No entry fee is required. The upper area is well maintained. The garden is beautiful to be around. It’s a perfect place for a picnic or just “sight seeing”. The view of the city & the sunset from there are beautiful as well. There are a couple of photographers who will want to take pictures of you, but they won’t harass you. There are also a couple of homeless people/beggars who will ask for your food. There aren’t many security guards so it’s advisable to come in groups, always beware of your surroundings and stay safe.

Zum Sonntag kamen wir hier leider nicht zur Statue von Nelson Mandela heran. Der Park mit der großen Wiese lädt zum Picknick ein. Hier waren keine Touristen.

The Union Building is quite a masterpiece of architectural work. Very imposing and quite powerful in outlook - the true seat of South African power!

Beautiful place to visit with a stunning view of parts of Pretoria. It's easily accessible from different directions. The gardens are well maintained. But wow, the toilets stink. I hope they've improved since the last time. It's a shock to be surrounded by so much beauty and history, and get hit by the smell of dirty toilets. It's a disgrace. There's such a nice vibe here and for a moment you feel part of history as your eyes drink in those beautiful surroundings and the massive statue of Madiba. I love going there.

This is a beautiful building with tranquil gardens adjourning a popular park at the foot of the hill. It has an amazingly peaceful presence, and offers excellent views of Pretoria, including the hustling, bustling city centre, where the smokey glass building that houses the Reserve Bank dominates the skyline. Centre stage in the gardens below Union Buildings is an impressive statue of the international icon, the former President, Nelson Mandela, principled and unwavering both as a freedom fighter and as a statesman.

Well maintained and clean. Great for pick nicks and camping and temporary housing arrangement if needed. Close to other touristic attractions like the Voortrekker meuseum and the science meuseum.

I visited the Union Building in Pretoria, my God it was extremely and extraordinary beautiful. Don't you leave South Africa without visiting UB, it's mind blowing and the environment and freedom to move around cannot be explained.

The gardens are very clean and the atmosphere is so fresh. People where there doing multiple things such as picnics, workouts, touring and many more. There are photo people in case you need to take pictures, transport is easily accessible and it’s safe with security.

As everyone has mentioned, the gardens are really beautiful and well kept! With many photo/selfie opportunities. 😉 There are informative boards which help you to see what you are looking at, all around the grounds, and give some background. Absolutely worth the visit, the view over the city is beautiful, and you can drive over the mountain and see the city from the other side as well. The Khoisan (aka "Aboriginal embassy") are still camping out at the bottom (next to Mr Mandela's statue), they have been there since 2018. You can meet them and hear their stories, which is intense, but insightful.

Beautiful place, nice architectural style, nice sculptures, beautiful gardens and well maintained, everywhere is clean. Entrance is free during weekdays until Friday 18:00, no access is allowed on weekends to walk around. Nice place for a picnic, date, chill with friends, kids and family, beautiful views and fresh air.

The top upper part of union buildings is okay and clean. But as you go lower you'll see squatter camps and litter at the far bottom. It is a nice place to take pictures. And safe.. but only at night

Lovely venue for an afternoon out and about. No charge. Gardens are beautifully kept, but very sad to see how copper plaques and name plates have been vandalized. Also a pity that the actual building can no longer be seen up close, but I suppose considering the vandalism, it's the best way to protect it.

I was impressed by the stone work in this place, it's amazing to see such an old place being well maintained. I was there on 2020 October 31st. I will never forget the feeling of happiness especially when I first witnessed the work of André Prinsloo and Ruhan Janse van Vuuren, a 9 miter bronze Statue of Mandela. A world class art.

Well manicured gardens and you are able to drive up to the buildings and park really close. Security is tight and you aren’t able to get into the amphitheater which is expected. You can park and walk down to the Nelson Mandela statue which is a hit with all the tourists. Watch out for the water sprinklers they do catch the stairway. Majestic and stunning buildings.

The breeze slaps differently here;) As well maintained as it is what could be great as a suggestion as we continue to carry the history gospel is to get the names and headings of the legendary displayed correctly. There are missing letter's on some etc getting this in order will just complement the goal of that purpose.

Nice views of Pretoria and all its splendour from the hilltop at the union buildings. The place is quite laid back, huge, and has some incredibly well kept lawns with bright flowers especially towards the top. The views and scenery make for nice photo opportunities, kudos to the caretakers. At the top, you'll be able to find ample parking for your vehicle, even though it'll be in the glaring Pretoria sun. Warning though, be careful for yourself and your belongings if you play around the park during the early evenings and night especially if alone. Mugging here is very common, as they target people accessing free public wifi.

The Buildings are one of the centres of political life in South Africa; "The Buildings" and "Arcadia" have become metonyms for the South African government. It has become an iconic landmark of Pretoria and South Africa in general, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city and an emblem of democracy. The Buildings are the location of presidential inaugurations. The Boer Republics of the ZAR and the Orange Free State were united with the Cape Colony and Natal Colony in 1910 to become the Union of South Africa. Pretoria then became the administrative capital of the whole of South Africa, with Cape Town the legislative capital. Between 1860 and 1994, the city was also the capital of the province of Transvaal, superseding Potchefstroom in that role. The new Union required a governmental building which could signify unity and host the new government. One of the most significant landmark of the administrative capital of South Africa ( Pretoria )

Arguably one of the most impressive buildings built by Sir Herbert Baker in South Africa. The Union Buildings (Afrikaans: Uniegebou) form the official seat of the South African Government and also house the offices of the President of South Africa. The building is surrounded by beautifully terraced gardens of indigenous plants. Various monuments adorn the expansive lawns, including the Delville Wood War Memorial and a statue of the country's first Prime Minister, General The Rt Hon. Louis Botha. This site comes highly recommended upon your next visit to Pretoria!

Stunning architecture and beautiful statue of a leader that meant so much to South Africa. The gardens and fountains look exquisite, is well laid out and maintained. This is a great place to visit on a day outing to Pretoria. From here you will also have a great view over the city. The road towards to Building is a bit neglected, but don’t let that discourage you, the visit is worth it!

Union Buildings is situated on Meintjieskop Hill in the capital city Pretoria, South Africa. It has a well-kept and enchanting garden that cascades into Arcadia suburb down below. The garden host different memorial plaques, statues, including that of the iconic Nelson Mandela. The gardens are frequented by admirers and tourists all the time, as Union Buildings are a historical site, marking the Union of South Africa in 1910, though the building was completed in 1913. It is now housing adminstration for the government of South Africa. A vantage view from this site shows the layout of the beautiful city of Pretoria.

I like the location and the design. It's well managed and presently well secured. Kind of. Some of the guards need to be reprimanded or even replaced. The furniture is s little humble and got so worthy of the status. Nevertheless, the cleaners and maintenance crew should be well paid for their good work. Visitors should be allowed to take photos. What are you afraid of these days when satellites have invaded bedrooms.

This is seat of oiwer of the South African Government and the buildings are a great example of the British architecture. The buildings, roughly more than a century old, stand in all glory even today. However, the Government could do more to protect the place from being vandalized. The buildings are a replica of the Presidential house (Rashtrapathi Bhavan) in New Delhi, India. The gardens are well manicured and a sight to behold.
