This was an amazing experience with our 3 year old son and newborn. This was a first time in Richmond, VA and first time at a children's museum. The museum did not disappoint. It was completely interactive and exactly how my son pictured it from the Blippi episode he recently watched. Lol yes, he, just like your kids, and the billion kids on earth, who are addicted to Blippi, had a great time experiencing what he watched on his laptop to become a reality. I thought it was really cool to see all the things my wife and I wished to have come to reality as a kid, was absolutely a reality for this new generation. Wifey and I had a great time also since we're kids at heart for life. Thank you to Children's Museum and Richmond, VA for making us love your city and everything it has to offer. We will definitely make another trip and stay longer next time!

CMOR is a lot of fun - lots to explore! We've been coming here for many years. The problem is, in those years - not much has changed. Most things are geared towards the 5 and under crowd too. I brought my 6 year old the other day for the first time in awhile, and while he had fun, most activities were obviously made for younger kids. We'd love some more learning things - just signs even on the given activities. He *loves* the water table - but he was asking how it shows the water cycle, what each knob did, etc - and I couldn't answer those. In the cave, we were trying to remember which were stalactites and stalagmites - nothing to explain anything there. Also, in the theatre area - there were only 2 dress up outfits for all the kids to fight over, and no puppets for the puppet stage at all. Super disappointing. All in all, definitely worth the stop if you're in the area, especially for 2 - 4 year olds. Just not much for over 5, and nothing new if you were here 5 years ago - you've seen it all.

Had a great time!! Tapped into my inner child and my daughter didn’t want to leave. Was nice to be able to get her out! Beautiful young lady always cleaning. Will definitely be coming back, my daughter loves the museum.

Price was not to expensive around $9 a person. There is a great discount if you are receiving SNAP or WiC benefits. You have to pay extra if you want to ride the carousel $2 a person per ride or you can buy an all day pass for $6. The signage said 15 minutes rides but it was only about 4 minutes so not sure if it was changed or something else was going on. As a family we went through all of the exhibits that were set up in about 3 hours. We spent 15-20 minutes at each depending on the attention span of the children.

This was a great little museum. We went after a long day of driving to Richmond for an appointment for my 3 year old daughter. We got there at 4pm and only had an hour to play. They give a half off discount for arriving after 4pm. She really enjoyed everything. I think it is DEFINITELY suited towards the younger preschool aged crowd. It has a nice outdoor area which was unexpected and also a water area you could play and get wet, if you were prepared for that. Since we only stayed an hour, we didn't get to experience the art center or the carousel. So I didn't give 5 stars because we didn't get the full experience. You can absolutely see and do almost everything in an hour or two, so I'm glad we went anyways even though we were short on time.

We went to the special need’s evening event and it was wonderful. We did find some of the exhibits had some accessibility challenges that could be improved, however, the experience as a whole is fantastic. The staff are amazing and so caring. The carousel is phenomenal including the way they can use a ramp for wheelchair access. (Extra recognition to the staff member running it for an excellent job! Patient, knowledgeable cheerful and handled a variety of customers needs with ease.). There’s a large age/developmental range that can enjoy what is there because there is so much imagination and self directed play encouraged even parents can have a little fun if they allow themselves to.

Absolutely fantastic place for kids! Our son had an amazing time playing and exploring which was lovely to see. Would definitely recommend for children of young ages (up to 10 definitely).

Traveling frequently with a six-year-old, we’ve been to many kids museums around the country and world. The best yet is in Mexico City. Children’s Museum of Richmond was an average experience compared to others. Here’s what our visit was like. 1) Cost: For two adults, one child, and one carousel ticket, the price tag was $30. It seemed steep for such a small museum. 2) Space: It’s one floor with many sections of kid-sized things like a hospital, a farm, a cave, a market, etc. Each room occupied our daughter for a few minutes. Most of the toys in each room were worn down and old. 3) Craft room: This was the trip’s winner! One massive room with tons of supplies from egg cartons to thread to googly eyes, you can create anything you want! 4) Service: Everyone was kind and friendly!

My daughter and I had a blast visiting the children's museum in Richmond! It was filled with fun activities that kept her entertained throughout our stay. We'll definitely be back next time we're around town - it's too much of a good time to miss out on!

My short-attention span toddler and I spent 3 hours here and she could have stayed longer! She got to dress in a space costume, ride a merry-go-round, buy and sell healthy fruits and vegetables, sell train tickets, ride the “train”, play in the dinner, walk through a cave, investigate dinosaur bones, milk a cow, conduct water experiments, and more. Her favorite part was the art area!! My daughter spent at least an hour creating multimedia art with repurposed supplies they had available. The art area is well organized and has so many supplies for creative children to use. We also loved the color-your-own dinosaur where she could color dinosaur pages and scan them in, then see her dinosaur moving around on the huge screen. So cool!!!

Highly recommended! We are two-time visitors with young grandchildren! A great time had by all! The museum is perfect for younger children, parents, grands, sitters, or guardians. Lots of educational and fun activities. Bonus: The museum is next door to the Science Museum of Virginia and Railroad Museum! Convenient to I-95 if you need a road break; even better if you're visiting historic Richmond. Beautiful neighborhoods and downtown...

This place is amazing! It's huge and is filled with so many things for children of all ages to do. I took my nephew who is nearly 2 here and we spent hours exploring and having fun. I loved how there was not simply one section for him to play in due to how young he is instead he could go everywhere and explore everything! Each area had levels of things to explore based on age so my nephew got to experience the whole building. Another favorite thing about this building is things are local from a local grocery shop and diner inside to the local news station and Amtrak. Not only do they have an amazing interior their outdoor play area is next level as well with jungle gyms and a water play area for warm days. There is an arts and crafts area as well where young minds can create with all kinds of mediums and materials and I love they have bins to use recycled good. There is a carousel inside that is 3 dollars a ride. Lots of open space and the place is kept clean. The bathrooms are spacious and also kept clean. Staff is very friendly, helpful and present you never have to go try to track them down. Admission is 9 dollars which is well worth it. You will not be disappointed with your visit here. I highly recommend it.

It's a good diversion for us as we're driving through Richmond. Lots of learning play for young kids. Like a lot of children's museums in the pandemic they are missing a lot of the equipment for the exhibits. I was impressed with the amount of cleaning done while kids are playing to keep them safe. Definitely support this place.

We had the greatest time at this children's museum. And the price was very affordable. Everybody was so friendly, I definitely recommend that you take your children here.

My daughter and I came here on a trip with our besties. The kids had such an amazing time. My daughter loved the tornado water and making her own puppet. You learn some really fun facts, and get to play doctor. A great place to take the kiddos.

My son and I love this place. There is so much to do there. We normally spend about 4 hours there doing all of the different activities. I would say the best ages for this museum would be from 2 to 8 maybe. I don't think you would be able to keep older kids entertained for very long there. Our favorites are the Merry go round, the arts and crafts center, and the water play on the summer time!

Affordable family outing ($9/adult), free parking, and a floor of activities. Ideal for 1 to 7-8 years old. Good for about 3 hours depending on Kids' interest and weather (nice outdoor area with playground structure, musical instruments). Better priced than most family museums but the infrastructure is less. For instance the water table is less engaging with kids (compared to other museum's water tables with ladder, funnels, jars, bubble stations, etc.) The building is also packed with activities and signs which can be overwhelming for lots of kids, as too much is harder to concentrate on what to play. It would be nice to have a dedicated non walker area (eg foam blocks near the entrance) with no shoes for babies with hands in their mouth. Carousel is $3/ride. Don't but upon arrival. The carousel only rides on the hour and we missed it every time.

I went here today with my family and had such an amazing time!! This is the perfect place to bring children to have fun, learn, interact with others, and burn off some energy!! There is so much to do and see there that'll keep children occupied for hours! All of the staff members were very nice and polite, the facility was clean, and it was a very reasonable price! I highly recommend coming here!

It is like an oversized indoor playground that allows the kids to engage and learn through play. There is a lot of variety so kids can gravitate to whatever their needs interests leads them to, and they can explore, learn, and play in any given setting as long as their interest holds them.

My 3 y/o loved it! I'm not sure if it has changed since some of these reviews but there was plenty to do! It was VERY busy on a Sat morning just after opening, but parents were being attentive to their kids and trying to share. Attached, FREE parking garage. Will be back, and want to visit the science museum next door!

There is so much to explore inside and outside of the museum. Found it hard not try out the toys and games myself. Loved seeing my son explore the under 3 year old farming area, the auto mechanic shop car, and the outdoor water park. Can't wait to take him again!

Fun place to take a child of any age! My two year old had a blast. Found myself getting excited about the various areas and activities inside and out. The music making outside, the under three farm zone, and the outside water park area were our favorites. Can't wait to go back for the water tables

I took my 2 granddaughters (3 y.o. & 1 y.o.) on a spur of the moment visit. What an amazing time we had. Every exhibit was detailed enough to give the best experience but not over complicate. I must take a moment and rave about the staff!!!! Everyone I interacted with was outstanding at their role. I didn’t ask for their names but the front desk/greeter, the carousel attendant and one of the art studio helpers were not phased at all by my super inquisitive toddler. Trust me they helped make the visit a positive experience as well. Kudos to them! I plan to come back ASAP with my all 3 of my grands.

My kids enjoyed it, but they quickly lost interest in the play activities. Medium size facility, but priced accordingly. Staff are very kind and helpful. Pretty cool niche items set-up within, like the ambulance and dispatch center and the news caster sections. The best kept secret is the craft section. My kids are artsy, so that kept their attention the most.

Best Kids museum I have been too. Great layout. Lots of different themed rooms. Grocery Store, apple picking, news reporter, dinosaur room, jungle gym, farm, ambulance, water section, outdoor park, and more. Our 2 year old had a blast.

A favorite of our granddaughter's. We love taking her here when we're in the area. Worth the price of admission! I highly recommend a membership. We gifted our daughter and her family one for the holidays last year. Great experience gift they use quite often!

This was such a fun trip to enjoy with my nibblings! The grownups had almost as much fun as the children! If I lived around here with young children, I'd join the membership.

👍👍 This place is huge considering it has a petting zoo/farm for the whole family. Walking around the whole park is great for picnics and great photo settings. The Japanese Gardens are great, colorful, waterfall so refreshing, fish, turtles and cute little bridges to cross. Great photo opportunities.
