Unmissable if in the area. Well kept courtyard (a cemetery in the Middle Ages) and sculptural columns. Now converted into an art space with a crafts shop.

Very interesting cemetery where plague dead and others were buried. Due to lack of space previous burials were dug out and the bones placed on overhead galleries around the cemetery. A major project is underway to restore the buildings so views are restricted at the moment.

Lovely shady spot to visit with a posh cafe and info and pottery studio. I spent a nice afternoon creating this 11x14” oil painting. JonBradham.com

Amazing history here, the courtyard school is a must see. Look closely at the carvings on the beams.

Worth a quick stop since it's free. Thought it'd be much more.

This was a cemetery in the Middle Ages but little is to be seen of that except the decoration on the walls of the court and a mummified cat in a glass window. It has then become a school and now it seems to be a meeting spot for art activities. There are boards explaining the history of the place. Unluckily the restaurant was closed as we visited.

Only open Tu-Sat. We were there on Monday and the stores were all closed. Interesting historical info of how the bodies and bones were handled during the Black Plague

Some nice carvings and old buildings. Reasonably well kept. Worth a look but not especially interesting.

Beautiful square that was used as 'ossuaire' (bones storage) and art school. It has been renewed after the school left, opening a gallery, adding some art shops and a café. A must see in Rouen!

Beautiful and relaxed place to see with a lot of history. It is an old burial place that is now a great place to go and have lunch. We found it by accident and I'm so glad we did.

Very nice courtyard with a cafe. I recommend you go look at the pottery expo as well as the "atelier" next to it! They have a "free pottery box" of pots they didn't think about selling, so that is fun (bowl in the picture was f r e e )

Interesting history of this place. There must be some guided tour which can lead you to the first floor.

History of the plague within an updated building.

The reason for this place’s existence is not very cheery - it was created as a cemetery for the big number of deceased after a plague in the 14th century. But it now is a quiet, well-preserved building with a lovely courtyard, hosting a small gallery and a pottery studio as well as a coffee shop with wonderful cakes 😊

When I was a kid we use to go at the Aitre Saint Maclou and it was gloomy and one could feel the heavy past of the place. The renovations surprised me but definitely did well in reconverting the space while keeping its essence.

Fascinating place with history woven into every corner. Workshops and shop balance the sombre history. Good clear visitor information panels including English. Further development planned. Well worth a visit.

👍👍 A chapel restored for opera concerts. Baroque, resplendent. Each concert is a real joy. Only one problem the armchairs. We twist and turn to see what’s happening on stage. Maybe by raising it a little more...

👍 The monument is impressive, the work of the stone amazed us, there are so many details on each element of the roof and the building is so large, we can only imagine the number of hours of work necessary to arrive at such a result. The bullet holes serve as witnesses of the fighting that took place a...
