I can't express enough how much this hotel is my second home! I have stayed at this hotel on many visits to Cuba and I only have excellent things to say. From the security employees at the front to the employees at the beach, all are amazing people. I recommend this hotel 100 percent. Nice clean rooms and a great atmosphere is a recipe for an amazing vacation. Try it out for yourself and see the difference in this amazing hotel.

This is a wonderful five star Cuban resort. The buildings and grounds are beautiful, modern and clean. We were pleasantly surprised by the range and quality of food in the restaurants. We never went hungry. Our expectations were set based on previous trips to Cuba, but they were exceeded this time. We were surprised that there was little seafood other than shrimp. (We were told by another guest that they usually have more seafood and a greater selection of vegetables than they did this particular week). The grounds of the resort are beautiful and well maintained. The staff were kind and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. The beach is also well maintained with plenty of chairs, though you had to be up early in order to reserve those under palapas. The rooms are modern and kept clean by the great housekeeping staff. They have electrical outlets that can take European or North American plugs, but are 230V. There are also two USB jacks in each room to help charge your electronics. The blackout blinds in the rooms are very effective. We had no electrical disruptions and hot water was plentiful. We had two rooms. One had a very musty smell but we didn't complain to management, as we liked having rooms across the hall from each other. Security was always keeping an eye on things. The health care workers were also great, responding quickly when an elderly gentleman collapsed on the grounds (he was fine in the end). The Wi-Fi system is not great. You couldn't work remotely here if you had to (but who would want to in this paradise?). It cuts out a lot, and to keep folks from using up too much, you have to go to the front desk to get re-activated after every four hours of use. The gym is lovely, with great new equipment. The staff there is great (especially Richar), but unfortunately it's only open from 7AM to 3PM and closes for a lunch break. They should expand the hours at least through the late afternoon. The entertainment here was top-notch. There was a musical performer each evening in the lobby (the hub of everything each night). We enjoyed each of them. We only saw one of the big shows (water ballet) and it was amazing. I heard good things about shows in the main theatre too. In case you don't drink dairy products and want a non-dairy option for your coffee, you'll need to bring it yourself as they don't seem to have that in Cuba. We brought tetra packs of oat milk and the bartenders were happy to heat it up for tasty cappuccinos. As others have noted, the rooftop bar in the main building has wonderful views, but you have to pay for drinks there. And if you're looking for club soda, it's not on the menu, which meant when we ordered one for our daughter we were charged $4 US - the cost of the cheapest mixed drink that included club soda in it. It was the only rip-off of our wonderful week at the Gran Muthu Almirante. Hope to return some day!

I know what you're thinking. Cuba?? But honestly, give this All-inclusive Resort a try. You will not regret it. Beautiful grounds, clean, modern rooms with balconies, wonderful restaurants and exceptional staff. The weather in Holguin was consistently 30 degrees Celsius with non-stop sunshine. The food was decent and you could always find something good to eat (I really enjoyed the soups). The only negative I would say is that if you cannot consume dairy, bring your alternative dairy option with you for your morning lattes. They've never heard or oat, almond or soy lattes there. Also, if you want a spot on the beach, you have to get up super early (7am) to reserve your spot. Please aren't allowed to reserve spots but they do anyway. There are lots of fun activities by the attentive staff, including beach volleyball every day and a fun foam party in one of the pools. There is a huge, bustling lobby with nightly entertainment, a cigar bar and evening shows, including a well done water show. The beach is pristine. The water is beautiful blue and warm. This resort and Holguin is a must visit!!

Not as good as advertised....!!! Food: Repetitive and no fresh vegetables. We were told the soup was chicken, but it turned out that it has every meat that they can have. We are repeat customers and they offered us VIP dinner. Interestingly, we were served bad RICE and MEAT that has passed its time and they were bad. They have fresh vegetables available in the street, but this Resort has green pepper and Onion pickled and no fresh at tall during entire week of our stay. I talked to customer relationship care lady (Lisandra) and she said they buy from local farmers to promote them. However, the fresh vegetables in the street are also grown by farmers and as a customer, we don’t need to know where they buy from. Lisandra offered me something complementary, but it did not arrive till I left, that is no issue as it was not important for me at all. Room: Nice and comfortable Pool: Jacuzzi needs to be cleaned and all jets need to be retested for their working condition. Beach: Very Good. Will I go again or recommend someone: less likely unless you want to bring food from outside or carry in your luggage.

Overall experience for hotel is 1 1/2star .I would rather ,recommend renting a house close to the beach Guardalavaca instead. You’ll have a much better local experience and also better service and food . Hotel is horrible . The close the pool at 5pm . They don’t include any drink other than beer when you book and all inclusive. Also look at the beach view they give to their costumers. And also they won’t let you take out your food. There’s a bar on the top floor of the hotel but the drinks are not included . The massage is also not included . Honestly you only paying for the room. Because the beach is not even private. You could go to the beach without needing to stay there . 😂😂😂 so not to safe either because anybody can be there with you without having to pay .

I have been to Cuba 16 times and first time spending a week at Almirante. From moment I arrived til I left, I have 0 complaints about anything. The room, the staff, the food in buffet has all been outstanding. At this hotel you will see a variety of food to choose from. In one week, I have seen beef, pork, shrimp, lobster, chicken and lamb. Each day is different and it's nice knowing you are walking in and have no idea what is available til you see it all. The pools are big and certainly clean. I'm an early riser and worker is cleaning the pools by 8am, there are red flags put up for a reason. Respect them and do no use pools until the flags are removed, the pool guy is testing the water and adding whatever chemicals he must add daily. I see many are hogging the chairs, sunbeds at pools and the beach by putting those blue towels on them reserve them, again this is not allowed and signs are posted stating that. You will be charged $25 USD for lost towels if they are removed. I have been able to get chairs and sunbeds anytime without me leaving my belongings on them and not returning til hours later. This hotel definitely is 5* but staff are a 10* The public relations office is available to help or guide guests with any concerns they have. Please show your respect to all of the cuban staff, they work 6 days a week and they are not miracle workers but they are there to help you have a memorable vacation. I most certainly will return to this hotel as I have no interest in other parts of Cuba. Guardalavaca is where my heart is :)

Modern resort with a wonderful beach. The staff were great. My one constructive feedback was you could not determine a schedule to avoid the live music, microphones and speakers. We didn't attempt to go poolside due to the loud music and microphone activities, the snack bar had live music so loud both the wait staff and myself were yelling loudly back and forth to eachother and conversation amongst family couldn't take place and the lobby had live musical performances nightly which made it hard to hear staff with on our departure evening. Maybe if these performances weren't using microphones and amps it would be a more relaxing experience. Or if there was a schedule or if you knew it was only going to be 30 minutes and then quiet would resume. We want to be able to relax, listen to the waves, the breeze in the lovely landscaping, maybe even doze off. This resort being so new has the opportunity to set itself apart however right now it is in danger of gaining a reputation as just another party resort.

This is simply the best place to go for all inclusive, the friendliest staffs I ever seen. The location and the availability of activities is something that cannot be put aside. Don't hesitate a second, just go, you won't regret it. The only thing you can regret is that you've not been at Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort before! And bring your sunscreen. A must!

Just wanted to give people a heads up of an experience we had today leaving the resort. I am not one to ever complain and liked the whole trip until we were accused of stealing. I’ve never stoked anything in my life. Beware the Extortioners and Thieves We had a decent time at the Grand Muthu Americante until the last day when we were extorted by the house keeper, customer service, manager and the representative from Air Canada vacations. On the 1st day at the resort our room had no bath towels. On the second day I returned to the room after breakfast to our housekeeper and informed her we had no bath towels. She said that they were out but gave me an extra blue beach towel and said they would get us a bath towel when she had one available. We came back that evening to one bath towel. The rest of the vacation we had 3 beach and 1 bath towel thinking this was the best we were going to get. Then on the last day (perfectly timed) as the bus is arriving to take us to the airport we are confronted by a customer service rep saying that we stole towels and owed them $30 USD. After explaining the situation the customer service rep goes to the Muthu rep at the bus and tells him that they are not to leave until we pay. We repeatedly told them to search our bags, each time they decline. We repeatedly asked to talk to the manager, Ramon, who is in a “meeting” and refuses to come talk to us. The bus is now completely loaded and waiting on us. It’s only at this point that the Air Canada rep(Oscar) gets involved and tells us just to pay them so we can get going. We tell them to pull our bags from the bus and we will take a taxi. They refuse. Now holding our luggage hostage. This is when I clue in that it’s a clever rouse. Out of frustration I open my wallet and offer cash to settle it. They refuse demanding Credit Card Payment. Now what are you going to do? The bus is waiting, they have your luggage, you’re stuck! In the end we had to pay. Moral of the story… when you get to the hotel take an inventory of everything in your room, report everything to the front desk and take notes of names and times you went to them and bring a credit card that you don’t mind cancelling…. To be called thieves and deal with the terrible customer service was aweful. I welcome anyone from the resort that would like to reach out to message me to clear this up.

This was our first time here, after several family members have been here as well. We had an amazing! The service and staff are amazing. A special shout out to Annia & Dairelis who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. The beach is amazing - so clean and beautiful. There are always fun activities taking place each day and a great game room for kids as well. The buffet was okay, as expected for Cuba, but the restaurants for dinner were delicious with amazing service!

We stayed here August 1-8, the beach was beautiful! Rooms were clean, pools were clean! Weather in Cuba during August never disappoints! Will definitely be returning!

It suppose to be wondeful and exicting vacation. However for a 5 star hotel that you won't have basics like - no mineral water, no orange juices or pineapple juice, pinocalada is 2.5 us, and it used to be standard as included. no beacon or sausages for breakfasts, butter very random, no tomatoes, no fish choices, even a Cuban coke is limited ( No Cuba Libre) Gin very sporadic, beef 2-3 a week, Hotel it self is quite clean, but they're saving on gasoline, sa grass is note getting cut, more bugs because of that. We feel that this Vacation was Falsly advertised by Sunwing - We have paid close to 4300$ for three people, and you don't even get basics. Do research on your own first before you plan to go there any other hotel in Cuba. Situation is very challenging more then even before. People are swarmling all over.

My experience at this hotel: -backed up sewage -sewage smell in my room and across the resort - Shigella bacteria contamination for DAYS - room service walking into your room while the "do not disturb" sign is up - medical clinic door always locked and no answer when knocking - servers endlessly pouring drinks for gross and loud drunks around families - no fresh squeeze orange juice or fresh lemonade - The food...COLD, bland or too salty, weird dollar store grade ingredients, no seafood, improper cooking. The food in the pictures below is their idea of a breakfast...

Seemed ok to start with (well, ok for Cuba anyway). But the vaunted kids activities are nearly non-existent (and those that do exist are in Spanish, while the kids are Canadian, Quebecois, and some Cubans), the salt content in food is only matched by the sugar content in the deserts, the beach is ok (when the nearby sulphur swamp doesn't flood), and the shows are just awful (amateur theatrics with terrible acoustic setup). Rooms are clean, but very few of them are quiet (either this hotel or the one next door seem to have a nightly rave).

Horrible customer service. The security are rude. For a resort that is a five star review I would expect better. The only thing half decent about this place are the pools. I would highly recommend avoiding this place.
