It is a good place to visit your family and friends. State Museum Hotwar is an Indian cultural museum located in Ranchi, in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The current secretary of the museum is Vandana Dandel. The establishment of State Museum in 2009 at Hotwar, Ranchi is an important step in this direction. The museum was built to express the cultural heritage of Jharkhand. It has ten galleries, and contains paintings by artists from many states such as Bengal, Orissa, and Bihar. The museum has a library that is well-equipped library and can house up to 300 people.

Follow me on Instagram:- @v2kaka •The museum is situated in khelgaon, Ranchi. •The infrastructure and management of museum is average. •I think Govt. Should pay concern and include more things in the museum as it's situated in capital city of Jharkhand. •If you want to know about the Jharkhand then must visit it. •Ticket fee is Rs 20-30. per head. •How to reach? You can take auto from khelgaon chowk to museum fare would be Rs. 10-20.

Museums are always the knowledge centre. Jharkhand State Museum is a very good learning place. There are almost 5-6 galleries of Tribal cultures, archaeological sections, numismatics, paintings etc... There is also a small library. The entrance fee is very nominal. One must visit.

I recently visited the State Museum of Ranchi, and I was pleasantly surprised by the rich collection of historical artifacts. The museum houses a treasure trove of ancient items, and I had the chance to see some beautiful paintings. The artwork was truly impressive. The museum also boasts a well-maintained library, where I spent some time reading. It was clean, and the collection of books was quite commendable. The museum itself is well-maintained and has a variety of ancient items on display. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and was delighted to see such well-preserved relics from the past. If you have an interest in history and art, this museum is definitely worth a visit.

The exhibit that I viewed at the Ranchi Museum of Art was one about Tribe Art between the years 1100-1500. This was a series of paintings, sculptures, architecture, and tapestry of the Medieval and Early Renaissance as well as objects from the Middle East. This exhibit was an important part of the history of the Jharkhand Tribe Museum of Art. It gave me a good idea of what the paintings were like in these four centuries and reflected ideas of both the east and the our old cultures . I also observed many paintings in this gallery. One painting that caught my eye was titled, “The Mocking of labours ”. It was an early 11th century, oil on wood painting. Workers and Tribe was seen in the upper right next to families and was surrounded by figured who looked more like friends than enemies that would crucify him. These so called tribes of our old era that were holding weapons and wearing bizarre headgear. In many paintings, Tribes had a saddened look on his face while the others looked peculiar . I was attracted to this painting because I would never have thought that paintings have this much of details that i could ever get.

Jharkhand is typically known as tribal state that holds numbers of communities and rich history. Ranchi as a capital has responsibly aided in proper conservation of chronology and culture of Jharkhand. There is immense need to protect ethnic souls of heritage and culture belonging to this region. Hence, government has introduced State Museum in Ranchi to preserve their heritage and culture for next generations to come. State Museum in Ranchi was established in the year 2009 by the honorable Vice President, Mr. Hamid Ansari. It is well manifested in the region of Hotwar showcasing heritage culture, tribal lifestyle, and artifacts revealed in excavation in Ranchi. It is very important place in terms of Ranchi Tourism. It houses one of the rare sculptures of ancient times that are iconic identity of Jharkhand. History of State Museum in Ranchi State Museum was earlier known as Ranchi Museum. It was established way back in 1974 in the premises of Tribal Research Institute placed in Morabadi, Ranchi. It was a rather small place to display such wonderful collection of Jharkhand. There was requirement of well spread out area to showcase the rich heritage and culture of this region. After becoming separate state, a notable development took place to move this historical museum at a new address. Efforts from administration have taken the shape of State Museum established at Hotwar in Ranchi in 2009. The new building of Ranchi museum or State Museum was inaugurated by Vice President of India. Attractions at State Museum in Ranchi In Ethnological Gallery they have displayed the lifestyle of various tribal communities that exist in Jharkhand. Their daily practices, agriculture, instruments, arsenals, tools, and other such things are showcased in this museum.

A museum and art gallery curated by Mr Bulu Imam, who and his sons, Justin Imam and Gustav Imam. Bulu Imam has been awarded padmashree for the efforts in the field of conservation of tribal arts and heritage in jharkhand. This is a nice museum where you can see the tribal arts, paintings, crafts and their culture. There is a mud house in the campus which showcases all the types of wall paintings done in Jharkahnd. Awesome green campus with soothing vibes. Must Visit 10/10

The place is good for people who love art and sculpture. Archeological geeks would also find their interests met. However maintenance of the building is low and toilets were unclean. Don't lose ur ticket they will ask u again and again at different entrances. However mostly the building is clean. Collection is good. There are paintings submitted by my school arts teacher as well, it felt good to identify their artworks. There's no parking available.

Awesome place, if you have interest in history and culture of Jharkhand, you must visit this place. Very well maintained.Showcase of different Tribal people statues , drawing and graphics from all over the state, coins of very early age, pictures and models of different places of all over the state are kept here. You get to see different sculptures from B.C. time. There is also library here which has large number of books on History of Jharkhand and India. Only fault is their way of display of such items, they can be more creative at setting the displays at proper place for rich visitor experience, not just as the case of showcase only just like any other museum. Overall environment around the museum is nice. Affordable ticket price, you have to pay more if you want to take photographs inside the Museum.

Not very big museum,it is medium in size I visit here for 45 minute and I feel that Jharkhand Government maintain it well. Here you see only state ruins and some ruins from other site. Very normal fee to visit there and extra charge for photography and the gate will open at 10:30 am. This museum has their own Library, people visit Library also, but only regular students have permission to read the book #LetsGuide

Wonderful museum !! Must Visit !! You will get to know about the hostory of Jharkhand and also about the primitive and leading tribal communities. Also various ancient properties are kept here which itself represents the culture of this state. There is also a library with many important books describing Jharkhand. Some students are also studying there ( dont know about the membership details). This place needs acknowledgement from people . Very less known place .Govt must advertise this place .

Very nice musium. Here you can know about jharkhand states tribes culture and history. Also there is a library where you can find all books realted to jharkhand hisrory geography, tribal culture and studies and also other books. I like the art gallery. But as compared to Bihar musium it is nothing. When you visit galleries there is very bad smell kindly maintain it. Government should invest in this and make it more beautiful because it reflects our states image.

Well, it was 3:10 pm of 25/08/2019 and was raining heavily in Ranchi, then we entered into Museum. To my disappointment, I was only the 4th entry in the visitor list but the museum didn't let it be. Basically, it has three galleries, two on ground and one at first floor. The galleries of ground floor displays culture and ethnography of different tribes of Jharkhand through statues, pictures, paintings, tools, weapons etc. One really get to know the simple but diverse life of sons and daughters of soil. The third gallery consist paintings of renowned local painters and trust me they were beautiful. Other room displayed various coins, artifacts and remains found and excavated at various places of this state. Finally after an hour, we came out carrying with us a nice experience. So, you must visit it at once!!

The Museum is divided into four distinct galleries—Ethnological, Sculptural, Archeological, and Painting. The two-storeyed building might appear confusing at first, but there is a logical structure to it. The first things one notices when entering the museum complex are the colourful and monochromatic murals on the walls, which recreate certain stories of the past; while the semicircular series of columns on which the sculptures are mounted indicate the stages in the evolution of humankind.

    (Translated by Google) One word after the visit is 'Its Incredible' or It shows the "The Incredible Jharkhand". Now know about this museum in detail- This museum is located in Khelgaon, Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, which is on the route from Ranchi to Tatisilway. In this museum, you will get a wonderful view of the history of Jharkhand state and the specialty of this state. The gateway of this museum depicts the change in humans from primitive times in the column. An adult person has a ticket fee of ₹ 5 to enter, while an additional ₹ 25 will be charged for doing photography. Inside this museum, a very good effort has been made to portray all the tribes of Jharkhand in a lively manner, it is worth it. Along with this, the profession (means of earning) of all tribes has been shown and their troubles have also been given a lively appearance. In many places you will feel like someone is sitting or standing next to you. Apart from this, tools, jewelery, utensils etc. used by the tribals are kept here, which are used in those times. There is also a separate chamber of amazing stones and sculptures found during mining. Here some very old pictures are also placed in the glass frame, which you will like very much. There is also a library in this campus, where different types of competition exams and knowledge books are available. Beautiful view of nature is also seen here. I think if you want to know Jharkhand then definitely come here. (Original) One word after the visit is 'Its Incredible' or It shows the "The Incredible Jharkhand".

A contemporary gallery is commercial or privately funded and usually has a second-tier status positioned between the first-tier status of a national, state-run or corporate museum, and the third-tier of minor galleries which include artist-run galleries, retail galleries, and artist's co-operatives. Commercial galleries are for-profit, privately owned businesses dealing in artworks by contemporary artists. Galleries run for the public good by cities, churches, art collectives, not-for-profit organizations, and local or national governments are usually termed Non-Profit Galleries. Many of these, such as the Tate Gallery have an aspect of charity and can be arranged around a Trust or estate. Galleries run by artists are sometimes known as Artist Run Initiatives, and may be temporary or otherwise different from the traditional gallery format. Contemporary art galleries are often established together in urban centers such as the Chelsea district of New York, widely considered to be the center of the American contemporary art world. Most large urban areas have several art galleries, and most towns will be home to at least one. However, they may also be found in small communities, and remote areas where artists congregate, e.g. the Château de Montsoreau-Museum of Contemporary Art (Montsoreau) in France, the Chinati Foundation (Marfa) in United States, the Taos art colony (Taos) in New Mexico and St Ives, Cornwall; (Hill End), (Braidwood) and (Byron Bay) in New South Wales Contemporary art galleries are usually free and open to the public; however, some are semi-private, more exclusive, and by appointment only. Exhibitions Edit Curators often create group shows that say something about contemporary issues or a certain theme, trend in art, or group of associated artists. Galleries often choose to represent artists exclusively, giving them the opportunity to show regularly. Some have a narrow focus while others are more eclectic. Although primarily concerned with providing a space to show works of visual art, art galleries are sometimes used to host other artistic activities, such as music concerts, poetry readings, or performances, which are considered performance art and at other times theater. While many galleries exhibit painting and sculpture of all types and movements like Abstract expressionism, Pop Art, Photo realism, Color Field, Minimalism, Lyrical Abstraction, Realism, and Postminimalism etc. Conversely, some works of contemporary art are not shown in a gallery. Land art, performance art, internet art, mail art and installation art and other emerging forms also often exist outside a gallery due to being site-specific. Documentation of these kinds of art such as photographic records, are often shown and sold in galleries however, as are preliminary or process drawings and collages (such as those generated by Christo as part of the proposal to governing bodies when applying to install land works). British artist Richard Long manages to combine his core intentions by linking the materials used in his land art, to make gallery art. Andy Goldsworthy does so as well.

A very well maintained and beautiful museum in Ranchi. It has a rich collection of artefacts, sculptures, coins collected from different parts from Jharkhand and India. The life of different tribal groups of Jharkhand has been beautifully displayed along with their history, culture and traditions. Freedom movement and Tribal revolts have also been displayed. A very informative museum. One hour visit is sufficient.

State Museum Hotwar is an Indian cultural museum located in Ranchi, in the Indian state of Jharkhand. The current secretary of the museum is Vandana Dandel. The museum's original name was Ranchi Museum. It was established on the premises of the Tribal Research Institute in 1974. Confined within the boundaries of the building, it moved to a new site in Hotwar, Ranchi. On 10 September 2009, the museum was inaugurated by Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari of India. The museum was built to express the cultural heritage of Jharkhand.[5] It has ten galleries, and contains paintings by artists from many states such as Bengal, Orissa, and Bihar. The museum has a library that is well-equipped library and can house up to 300 people.

An incredible place to visit. For all its simplicity, it has an enormous number of historical artefacts. Also, about various local tribes in Jharkhand.

The props about tribes and their livelihood is good. However, the entire place stinks because the central AC is not working and there are no windows. All stone sculptures are from 12th century only. The modern art gallery in 1st floor is interesting. Overall, worth spending an hour in there.
