waiters deserve a separate review. They put a small piece of paper on your table and take notes of things you ordered so as not to memorize or write down everything for each guest. And this is not a show off, because our room alone, or better to say chamber, could contain around 200 people. And that is not the only room of the place. The scribbles reminded me of interpreting notes commonly used by consecutive interpreters to memorize big chunks of speech. Two guys, trumpet and accordion, played folk music and all that authenticity happens in a basement of an old building with vaulted ceilings. There is even a cabaret stage, but we didn't catch the entertainment. A must when in Prague.

This place is completely different than what could you expect. The atmosphere with all the people singing, laughing and talking is wonderfully pleasent. The staff is always ready to take your order or serve you with beer or with some shots including one of these that I preferred and renamed "liquid gold". The food is fine and nothing very special, but it's not a place where you come just to eat something. Overall it was a great experience, especially because it's unusual to find this ancient restaurant in the cities. The total price was reasonable and the staff is very kind. Absolutely recommended!

Very good Czech food. I got the goulash which was good but then I tried my partners pork with cabbage and that was amazing. Specially the purple cabbage. Whatever they flavored that with was just amazing. We dipped the bread in it. Also the bread dumplings that come with it come in 2 variants. 1 was more dense and had flavoring that reminded me of stuffing. The other was a lighter plain white but both are good. I got a cappuccino which is fine and the dark beer was fine. Then this guy walked around with shots and made us feel like we couldn't say no (which we did twice), but luckily he was persistent because the honey shot was amazing!!! Best plain shot I've ever had (I normally do mixed drinks). I'd buy a bottle if I knew what it was. The total was just over 800 crowns, a bit more than expecting. Plus I asked if we should tip and I don't think you had to buy of course he did accept, I would to. I do recommend

An unique restaurant experience with Oktoberfest vibes. If you're on an outgoing mood this will fit you perfectly. The dark beer is great and you'll enjoy it even if you don't normally prefer darker beers If you don't want more drinks you have to respond immediately to the waiters. Definitely an experience worth trying out but I wouldn't say its a place you'd revisit often

The oldest continuously brewing craft brewery in Czech. Their dark special beer is great and definitely worth to try it. The unique atmosphere and genius loci of this place enchants you. I always try to get there when I’m in Prague.

A 'must do' in Prague, but don't just pop in for a beer. Stay a while and try the food too! There's great atmosphere with locals and tourists all calling in. The beer is superb, and if the musicians are in, its great fun!!! Highly recommended.

  • 5/5 Goran 2 years ago on Google
Very nice place to see, decorated as expected for the brewery, with traditional Czech cuisine and its own draft dark beer. Very fast service, often crowded, especially in the courtyard. Sitting in the yard on wooden chairs, in the shade of trees, eating a pork knuckle, drinking dark beer, listening to Czech music ... what a beautiful experience. Interesting fact: Croatian football club Hajduk was founded here by Croatian students who studied at the University of Prague in 1911.

Excellent! Servers do the rounds with beers and liquors to keep em flowing which is great. The dark beer is really good and so is the honey-based shot. Highly recommended. The servers are also genuinely nice!

Lovely place :) The service is fast and everyone moves around with their own task, a bit confusing in the beginning but then you get the idea. The food and beer is tasty! There was even live music, very pleasant.
