Amazing food, some of the best focaccia I’ve had with a heap of great options. I had the zucchini and ricotta and it was delightful. Can’t wait to go back to try more

One of the best foodie experiences I have had in a long time. The owner was brought up with chefs as parents in Italy and then became a chef himself. Many of the recipes are from his family. His food is so authentic and delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The perfect Sunday lunch.

Simply divine. We drove all the way from Canberra to try the food at don Fred and we were not disappointed. I couldn't rave more about the foccace and meatballs we enjoyed. I will be recommending this place to everyone I know. The owner was also very lovely and a true inspiration.

We came at lunch on the weekend, the place had a nice buzz, played cool music and the owner was so friendly and welcoming. The menu had so many things on it I wanted to try. In the end we had the crispy zucchini 'Don Bun' (burger) and the crunchy schnitzel foccacia. Both were so nicely presented and absolutely delicious with unique and very Italian flavours. The chic mousse for dessert was perfection. I will absolutely be back multiple times and look forward to working my way through the entire menu!

Absolute gem of a place that outshines the endless other vegan eateries in the newtown area. Beyond being such a friendly, caring & hospitable person, Lorenzo has crafted each dish with so much enthusiasm, love and conviction that you can truly tell brings him sincere joy, and by extension to those who he serves them to. Dishes are remarkably well thought out and a truly unique experience and pleasure for vegans and non vegans that outshine the standard servings of branded mock meat and sauce and overwhelming sauce and cheese substitutes found everywhere else. Easily one of the best vegan establishments in Sydney, and would be well worth a visit from Vegans and non vegans.

Fantastic dishes and cool vibes. Sydney needed an all vegan Italian street food spot! You won't find their focaccia anywhere else in the city - I tried their special with ricotta, crispy zucchini and parmigiano. A very generous portion served by lovely people. Will be back soon to have a taste of the buns.

Super funky little bar, most of all the most delicious food, really unique flavours but still authentically Italian, these are not the kind of focacce you will find anywhere else in Sydney. You will find yourself coming back multiple times to try different menu items, it's really that good.

Great little spot on the outskirts of Newtown. I don’t usually eat vegan, but there was no sacrifice in fullness and flavour. Really affordable and really tasty. Its a nice spot to squeeze in a few drinks and chill.

On King Street Newtown, Don Fred stands out with its Italian menu that’s true to its roots and inspired by the elusive character of Don Fred. Lorentzo is an amazing host, brilliant chef and more than happy to share the story behind each dish. The menu is carefully curated and our favourites were the Konjacmari fried with the delicious seaweed tartare sauce and the Polpetz on Polenta (meatball dish). The drinks menu is also creative and refreshing with a Aperol Spritz-orange slushie hybrid that’s perfect for the warmer weather. Whether you have 20 mins or 2 hours, it’s a great spot to indulge in good food and drink. Don Fred is the place you get when you mix homey Italian, 1970’s New York and the essence of King Street Newtown.

Stumbled across don Fred when walking from Newtown back towards the city. We thought the interior was interesting so we gave it a go for a light dinner. All the dishes were excellent, but we particularly enjoyed the don burger and desserts. Highly recommend

Absolutely loved this little veg gem of a restaurant. By far the best focaccia my partner and I have ever had. The portions were generous, staff were so friendly, and well priced too. Can't wait to go back!

So delicious! I came here with my partner this evening and the owner was so lovely and the food was absolutely phenomenal! We really enjoyed the Konjamari, which was so amazing with the seaweed tartare sauce. The zucchini fritters were great as well. I had the Ricotta and Crispy Zucchini foccacia while my partner had the Crispy Zucchini bun - both were so so good. I'm so excited to come back, it'll definitely be very soon 😊

I love it so much that I can’t even describe how good is it in its accuracy. Lorenzo is a great host and he makes us feel like we are meeting an old childhood friend each time that we visit. The restaurant vibes is always cheerful, love the soundtrack. The food is incredible. The quality of ingredients, how the team prepares and plate it, it’s all perfect. How creative the menu is and always innovative, there is something new to try each time we visit. I can’t recommend it enough. Love all that they have but the potato and pulled mushroom focaccia and the konjamari salad have a special place in my heart and belly. Oh, and the chips, and the fried zucchini, and the mousse too. Never mind, I can’t choose a favourite, I love it all too much. Thanks Lorenzo and team for putting the best effort and providing one of the best gastronomic experiences one can have in Sydney. :)

A really lovely vegan eatery, an authentic feeling, warm and helpful staff and amazing food. I had the Rocket & Beyond Frocacia and can’t wait to try the rest of the menu!

Delicious! The best focaccia in town - and you’d never know it was plant based. Loved the konjac calamari and zucchini fritters too.

Absolutely delicious food. You can tell the owner and his team really care about the quality of food they are serving - and that starts with sourcing exceptional ingredients. So far I've enjoyed they pulled mushroom Focaccia from the specials board, as well as the Americano and Crispy Zucchini Don Buns. The Konjamari with tartare was also incredibly moreish. The food is seriously impressive, and had me planning my next visit while I was still eating. I cannot wait to explore more of the menu.

I love this place, it has an authentic Italian vibe and the food is incredible. I had polpetz focaccia, konjamari, orange granita and frozen negroni. The polpetz focaccia was an explosion of flavours, I really love the cheese in it, hands down the best plant based cheese I had so far. Konjamari was delicious, crunchy and I like that it's cut in small strips instead of large chunks like in other cafes. Orange granita was fresh definitely recommended on a hot day Finally, frozen negroni was what I was really looking forward to try and it did not disappoint. I will definitely go back for frozen negroni and to taste the other combinations of focaccia. Complimenti allo chef 🤌🏼

Hands down one of the best spots in Sydney to enjoy a quality munch! Serving up delicious focaccias and buns packed full of flavour, you can’t go wrong with anything you pick from their perfectly curated menu. Been here so many times and have never been disappointed. Do yourself a favour and check out the Polpetz and Ricotta & Crispy Zucchini focaccia and be prepared transported into food heaven! The place is also super cute and funky! A really enjoyable atmosphere to be in :) The owner is also so lovely- you can tell he really cares about the food he is serving. Can’t recommend this place enough! So yum, I’m still dreaming about it.

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
