Very touristy, food is just okay, so having food can be avoided. Good for having couple of beers at town square with view. Friendly service and average service. Price bs food quality inadequate.

We came here with our tour guide. Our guide told us this place has the traditional Czech food, but it’s deceiving because the restaurant is on the touristy area of Old Town Square where prices can be overpriced. But not this place! This place did not disappoint! This is the only bar in the area of Prague that serves half and half beer which makes it a unique experience and the traditional beef goulash is absolutely delicious. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. Our guide had the fried cheese and schnitzel and she told us that is what she orders everytime. Try this place!

Great location right in the main square. However, you definitely pay a price for being in a high tourist area as it was quite abit more expensive than others. However, I really enjoyed my food and they were very accommodating when I asked for my burger to be well done. The service was very slow but they were busy. It's awkward when paying as your asked if you want to add a service charge for the staff, which we normally would have but it didn't feel right on this occasion due to service! Being asked seems to be the norm in the places we ate in Prague.

Very good food I don’t understand why this restaurant has only 3.5 stars Everything was tasty and fresh Beautiful view if you are sitting outside I think it’s definitely worth it to try a specialty goulash!!! I hope they will get more stars because it’s really worth it more then 3.5 Hope to be back again

This is, and remains, the worst experience in Prague in the days I/we have been here. In general, my friends and I are more than generous with our money and good mood, but this does with our experience here. Besides the poor service – an arrogant waiter with bad mood who talked condescending us, we had to be made aware many times that we had to give a tip and that “Service is not included in the prices”. It is on the menu, at the entrance and the waiter who said so when we had to pay. Here we chose to give 15% - already a generous trip in Prague, but the waiter chose to add another 1% to the tip, which we didn’t notice before we had payed. Which isn’t a lot, but when we already chose not to tip (Since our idea of a tip is from good service), it was kind of too much for us. We can’t recommend to go here. (Kind of just seems like a tourist scam).

My review is coming a little late... We were in Prague last May. And, we passed in front of this restaurant, every single day and I thought "what a touristic place, I would not eat here". I usually try to find small places that locals may go. Then, the last evening we were there, we sat down for drinks. Jirka was our server. He had an interesting way of serving tables. He was sarcastic and also charming. We decided to order food. We had the Old Town Saber, Old-Bohemian Country Platter, Wiener-Style Pork Schnitzel. And my goodness, I am glad we did. It was an absolutely wonderful meal and experience.

Only stopped in for the drinks, but wish I stayed for some food because the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked delicious! Plenty of seating. Service was ok. Wasn’t too busy but had to stop a waiter to request another round of drinks after waiting a few minutes. Beers were delicious and a shot of the local liquor was a nice pairing. Menu is vast with many options to choose from. Overall a great experience that the tourist must check out!

Great spot in the heart of the town square. Dishes are very filling and portions are large, unfortunately I couldn’t finish my dish since I was so full but it was delicious.

The restaurant from the outside looks appealing. The menu looks good but, the actual meals when served are below average. Every country has its culinary gems. Unfortunately, this restaurant seems to have foregone the approach of serving good food and uses the restaurant's location as a means to overcharge for simple meals that do not taste authentic. The inside of the restaurant is nice but the waiters do not clear the table plates to the back of the restaurant. The waiters gather the plates within the main area close to tables where patrons eat their meal to be cleared afterwards. European countries include service fees in the meal. That said, the Czech Republic suggests giving a tip if the service excelled. In the case of the current restaurant, the service was standard and left a bit to desire. The waiter indicated to give a tip. When indicating that service is included in the meal cost in European countries, the waiter continued to indicate that they are paid little and to give a tip. After two declines to give a tip, the waiter continued. Giving the tip at this point was less for the service and more for feeling sorry for the team working at the restaurant which should not be the case especially that the meal itself was overpriced for what it was. This culinary experience was overall disappointing. Therefore, the restaurant is not recommended.

Had dinner here on my first night in Prague. Tried the traditional beef goulash with a Pilsner Urqell. Tasty and reasonably priced dinner!

Skip it! There are much better options nearby! We made the mistake of having our first lunch in Prague there. We wanted to try traditional food. Some dishes were too salty, poultry was super dry. Lesson learned, from then on we never entered a restaurant in Prague without checking reviews (or filtering for 4 stars or more). Of course, we had much better traditional food the next day.

I will always have Prague in my heart just because I ate the best food ever at this place. I can’t even describe how tasty my plate was.

Good and prompt Service, we had minimum 3 staff members attending us in our 45 mins dining experience during lunch time. Food was good to the taste and quantity was good enough per person. We had the classic Penne Pasta arbiarrata, mohito and cappuccino. Prime location and nice ambience with enough heating to keep you warm while dining outdoors. Cashless and cash paymensts accepted. Overall a very good experience.

While I was sitting with my husband under the statue of this place tonight, suddenly the bald and bearded employee working in the place came and started shouting at us in public because a drop or two of ice cream fell on the floor. His movements were very nervous and strange. It looked like he would attack if we countered. He took a tour with the statue's angry demeanor. We couldn't understand. There was nothing wrong we did. We had nothing to do with the place, we were quite far away. We did not dirty any place and we even wiped the ice cream stain that we dropped on the floor when we got up. We were planning to come here with friends tomorrow night, but I would never go to a place where such a rude person works. Being polite and smiling shouldn't be this hard.

I am always sceptical of super touristy places when it comes to food, but the soup was nice! The waiting times were a bit long, for just 2 soups, about 30-40 min. People next to us waited for over an hour for 1 shareable meal. Also - make sure you check how much you’re charged, as they put a 15% service fee on the bill at the bottom and very quietly ask you if you want that included. You can say no and/or give less, if you didn’t like the service.

Delicious food. We had the pizza. Goulash and pork ribs. The pork ribs were the best of all our food. The meat was tender and fell off the bone. The music made the restaurant lively. If you are sensitive to noise then it may not be comfortable but we found it charming and active.

Friendly, with good wine and beer, and an impressively speedy service. Huge selection on the menu, although not a lot for vegetarians (but enough). We sat indoors, but the outside space is gorgeous and is right next to the astronomical clock, overlooking the square.

  • 4/5 Charlotte M. 2 years ago on Google
As it is on the square, the prices of the food is reasonable, you can find cheaper prices down little cobble roads but you have the view of the square and the beer is a little dearer but the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. considering location, the price is great. i order the potato soup in a bread bowl, sounds simple, but oh my.. i could have eaten that the whole weekend i was there. i also tried one of their pasta dishes, everything i had, was great tasting.

Very disappointing breakfast here. My partner had poached eggs on toast with avocado - the eggs were hard and over cooked. I had the “English breakfast” which wasn’t even lukewarm. It didn’t taste too bad, but it was mediocre at best. The worst part about this was the price - in £‘s it cost us around £15 each. We had cheaper and much better breakfast elsewhere later in our trip.

Went with friends, for the novelty of having a beer on Old Town Square at normal prices (summer 2021, when restaurants on old town square reduced prices to attract locals). Decided to get food as well. Based on earlier reviews I think the lack of tourists has improved things. Service was prompt, the beers and food were very good. I’d go back, while the prices remain at ‘for locals’ levels at least.

Food was good, but the service was weird😬 we were welcomed nicely but when the bill arrived, the waitress gave us change adding a tip for herself by herself 🤷‍♀️ even though she did not serve us at all and we did not say to calculate the tips 😏 would not like to visit this place again.

BEST BEEF GOULASH EVEERRRRR! The potato dumplings were so good we gobbled everything up! Will try again when I’m back there :)

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great views across the square. The food was average and slightly overpriced. No disabled access to toilets.

Outside was very busy and popular because it is in the town square, we sat inside which smelt a lot like smoke and we didn't like it. We only ordered drinks which were quite pricey (probably because in the town center) The staff are quite pushy and expect you to order within 5 minutes of sitting down, asked for more time and he didn't give us much more time to think.
