Perched
on
top
of
an
island
that’s
home
to
the
Chao
Ley
people
who
are
famed
fishermen
and
pearl
farmers,
Wat
Koh
Sireh
is
a
stunning
hill
temple
topped
by
this
gilded
rock
that
seems
like
the
miniature
version
of
the
Kyaiktiyo
Pagoda
or
Golden
Rock
Temple
in
Myanmar.
Through
a
winding
trail
reached
only
by
hiking,
the
temple
is
the
highest
vantage
point
in
the
island,
affording
sweeping
views
of
Phuket’s
Old
Town
and
the
surrounding
islands
of
the
southern
coast.
Koh
Sireh
is
connected
to
Phuket
by
a
bridge,
so
this
temple
and
the
rest
of
the
island
is
a
great
weekend
discovery
when
you’re
in
the
vicinity
of
the
Old
Town.
