Worst vet ever. Super expensive compared to every other clinic near by. When you have an actual emergency, they turn their back on you, don't help, don't offer referral, just leave you in the dark. If you love your pet, find another vet. In response to ownerships response; I called and sent pictures of my dog at 10am - by 12:30pm I had to call myself to follow up. No one had even looked at my email even though on my call at 10am I was told to email pictures. When I followed up and the email was actually looked at - I was told it looks serious and I should see a vet. But then continued to say - we have no time you should go elsewhere. After being incredibly loyal to your clinic, even though it was considerably over priced when compared to your peers in the general area, for you to say that was disheartening and felt like a slap to the face. Thankfully I was able to call another clinic, to which a vet simply told me to wash it with antibacterial shampoo, and ensure he didnt scratch at it so it would heal on its own. Which is exactly what happened. A simple 5 minute phone call was too much for you after years of loyalty and over charging. My rating was more than justified.

Dr Emma Huges is great! Amazing vet, truly one of a kind. She’s extremely knowledgeable and patient. However you have to wait to see her sometimes months. The other vet at this clinic is not experienced or knowledgeable unfortunately. I wouldn’t recommend her. She’s available but not good. The techs are mostly nice, prices are average.

We have been bringing my 5 year old dog Phillip here for his entire life, and we now bring our 1 year old pup Glenna in as well. They both love coming in and interacting with all the staff. Everyone here is knowledgeable, more than capable, and very friendly and kind. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful place close to us!

We've been coming to Don Head Animal Clinic to see Dr. Hughes for 15 years with our chihuahua. Dr. Hughes is everything you want from a vet; she explains everything thoroughly, she takes time and clearly cares about her patients, and she doesn't make you feel like a crazy pet parent when you ask (sometimes ridiculous) questions. I would recommend Dr. Hughes to any pet owner.

Dr. Enna Hughes is truly a blessing. Her exceptional skills with dogs are unparalleled, and I have never seen my dog behave as well as when we attend our annual check-up with her. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

At first, we had a good experience with this clinic. However, I had to change my cat's family vet two weeks ago since they were inconsiderate and disrespectful. Currently, my cat is not feeling well, and we had to take her to a hospital. Before that, we had a question from the doctor in this clinic, and she promised to call us on the same day that I called. Two weeks later and I never received a call from the doctor. Don't take your babies to this clinic. They don't care about how much your little ones suffer.

This clinic has gone downhill in recent years it’s replaced it’s super friendly staff to staff who don’t even tell you what they are doing and just take your pet. Furthermore after my dog’s surgery the day she was suppose to get her sutures out, they said took them out when I asked them and gave her back to me but later I noticed they were still in 🤔 so I had to go back to have the removed even though it should have already been done. No apology nothing. Will definitely be considering getting a new vet where the office is more friendly

My experience of this clinic and my friend was and still is very upsetting. My friend had a great vet for more than 25 years for previous pets, then for her further pets. Even with vet moving, she still went long distance to that vet. The vet semi-retired, only continued appts 2 half-days a week. Given that her two cats were getting seniors, the long distance and only semi-retirement availability, reluctantly my friend thought it best to find another vet in the local area. She then tried two vets, had only one appt with first new trial vet (both cats a check up) and at a later date only one appt with a second new trial vet for her other cat. My friend was not happy with those two new trial vets for legitimate reasons. The 25 yr vet and those two trial vets had absolutely nothing to do with the matter at this clinic. Her cat that she eventually brought here to this clinic did not have that illness during those 2 trial vets, and it was not even this cat but her other cat at the second new trial vet in Richmond Hill (and Dr. Hughes and this clinic “knew” that). Her two cats were continuing to do very well (kidney disease in cats is common and cats can do extremely well for many years, even no symptoms for years, especially if pet parents well manage it, as both my friend and I also experienced before with pets). My friend’s cat developed a new illness symptom. (KD was still not affecting her badly at all). My friend was still without a new vet so she searched for another new vet nearby and went to this clinic. The whole long story is awful, such negligence by this clinic, and worse. Then additional pain inflicted by this clinic. After my friend’s cat’s death, she wrote a review. The clinic manipulated the review many times. The clinic responded with fabricated stories, ever changing their Responses. If my friend reported the lies and told the truth, i.e. that the clinic did not recommend in home care, they discouraged it, that my friend wanted it, they would alter their response somewhat, but just add further lies and continue distorting the whole story. It was deliberate, ongoing, harassing, dishonest, and abuse by this clinic. This type of harm without closure is forever devastating. I wrote above about my friend’s experience with previous vets in order to give one example of how the clinic misled. This is what the clinic wrote: “You came to us after 2 other veterinarians” My friend asked them what did that have to do with what happened in this case? She said that she had a vet for over 25 years that she was happy with, then went to two new vets trying to find a local vet, and it had nothing to do with this matter. They deleted her posting, and they then altered their Responses, posted: “You came to us after 2 other veterinarians in Richmond Hill, although before that you were with one vet for a long time.” Making it also sound as if that vet (25 years) was somehow involved in the matter also. What an awful thing to do. Obviously this clinic wanted to give the false impression that my friend was not happy with how two vets before this vet was not “curing” her cat, and then this clinic even “used” the info about a 25 years vet in a false way to further mislead and to make readers think she even left that vet because that vet could not do anything for her cat, and that then this clinic did everything they could also, etc. Yet this was not in any way AT ALL true. Every single further statement they wrote was a fictional story regarding diagnosis; specialists; quality of life; them doing what she wanted and helped in every way they could is especially false (they refused to listen to my friend etc.); they lied as to “why” my friend posted a bad review, it had nothing to do with the in-home blood test, it was done by others, in-home vet didn’t recommend that “to them” because they were not involved, the in-home vet suggested to call them for a tech to “aid”; my friend communicated concerns directly to them even “before” this. The “bad” review (painful) came after cat’s death and it was for very many serious reasons.

Since covid it seems our vets are overworked and understaffed, But at DON Head animal clinic they always respond to my phone call same day and if I have a last minute concern no matter how busy I get a return call from the vet or a technician . My bichon Maggie is older and more health issues are happening but they office always assists me and Dr. Hughes will call me back and discuss any questions I have or see Maggie last minute .

I liked this clinic. My late dog started there. They were compassionate when he was dying. I then brought my new pup there. I have noticed that this office has become too busy and the one vet I really liked was no longer there. A few times lately I was concerned for my dog. He was not himself. He couldn’t be seen and was told to try an emergency vet. That was disappointing so I found another office.

Update Oct/2021: I personally know of some bad happenings with this clinic. I have since noticed the process of the reviews with this clinic. After several negative reviews managed to get posted, there was an unusually high amount and high pace of 5 star reviews and 5 star ratings. Looks like bulk solicitations targeting for excellent 5 star reviews. Bulk solicitation “mostly” consisting of long time satisfied clients lucky enough to have had no bad experiences, with no new experiences or visits in most of those reviews. There then appears to be a deliberate attempt to target and counter the specifics in the several bad reviews that came up. Most newer positive reviews tend to have content on the same subjects as in these previous negative reviews (quite the coincidence). Yes at times same subjects can come up in reviews with opposite kinds of experiences, however that happens randomly. At other times, the timing, the specifics, and other factors can make it a little too obvious and connected, then just mere coincidence, whether all the reviews, negative or positive, are true or not. Then all of a sudden an unusual amount of unusual “titles” and “local guides” (which any of us can be at any time if we are interested in becoming an amateur critique as a hobby), with some stating what exactly? i.e. 4 star, looks like they are good vets, but minus star for parking. Anyway, I don’t buy a lot of it. There is definitely a loss of credibility here no matter what. I am very aware of some of the conduct of this clinic, and there are others aware of it also.

I recently started taking my two cats here after moving to the area. I have been so impressed by all the staff, techs, and vets at this clinic. Firstly, I feel they really treat my cats as the patients - which is what they are!!! They are so kind and loving in the way they talk to my cats, even though one of them can be very difficult and frightened and thus can be aggressive. I appreciate so much that they let me be present in the exam room (unlike my last vets) which helps keeps the cats at ease and makes the whole process much easier on them and reduces their stress. Their patience and kindness are so touching and they have been especially understanding about my wacky schedule as someone studying full time and working part-time. The staff are all lovely and personable and I feel their warmth even through their phone calls. I am really, really happy with my choice to take my cats here. I have had previous vets in the area where I took my brother's cat years ago who treated him like an appliance rather than a living being, and I was so nervous about the search for a new clinic, but at DHV Animal Clinic they will treat your furry pals with the love and respect that they deserve.

Best vet ever, Dr Hughes is the most caring knowledgeable doctor I’ve ever met. I don’t know what I would do without her help and reassurance. The staff here is all amazing they’re extremely helpful and very sweet. I’ve been bringing snoopy here since he was a baby and I’m satisfied every time. I recommend this vet to everyone. Definitely have no doubts about bringing your furry friend here. They will be in the best hands.

The staff were the most supportive and caring human beings I’ve ever encountered. Anjela with her knowledge and kindness and Peena (I believe was her name) with her warmth, also Christine and her effort to help and last but not least Dr Eric and his strategies and patience to address the issue fully are all wonderful! Recommended 100 percent.

The entire staff at Don Head Village Animal Clinic are soo sweet, patient, very understanding and most importantly empathic to your situation and your pets needs. No matter how many times you need to call for advice over the phone, or make an appointment they are the most welcoming. I definitely would recommend this Animal Clinic as opposed to others I have called. By far the best staff and customer service you could ask for.

My dog, Rocky had Dr. Hughes as his primary care veterinarian for over 14 years. With his health conditions, diabetes, old age, the level of care never diminished. All of the receptionists, doctors, vet technicians we have interacted with in the past 14 years had the highest standard of care for us and our loving Rocky. A couple of weeks ago, we had to let Rocky go and they were incredible the entire time - the explanations, the procedure, client services, they went above and beyond during every interaction. The amount of love we have for this vet clinic is unexplainable & I’m glad my fur baby had you folks as his primary care clinic for his entire life. Definitely recommend this clinic for your fur babies ❤️

Took our newly adopted dog to Don Head Village Animal Clinic and had a great first experience. The check-in process was easy by calling the clinic from the car, and got a call back from the vet shortly after, who was very friendly and knowledgeable. The initial bill was reasonable, hope it stays that way for future trips.

From what I can tell they are very good vets, my big beef is the tiny parking lot. There are less than 10 spots and if they are all full then you are screwed. There is an overly large back yard for dogs I suppose, but it could be smaller, allowing more space for a couple more parking spots. Again, they are good vets, with reasonable prices.

We have been bringing our new puppy and older cat here for some time now. Staff is always pleasant and strive to keep you updated on whats happening with your pets. Couldn't reccomend them more when providing care for your furry friends. With COVID protocols and everyone buying 2nd and 3rd pets, wait times are a little longer than usual but its worth it for premium care.

  • 1/5 Roberta L. 2 years ago on Google
For several different reasons we are no longer satisfied with this clinic for our pets. We won’t be coming back. P.S. With respect to the parking: Since we have been coming parking has been and is always the same. Quite a lot of parking available, more than most clinics. Even years ago there were times when spaces were available, and a lot of times when spaces all full, we would have to go on a driving tour, with our pets uncomfortable in the car, and there were plenty of times when we would go in and it would be overpacked, chaos with all the dogs and cats, long waiting periods, and a line up at cash. For a small general clinic with only a few vets, that should not happen. It happened too often for it to be for an understandable reason now and then. If it’s happening now excuses just don’t pan out as it has been a pattern for quite a long time. It is overbooking. Money. This is not the way to make sure that all the pets are being well taken care of.

We have been bringing our dog here for around 7 months now. They are hands down one of the best vet clinics we have ever been to. The staff respond same-day to emails with helpful and caring answers. You can tell they really care about animals here. It’s a tad on the pricier side but worth it for the level of customer service. If I had one complaint, it would be the phone system. There isn’t an automatic hold system and unfortunately they don’t allow people in either so you may have call upwards of 20 times before you get someone on the phone. Would be nice to see this updated so I can at least wait on hold instead of redialing over and over!

  • 5/5 Madeleine H. 2 years ago on Google
You won't find a more caring or hard working group of people! Excellent care for competitive prices. I have been coming here for 14 years and have never had any reason to complain or be unhappy. Highly, highly recommended.

Personally, I had a previous vet for Max and the didn’t care about his medical issues and him at all. I love how personalized our experiences at Don Head are and how much Dr. Kostiner and Dr. Velma care about my little pup. It’s so crucial for me to make sure he’s okay and I love that they’re on the same page with me. Thank you for caring about my little baby the way you all do. It’s such a great feeling to finally find a clinic where his needs are met.

I had to have my cat of 23 years euthanized. The process although painful was done with incredible delicacy and compassion. The nurses and vet were amazing. Their process allows for all the time necessary to say goodbye in a peaceful environment. This really aids in the mourning process. Im very grateful to them for allowing my cat’s last moments to be tranquil and beautiful. They made sure that she could feel loved and safe before the end. Thank you not only for my cat but for me and my mother as well.

I wish I could give negative stars. they wasted my time with their too restrictive policies. they wouldn't let me see how they interacted with my 2 cats. they don't want me to come into the clinic. why? maybe because they are treating the poor animals badly. but I'd never know because no one is allowed to set foot inside. they didn't even apologize for wasting my time. clearly they don't need my money.
