This is a HORRIBLE experience. One of the worst tourist traps in Prague. Terrible rude service. Overpriced - if you fancy a 20euro overcooked pork knuckle and a 2 euros for an extra bit of mustard or horseraddish, feel free to indulge. We were ripped off, the service was extra rude and didn’t want to let us go unless we pay a tip of 12,5%. Even though the bill says that Tips are not compulsory and not included. We always give tips for good service but it was not this case. We ended up in a quarrel. Food is terrible too. How dare you be so bad and rip visitors off and pry on a once good name (40 years ago) BEST TO BE AVOIDED. And best to be closed.

Lovely food, frankly aggressive rude service. --- Had a lovely meal, however as an international tourist I found the service by the head waitress to be very rude and short-tempted. She made me feel deeply uncomfortable & bullied upon simply querying something on the bill I didn't understand. I'd stay away from this establishment & it's frankly aggressive service. Having spent some time in Prague I'm reassured that there are much better options available locally, staffed by the lovely people of this beautiful city.

Beware of this establishment. It is in the heart of the city center and the prices, service and quality of the ‘just okay’ food reflect it’s a typical tourist trap that should be avoided. There are far better restaurants a few tram stops away. There is a mandatory tip for truly awful service and, had it not been for my guests from abroad wishing to dive into this place, this review would not have been necessary. The beer is also awfully expensive and the choices are limited. I had a stomach ache for the duration of the night after this place… possibly from The nauseating feeling of having been ripped off in my home city.

The restaurant was recommended to us as typically Czech with a touch of Czech history. We found it quite comfortably, we sat in the back of the restaurant, we had a reservation ready for about 10 people. Everything was quite confusing, the waiter Pavel was quite nervous and unpleasant and kept repeating to us that we had to order at once, that he wouldn't check it later. After a few corrections in the order, we received food and drinks that were absolutely perfect and very tasty. The overall impression is therefore positive, but we will try the gastronomy elsewhere.

Classic tourist trap. Service was fast and pleasant at the beginning. Food was good and brought fast. However, when the time came to pay the bill, the troubles started. We were charged for the "suggested side dish" that on the menu had no hint on not being included in the price. Also, after ordering the 0.3 beer we got a 0.5 glass, and a completely different one, which was more expensive. When we started asking questions, the attitude changed instantly and we were treated awfully. Had the pleasure to speak with the "manager" to solve the issue and I just want to point that his behavior was fit for an adolescent with an attitude, not a man in his 40's in such a position. As soon as he came to the table he started blaming us that we didn't ask if the side dishes had additional fees and generally was forcing us to pay the whole bill, ignoring the fact that these things are normally indicated in the menu. Oh,and as we were in the middle of the discussion,he just turned around and left, while I was speaking with him. That's the first time I've encountered such disrespect. Nasty experience in general.

DO NOT COME!! We got there when it was pretty much empty, ordered everything and then waited 1 hour and a half while the place was getting full of people without anything but the drinks coming to our tables. We even struggled to get a bottle of water, had to ask for it 4 times to the same waiter. At 9 PM we payed for the drinks and got out without having eaten, the waiter even looked disappointed, no words.

This place is a tourist trap, indeed. The beer is nice and they catch people with the beer's price. The food was more than an average, french fries were so hard it was impossible to eat them, my dad didn't like his food too. Main dishes but no included price of french fries in it, but added separately. Peanuts on the table, that were apparently 60 CZK, while there was no information about it. Stuff service wasn't too welcome. The lady added 15% tip without even asking for permission. Place to avoid. Shame as there are a lot better places in Prague with an excellent food and this one is surely not one of them

SCAMMERS. Tourist trap. We ended up paying much more than we should have payed. 62 euros instead of 45. Without mentioning the unfriendly service as if we owed something to the waiters, they put us extra fees like couvert 40 kc and dumpling that was included in the goulash plate for 118 kč. At the end they invited us to go pay at the desk by credit card although we saw the waiters bring the POS machine to other people at their table. I guess they're specialized in scamming and they fool you more easily when you're not sitting. One of the waiters, a young girl who looked very cute scammed us in the most scandalous way by charging the credit card a 15% tip without our approval. It was about 8-9 euros (almost 200 czech crowns). My friend did not notice it that night and I returned to the manager the day after in the morning and he simply told me to return in 2 days to speak to a colleague of his who was in charge the night we went there. He just said a "sorry" to end the conversation. The food quality is below the average. Hygiene is scarce. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND EVEN IF YOU GO OPEN YOUR EYES AND CHECK EVERYTHING YOU HAVE IN THE RECEIPT AND LEAVE NO TIP TO THESE RUDE PROFESSIONAL SCAMMERS.

OVERPRICED AND RUDE STAFF. The worst place ever. Came in got ignored twice when asking for the menu. The staff was incredibly rude. We asked them for a bread - nobody brought it. We asked to speak to the manager and he tried to get rid off us by serving the bill despite the fact we didn’t finish our drinks. Both the waiter and the manager started to be extremely ruse using swear words (not about us but between each other). The manager said his waiter was a bad worker but that no one better wants to work there. Not sure how this was our problem. Grim tourist trap.

WORST RESTAURANT I'VE BEEN IN. They charged us for everything. For spices (noone used, they just said "you could have"), for starters we didn't order and for SERVICE, which WAS AWFUL - as a tourist we couldn't communicate with waitress, cause she only spoke Czech. So she just left us until another one came 10 minutes later. Also once we ordered 0.3l beer they gave us 0.5l and charged for this additionally. Food was quite good but still...

Very disappointed. Most expensive place we went to after 4 days on prague and the WORST food. Food arrived cold. Beef was hard and looked like it had been prepared a long time before. The service was no better. The place was huge and looked cool which is why we initially went in. You have to pay for sides- for example if you have goulash it does not come with dumplings. Everywhere else this is included so was very shocked. To give you an idea- me and my partner spent no more then £30 on any meal including 2 drinks (usually goulash pork knuckle, 2 beers and a mulled wine) here with only two drinks and two dishes the total came to £51. Also a huge plate came with the tiniest portion of beef- around 3 mouthfuls. I even ordered a standard mulled wine but it came in a mug that tasted like it had been in a dirty dishwasher. Overall just hugely disappointed. Please do not come here and waste you money.

Very delicious food but terrific service. Our waiter guy was super nice but there were other waitresses who were shouting and screaming at us for eating peanuts that were laying on every table. We understand that it’s for extra price but this woman came and started demanding that we pay 50 czk for that. Its not like we were already leaving without pay, so at least respect your client’s privacy and let them finish food before demanding paying. Unbelievable, 2 stars are a bit even higher than what we experienced. Do not recommend!

Awful experience! Do not recommend Visited here with my family after drinking in one of their bars earlier on in the night. On arrival, the restaurant manager pointed to the table where we would be sat and allowed us to walk over to the table on our own. As we went to sit down, a female waitress began wagging her finger at us, telling us we cannot sit there and was just being generally rude. Only once I told her that the table was reserved for us she began being more friendly. After waiting over 1 hour for our food to arrive, we were then informed just as the waitress was placing the plates on the table that 2 people’s food would not be coming as they have non left but offered no apology. Instead, she practically forced them to order something else and when it arrived it looked like a children’s chicken strips and chips meal. On receiving the bill, it was noticed that the waitress had put separate charges on, £2 for bbq sauce and £2 for mayo. We had not been informed that these came with an extra charge. It was then noticed that another charge had gone onto the bill and when challenged, the waitress informed us that this charge is for the use of knives and forks, plates and napkins. We made several attempts to make a valid complaint to staff, including the manager, however we were ignored by everyone and the manager even walked away mid conversation. DO NOT RECOMMEND if you are a tourist visiting Prague. This restaurant clearly only looks after the locals

The atmosphere is unbearable. The waitress was trying to charge us with stuff we didn't order the entire time. I then talked with a friend about the same restaurant, told me the exact same thing. Never going to come back for sure

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. I regretted for days that I didn't read the reviews before that mistake. That's exactly what happened to us too. They gave us a tasteless dish with the amount for small children but that's why the price was for very adults (they charged us extra and what goes with the meal - mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup - even peanuts that welcomed us on the table for beer). At the end,we had to leave a 15% tip after this robbery. THIS PLACE IS A SHAME OF THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY ! ! !

Ordered 2 beers and portion of fries. Fries arrived very fast, in a metal colander and were like warm , bit like microwave fries. The best part was the bottle ketchup she left for us, opened it up and there was a thick living colony around the rim (mould) beer was fine but would avoid the food.

Terrible experience. Very rude service. We (2 persons) came in for having a lunch. As soon as we sat down a waitress immediatly came and said 'two beers' and walked away without waiting for a reply, so we got two beers which we didn't order. After that the lunch wasn't really great but it wasn't expensive as well. They brought us a bread basket without any toppings which we didn't ask for. We reminded two different waiters that we hadn't ordered or wanted the bread but they didn't want to take it away. When we were finished and wanted to pay they charged us for the bread so after a stumble they removed the costs but then forced us to pay a 15% for a tip. We were not going to pay for that so the waitress was very rude to us. In the end we left and didn't pay for the tip. Rude service, bad food!

Just now read all the reviews that mention it is a tourist trap. I wish I would have read it earlier. They charged us 60 kr for the mayo that came with the French fries, but that is not even the worst part - the waitress chased us after we paid to say that we didn't pay for pretzels - she of course meant the opened pretzels package that was already on the table when we sat down and that we clearly didn't touch. When we told her it wasn't ours she was extremely rude about it. There are much better places in prague - STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE. Rude staff got the order wrong three times, obviously poor communication between ordering staff and kitchen, charges you 10 euros for a single (!) thin slice of meat drowned in sauce and bread. The place seems cosy from the outside but is poorly maintained and dirty. Only the beer was ok. Go some place else

The location is great and atmosphere is authentic. However the food is not tasty, not what you expect, very small portions! Not worth the price. Staff is fast but not very attentive.. We ordered a portion of fried onion rings and the brought us 4 onion rings, and chips. We also ordered the top rated traditional beef from the menu and they brought us 3 small slices of beef with a lot of aouce and the recommended sides, without us order g them..

We happened upon this Czech style pub by accident. We entered through the upstairs entrance. We were disappointed that they weren’t serving good, so we ventured downstairs where a whole new huge festive venue welcomed us! The incredible accordion musician played local and folk music. The music moved the young and old! Our waitress, wish I had asked her name, was so attentive and efficient!! We ordered traditional fare and we each loved our choices! We had such a great time, that we returned the next night, our final night in Prague! Enjoy!

Amazing review to our server Veronika. However, considering the long tradition of this restaurant, we would expect a way better quality of beer. Glasses were warm and not clean as they should be. Pretty disappointing experience. Food was great tho.

Essen akzeptabel. Bestelltes Bier 0.5 lt. hatte max. 0.4 lt Bier.

All in all I liked this place. The food was good although they did take a long while to bring it to the table. The beer tasted great and it was cheap. I don’t agree with other comments that have said that the staff was rude, all the people who interacted with us were friendly. The place had a good festive vibe and it was nicely decorated. I’d go again.

We should have read the reviews before going here but the location was convenient so we ended up here. The food wasn’t great and very overpriced. At the end, they brought us a bill that he hand wrote on a piece of paper, which was illegible. Conveniently, when we queried about the bill is when the waiter couldn’t speak English (up until then, he was able to communicate with us fine). When we calculated the total of what we ordered, it didn’t add up. He must have included a hefty tip. When we asked for a proper bill, they brought over a different table’s bill. Overall, it just seemed like a scam.

Service was far from great, the rest I'd say average. Perhaps a miscommunication as our group was likely bigger than expected, but the pub was half empty otherwise, so they should have no problem dealing with that.

I’m surprised at the bad reviews I’m seeing here, this has been my go-to place for almost 20 years for my favorite steak tartare in town. Maybe they treat tourists differently than local. I couldn’t say. I’ve always spoken Czech here and had nice servers, excellent food, and normally priced beers.

Just for info, service fees can be interesting when you see the bill. They ask do you want to pay these fees or not? Of course it is hard to say no in this situation. I have never experienced this type of service anywhere. There are packed penuts on the table. If you open them, you have to pay for them as well. Food was delicious, average portions.

Scam trap for tourists and even for locals when they are not paying enough attention. Waiter was straight up rude, then there was also live harmonica player who was playing so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. Also they automatically charged everyone on the table "couvert" on the bill for having a pack of nuts on the table, which nobody actually opened.

Some friends and me (total of 7 pax) were not allowed to sit down in a tabke because it was supposed to be for four people, but in the table right next to it there were 6 people. Then, we managed to sit in two tables but they did not serve any drinks because they were run out of glasses. At the same moment they were serving new beers again and again. We gave up and we leave the place after 10 minutes. Unacceptable.

I give two stars, cause food wasn't horrible and some of the staff was nice. General experience is really bad, we still get shivers thinking of that place. The waitress was wearing basically underwear on Christmas eve with her body parts exposed to a max and that didn't help with the appetite 🤣 she told us bread and such was free and then charged for it, demanded for tips and even lied to us that it is mandatory (even though it is written on the receipt specifically that it is not mandatory, but appreciated), she told us that it is a minimum of 10%, but she would like more and almost pressed buttons herself on the card machine (my bf didn't let her). This was a first for me and we ended up leaving zero and ran away from the place.

It was nice on one day, with an accordeon player and a nice atmosphere. On the second day however, it was terribly hot in the room we were sitting in. When we wanted to sit elsewhere, we were sent through a maze (their bar is insanely big) and finally we arrived at exactly the same hot room... They staff was inattentive, and wanted is gone as soon as we had ordered our last beer...

Lovely place. Small upstairs, but once you descend the stairs there is a beautiful restaurant in a atrium with glass ceiling. Comfortable seating, cozy feeling. Food was delicious. I was hungry and didn't even think of taking a photo until I finished the whole meal :))) We had a great waiter named Pavel, with a great beard :). He was very friendly and recommend good food for us based on our preferences. Definitely recommended place to visit to experience classical Czech pub and Czech food in the heart of Prague.

There are so many negative feedback and I can say that it is for a reason. For us the beer was as ok but when the woman came with the food, one of her fingers was in her nose. Yes, you read it right. And I confirm, be careful with the check. There can be some extra items. And for god sake, It's time to accept that tip is optional, especially when you see the above mentioned service fail. It's the employer's task to pay the employees. If he can't run the business profitably then close it. Pay the employees well! And maybe they will pay attention not to put their fingers into the nose in front of the guests...

We had a beautiful experience in this restaurant and one more restaurant which is the same owner and the other restaurant is on the other side of the river. In both restaurants stuff were very polite, kind, on level when it comes to the service. The food was perfect. We ate soups, main dishes, hot starters, deserts (since we were in two of their restaurants) and there was not the thing that we could say bad about them.

Nice restaurant with decent food choices and good beer. The apple pie is really good. However it’s cheeky to ask for tips. Our bill was about 760 Kr and with tips it would have been about 880 Kr. We paid with a 1,000 Kr note and our waiter didn’t bring the change back.

We had a mixed feeling about this place. Although this place is huge in terms of space but the waiters are not so efficient when it comes to the accuracy of taking orders. We ordered a specific dish but the waiter had brought something else. Also, waiters were paying less attention to non european folks which was pretty evident with their behavior. For the atmosphere, I would give 5/5 but food and service needs to be worked upon.

Although we saw a lot of negative reviews, we still decided to go, because a visit to Prague cannot be complete without a visit to this restaurant. Turns out the bad reviews are wrong. The place is still as it was. Cheerful atmosphere, large quantities of beer and excellent food. The service was also super fast. We have to mention Pavel, who did his job professionally and very kindly, with a smile on his face.

Regretted not reading the reviews before step into this restaurant. As mentioned in others reviews, it was a tourist trap, no wonders locals not ordering food. We’ve ordered 1 beer, 1 soup plus 2 main dishes, but the receipt came out with additional 4 more items with 4 additional costs. According to them, that was the recommended dishes that came along with the food. I said to them, I didn’t even eat the side dishes, and they never even brought up when placing order. You should at least listed the additional pricing in the menu. This is a historical restaurant, what on Earth you need to cheat to your customers. The waitress just responded, “because my boss is stupid”. I’ve never experienced this throughout my trips, and yes, it did ruin my last night mood in Prague.

This place used to be really good. However, my visit this week was not so. The beer is still cheap however, the food bill had an extra beer and two cover charges for bread we received but didn’t eat. The goulash was tasty but is cheaper elsewhere. And the tips on the receipt seems commonplace, although I was surprised to see it.

They act like every foreign customer is tourist and will not come back soon. They mainly focus on customers to drink more and leave fixed tips, instead of providing services politely. Their approach does not allow customers to enjoy this nice place and good beer, sadly.

They're always trying to get me to drink beer. It's unnecessary to come to the table so often. Just because we don't speak Czech doesn't mean we are tourists. The place is generally nice and the beer price is reasonable compared to other bars but this approach is disturbing.
