Everything about this ship is very impressive! A must-visit when you are (or live) in Rotterdam. I actually live within walking distance and therefore have not stayed in the hotel but have frequently enjoyed drinks and lunches/dinners here. Every visit feels like a mini cruise... Highly recommended!

This is a very nice hotel that is definitely very 50s. The ship itself has an amazing history, and they have turned it into a very nice hotel. We could only stay one night and the only food we ate there was breakfast, which was rather good for a continental breakfast. Our room was an interior room so there were no windows or natural light, but it was still quite nice. Overall the ship is a nice place to stay for a few nights.

This weekend we stayed at this cruise ship which is turned into a hotel for the second time. Like the first time we really enjoyed our stay and the vintage vibes of the place. We did the tour of the upper decks this time which we skipped last time so it was nice to see some more of the ship. Also, kudos to the lovely volunteers who told us passionate stories about the ship and their personal life experiences. Gave 3 stars because for a 4-star hotel the service is not as good as you'd expect. The staff on the Lido deck is friendly but doesn't have a great eye for detail. On several tables (including ours) the empty glasses and plates were not taken away regularly so we ended up with quite a full table of empty glasses. Also the waiters got our order wrong a couple of times. The app from which you can order via QR also doesn't contain all the dishes on the menu. In our hotel room a hairdryer was missing and our friends who stayed in the room next to us had dirty coffee cups used by the previous guests still in it. We love this place and will most likely return again in the future but the staff need to up their game a bit. This may be due to the aftermath of COVID and staff shortage though.

Get the Rotterdam Watertaxi app and take the water taxi! We spent 1 night on the SS Rotterdam. The service is fantastic. Extremely kind and helpful staff everywhere. Great breakfast buffet. Best part was the boarding platform on the side of the boat to take the water taxi around Rotterdam.

What a great place to visit. Not only is this a 60s time capsule, where you wonder what it would be like being on a cruiser like this, but the whole experience is stunning. Food is good but what struck me the most is that everyone working there is genuinely friendly and helpful! Do not skip this opportunity when visiting Rotterdam.

My opinion is about SS Rotterdam, not a hotel. The old transatlantic is amazing journey into past. Just go there and walk a little bit on different floors. You don’t need ticket or anything, just walk. Or grab a beer in a bar. I really loved this 60’s interior design when exploring the ship.

We had a short one day stay here on a family stateroom. The ship is absolutely stunning! The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. Our room had a small fridge which came in very handy to keep some cold cuts. Highly recommended!

Great staff members but SS. If you see this please improve the following -You could use whiter towels and fabric softer so they are not very rough - You could remove mouth rinse cups from above the toilets and keep them out since the shower room is extra small...Above the toilet is backplash😔😔 -You could use a pair of disposable guest sandles -The towels provided were so brown I mistook them for floor towels but noted there was no floor towel either. -Would be nice if the capsule pod of the coffee machine is taken out and cleaned regularly But I also -loved the lighting in the room and the decor in the entire boat

Located out of town towards the south part of the city to be closer to the Feyenoord Football Stadium for an international match. Attentive service at the Lido Restaurant outdoors on the top deck and served good food with superb views over the River Maas. The ship and it's rooms are a bit old with dated hardware. Windows don't open and can be a bit claustrophobic. Breakfast buffet served was sufficient for our needs. A taxi to central station will cost you around 20 euros.

Amazing place to visit or stay! Rooms were a bit small compared to the ship size, but rest was perfection. Great place to also celebrate events. Must visit!

We really enjoyed the our stay. The are no very modern, but we liked it. Also the restaurant was very good food and service. It is great, you can take the water Taxi from the Hotel (Ship) to the City. We will be back :-)

Stayed here for 3 nights while on a work related course in Rotterdam. On arrival, I had a gentleman in front of me submitting a complaint that a member of staff had insulted him and his family. The receptionist seemed rather apathetic about it all and just took contact details, saying he'd pass it on the the general manager, not a good start... All in all, a very mixed stay. I didn't kick up a fuss as I was at the hotel for work and just wanted somewhere to put my head down during the night while I was on my course and get myself back home again. If I'd been staying on my own dime, I probably would have been very vocal about the issues I encountered. This hotel has so much potential and with a bit more attention for detail and possibly staff training, could be a very nice place to stay, but as it is, it falls well short of expectations.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the SS Rotterdam Hotel and had an overall wonderful experience. The hotel's unique setting on a historic ocean liner provided a charming and nostalgic atmosphere that truly made my stay special. The accommodations were comfortable and well-maintained. My room was spacious and had all the necessary amenities, including a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom. The nautical-themed decor added a touch of elegance and reminded me of the ship's rich history. One of the highlights of my stay was exploring the ship itself. The SS Rotterdam has been beautifully preserved and offers a range of facilities and activities. From taking a guided tour to visiting the museum and enjoying a drink at one of the bars, there was always something interesting to do. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive, always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. However, I did encounter a minor issue during my stay. The Wi-Fi signal in certain areas of the ship was occasionally weak, making it challenging to stay connected. Despite this minor drawback, my overall experience at the SS Rotterdam Hotel was delightful. The unique setting, comfortable accommodations, and friendly staff made my stay memorable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a one-of-a-kind experience with a touch of maritime history.

We loved the rooms on the ship. Everything was neat and clean. The only downsides: it’s a little far from central Rotterdam, dining room was full when we checked in, we could not get a water taxi, and parts of the upper ship with views was inaccessible.

We booked the New Year night. Including dinner, breakfast, Sylvester party and room. We arrived and the only normal bar open was the captains lounge. We got there, waited 20 minutes for our first drink and there was clearly not enough seating /staff for everyone. I finally managed to grab a seat when someone left. We Asked for the snack menu. The first 5 items I asked for were not available( we'd only been on the boat 1 hour). I asked for the 'borrel plank'. This was available apart from a couple of items. We asked for a cocktail, the bartender said there was a block on cocktails as it was too busy( the bar was half empty by this time). 10 minutes later a waiter came to clear our glasses away, we ordered a cocktail and it came within 5 minutes. They had booked us for dinner for 20:30(bit late and as far as i understood we could choose between several time slots) but that's all that was available. Whilst eating out starter, we were evacuated. Nobody can do anything about this, it happens. When we finally got back to the table, we were told the fryers weren't working and there were no potatoes/fries for our main course. We had paid 95 euros per person for the Sylvester Party, which was from 22:00-1:00. We didn't finish dinner until gone 23:00. Fireworks were great. All in all we had a good night and made the best of it. Food was good, staff were friendly but for almost EUR 700 for one night(including drinks) it could have been better.

Loved the whole experience, Lido grill serves a good quantity for price charged, you will not leave hungry wanting to go home and eat again. Really good steak, burgers and mocktails. The restaurant staff are dressed ship crew uniforms which was fascinating to watch. Staff are really friendly. The tour inside the ship was an extraordinary experience, especially at the deck. Would love to visit this place again and check out the Bar.

It was a fantastic place to stay. Everyone is so incredibly kind and eager to talk about the history of the ship and Rotterdam in general. The food at Lido is excellent and while the hotel is a little far from the metro, there is a shuttle available to take you over. The tour of the ship is a must. We will definitely come back one day 🙂

We came here for a high tea with the family. Great location, friendly service and the food was very tasty. We had some dietary requirements that they were able to take into account. There was a great variety of sweets and savoury items in the high tea and we enjoyed the fact that we were welcomed with a glass of cava.

A unique place to stay in Rotterdam, and we definitely felt we were well looked after. Just beware that it's not in a hugely central location and can be difficult to get to if you're on foot; Google Maps said there was a ferry, but we found it didn't run on Sundays. Fortunately a passing water taxi gave us a lift, but we would have faced an extra 30 minutes of walking if it hadn't. There's also not a lot of vegan options on the menu.

Unique hotel. Yes it is hotel on the cruise. Spectacular view. The Ac was leaking at the time. Probably due to tge weather. The upper side of the bed was slipery so it kept falling down. It was funny. But the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great

We went for the new year party. We went a few years ago so it was out second time. It did not disappoint. The atmosphere was awesome. The live band and the DJ did a great job. I will be coming back.

Perfect place with kids for a couple of nights. A hotel experience on its own with the feeling of a classic cruise ship while seeing Rotterdam. The water taxi starts directly from the ship. We also recommend the tour through the ship and it's machine room.

We had a great tour on board incl the upper decks and engine rooms! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, we even got some extra stories and explanations from some of the staff there. The engine room is very cool to see. We took a water taxi from the centre to go there (4.5 per person) and took their free shuttle when leaving, to go to Rijnhaven metro station. There is also a bus to get there but it doesn't go very often. All in all a great experience. We also had a high wine at their Ocean wine bar, I would really recommend it!

What a beautiful evening and what a good meal at Lido this Saturday evening... but our extremely noisy neighbors woke us up last night. The people in room 2066 repeatedly slammed their doors violently and spoke loudly in their rooms between 4:15 a.m. and 5 a.m. Totally disrespectful, it ruined our stay with you a little. At this time, I can not sleep anymore. Disappointment… More, ocean bar, piano bar closed…

Stayed at the SS Rotterdam for X3 nights. Surprise visit for my daughter's birthday. Great value. Staff are friendly. Rooms clean and comfortable. All amenities for a great stay. A little different from the ordinary. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend. So much history.

An incredible place. If staying at the Hotel onboard, the rooms are authentic, with many original fittings; there's a fantastic bar, again original, plenty of memorabilia dotted around and a restaurant that does the best cheesecake (the rest of the food is great too). The tours (2 different tours are available daily. One goes up, to the bridge, first class areas, etc., one goes down to the engine and machinery rooms) are also fantastic. Partly self guided, but primarily guided by multilingual guides who previously worked on the boats and are full of interesting anecdotes. Note that some of the more expensive rooms come with a free tour.

The ship that was build for the Holland America Line. Brought the emigrants in eight days to the US. Thereafter a cruise ship. All old sentiment and artefacts.are om board and the whole atmosphere is authentic. Even the steam engine is complete and could be functional according to the board engineer. Worth a visit. We had dinner on a nice summer evening, with BBQ and buffet. Very well taken care off and with friendly staff. Veggy beetroot burgers were available as well. On the fifth floor the view.st.the deck was great. Also a hotel, but I did not check the rooms.

The ship is absolutely beautiful. The location is great. The layout is a bit of a maze compared to the more standard hotels. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.

  • 4/5 Rick W. 2 years ago on Google
A great and unique experience. We weren't too sure about what to expect, but we are very pleased with our choice. The room is quite nice with a modern bathroom, and bed. Some of the fixtures like the chest of drawers (with a fold down writing desk) appear to be period pieces. The tv and Keurig machine are nice additions. The staff and the crew are so friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. Transportation was easily available by taxi, water taxi and a metro stop within a short distance of the ship. The only negative thing to comment on, would be the Wi-Fi dropping out on a regular basis. That may have something to do with trying to send a signal inside a large metal structure. Overall, a super place to stay in a terrific location.

Comfortable size of room. Very helpful and elegance crew on ship. Tasty breakfast with beautifull viev on Rotterdam. Good localization, near centrum. These was 2 unforgotabble days on this unique ship. :)

Was unique place to stay. Ship is still largely decorated mid century which I presume is in keeping with the ships original style. Room was spacious. Downside was it isn’t that child friendly (ie. no kids bikes for rent) and it is a little out of town. Recommended for a unique holiday stay.

  • 4/5 Robin K. 1 year ago on Google
We came for drinks and a bite on the Lido deck on the aft section of the ship. We ordered oisters alongside our drinks. The young folks in the restaurant service were clearly not experienced with that, a lot of grit in them from clumsy opening and we did not receive any forks, napkin or even a slice of bread which is kinda standard practice. But there was a senior guys who fixed that and the location is still superb so we weren't bothered too much by it.

  • 4/5 Richard S. 1 year ago on Google
Original plan was to come in for a drink. However, that turn out to be a perfect evening with dinner. The view on the decks were spectacular. Will definitely come again.

▪︎suitable for cruise ship enthusiasts Had a nice, cozy museum tour of this old cruise ship with a dutch tour guide. The spoken language was dutch even though they know they have an english guest so that was quite disappointing. I don't know how they group it since in the group I was in, there were only dutch guests. Fortunately for me though, I can understand some dutch but the rest had to be translated and explained by my dutch friend. The first half of the tour was with the tour guide and then we got to roam around by ourselves afterwards with the audio guide we received from the reception.

Water taxis are quick and simple, but it makes boarding a bit of a challenge. We toured the ship and enjoyed a most delightful atmosphere. The service is tremendously wonderful. Desserts are appropriately devine. Reasonable prices all around. I plan on staying aboard during our next visit to Rotterdam.

Lovely stay at the SS Rotterdam. Lovely staff, good room, enjoyed the Lido smoke house restaurant and the Lido terrace bar with views of Rotterdam. The Lido terrace bar wasn’t open after 5pm so couldn’t enjoy drinks in the open as the sun went down - that was a shame. A spa / massage / beauty facility would eBay great addition too. Really enjoyed the stay though and would have been happy if it had set sail for a few days such was the relaxing feel of the vessel.

Exquisite location! We did the full tour from a local guide. Very interesting to see to the engine room. Bars and restaurant had a fitting ambiance and the food was great. Staff was friendly though perhaps some where young and a little inexperienced. Did not stay the night.

  • 5/5 Jason C. 1 year ago on Google
Did the combined tour engine room and upper decks, which was thoroughly enjoyable. Guides very friendly and knowledgeable (tour in English available). Beautiful and elegant old ship (1959) impressive for it's day. Well worth a visit and located close to the Rotterdam Cruise terminal.

  • 4/5 Frido H. 1 year ago on Google
Nice historical atmosphere. Staff is friendly and service oriented. A bit understaffed though, these people have to work really hard. Very unfortunate that as a hotel guest you can only access certain areas and for the more interesting part you need to book a tour.

starting with the table, it is way too small for everything to fit on there. first, when we made a reservation, they did not ask for any dietary preferences, so we were stuck with the explanation that “we had to eat whatever was on the plate, as we cannot change it.” of course, with my nut allergy, i tried to find out which of the sweets were okay for me to eat, as that is the purpose of this high tea of course. i was stuck eating only sandwiches and one scone. the fruit was also rotten and very smelly. i had to ask three times about my nut allergy, but the first two times the waitress forgot. then she came back with the answer that she does not really know. there was only one napkin and nowhere to get new ones. our table even had less tea flavours than the other tables. to top it off, the tea warmer came way too late so we had cold tea. and the cups with jam are styrofoam. i do not recommend this as a luxury experience, especially with other experiences in this field.

  • 4/5 M L. 1 year ago on Google
Rooms are small. Portholes a little dusty and dirty on the inside. No tea making facility (coffee machine only) - read later (and only in Dutch) that it was possible to request for free. Breakfast buffet was good but I was a little put off by the chef behind the egg station who was on his mobile phone, eating bread and then peeling and eating a whole boiled egg in between cooking pancakes and making eggs to order ....please do this in your break time and not in view of the guests - and wash your hands after touching your phone!

  • 5/5 Benjamín Ubach N. 1 year ago on Google
We did not stay at the hotel, but only visited for the audio tour and it was incredible. The former crew members telling the stories of the different rooms in the ship. Thanks so much for the experience!

I had an extremely pleasant stay, like the many times I was your guest before. Pleasant, considerate, accommodating, well-trained and efficient staff. I have been sailing as a ship's physician with Holland America Line in the South Pacific in the seventies of the last century . For my standards the matrasses are far too soft. That is the only comment.

  • 5/5 Alex V. 11 months ago on Google
Great staff, rooms are clean and fun. Mini fridge and espresso maker were a great touch. Location requires you to take a water taxi or metro to get to the main city center. Their rental bikes were a superb value and the highlight of my trip to Rotterdam. The atmosphere of the ship sticks with the era in which it was used. It's fun to explore but most of the ships libations are catered towards children and the elderly.

SS Rotterdam offers a grand maritime experience that takes you back in time. The ship's rich history and elegant decor are truly captivating. From the spacious decks to the stylish cabins, there is a sense of nostalgic charm throughout. The onboard restaurants and bars serve delicious food and drinks with stunning views of the water. Whether you're a history buff or simply seeking a unique getaway, SS Rotterdam is a must-visit destination for a memorable maritime adventure.

A really fun experience to stay at a cabin. The beds were comfortable and it was great to have a view of the water. Beautiful staircase. Unfortunately some of the upper floors are not accessible to everyone as they are reserved for meetings and conferences. There are also several atmospheric restaurants and bars.
