Wonderful food and reasonable prices. I stumbled upon this place while looking for somewhere I could have dinner on my own, and boy was I surprised! I was seated immediately and my waitress was super attentive. She helped me out at the time of choosing my order, and I have to say she nailed it I ordered the shepherds pie and it was amazing! The serving was HUGE and it was delicious. Seriously, 120% recommended

We came here for brunch and the experience was great. Friendly service and tasteful food. I had the crepes with smoke tout and goat cheese. The flavor combined and the presentation was excellent. My partner had breakfast casseroles with sausage, bacon and eggs. It looks simple but the flavor cannot be under estimated. The restaurant decor feels like a hunter house. Make sure you check out their unique designed restroom ;).

Wonderful food. Reasonably priced. Big portions size. One of the better breakfast places I have been too. If you are in Quebec City old town on a vacation for few days and you like brunch or breakfast then this place is highly recommended. Make sure to reserve a spot ahead of time. Breakfast tip: If you don’t have a reservation on a busy or long weekend then show up between 8-8:30am for a walk-in. It’s usually fully booked starting 9am on long weekends.

Very popular breakfast/brunch spot in Old Quebec city. Traditional Quebecois sugar shack set up, love the atmosphere. Book in advance or prepare to line up a bit, we waited almost 1h without reservation. Their Mimosa is pretty good, better than a few places that we have tried. We had the casserole and the mixed plate, both was fantastic and very filling. Highly recommended!

Fabulous and they get top marks for everything. And not surprisingly, it was packed to the brim. Service was excellent and the staff are very very friendly. Food was nice, fresh and tasty. My Crepe with Blueberries with Maple syrup was excellent. My partner's Breakfast Poutine looked great too. Atmosphere was great. I'll be very happy to go back.

The real Quebec experience. Visited for breakfast around 9am, waited outside for 10 minutes. We ordered the French toast, homemade waffles, grandma’s omelette and the skillet omelette. Everything tasted fresh and tasty, it was all unique and flavorful, the waffles were very nice, they were crispy and delicious, the omelette was good, a bit more seasoning would have been great. The bread served with them was toasted and had butter on them. The French toast was really nice, not too sweet and was great. The service was really good, the staff were nice, and it gave such a good feeling seeing them being all friendly and like a family. The atmosphere was sooooo nice they had decorations all over the place that made the place very special and unique. Overall a very unique experience.

Absolutely amazing food! We ordered rabbit wings, chicken waffles and BLT sandwiches. The rabbit wings did surprised us! Very delicious! And so does the BLT sandwich! BLT sandwich had good food quantity. The chicken waffles with blueberries was the best I ever had. The service and atmosphere were good as well. Highly recommended!

Exceptional dining experience! The friendly and professional waiter provided excellent recommendations, adding a personal touch to our visit. The food was simply amazing, each dish bursting with delightful flavors and enticing textures. From the appetizers to the chef's specials, every bite was a culinary revelation. The restaurant's inviting atmosphere set the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. The care and pride the kitchen staff put into their creations were evident in the beautifully presented dishes that graced our table. The highlight of the meal was the chef's special dessert, a true symphony of tastes that left us in awe. Throughout our visit, the attentive staff ensured our every need was met, making us feel welcomed and appreciated.

Loved this place while on vacation in Quebec City!! Didn't have reservations but, lucky to be seated immediately (Monday night). Great atmosphere and decor. They were playing awesome French Folk music! The food was very good! I had the poutine (special topping of the day was beef), hubby had the meat pie and sister had the chicken sandwich. We coupled that with nice cold beers and had a great time!! Definitely recommend 👌

I studied this place before coming here - saw great reviews, and right off the bat ordered their chicken waffle. The brunch was unique and delicious. It somehow had some spicy taste to it. The maple/caramel syrup went well with the waffle and chicken, and the chicken was very well cooked and crispy. The blueberries were not sour but sweet! The brunch, however, was pretty heavy, fyi for future visitors. I enjoyed my choice nonetheless! The employees here were friendly and fun!

Quebec style brunch restaurant. I liked the omelette—Grandma’s, which had smoked cheddar, green onion, and mushroom inside, toast, and wedge. Like its name, it was simple and ordinary, but good also. As for Shepherd’s pie, because I don’t eat beef, I only tried the smashed potatoes. My friend said it was delicious but it couldn’t have too much. The environment was so retro. Having a meal inside was soooo cool! Suggest to make a reservation because it is very popular.

I came here for dinner to see if it lives up to the hype, which it sort of did! I ordered rabbit wings, Ribs, and smoked trout. The only thing that is a bit disappointing is the trout. With a price tag of $20, it wasn't worth it. But the ribs were so tender and nice. For the desert I got poor man pudding and maple pie. The pudding was so delicious I couldn't get enough of it. For the maple pie, I didn't quite taste the maple but it was a good combination with fruits and nuts. Lastly, the customer service was amazing!

Delicious lunch and we were ushered in to this busy restaurant in 5 minutes with our family group and seated in a more private dining area. All of our dishes were fabulous Quebec cuisine, such as poutine, meat pie, blueberry crepes and a brunch meal. Our waiter was friendly and attentive to our needs.

Food is really good. Reached the place at around 2:45pm to order the bottomless mimosas, but they advised that they stop serving that around 1:30 or so. So reach early if you want to try that. Food was really good. Crepe was delicious and the staff were really friendly. Loved the concept of the washrooms. Not a big fan of animal fur, so if you are not into that, then please cautious.

Loved the breakfast here a bit too much. I thought the salmon crepes sound a bit weird so like I always do I tried it and absolutely loved it! The flavors go so well together. The breakfast poutine was another delicious flavorful option if you love a big breakfast. The service was excellent and I loved the interior 🥇 Recommended if you’re in Quebec City!!

Had an amazing traditional Quebecois breakfast at La Buche. I got the big breakfast, and it was delicious. Every component on the plate was terrific. I really enjoyed the meats and the maple butter was simply divine! Also, I never had an empty coffee cup which was nice. They kept it coming. The ambiance was authentic and they played traditional Quebecois folk music. Friendly service topped off the experience. Highly recommend!

It’s one one of the best brunch in Quebec! Inside the restaurant was good mood. The staff gave us some ideas helped. I order omelette plate many mushroom inside and come with potatoes and fruits. it was all tasty. Little too much for me that I’m not big eater but you will be satisfied.

We weren't able to make a reservation for brunch on a long-weekend, so we waited in line, but the lineup went pretty quickly. We liked the Québécois decor. Our favourite was the Chicken + Waffles (moist and crispy chicken, delicious waffles and blueberries). Hubby liked the cheese curds and mushrooms in the lumberjack casserole. The full breakfast option was really generous, and the salmon crepe was also really good. Would definitely visit again!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The best brunch in town. Usually brunch menus are the all the same for restaurants. But this one stood out the most. We didn’t expect to be served with very delicious food. The omelette was soft, potatoes were toasted, homemade blueberries, big slices of fresh fruits, waffle was mouthwatering, and my favourite was the beans on the side. Every single food we ordered was outstanding. The serving was surprisingly huge for the amount of money we paid for. We wanted to pay more so we added it to the tip. The ambiance was unique, you can see the indigenous snowshoes and retro style. The staff looks happy to serve you, very quick and easy to deal with. We are a Brunch-hopper we’ve been to a lot of brunch spots but this La Buche is our no.1 now.

Fantastic local dining in Old Quebec, suggested by our hotel concierge. Great friendly, vibrant atmosphere. The staff are fantastic; so friendly and professional. We went for breakfast. The place was full, but the food came out fast and hot. Everything was mmm good and really generous portions. Will definitely visit again next time I'm in Quebec, and highly recommend.

My favourite stop in terms of eating while visiting the city! This was our first stop on our food and drink tour!! What a perfect start to a fantastic day! The food was beyond flavourful, colourful and an absolute delight!!! Service was exceptional, the place was packed and the vibe is perfect 🤩 You MUST eat here!!! A warm and fuzzy home-cooked meal vibe. And don’t forget to use the restroom…a very different experience (and memorable) One of my favourite places to eat in my travels for 2022 🔥💥 (If I could give out 6 stars I would!)

One of the best brunch I’ve had in a long time. I really loved this place. Although we didn’t have reservations, we were seated in less than 10 minutes. We came on a Monday and it was pretty packed. This place has a Great atmosphere and decor. Our server was amazing!! We ordered rabbit wings (as recommended by our server) they were delicious. We also ordered their chicken and waffles - full of flavor. The prices were reasonable and well worth it. If you're in Quebec City, book yourself a nice dinner at La Buche, I Definitely recommend it.

We loved our meal so much at la buche that we came back again for dinner the same day! We did like the breakfast/brunch better, but both were great. The service is so good, fast and friendly. If you want to visit here on a weekend I would definitely make a reservation otherwise you might have a wait. The BLT was the best BLT we ever had and we definitely recommend the pea soup! The waffle was so good especially with chocolate!

Amazing place to have a meal during your trip to Quebec :) Our server kindly recommended the menu meat pie and it was really nice! Rabbit wings are also great and recommendable. Had a great time in restaurant La Buche!

This spot exudes cozy Quebecois charm with traditional eats and fantastic mimosas. The snug space adds to the old-world vibe, creating an intimate atmosphere. Quick, friendly service enhances the overall experience, making it a delightful breakfast spot for a taste of Quebecois comfort.

We had a wonderful breakfast at La Buche. I would recommend making a reservation if you can. The breakfast menu is relatively large and diverse. We ordered the Lumberjack Casserole and the French Toast, both were both delicious. The staff is friendly and the kitchen is fast. The vibe is cool, like a woodsman’s cabin with Oktoberfest energy. Check out the bathroom downstairs, it is very unique.

Had a 100% awesome experience here. The food, the atmosphere and service was second to none. The servers were singing folk French songs which my québécoise girlfriend loved. Would 100% return. Also, I would definitely recommend a reservation if you can, we were able to walk directly in and not wait in a long line because of it so, RSVP!

Great food and great experience!! I got the hunt of the day and my husband got the poutine of the day. Both amazing meals. Server was helpful and friendly. Only thing was it was super crowded so that’s why I rated the atmosphere 4/5. Easy to get a reservation. Definitely recommend! Also got a free poor man’s pudding for dessert for my birthday which was very sweet!

We went to La Buche with a food tour. The food we got was pretty good, I especially liked the pea soup. I had reservations at the restaurant for a few days later, which I canceled after the food tour visit. I think the place was a zoo, pretty loud ( plus the music over the speakers ), and touristy. Maybe another time ...

Overall not a bad brunch experience. Huge portions with pretty good food. I had the French Toast and Cretons with toast. Servers were busy and seemed to try to keep your meal moving to get you back out of the door. I had a reservation which it definitely seems you need, even in the morning. If I found myself back in Old Quebec, I’m not sure I would put La Buche back on the list.

I came here leaving Quebec and was impressed! The service was nice and the waiter was nice. I got my food very quick too! The food was very very nice and the whole place looked really great. The bathroom was cool, if you go, check it out. Overall an insanely fun experience.

Rabbit legs and Quebecois ribs were amazing. The server was great. The atmosphere was excellent. The restaurant is super busy and I didn't have a reservation but they got us in without much wait. The bathrooms are so unique too! Such a great place to eat. I can see why it's highly recommended.

My mom and I went there for dinner the first night we arrived in Quebec and then again another morning for breakfast. Neither meal disappointed, but I will say the smoked trout salad was by far my favorite. It was more than I expected and far tastier than I expected. Getting a table for 2 was pretty quick but it sounds like if there's more of you, it's best to get a din reservation

  • 4/5 Skicy6 2 years ago on Google
Ordered the waffle for brunch, 17 dollars comes with 3 pieces of waffle with no other side. Don’t recommend one person solely order this, better share with others to taste other stuff. Really recommend the management to reconsider the food arrangement portion for waffle. No one can finish 3 super sweet waffles with nothing else. Better to couple with fruits/ yogurt and make it only 2 small waffles Location 5 stars, environment 5 stars, food taste 4 stars (can be better)

  • 5/5 Jennifer M. 1 year ago on Google
Best brunch ever! The chicken and waffles are second to none, the apple caramel French toast and thick slices of maple bacon were perfection! The yogurt parfait and grandpa’s oatmeal were all outstanding. The staff was incredible and atmosphere and vibe was a must experience. Great music! Fun, charming and delicious! A favorite for my family and we cannot wait to return.

Delicious cuisine! Food is served quickly and the servers are nice. loved the decor. To ensure that you obtain a spot, make reservations in advance. If you can, go there. A modern take on traditional Quebec cuisine. At La Buche, there's a great vibe. This is Canada at its best: everything has a faint maple flavour. Not forgetting to note how distinctive the bathroom is. At least, try it once.

  • 5/5 Doria F. 1 year ago on Google
Better made a reservation. We walked in at 11:15, and the only option is to finish before 12:00. And it’s a small high table. It took more than 30 minutes to get your plate, luckily we were told no need to finish the brunch before 12:00, or else it would be too hard. We ordered two most popular dishes, chicken and waffle is good, the jam is sweet and tasty, the waffle is thicker than you normally eat. Sugar shake plate is a super big plate with plenty choices, including bacon, scrambled eggs, beans and fish and fruits. Latte is distinctive and we love it.

This restaurant has high ratings is no mistake. The ambience is welcoming (even for solo travelers) the staff is friendly and helpful, and the foods are fantastic. As a solo traveler, I've always determined to try something I normally don't eat back home. So, I had rabbit wings and deer tartar (as recommended by my server) they were ridiculously delicious. The prices were reasonable and well worth it. If you're in Quebec City, book yourself a nice dinner at La Buche, you'll thank me later.

One of the best breakfast/brunch we had on recent trip to Quebec city! Delicious food! Very nice décor and friendly staff. French toast with loads of maple syrup, crepes or waffles everything was great! Book in advance otherwise you may not get a seat. Do visit if you can.

  • 5/5 Adrian C. 2 years ago on Google
Extremely tasty spot for brunch for two or the family! We got the Chicken and waffles with butter and maple syrup and 🍗🧇 my god it was incredible! I had to savour every single bite but it was so tasty I ate it up so fast! We also got the Grandma's Omelette 🥚🍄which was loaded with mushrooms! The last dish was the two eggs and sausage 🍳🍳 (you can swap the sausage out for bacon 🥓 or ham). Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly! The service was great very quick to help take your order, bring you water, refill your coffee ☕and to bring out your food! The bathroom area and decor was super neat, with a tub 🛁 situated in the middle of the room to wash your hands. Single toilet 🚽 stalls with lots of character due to all the graffiti inside was a cool experience! An excellent place to stop for some delicious food in the Quebec City!

One of my fav restaurants in Quebec! I always make sure to eat here whenever I’m in the area. The vibe of the restaurant is great, the servers are very friendly and welcoming, and the food’s amazing. The last time I went, my family ordered the sugar shack. It was a lot for one person but perfect for sharing. The onion soup was pretty good too!

  • 5/5 Andy L. 2 years ago on Google
I came here for lunch recently. The restaurant gave a very cozy and chill vibe. Service was also good as the server gave me a rough idea of how much food I was ordering. I tried the Sugar Shack, which was excellent. There was definitely quite a bit of food: Beans (Sweet & Savory, nice flavor, good mix), Scramble eggs (Light in flavour, firm, good balance with other food), Crepe with blueberry (Sweet, comforting, nice thickness for sauce, slightly sour berry was a nice touch to offset it from being too sweet), Bacon (Thick flavourful slice, a bit too dry/hard at parts, very nice sweet glaze), Ham (Just the right flavour and thickness), Sausage (Nice crunchy, good flavour), Minced pork with mustard (Tastes ok, good with mustard, compliments the rest), Fried meatball (Crunchy, very nice rich beefy flavour, adds another type of flavour when eaten with the sauce), Toast (Soft, buttery)

Not too busy during lunch time on Monday. They offer brunch menu when we were there. I like the decorations in this place. The bathroom is something you don’t want to miss. The food is good except the French fry that is too soft and probably left over.

Good food, good coffee and unique ambiance. We especially loved the crepes - send back to childhood. Delicious! Though a little bit too sweet to our taste. Super friendly staff. Speedy service. And mostly a line up of clients. They highly recommended to book ahead of time on their website for all meals, including breakfast. They also have a patio.

  • 5/5 Michael L. 2 years ago on Google
Nice restaurant for some really good French Canadian fare. We stayed in Quebec for 4 days and came here for breakfast every morning. They also sell maple syrup by the bottle (750ml) and we picked up a few. They have high quality sausages and bacon for their breakfast plates. Their bacon in particular, is thick cut and has a great maple flavour. Their mushroom omelette is smokey and savoury. Excellent choice for any meal of the day. There is often a line outside this place. Make a reservation for faster seating.
