I’ve never been treated worse by any establishment in my life. Our party arrived 15 minutes after opening and requested a table for four; we had called ahead and been assured that we didn’t need an official reservation this close to opening. There were many tables open upon our arrival, but we were happy to wait. For an hour. Then an hour and a half. We checked in politely as we saw other walk-up customers - other parties of four - being seated. Each time we were dismissed with an unconvincing “we have you down for the next table”. Around the two hour mark we realized that, for whatever reason, they had no intention of seating us. I want to stress that at no point did we become rude or confrontational. I work in and have worked in service for a long time, and I fully sympathize with the difficulties of a busy night, especially during Covid. That said, we were just four people who wanted a nice dinner, and we were led on for hours, time that we could have spent waiting on an establishment that respected us. The real cherry on top- they never ended up calling. And yes, we checked that they had the correct number.

Not just one of the best vegan meals I’ve ever had, but hands down one of THE BEST meals I’ve ever had, periodt. The Cheese tray was unbelievable, the Toast was a religious experience, and quote of the night for the star of the show - the Ravioli with local mushrooms - “I want to leave this bite in my mouth while I fall asleep so it can influence my dreams.” I’d give more than five stars if I could. Outstanding service, as well, especially due to reservation complications due to covid. Thank you all!

First impressions are important. We had a reservation for 5:00pm— right as they opened. At 4:59 the front door was still locked. A little after 5:00 an employee flipped the sign from “Closed” to “Open” but did not unlock the door, despite seeing what was now a line of maybe 7 people outside in the freezing cold. Only until about 5:07 were we let in. I felt it was very disrespectful to not let us in the building, especially when considering the cold snap. I understand if the kitchen wasn’t ready yet, but I’m happy to stand in the lobby area indoors to wait for my table. This really soured my experience. The food was very good though! I especially enjoyed the toast and seitan Marsala. My only negative was that Brussels were way too savory to the point where it was slightly unpleasant. The meals were artfully prepared and plated. The matcha crème brûlée was a delight! I enjoyed the cute touch for those celebrating their birthdays. If you are visually impaired, you may find it challenging to navigate the restaurant after sunset. This is especially true in the bathrooms. I do not have a visual impairment that is affected by light, but even I had to turn on the flashlight on my phone just to see in the bathroom.

Plant was one of the best culinary experiences of my life. Not only was the highlighted item in each individual dish spiced and cooked to perfection, but the accompanying items, which were delicious in their own right, enhanced the overall dish. The service was thoughtful, the staff were mindful of pacing our meal, and each dish was unique and exquisite. Every dish was a visual experience utilizing varying colors, textures, and serving plates. Our table was nearly silent throughout our meal at Plant. Despite having much to discuss and catch up on with close friends, we were so overwhelmed by the flavors of the food that we were unable to do more than simply fully take in each bite. Distilling our experience into a review feels impossible, you'll definitely want to experience Plant for yourself.

I really wanted to love this place after reading previous reviews, and the menu sounded top notch. The service was lovely. As for the food - the crispy potatoes were good, the ravioli was decent, but the toast was entirely too salty. It had so much salt so that none of the other flavors came through. Perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen.

A quick stop on our way through town. Luckily they were still open when we arrived around 8:45pm on a Friday. Shown quickly to a table for two by the friendly host. Our server was very sweet and friendly and all of our dishes came out very quickly. The beet shareable dish was delicious and we chose the ravioli and chili con queso tempeh. Both dishes were delectable with the tempeh being delightfully spicy and the ravioli mild with a zesty cheesy flavor and macadamia nuts for a fun crunch. The evening vibe is low key with darkened mood lighting. There is some bar seating and enough table tops to host plenty of guests. Unfortunately I couldn’t fit in dessert or drinks but they all sounded amazing. Highly recommend a visit !

Not a vegan but this is the 1st meal at a vegan restaurant I enjoyed enough to return. The ravioli was great, best part of the meal hands down. The crispy mushroom mole was another standout to me. I was impressed with the cheese plate as well. For dessert we got the cheesecake and the brownie with beet sorbet(I think). Cheesecake was a bit odd. Pretty sure it had Italian seasoning in it. The brownie with beet sorbet was a much better choice.

I am extremely impressed. I ordered the cauliflower, Portobello Mushroom, and "The Blackout" (a dessert). The cauliflower was delicious. The Portobello Mushroom reminded me of the most tender steak; the sauces were savory. The Blackout dessert had an excessive amount of chocolate, but it was very tasty and a good way to end the meal. This has been my favorite vegetarian restaurant to date! My wife and I are excited to visit again. Thank you! Josh & Leylane

(Review from a non vegan) First of all anyone giving this place less than 5 stars is devoid of taste and can’t stand eating anything more exquisite than boiled chicken with salt and pepper. Plant offered us an incredible culinary experience and is definitely a top 5 in the best restaurants we have been to. Every dish and drink we ordered was so complex and unique. Absolutely nothing fell flat in flavor. If you’re a foodie, Vegan or not, I highly recommend plant as a must stop in Asheville. I’m so glad my husband and I made it part of our weekend trip here and I simply cannot wait for a future visit back! Honestly wish I could cook like this. Food this good would make it so easy to be vegan all day every day! Thank you Plant for showing the world how delicious vegan cuisine can be!

Atmosphere: 1/1 - Small cozy restaurant with dim lighting. Has somewhat of an upscale restaurant feel. Service: 1/1 - welcoming and friendly staff. Always on top of their game with our drinks and checking in on us/our food Price: 0.5/1 -For the size of the plates it’s somewhat pricey. $20-$30 for the “large plates” that were small portions. We shared the cheese plate, mushroom mole and matcha brulee and still felt hungry at the end. Food: 2/2- The plate presentation was phenomenal. Food is incredible! It was a great combination of different flavors. Cocktails were good too! Overall: 4.5/5- If you’re visiting Asheville, or live around the area and are looking for a date idea, then Plant is a great choice! We are not even vegetarian and we loved our experience.

Made a reservation here. They don’t send confirmation emails for some crazy reason. Surprise! They lost our reservation. Was just told “these things happen.” We live over an hour away. They admitted to messing up logging our reservation and couldn’t accommodate us. Do not risk making a reservation here unless you want to deal with people who apparently don’t know how to run a restaurant and keep track of their reservations.

I am not vegan but my girlfriend is in this place topped all our expectations of vegetarian or vegan Chinese food. Glad I found this on vacation and ate from there on our way back to Arizona totally satisfied with the service I'm forward.

Hands down the best Chinese vegan food I have ever ate. The mushroom house chicken was so crispy and delicious my favorite. And their vegan wontons are so good. Hands down you just need to try this place, they are only doing take out at the moment. We drive from Ontario to watermen to enjoy this in the car so the food doesn't get cold. I wish I took a pic but I was too hungry hahaha. ENJOY.

Heard through the grapevine that Plant offers free lunch to the Asheville community on New Years, went to go check and was not disappointed! Apparently this is the third year that Plant is following this tradition. Plant has been a restaurant I’ve been itching to try out since moving to Asheville a few months ago, although the pandemic made it harder to stretch my budget for dining out. When I showed up with my to-go container, I saw a lot of other folks enjoying their Plant experience, with a complimentary PBR. Needless to say the food was delicious, but I just wanted to leave this review in appreciation for their good deed. Really glad and feel privileged that we have this resource in the community; thank you, Plant, I’ll be dreaming of my next visit (hopefully soon)!😴

I tried calling but they did not answer and did not call me back, so I made a reservation online. When I called to confirm just before leaving my hotel, the hostess Ivy told me that she didn't approve my reservation, and that we could not come in. She told me that she never received my reservation request, but I know that was a lie because not even two minutes after we hung up she did something in her system to prompt a reservation cancellation email to be sent to me. Had Ivy been polite on the phone and offered a courteous apology, I would have just moved on, but she adopted a horrible pretentious tone and blamed me for failing to make a proper reservation. She did offer me a time at 9:30pm (three hours after our reservation) but keep in mind that the governor's covid curfew requires that all restaurants are empty by 10pm, so we would have had to stuff our faces quickly and leave. Then she wanted a credit card for that reservation which I've never heard of a restaurant doing before and feels tacky to me. I would have given her my card in exchange for our original reservation time but not for one so late in the night. I know accidents happen. But her attitude was awful, she tried to hang up on me but I stopped her, and I felt at war with her throughout the entire conversation rather than feeling like a valued customer. I expected a more professional attitude from what looks like a nice restaurant.

I feel like I should put a disclaimer for this review because it will look like I'm paid for it. I'm not, but the food is just so phenomenal. I've heard a lot of people say this place is one of the best vegan restaurants they've been to, but really, it is one of best restaurants, period. We ordered basically 95% of the entire menu, and every single dish was fantastic. The ravioli were creamy, with a super flavorful filling. The grits had so many layers from a bit spicy to buttery. And the ramen.. Honestly I don't know how to describe it. My husband said 'I have no idea how someone can give a vegetable broth this much flavor'. It was insane. We also had the carrot cake, creme brulée and Blackout Pie, and there is no way these could be any more delicious if they were not vegan. Take your vegan hating friends and family and teach them a lesson. The portions aren't huge, so you'll be able to sample a lot and still feel OK, but Plant is a bit pricey so keep that in mind.

Excellent menu and cooking, with good portion sizes. Eaten at various vegan restaurants and this is up there with the good ones. Only criticism is that the desserts could be improved on slightly, more sauce on the cheesecake / more pear and topping on the creme brulee.

Best dinner I've ever had. This restaurant really highlights what plants can taste like if you provide patience, understanding and skill into your dish. The multiple courses were great as we ordered it all at one time but gladly they brought them out individually each time we finished one. I had went for my birthday as I was in Asheville for the time being and was beyond satisfied. We spoke about the meal for days.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Asheville since moving here! The ravioli were to die for and the cauliflower was the best cauliflower I think I’ve ever had. The desserts were also delicious - omg the blonde with the beet ice cream 10/10! The only critique I had was the crème brûlée being more the texture of panna cotta rather than a traditional creamy crème brûlée. Still yummy, just not the texture I was expecting!

The food is INCREDIBLE, especially if you are gluten & dairy free like myself. I ordered their curry with rice fritters that were out of this world. We also got the cheese board to share & it’s insane how good it was. The service was good but long waits - definitely reserve in advance. Overall, you won’t be disappointed going here.

Since coming to Asheville we have tried to eat at Plant as it came highly recommended by several plant based friends in the industry in Miami. We were finally able to get a reservation for tonight (our last night in North Carolina) only to have it cancelled 30 minutes prior to seating. We had driven 30 minutes to Asheville already with two kids under 4 years old in tow. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. Worse yet the staff were rude and offered no alternatives. The least the restaurant could have done under the circumstances is offer a free or discounted take out meal. Please avoid this restaurant and support places with proper business ethics.

Our 1st time at Community will not be our last. The food was extraordinary (hand rolled gnocchi) a must try. Our server Hannah made the evening that much more pleasurable. The vibe was great, place was clean and felt very warm and inviting.

This restaurant has quickly become my favourite spot in the GTA for brunch and dinner. I have recommended Community to over 10 people that I know, with nothing but amazing things to say. The food is always top notch, so much flavour and the presentation never disappoints. The staff is so kind, professional and incredibly accommodating. If I had to choose my favourite plate on the menu, it would be the Vegan lovers flatbread, the sweet and spicy lettuce cups, or the caesar wrap with truffles fries ... and you can't forget the pancakes ... so good. lol If you're looking for a restaurant that has a lot of personality & great food, this will also be your new favourite spot.

I honestly don't know how this place got so many positive reviews. Today was my first time there and after reading many of the positive reviews I was looking forward to their food but I didn't want to get my hope's up and it's a good thing I didn't. First of all, their so called lunch "specials" is around 8 bucks for a small amount of food which wouldn't have been a problem if their food was any good but it wasn't. I ordered the Kung Pao which is supposed to be a spicy dish and not only was it not spicy, but it had absolutely no flavor at all. You would think with the way it looked that it would be flavorful and it was anything but. I'm so disappointed and I don't plan on going back. Too expensive for bland food.

I guess this pandemic affected them badly because their quality dropped significantly and it was pricey for the small quantity. We could not eat it, it was that bad. We ordered take out of course so we did not get a chance to tell them what we thought of this bad experience. Interestingly, we were at a Happy Family Restaurant in Monterey Park earlier, we've been going to them for many years... We moved and so this location is nearby and we decided to go for round two on our way home and we were very very dissatisfied. If you want great quality go to the Monterey Park location whenever you're around, they always get it right.

It looks like all the bad reviews are people being snotty about not knowing how to use a reservation service. That was not my issue. I have no complaints whatsoever about the service in general. I even picked up my order 10 min before close and they were very chill about it. However for the price I was not expecting a very tiny portion. I got the curry which tasted great, but was tiny unfortunately. And my partner got the ravioli which was a bit salty and had only five (5) ravioli in it. So just fair warning maybe don't go when very hungry.

From the cheese plate to dessert everything was fantastic. We shared the Chili con Queso and Ravioli and they were both great but the Ravioli was slightly superior. The two of us ate for less than a hundred bucks including drinks and one dessert. Very fine dining and fair prices!

Absolutely phenomenal, colourful, delicious and meticulously crafted menu. Jason is an expert in his field, and an absolute gent. He took the time to talk us through the menu and make recommendations based on our personal tastes. Annie Joe didn't disappoint with booze recommendations either. My mate and I didn't want to leave. Thank you all so much! P.s I would've included pictures of the deserts, but we couldn't wait to wolf them down. Irresistible!

Visiting Asheville and dining with a vegan friend, we tried Plant. OMG! Fantastic!!! The food was excellent in presentation and flavor. I’d eat there again in a heartbeat… and I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but I do enjoy good food. I wouldn’t have ventured here and tried it on my own seeing I’m not Vegan , but I would have definitely been missed out. Great flavor profiles and combinations. The appetizers and entrees we had were so good. Great cocktails too. I didn’t order dessert but those in our party that did also though they were fantastic. Be sure to make a reservation, this place is popular!

Spent a week in Asheville and plant had the BEST vegan food I think I have ever had. They had a great selection of drinks, as well as several non-alcoholic options which was much appreciated. The basil lime soda was to die for and so unique. Service was excellent and fast. They have a super seasonal and local menu that changes often. We started with the cauliflower appetizer for the table and it was so crispy and flavorful! The sauce was excellent. For our entrees we ordered the Mushroom Ravioli which featured fresh cremini mushrooms, the Crispy Mushroom Mole, the Curry, and the falafel. Every dish was flavorful and absolutely beautiful to look at! We ended with the two scoops of ice cream and a cookie (flavors that day were blackberry and chocolate bergamot.. YUM). My only complaint, and it was not even really an issue, was just that it was really tight quarters in the space. I’d give atmosphere a 4.5/5 for this. I was glad to see how busy it was, but it was a bit cramped getting to and from the table and it felt like we were sitting back to back with another table at times. Other than that our experience was wonderful and I could not recommend this place enough.

This place is phenomenal. My party is not vegan and we enjoyed every single bite. Full of flavor and perfect for any omnivore. We got the ravioli, Brussels sprouts tostada, and cauliflower. The Brussels tastes like BBQ meat- incredible. The ravioli and cauliflower were pops of flavor. The jalapeno cucumber martini was delicious, light heat and strong. Then, our party got the ramen, seitan marsala, and mushroom mole. We have not ONE bad thing to say. All three were incredible. They were also pretty large plates. We came in thinking we would leave hungry and have to stop at the temple taco place on the way home... absolutely not. Leaving full and happy. Also- the desserts. That brownie was incredible! The matcha creme brulee was very yummy but less of a custard consistency than non vegan version, but still very delicious.

Vegan for ice 4 plus years would recommend if you’re visiting Asheville. Menu was solid. We picked the cheeses 10/10 recommend. Also tried the curry and the flavors blew my mind. The marsala uttapam was lacking. If you’re not into tart flavors do not get it. The pineapple ginger soda was delicious. Overall the plating was pretty and staff very helpful and friendly.

LOVE this place. This is delicious food which happens to be all vegan. Well thought out menu. You must make a reservation here as it gets very busy. We love Libby the hostess. She is always so helpful. I have sat on the patio and inside, both are nice but I prefer inside. I have had all the appetizers and many of the entrees. I have never had anything bad here and the desserts are delicious. They make the best ice creams and always have different flavors. Parking can be tight but there have always been spots when we dined here.

Hands-down the best vegan meal I’ve had. I had raviolis with a butternut squash cashew sauce, kimchi brussels sprouts, and the seitan marsala. (I was hungry…) Everything was delicious! The flavors, textures, and heartiness of each dish were perfect. If I lived in NC, I’d be here all the time. I’ll be back next time I drive through!

Plant is a real deal. If you are looking for a spot in Asheville that serves up some seriously delicious veggie-centric meal, you have to try this place. Whether you are vegan or not or just looking to a place to mix things up, this place is guaranteed to leave you feeling satisfied and smiling. Their mouthwatering seitan skewers to their cauliflower steak, every dish is packed with flavor and creativity. We have been there a couple of times now and there’s nothing that pleases me more than to experience a place that doesn’t let you down. Every time we come back it hits the spot! Trust me you have to give it a try!

Driving in from out of town and we’re looking for something tasty, unique, fresh, and friendly-Plant was exactly what we wanted. We liked the location, the atmosphere was inviting, and our server, Jessie, was friendly. The menu had plenty of options in small, larger, and largest offerings. Everything we ordered was superb. For dessert, we had the ice cream, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. I would highly recommend Plant and look forward to my next meal there.

Beyond, FAR beyond, my highest expectations; Plant obliterates the need for categories such as excellent "vegan" food, as it is simply exquisite soul-lifting food all around. I didn't stop smiling the entire time. Every dish had flavor surprises that were unexpected and welcomed! My finale, a chocolate dish and side of peanut butter ice cream, was simply to die for. The only thing I regret is not living close enough to eat here every day.

Nice place; it earned the approval of my non-vegan family. Don't let the simple outside appearance fool you, it has a good atmosphere inside and great food. Outdoor seating is also available. I found the portion sizes to be rather small, but the flavors and presentation were good, and it was nice to see some local ingredients used as well.

I wish I lived close, I would go often and try every one of their menu. It was dark so the photos aren’t good, but the actual plates were beautifully presented. The volume is a bit too much so I was full and took desert back to the hotel.

Deservedly high-end vegan restaurant in a go-to town for vegan food, yet prices topped out at 20 for our visit. Reservations are needed although there are 7 full service bar seats that might still be available. We had the Curry. It was really, really good.

Plant is my favorite restaurant in all of Asheville. Their cocktails are creative, the cheese plate is superb, and I could eat the Seitan Chile con Queso and the Actually Crispy Potatoes every day of my life. I love bringing out-of-town friends to dine here, especially when they're not vegan, because they're blown away by how amazing vegan food can be!

Best dinner I ever had. Amazing. We enjoyed every minute and every bite at this fabulous restaurant and felt 100% positive and invigorated after our meal. Really truly amazing. We had toast and curry with Seitan, lime basil drink and banana creme brûlée. Also, French pressed coffee with oat milk - Jessie was our server and we couldn’t wish for better - absolutely amazing, lovely and attentive and just pleasure to have around. His smile lit up the room and the food was absolutely delicious.

Plant is a wonderful and intimate restaurant that creates amazing dishes with fresh local ingredients! Their menu changes minimally but most dishes are incredible, their seitan is not to be missed! (I don’t typically even like seitan or imitation meats!) Every non-vegan I have brought loved it and rave afterward. Affordable and most staff are great as well. Sadly i have moved but I miss it so much that I thought to put up a review. Thanks for all that you do Jason and crew!

This is an outstanding restaurant. As a vegan the biggest challenge by far is eating out. Even if a menu item claims to be vegan it may not be because if it's fried or grilled and that place offers meat dishes you always have to ask if the vegan item is prepared in a dedicated spot and a lot of the time it isn't because restaurant s that offer vegan options don't do that for vegans they do it for meat eaters that want to try something different or want to do a meatless Monday etc. Think about burger king offering the impossible burger. They grill it right next to the meat burgers so there's your cross contamination so really it isn't vegan at that point but they aren't selling to vegans who only make up about 3 percent of the population they are trying to sell to the 97 percent of non vegans! That's why it was SO nice to come into a restaurant and order an appetizer, a glass of wine, entree and a dessert and not have to deal with finding what's safe and what isn't safe to eat because EVERYTHING at plant is vegan!!!!! In addition most of the items are organic as well . I had the Rabe appetizer and Moscato for a wine choice, the curry entree and then the peanut chocolate dessert. I live in Virginia so it's about a five hour drive but I guarantee the next trip down I will definitely be back. The waitress was also very sweet and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone ,vegan and omnivore alike!!

  • 3/5 Joseph H. 4 years ago on Google
The environment was nice and relaxing. The food was overall pleasant, however considering the price per entree and their accolades, I was disappointed. I've had better food for the quarter of the price. You could tell there was skill in the cooking, and it was fine dining for sure. But again it does not live up to the hype. I will say their starters were excellent, perhaps if they'd take the flavors from those amd transferred them to their larger, more expensive plates, I would have been more pleased.

GO HERE! I am an omnivore and thoroughly loved this restaurant. The food quality, preparation, and taste is artistry. My wife, a former vegetarian, was in heaven and called this food f'ing amazing. This restaurant may a bit more expensive than others, but, I can attest , it is absolutely worth every penny.

Creative and satisfying vegan fare. We shared the vegan cheese plate and enjoyed it. Not pictured was the rapini which I found a bit too sweet and salty, but my companion enjoyed it. We liked that the seating was outdoors and servers wore masks. Another portable fan or two would make it much more pleasant in the heat.

Excellent Vegan Food! Cheese made of plants?! . Yes, you read that right! They actually make cheese out of plants! More on that in a minute. . Last night we (@intentionalAdventure on IG) had the pleasure of dining with some friends (Rachel and Mark with @wanderfulway on IG) We were lucky that our paths crossed again in North Carolina and we met up for a dinner without kids! We have a lot in common and were thrilled to find out that they too love eating plants! 🎉🌱 . Rachel recommended the aptly-named restaurant “Plant” in Asheville, which is known as one of the top vegan restaurants in the country. After eating there last night, I would say they are pretty darn close! 😃 . Our delicious choices included: 🌱crispy potatoes with Italian salsa verde -this was similar to potato skins with a tangy sauce . 🌱wild mushrooms with potato and herb crust, cream cheese, yellow grits Calabrian chili, dried olive and greens; - a delicious southern grits dish with crunchy mushrooms! . 🌱seitan patties on top of a stuffed tamale with grilled romaine and cilantro mojo with “queso” drizzled on top. -This was a delicious southwest style “meat” dish and the seitan (wheat gluten) has a pork chop type texture. . 🌱plant cheese spread including: aged cashew cheese, farmers pecan and date cheese and macadamia ricotta. Accompanied by roasted garlic, peaches, pickled vegetables black garlic oil and house bread. 😮😍 . 🌱For dessert we had a delicious vegan creme brûlée! . Y’all! OMG!! Since we were serious cheese lovers before we went vegan, finding amazing plant based cheeses that taste like heaven is so special for us! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Who knew you could make delicious cheese out of cashews and macadamia nuts?! 🤯 . Needless to say, we highly recommend this restaurant! 😊 Look them up if you’re in the NC area! . Thank you @plantisfood for inspiring us with delicious vegan food! 🌱❤️

Absolutely love this place and the people. The food is DELICIOUS- probably one of the best plant-based spots that I have tried :) Due to covid restrictions, one of our reservations got mixed up and was cancelled. Wow! My partner and I tried Community Restaurant for the first time and we were honestly blown away! The pictures don’t even do the food justice because it was just the most flavourful and amazing meal we’ve had! We ordered the crab cakes, truffle poutine, vegan lovers flatbread and truffle gnocchi. You MUST try the crabcakes because they’re out of this world and my partner commented that the house-made mozzarella on the flat bread was “to die for” (his words not mine) 😂 If you’re looking for somewhere special to go that will blow you away with flavour, definitely give this place a try, you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Our server was amazing and she helped me and my friend chose the dishes as we were so confused. I tried their Burger(Crab Cake Burger) and the Patty is made in restaurant from scratch. It is so juicy and crunch and was delicious. My friend had Butter Tofu which is one of their popular dishes. Both the dishes were amazing. Loved the food and the ambience and will definitely go there again.

My partner and I tried Community Restaurant for the first time yesterday. It's great to have all-vegan restaurants to go to! We ordered the caesar wraps- the food was okay (the tofu was very flavourful) and portions were large. Unfortunately my partner found a human hair (a piece approximately two inches long) in her wrap. Neither of us could stomach another bite more after that and the rest of our $40 meal went to waste. Without the hair situation I don't think the food would have been enough to bring us back, but after finding the hair, we won't be back.

Got take out from here today. Service was friendly and the place is welcoming and elegant inside. We had the butter tofu and the Big Mac. The fries that came with the Big Mac were amazing, which is sometimes hard to come by! The burger was okay but the gluten free bun they used isn’t the best (it’s too thick and doughey). The butter tofu sadly wasn’t at all what we were expecting. We had hoped for a creamy, slightly sweet but well seasoned dish, just like the original (probably with a cashew cream subbing in for the heavy cream). What we got was an extremely spicy and oily dish that was noticeably heavy on the “garam” spices (unusual for a “butter” dish), and way more like a vindaloo. Would be good if we were expecting that but it just wasn’t. (I’m South Asian, which is perhaps why I had such specific expectations for this dish.) The rice was also undercooked (slightly hard) and watery. Side pappadum was great though, and the portion was very generous! I hope to be back and try more dishes, maybe our selections just weren’t the right ones today! I’d also love to dine in one day, given the elegant yet laid back atmosphere. Portions are very generous, prices slightly steep but not considerably, as they match the restaurant experience, and it’s evident that fresh ingredients are used and no shortcuts are taken. The many allergen friendly options are also appreciated. There’s room for improvement: maybe a new GF bun would be better (for ex. the one at Burger’s Priest is great, and vegan), and Indian inspired dishes could be altered to match their descriptions. A great place overall though with so many options; a welcome and special addition to Oakville and the GTA’s vegan food!

This place is a must-try. We ordered the sausage and peppers and the butter tofu and the food was amazing. They even went out of their way to fit us in last minute. This place has an awesome menu and looks beautiful inside! Great place for either a casual eat or for if you're feeling like a bit of a fancier dinner. The perfect environment to accommodate both feels. The staff are friendly and warm and the place was also very clean. Thank you Community Restaurant for bringing such a great spot for plant based foodies and delivering it right as well as setting a great example for the plant based food culture and how it's ought to be portrayed. - Julia and Jake

In times of pandemic a takeout is more than just meal after long day of work. It’s also a way to show our support to local restaurants. Here is why we are leaving only two stars: While dining-in can have a good first impression, takeout is stripped of the usual atmosphere and it leaves you solely with the opinion of the food We ordered two hamburgers with fries, mac & cheese and gnocchi. All meals were ridiculously salty (hence the first star taken). The gnocchi on top of being salty had a hair in it which is a huge concern hence the second star taken, and the hamburger patties are generic “beyond meet” which we overlooked when placing an order. The third star isn’t taken for patties though since it was our fault for not reading the menu but for the price vs quality and quantity. We payed $110 for our order (3 adults and a child) which according to our experience is much more than this mediocre meal was worth. We wish you all the best but we will not be returning.

I ordered standard options, eggplant with tofu, bean curd with veggie pork and Buddha's feast. It's abundant in their portion, rice choice and egg roll are included. Eggplant is undercooked and the veggie pork is not what I am used to. Besides that flavor is solid, standard Chinese food. Packaging is really awesome.

Everyone in our group ordered something different and then did a "family style" serving so we could experience all dishes.

Wow. Thai isn't my cuisine of preference, but WOW. I've never been so impressed with Thai food?? This place is amaaazing!! My brother is an avid Thai food eater and fanatic, while I prefer the now trending "American (New)." He asked me what I wanted for lunch, and I didn't really say, and we were near East Hollywood's Thai Town, and he mentioned this place. I didn't contest it

Wasn't pleased! The Soy Chicken Nuggets with Orange Peel tasted like sweet ketchup. There was no orange peels or orange flavor. Also, the brown rice was mushy. Surprised that rice wasn't included. It was an extra 95 cents.

We recently had an extraordinary tasting at the chef's table, along with the cocktail pairing. It was 5 courses, plus two bonus courses (items the chef was developing and wanted to share), and 5 cocktails. It spanned about 2.5 hours of blissful dining, drinking, and very friendly and informative chatting with the chef and his assistants. Whether you're vegetarian, vegan, or omnivore, I'd highly recommend Plant. And do the tasting menu! We've done a handful of tasting menus around the country and this stands out as one of the best.

Such a beautiful restaurant with amazing food. My server was awesome and made fantastic recommendations. Every tasted so delicious and the entire menu sounded and looked delicious. Really was a wonderful time and they went above and beyond to follow social distancing and cleanliness standards. A must visit!

Oh my god. Oh my god!!!! So delicious. Absolutely the highest level of vegan cuisine. I wish I lived here, I’d visit way too often. We had the cheese plate, a masala dish and ravioli. Each was better than the next. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone, including diehard meat eaters. Really, make a reservation and go. You will not regret it.

Just got back from an incredible dinner at Plant. The service + food was tremendous. You MUST try the cheese plate, the ravioli, and raw lasagna. Can’t wait to go back to this amazing place!

  • 1/5 Addison A. 3 years ago on Google
The food portions were way too small. I am use to smaller portions as I worked in a high end vegan restaurant that served a lot of the same style dishes. The grits were incredibly salty and didn’t have enough flavor. The French press coffee was $4.50+tax and tasted like gas station refills. The server was very friendly but the kitchen is borderline scamming people for $14 for a 6pc ravioli dish on a flat board in no sauce. If you are going to make a white truffle dish make it actually worthy of the truffle and make it a dish, not a sample.

Absolutely one of the best vegan restaurants I have ever eaten at. The place is a cozy little spot but do not underestimate it. You can try literally try anything on the menu and it will be amazing but their cheese platter is a must try !! Their service is just as fantastic.

Our experience at Plant was absolutely outstanding! The service was excellent and the food took our culinary experience to a whole new realm. The Chef was so innovative and creative, taking known and unknown ingredients and leaving one amazed at the flavor profiles. The cocktails were also fabulous and a perfect compliment! They were playing some of our favorite music and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We will absolutely be going back and often!

Best vegan restaurant/food I’ve ever had. Every bite had flavor and I wish I knew how to cook like the chefs here. The portion sizes are more than enough if that’s you’re fear with vegan food. If you didn’t order the tamale, you’ve made a mistake, go back and get it. It was an insanely well done flavor, authentic and much more.

  • 4/5 Daniel B. 3 years ago on Google
Quite tasty vegetarian food! We had trouble reaching them by phone. We decided to chance just going, so no surprise when we got there, no tables were available. Fortunately, we were able to take out the dishes we were interested in. The portabello mushrooms were done like steak with spinach, the indian food with chick peas hit the spot, and the ravioli worked for both of us. Was a nice finale to visiting chimney rock.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. My husband and I have been plant based for 2 years now and we live in Alabama... so we have no options around us. This was perfect. We definitely splurged. We got the cheese plate, the grilled beets, ravioli, tofu panang, carrot cake, blackout, and a pint of peanut butter chocolate ice cream to-go. Every single thing we ordered was mouth watering. I couldn't say anything negative about any of it. You must go here! We will definitely be back every single time we are in Asheville. Cheers to the human who created this beautiful menu!

I am recently a pescatarian by about 16 months. I have eaten at all the best restaurants in Asheville and this is one of my favorites. Even if you are not a vegan or vegetarian, anyone can easily appreciate the complex flavors dished out at PLANT.

My favorite place for celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Their food and customer service is wonderful. They hosted a private lunch for our family for our wedding and it was wonderful, my meat-eating family still raves about the food years later.

Beyond impressed! My girlfriend and I had the ravioli, grits, and carrot cake and we were blown away by each part of the meal. No exaggeration, this is some of the best food i’ve ever eaten. • 5/5 Jasmine P. 3 years ago on Google
Thoroughly impressive. The staff were friendly and attentive, but didn't hover. The pace was timely, but not rushed. Cute atmosphere. However, the food was the star of the show. The brussel ramen was delicious (although more akin to hot and sour), and the [vegan] cheese spread was delicious and well balanced. The tofu panang and the seitan chile con queso were superbly flavored. The creme brulee was amazing (the best I've ever had, vegan or otherwise), although it was served more in the style of a panna cotta. Portion sizes were generous, and prices were a bit on the higher end, though not excessively ($100 for essentially 4 courses for 2 people, with drinks). Worth every penny. Absolutely amazing.

Really one of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining at. I called a couple weeks ahead of time since I knew they had fewer tables due to Covid and received reservations with no issues. The hostess Ivy was very sweet and polite over the phone and Colleen was a wonderful server. Super delicious vegan restaurant! Flavorful dishes. Smashed potatoes were great (I mean they usually are, but the shallot butter Plant uses makes them taste AMAZING + super crispy on the outside). Vegan cheese was unique + very tasty.

Food and atmosphere at Plant are 5 stars. I have eaten here twice while visiting from Florida (February 2020, October 2020). Both experiences food wise were incredible and the chefs were very kind as we left. During my last visit, the customer service seemed to be lacking...borderline rude/condescending. It really threw off the whole experience.

I was amazed at how great this was. I don't find many fine dining options for vegan food. I may not be vegan but am vegetarian and struggle to find something impressive enough to convince a carnivore partner to join me on Plant didn't disappoint. The ravioli was amazing and the Chile con queso tamales were flavorful Great wine list as well. Don't miss the carrot Cake it was divine.

We only had one vegan in the group and the whole table truly loved the whole meal. You would never know you’re missing meat and dairy in your meal. The cheese plate was super fun to try and the ravioli is a MUST (we ended up ordering a second it was so good)!!!

Delicious food. Attentive staff. My daughter and I ( who are not vegan, btw) loved the cheese plate, ravioli topped with sautéed mushrooms and the carrot cake! It was so nice to eat at a restaurant where I didn’t have to worry about my dairy allergy.

It was difficult to choose a dish because the options looked so delicious. It was busy. We didn't have a reservation and put our name down for estimated hour and 15 minite wait. We went for a longer than anticipated walk. They held the table for us for 15 minutes. Love the open space and being able to see the kitchen staff work. The Applewood smoked mushroom was phenomenal, as was my friend's ramen dish. He's a meat eater and loves tonkotsu but was drinking the smoked tamari broth at the end. He loved that the bowl had more veggies and less noodles. Just wished the dessert had more ice-cream to go with the rich peanut butter chocolate fudge.

Have been trying to get in here for awhile now and finally had the opportunity to dine in on to celebrate my birthday. I have never stood in line half an hour before a restaurant opened. When it did open, more than thirty hopefuls lined the side of the building. Was it worth it? Best vegan food I have ever been served! A culinary adventure of the highest order. It is worth the wait.

💯 vegan 🌱 and Delicious! Ravioli is goddess, applewood smoked mushroom is heavenly good, Creme brûlée desert is like I need it. Toast is interesting as well. Damn good place to come back. Worthy to wait or reserve the table in advance. Cuz the place is popular and crowded. Guys, wish you to open more spots all over the USA 🇺🇸

I’m literally writing from the parking lot as I leave. This food was absolutely incredible, honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I would’ve thought I was eating at the Ritz. Went with my omni husband, and I’ve been vegan for 12 years and we were both obsessed. The portions were generous, and the favors were amazing. If you’re a vegan in Asheville this has got to be on your “must-do” list.

Great service, we ordered the ravioli (with a seasonal mushroom and chili oil topping), beet salad, and tamales. Would go again 10/10. The restaurant did a phenomenal job at incorporating complex flavors into every dish we ordered. This is not your typical vegetarian or vegan restaurant that tries to offer everyday food that’s been made vegan. Each dish is truly an experience! As a vegetarian I don’t find that often at restaurants and loved this place! :) also, don’t forget to make a reservation in advance!

When you read the reviews others have written that call this the BEST culinary experience they've ever had, you tend to be skeptical. But after an absolutely stellar dinner here, I can't help but agree - this is one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had ... and we've eaten all over the world. Not being vegan, and this is the first time I've eaten at a vegan restaurant, Plant has made me hope there's a vegan restaurant near our home in NJ that is even close to the quality and taste offered here. For appetizers, the ravioli was exquisite, the beets were seasoned and grilled to perfection. For entrees, we had the Total Raman and Applewood Smoked Mushroom Mole. I could have eaten several plates of each - absolutely fantastic. Niki, our waitress, was so friendly and knowledgeable about the food, I assumed she was an owner. She in fact was not but that's the level of service quality you can expect at Plant. If you're in Asheville, you want to eat here!

  • 5/5 Adam L. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely amazing experience. This is unequivocally the best dishes we have ever had from a restaurant. Chef Jason and his team really know how to create an experience to remember. Thank you for making our anniversary meal the best we could ask for!

  • 5/5 Rebecca G. 1 year ago on Google
Plant is one of the best, if not the best restaurant in Asheville. The food is fresh and ingredients are sourced locally which is shown through the quality dishes. I used to be vegan, but still prefer to eat/cook vegan most days, so I have such respect for this restaurant. I have extensive practice with cooking and baking vegan, but I’ve never been able to create anything that mimics their pasta or cheese board. I am happy to know that there’s no possibility of cross contamination since Plant is a strictly vegan restaurant. I appreciate how inventive and healthy most of their dishes are. I will say that getting a reservation is difficult since they don’t answer the phone and you must make a reservation in advance in person. However, there’s usually a spot at the bar available on a first-come first-served basis. The staff is friendly, but not overly so which could be off putting to some. But I think it’s because they’re always busy, plus it’s a rather laid back atmosphere.

My wife and I had dinner and were absolutely blown away. We had the Toast, cheese plate, and tempeh dish with a peanut butter cheesecake for dessert. It was all phenomenal and absolutely blew me away. Our server Niki was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and places around Asheville. We will definitely be returning the next time we're in town!

Amazing food. I want to come back to Asheville just to come to Plant again. The atmosphere was set so wonderfully. We sat at the bar and had a truly wonderful meal. I cannot even begin to describe how delicious it was. Two points for others who haven’t been before. (Not a bad thing, but just to be aware of): I was never able to get them on the phone to make a reservation. There was a wait to get in the door… and we arrived 15 minutes before it opened on a Saturday night. So people really love this place and are knocking down the door to get in. I can’t wait to return and try more of what Plant offers.

First, make sure you make a reservation through Resy! It was packed on a Sunday night. The customers service was awesome and our waitress did an awesome job accommodating us with no onion/garlic (Swaminarayan) options. She reviewed the menu with the chef and marked up what they could make (please see images). The Masala Uttapam was good, but the Seitan Marsala was not that great (texture and flavors were too much, also truffle oil tastes like onion/garlic). The Cauliflower and Crispy Potatoes were good, but would be even better if they had hot sauce without garlic or onion (Tabasco, Texas Pete’s, or even a buffalo sauce). Has house non-alcoholic drinks but don’t really recommend the Wellness Mocktini because the Tumeric was just was too much. The restaurant has a good vibe, but the seats were way close to each other and not very private. There is free parking available. Recommended for fine-dining if you are looking for someplace that can accommodate dietary/allergy restrictions.

as a vegan new yorker with high culinary standards, this place did not disappoint. absolutely incredible. all of it. would seek this place out on a return trip to Asheville.

  • 5/5 James S. 10 months ago on Google
Really impressive vegan dishes. Between us we tried the falafel, curry (which is essentially a green Thai curry), the ravioli, the matcha creme brulee, and the peanut butter cheese cake. All very unique interpretations with fresh ingredients. I would prefer the curry to have had some spice to it (I would give the heat level a 1/10). The falafel was served in a wrap in some kind of incredible take on a lavash wrap and worked really well. The ravioli with chanterelles mushroom was perfect and wouldn't change a thing. The real winner for me though was the peanut butter cheesecake.

I was traveling to Asheville on business and asked my friends and colleagues where I should stop for dinner. Without hesitation, nearly all of them told me to come here. Now I know why. To say I was blown away is an understatement. The food was beautiful, flavorful, and unique; unlike any other vegan food I've had. The staff was unbelievably friendly, and the customer service was unmatched. It's almost good I'm from out of town, because I'd blow my whole salary here! For reference, I ordered the mocktail martini, cheese plate, seitan marsala, and the matcha creme brulee. I can't wait to come back!

I have been thinking about changing my diet and becoming vegetarian for awhile now so I decided to try Plant since it came up on my google search for “nearby vegetarian restaurants”-Wow wow WOW! Literally EVERYTHING I ate was beyond delicious. I started with a Wellness mocktail which was refreshing, delicious, and aesthetically pleasing. The raw “lasagna” with their homemade ricotta 🤤 and ravioli was out of this world. It’s all so good you forget your eating veggies! This is a great place to eat that everyone from vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores alike can enjoy. That’s just about the food. The service was exceptional as well! I was greeted by Libby at the door who reviewed the menu with me while I was waiting for my seat in such great detail that I already knew what I wanted to order by the time I sat down. Her recommendations were spot on. My server AJ was attentive and sweet and my food was prepared in record time without compromising quality. I even had the pleasure of meeting the chef who was approachable and so humble about the masterpieces he puts on the plates. At the end of my meal I was so stuffed so I couldn’t order dessert, but was given a tasting spoon of chocolate pistachio gelato by Libby which was divine creamy authentic chocolate goodness without the dairy! It was such a treat to go home knowing that a meal that was so delicious was so healthy! I will definitely come again with friends and family!

WOW 🤩 This food blew my mind. By far the best food I’ve ever had. So much attentions to flavor, texture, and presentation. I took my partner there for her birthday, and everyone who was a part of the service make sure to show her some love on her special day. They gave us a free appetizer as well as a gift! A.J. was our server and was a delight. We will certainly be back.❤️🌱
