The best family vacation place. Amazing hospitality. Clean rooms, great food and perfect location. I am still dreaming every morning their exceptional hospitality with smiling faces and the smell of incense during breakfast. They made us feel at home and stay longer than what we initially planned.

Definitely do not recommend the restaurant. After waiting 45 min to receive a cheeseburger it came out raw when I had specifically asked for it well done. I can also mention that I asked for it well done as I have heard that many have gotten food poisoning after eating at Hilton. This is not a restaurant service that equals the price. For a nice meal at a hotel, strongly consider Sheraton or Hyatt instead!

In comparison to hotels in North America or Europe this property is a failure; however, based upon African standards it's okay (but definitely not a value for the price by any stretch of the imagination)! As a Hilton Honors program member, I've stayed at enough Hilton hotels to make an informed opinion about this property; I hope that when I write the final checkout survey, someone who cares about the Hilton brand takes it seriously. After an eight-day stay (21-29 April 2022), I had a subpar hotel experience that left me bitter. The positives at this property are: it's a spacious property, there are many convenient services available on-site, plenty of ATMs, an outstanding pool-side cabana bar, the showers are awesome (plenty of hot water and good water volume), good people on staff, and plenty of well designed common areas. The negatives are: the property is older and needs renovation to the exterior, the pool is old and needs to be updated, the views from the top executive level exposes a clear view of an neighboring slumb, there seemed to be too much of an emphasis on tipping (a common thing in African countries; however, it seemed overwhelmingly obvious with a few staff members), and lastly, the air-conditioning in my room was very poor (the AC unit didn't cool well on hot days; I even tried to get the air-conditioning fix but that didn't work either. Therefore, I tried to change rooms to get a different AC unit; however, out of the four rooms that they offered, the AC units were all the same). In closing, I hope that my review helps you to make a better decision; however, this was my experience and it did happen. I strongly advise you to shop around before booking.

The staff from shuttle driver to waiter, room service, house keeping, restaurant staff and front desk were fabulous. The grounds and amenities were vast and a great overall experience. The food variety and quality was very nice. The room shows some wear and age but otherwise may stay was wonderful 😊

Cool swimming pool except for locker, shower space, and towel shortage at pick hours. A nice place for refreshments, and has a decent parking lot. Lovely serving crew but the demanding gesture at the security check-up points and parking area is repetitious.

From the entrance gate security personnel all the to the receptionists and housekeeping stuff are easy to talk to and eager to help. I started coming to the Hilton when I was as little as 7 years old and coming back and finding an excellent service, really, made me smile. !!

I really enjoy the vibe. Swimming pool is warm and clean. The poolside bar and restaurants have good food and drink choices. Hilton has one of the best Jebena coffee too by the lobby side. I love the architecture

(Updated review). Hilton has changed for the better since my last visit. Honestly, it was so nice! The male waiters are much more welcoming than the female waiters. I had a great time listening to the live music and enjoyed the food and drink! Keep it up! 👍

Hilton hotel Addis Ababa is 50-year-old but still beautiful 4-star hotel. It has a beautiful spacious and geothermal sourced pool. The breakfast was boring as it was the same menu every day. Otherwise, the rooms are clean, and the bed was comfortable. The fitness machines are old with some broken but generally it is nice. I recommend people to stay in this hotel.

Fabulous stay, a great location just 20min drive from the airport and close to several museums, shops and UN agencies. The staff are lovely, professional and attentive. The hotel is a real social hotspot in Addis, with families coming to enjoy the swimming pool for a very affordable day pass. Very comfortable rooms. The outdoor treadmill is a nice touch ! Would definitely come back.

It is more for politicians and foreign people that want to mingle with them. Swimming pool it to crowded and restaurants have less interesting food menu and the food actually doesn't taste as good at all. I like the fact it has great parking spot and conveniently located.

I regularly go to hotels and I have to say that the room, the food, the staff and the other amenities were all of excellent standard. The Ethiopian people are very nice and I (nearly) felt I was at home. Looking forward to another stay at Hilton Addis Ababa in the future. I was there from 29 August to 2 September 2022.

The moment you enter the hotel you can already smell the nice traditional coffee and feel the warm service all around the hotel.Very big outdoor facilities in the middle of the city with very nice and well taken care garden and landscaping areas. The gym is perfect with good variety of equipment. Breakfast has good variety with very professional and friendly staff. I dine at the restaurant near the pool called Gazebo with amazing poke bowls. I would recommend the salmon and avocado bowl. The staff is always very friendly and courteous. 100% recommended. Great stay. Excellent service.

It's a nice big property 50 years old..very spacious..lovely Ethiopian hotel staff. Very warm. I rate it 10 out of 10 in human interactions...although the rooms are not as new as other hotels in other parts of the world for the price of 250 dollars a night.

Service was horrible at the poolside restaurant. I had to correct an over charge for a food item I didn't order and was asked if it was still okay to leave it be as they've already put through the order. Local food options were limited to 2 options and the meat was tough and chewy.

Beautiful place, we loved our satay. Extremely suitable for family holiday so much to do for kids. The heated swimming pool is amazing kids spend all day, there is also a very lovely play ground, tennis courts and mini golf. The food is so good and loads of varieties. Breakfast was perfect too. What I liked most is the staff they are all so welcoming and generous lovely with kids. There is also a fully equipped gym and SPA. If your coming for a family holiday in Addis Ababa I definitely very much recommended.

Food and service great ... rooms leave much to be desired. The hotel is simply old, and it shows. Other hotels in Addis Ababa are much more modern and comfortable. However, and maybe this was only in my room, but there was a constant noise that sounded like a electronic notification that occurred every 45 seconds or so and prevented me from sleeping. I also heard it in the halls, and no matter where I was, it always sounded like it was just a room away from me, but it drove me crazy and I ultimately switched hotels.

The hotel is definitely vintage but it was lovely ! The staff were extremely friendly, breakfast was delicous and the outdoor gym area and pool area were breath taking! The lady who runs the store near the elevators was the sweetest and helped me pick out some lovely souveniers! My Only complaint is our group check took really long because the rooms weren't ready. But otherwise top notch !

We have been staying at Addis Hilton for more than 16 years. The staff members, the location , the hotel compound including the facilities are the primary reason we always stay at Hilton. The hotel has the most friendly and welcoming staff members that make you feel you are part of their family member. The customer service consistency starting from the airport shuttle service , front desk, restaurant, gazebo , gym and house keeping is a great testament for the Ethiopian hospitality.

Excellent location and magnific hotel. Has very big recreational facilities with tennis, squash, volley, basquet… etc. Perfect for kids and additional kids playground. The pool with geothermal water is a must to try. We had breakfast at Kaffa house and the service was excellent. Good food variety and service was very good. Lobby bar is great for evening drink. The hotel has refurbished guests rooms and they look stunning. Lobby has a very special feeling: the smell, the smiles… everything was perfect and a place to come back.

I used to have to visit this beautiful city quite often for business and would always stay in the Hilton Addis Ababa. It has some super amenities but most special was the wonderful naturally heated swimming pool. I would always make the most of the lounge for an aperitif before heading into town for one of the very many superb eateries. The rooms are comfortable and always clean (make sure to ask for one with a view over the pool, as you will get the best views of the city).

The level of customer service doesn't fit the Hotel.Specially the guards supervisor At my stay.I was having dinner at the reataurant with my wife at around 9pm and when we finished , we leave the restaurant and go to my car then my car was suddenly fail to start. We tried but wont work. The time was 9:45pm, so i informed to one of the guard that i shall came on the morning. The guard informed his so called supervisor and the supervisor told him that the car should not stay by any means !!!!! What a shame. we were very surprised and sorry for some short memory personels who cannot fit The Hotel. Even he try to threaten us by penlitis if our car stayed over night. Goddamnit are this guys normal ? What are they talking about. I'm sorry. Beauty full dinner ,, smart waiter with warm smiles, nice stay , but at last every thing changed to stress and anger!!!!!!

First they charge y $30 per person for shuttle. Taxi is only 600/700 birr. The the counter desk tells me hotel is full 🤥i only have the LUXE SUITE. Big ly I checked the next morning and that lady was honest $250 🥺 A night. Room 608 what a dump smokers smell was terrible. And the bath room was probably clean x-mass 2020. Furniture from.20 years and everywhere damages in the room and walls. A serious disappointment and not even worth 1 star.

The level of customer service doesn't fit the Hotels status. Especially the guards and coordinators inside are very impolite and sometimes rude. Sorry to say this but the way they treat the white and black customers is completely different. Since I didn't want to be biased by few encounters I waited without adding a review but i have seen similar issues with me and people around me. Please work on it.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton hotel from October 28th to November 1st, and I cannot express enough how impressed I was with the overall experience. The standout feature of my stay was undoubtedly the superb customer service and the warm, welcoming staff at the reception desk. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Every request we had was accommodated with a smile, reflecting a genuine commitment to guest satisfaction. The level of professionalism and courtesy displayed by the entire team was truly commendable. One incident that highlighted the exceptional customer service was our encounter with the manager, Daniel. When we faced challenges with early check-in and late checkout, I found myself on the verge of a mini-crisis. However, Daniel stepped in promptly, demonstrating not only his efficiency but also a genuine concern for our comfort. He skillfully navigated the situation and resolved it in no time, alleviating my stress and ensuring a smooth experience for our group. What struck me the most was the personalized attention given to our needs. The Hilton staff made our thirty-person group feel like they were welcoming us into their own home. This level of hospitality is truly rare and deserves special recognition. In addition to the outstanding service, the hotel itself boasted excellent amenities, comfortable accommodations, and a welcoming atmosphere. The combination of a well-maintained facility and a staff dedicated to guest satisfaction created an unforgettable experience. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Hilton for making our stay so enjoyable. Your dedication to customer service has left a lasting impression, and I can confidently say that I will be returning in the near future. Thank you for turning a business trip into a memorable and positive experience. Thank you once again for your world class service:)

Great hotel in town that provides an outstanding service. The Ethiopian airline service in the hotel is poor and very slow. They either need more staff or change the way they provide service to its customers.

  • 3/5 Lasse L. 1 year ago on Google
First let me tell you about the hotel's greatest asset; the personnel. Everyone does everything to ensure that you are comfortable and satisfied. A special mention to the lifeguards in the pool area who saved the lives of 2 children one of the days, impressive sharpness and attentiveness. The rest of the hotel is unfortunately really old and worn. The room is ok, you sleep comfortably in the bed. The breakfast was not so good. The cheese has been left out for too long and has yellow edges. Better was the fruit and the omelettes that are cooked to order. The food in the restaurant was quite ok, the price level was good. But then again; fantastic staff.

As I am doing my Africa tour, my visa for Kenya didn’t get approved on time! I ended up coming here. I was so stressed and upset, not knowing what’s going to happen next, but the staff and the management here went above and beyond to comfort me and help me figure out my next move!!! The amazing manager from Barcelona was so sweet, give that lady a raise!!!! You can tell she loves her job and her guests!!!! Thank you so much to the Hilton team in your hospitality!!!

The Hilton hotel scenery is majestic. It celebrated its 50th year in 2023, The Family and I Went for a swim then after relaxed with a steam and sauna. The swimming pool is still one of the best pools in the city. It’s outside, it’s warm water with jacuzzis in the corners and it’s large with spacious seating areas and small cabanas. (PS : if you just come for swimming you don’t get a locker to put your stuff in and change, you change by the pool and your stuff also stays there ) Food is not that great at the restaurant by the pool, staff forget your order ( we had 3 orders they brought us something we didn’t order for food number 1 & totally forgot order #2 and took an hour more to bring order #3). We saw this happen to almost everyone beside us too. When you come to the steam and sauna. The locker room is as old as the hotel, the spaces in the locker, sauna, steam and shower are compact. All amenities were crowded and you had to wait even to shower . (I guess this was because it was a Saturday ). They have to check what is working first before you pay 🤦🏾‍♂️ steam wasn’t working at the time. Price Swimming : 750 on weekday 950 on weekend Steam & sauna : 950 ETB

Great food and great service. The whole complex is a bit dated. The spa area is in particular need for an urgent upgrade. Dated bathroom with some humidity issues. Great size of room and comfortable bed. The biggest minus was that there is no possibility to change room temperature. Always stuck at 19.5 degrees without the heating working.

  • 4/5 Mia B. 1 year ago on Google
Hilton still has the grace of hospitality, although the steam and pool was out of service ; we were able to make the best of it by using the spa and message. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly. The food was great.

A rather disappointing experience, to say the least. The walls in the rooms were astonishingly thin, allowing me to hear every sniffle and cough from the neighboring room. The level of service provided was truly dismal, with one particular encounter leaving a sour taste in our mouths due to the employee's rudeness. There was several occasions when our food was brought out to us on dirty dishes. On third day of our stay, our toilet clogged, which was quite frustrating. Surprisingly, there were no signs indicating that toilet paper should not be flushed, especially considering it's a Hilton. However, the blame was placed on us by the facility staff, who repeatedly pointed to the waste basket where we were apparently supposed to discard our toilet paper. When we reported the clog, they moved us to the executive floor which was exactly the same as the previous room. The rooms themselves were gloomy and lackluster, failing to impress. On a positive note, there were some decent dining options available, and at least there were no power or water outages, which sets it apart from some local Airbnbs.

The place needs love. The heater was broken. I had the room heated up to 25 degrees celcius and it never went up past 19 degrees celcius. Room needs more lighting especially arriving at night and trying to figure out the light switches which is only for the hanging closet and bathroom. The building is old and not well maintained. Reception is great. Employees are friendly and try to accommodate everyone. The location is great, a block away from the Prime Minister's palace and the science center.

My family always loves going to Hilton in Addis. I also went several times whenever I go back home. Particularly we had an amazing experience back in January. My mom, sisters, brother in law, my friend and I celebrated birthday on January 23rd. We had lunch buffet, the manager made sure everything was done perfectly. I was impressed and proud to see such a great service in Ethiopia. I submitted a handwritten review at the front desk. It has been a while and forgot the manager’s and server’s name now, but still would like to say thank you one more time on google reviews. Overall, Hilton always feels home and the right place to take your elderly parents.

I had my wedding here. So many bottles of whiskey( Gold label and double black) were stolen and many bottles of tej was being hauled to the back by the wait staff constantly. I couldn’t stop them since I was a bride. They gave my family such a hard time. Plates of my guests were being picked up by the wait staff before my guests even finished eating. My guests didn’t see a piece of my cake. Hilton supposed to have international standard but what we experienced doesn’t even compare to a 1 star hotel. No one from the hotel helped resolve this matter either. I don’t know what to suggest for future brides so they don’t experience what i experienced.

I stated at this hotel on Dec. 2013, almost ten years ago. I was sent to the hotel due to an Ethiopian Airline transfer delay. I spent a day in the hotel. This hotel is not your regular US Hilton Hotel with a few tall buildings next to each other without yard. This hotel is about 60-70 acres with about 10-12 buildings scattered all over the property. Each building is about 4-8 stories high. Rooms are good quality, And service was great. The breakfast is this hotel was the best from any of my Hilton experience, better than anything you could imagine from a New York Hilton or Chicago Hilton. The only downside was that security forces at the front gate was 10-12 people strong with AK-47 in hands. In and out of the hotel security details was cumbersome.

Hilton Addis Ababa is my second home. I always stay there when I come to Addis Ababa. It is because of the safety, great service, fast Wi-Fi, nice location with amazing natural hot water swimming pool, nice pool restaurant, nice gym, laundry, ticket offices, banks, hair salon, supermarket and many shops. Since the hotel is at its second phase refurbishment, it will improve more.

As I understand, this used to be the hub of the expatriates here, but unfortunately is not like that anymore…. I stayed at Hilton Addis from Dec. 6 to January 4 and had amazing experience! As a diamond member, I have enjoyed staying at the Hilton worldwide. However, the people at the Hilton Addis always go out of their way to make you feel at home. Their service is exceptional; their hospitality and professionalism is unparalleled. From the front desk to the restaurant and house keeping, everyone is top professional. I always look forward to going back to Hilton Addis because of its employees. Top service and exceptional hospitality!

I had brunch and the food was delicious. The grilled shrimp is very delicious and fresh, salmon was fresh and tasty. I have a couple of recommendations when it comes to your brunch menu. For breakfast menu it will be nice if you can add French Toast, waffles, and bacon since you are a worldwide hotel I wouldn’t expect less. For the lunch menu it will be nice if you can add fried chicken, lasagna, and roasted beef will be a great addition to your menu! I wouldn’t end my comment without acknowledging how friendly the staff was; especially Serawt, she was very helpful in going above and beyond in order to accommodate some of my questions about my favorite brunch items and with the help of the outlet manager Mr. Muluneh Abebe They made my day. I would like to thank you all for the great service! I will appreciate if the management pays a little more attention to their restrooms quality and cleanliness and do some renovations. It looks like they are still in 1980s. If you have any questions please reach out to me.

We held our wedding at the hilton addis. Service was dire from start to finish. Check in took over an hour, apparently it hadn't been booked on their system properly. Great start. We ate in the restaurant for lunch the day before the wedding. Service was terrible and slow. A waiter smashed a glass down on the table so hard we thought it would break, also had to ask for everything repeatedly. We were supposed to have our wedding meal there the next day so we cancelled as service was so bad. I also got locked out of the room, cleaners were on the floor but refused to let me in our room, waved her hands at me and stormed off. Not great when you are trying to get your wedding dress on for the ceremony. The only redeeming feature was the wedding ceremony itself which they did do well. We went to the Hyatt for our wedding meal, which was fantastic. My Ethiopian husband said as we were leaving- thank god we are leaving this prison. Wish we had got married somewhere else.

Do not come here!!! Extremely disappointing. The only place in Ethiopia still requiring a mask. Extremely rude security guard at front. Got to the front to go through security and wouldn’t let our family come in without a mask which we didn’t have since no one else is requiring. Did not offer us a mask. Told us to go to the supermarket to buy a mask, which they are out of. Terrible service and terrible policy!

Great hotel with enormous heritage feeling. By the moment you are picked up at the airport you fell well taken care of. Service is great, friendly, attentive and the staff goes beyond their way to make your stay perfect. Iconic building, excellent location, and beautiful location. Thank you Hilton Team.

I did not stay at hotel so i am only rating restaurant. Was pretty good overall. Servers got a little overwhelmed when it got crowded but they were good. Bathroom was too far away and dirty but overall pretty good. Nice vibe with many internationals.

This hotel is the best one I have ever stayed, their customer service through out the hotel is amazing. Their choice of meals, the amenities, the neatness of rooms and environment, the silence of room environment to get rest any time are all really outstanding. I would definitely suggest to stay in this hotel if anybody is looking ideal hotel.

I would like to take a moment to thank every staff member - you are really HILTON standard hospitality. The history and the hotel is very beautiful and the location is so ideal in Addis Ababa. I would say the rooms need a little upgrade to modern Hilton standards but nonetheless - we felt so welcome and we will definitely visit again!

I spent two nights at the Hilton Addis. The location is strategic and the hotel provides a real oasis in the centre of the city. Plus, it's a hub for the social life of the capital and a charming reminder of how luxury hotels used to be. Still, the hotel shows its age and some of the old furniture (the armchairs in the rooms) is awfully uncomfortable. In addition, lots of the information you find in the rooms (regarding restaurants and other facilities) is outdated and the food choices are limited. On my second morning at the hotel there was no hot water, which caused, of course, much inconvenience. Still, the staff at reception made it up by allowing me to have an extra late check out and, generally, by being always very courteous and solution-oriented, which I appreciated immensely.
