This could have been a great experience but ended up fair. I went to this restaurant to relive childhood experience. The only reason I rated this as a 3 was because the side dishes we're okay. For me in any comfort food restaurant that makes boxed sides should really consider making homemade sides. Now the things I loved about the restaurant. The Fried Chicken Gizzards were supposed to be to taste but couldn't stop eating. The chicken-fried steak was small but was just as I remembered so for me it was great. Peach Cobbler was the way I wanted to finish my meal, it was excellent.

This was an okay restaurant. It is very affordable, but the quality of the food was mediocre. The lady that served us (Ella?) was very nice and tried to make our experience better by offering sauces.

This was our 2nd time going to Po' Folks and I must admit, the food is DELICIOUS! Almost everything tastes homemade and is seasoned well. I would say my least favorite dish was the Mac & Cheese due to it tasting as if it was boxed (t.v. dinner). Overall, this is definitely on my list to visit every other month (due to distance) for a good "cheat" meal 😋

I have never been so entertained during a meal. So first the entire restaurant is country themed. Which is absolutely amazing. There is a wall of old st. Pete photos that was really cool. The place was really busy at 830 pm. Our server was a riot. She took our order, and her book was a mess! So I was watching her write it in curiosity of how she keeps things straight. She write MP W. Mashed potatoes with white gravy. We get RICE!!! WITH WHITE GRAVY! I don't know if this was a prank or what, but honestly most hilarious night of my life. At some point I was crying from laughing so hard. My friend goes to the men's room and there's a GUN SAFE! in the men's room?!? Like what even is this. Honestly 10/10 for pure entertainment. At the end the server leaves like 2 tables dishes on our table to get our check!!! Absolutely amazing. Whole experience was just crazy. Counter. Food was amazing. Very good.

Po Folks? I didn't know they had a restaurant for people like me. I just did a counter to go purchase. My rating is purely for the quality of the food-which was far better than I expected. Really good battered fish and chichen tenders. I also love the train set and the country decorations. Their lunch portions are just right. Any bigger and I'd have to take a nap in my car before going back to work.

Absolutely loved it! Wish I would have gotten the waiters name because he was amazing. He was an older white man with glasses he was the best. All the employees were amazing. The food was delicious have no complaints whatsoever. Prices are definitely reasonable for the amount of food. We drove 2hrs from Lehigh Acres to go eat and this place popped up on Google so we decided to check it out. We're so glad we did. We have told all our family about this place and our experience so we'll Definitely be back. This restaurant left us with such a great impression.

Food was HOT, fresh, and a massive portion size for the money. Brought my wife and two kids on a Friday night. We waited ten minutes for a table, they were pretty well slammed. Micki did a great job serving us, and they delivered on the food and in short order... Fried green tomatoes, half a fried chicken, hush puppies, corn on the cob, and mashed taters were awesome and mud pie and blackberry cobbler with ice cream for dessert... Call me an ambulance, y'all, I'm fiddna DIE up in here.

August 11, 2023 5:15pm - Excellent service and delicious food. I can’t recommend it enough. I had the Pot Roast, Black-eyed Peas, Turnip Greens, and Hushpuppies. Hubby had the Country Fried Steak, Fries, Black-eyed Peas, and a Biscuit. For dessert I had The Strawberry Shortcake and the husband had Mississippi Mud Pie. Lordt it was amazing. Thanks Sheena for the wonderful service.

Perfect star for this place! After a long walk from our trip, we stopped by in this place for dinner. Something new, something that we don't have in SoFlo! We enjoyed the food. The ambiance inside is also great. We sitted in a round table, and the family had a good conversation while eating. The food are mostly friend, so we recommend you trying the fried chicken & fish! Worth it!

I remember Po Folks from long ago (80's), it was a great restaurant with everything cooked fresh. When I recently visited the Tampa area and heard there was still one up there I had to go. I started off with the fried mushrooms and horseradish sauce. It was good, and hot too. I ordered the fried chicken for my meal. The chicken wasn't seasoned at all, no taste what so ever, corn on the cob tasted like dirty dish water (you could tell they leave it sit in the pot all day) came with mashed potatoes. Not great My friend got the catfish without bone and traded me a piece for a chicken thigh (we don't give food we trade, lol) The catfish was really good, fresh and hot. For dessert I ordered a blackberry cobbler with ice cream. There wasn't a berry in site, just a purple colored jelly. Nasty Moral of the story, stick to the catfish.

Very disappointing. Service was slow. There was a now hiring sign so pretty sure they were short staffed. I ordered country fried steak with mashed and cornbread stuffing. Mashed potatoes were definitely flakes. Totally disappointing. Cornbread stuffing was good. Country gravy was bland. Took a bite of my boyfriends mac n cheese. Was bland. Looked cheesy but was not. My boyfriends corn on the cob had been sitting in water because it was mushy. Pretty much the only thing that was right was the stuffing. We were hungry so we ate it, but we could have had a better meal for a lot less money at home.

I was so excited to see a Po Folks after so many years! Originally from Indiana, I remember in the 80s this was my grandpa's favorite place! Broke our hearts when it was no more. Our poor waitress ran herself ragged! They just kept coming. The fries chicken was wonderful!! Can't wait to go back and try some pork chops!! Thanks for the memories!

Very loud when busy. Me & my service dog were welcomed, but I had to leave because I was still too overwhelmed. They were very accommodating & helped my family get out orders for takeout. The dinners were great & we will be back just at a less busy time

Perfect comfort food. Their fish filet and fried chicken dinner is perfectly cooked and the chicken is well seasoned and then batter is perfect. In recommend the fried okra and seasoned rice, as the steamed vegetables are just a tad too cooked for me. The service was fast and the servers are courteous. I really enjoy dining here every so often. I think you will not be disappointed

What a great nostalgic food experience. Took us back to childhood memories. The Turkey and Dressing was quite tasty. The fish was battered and fried to a crispy crunch. The hushpuppies were a delightful blend of savory with a hint of sweet onion. Shamekia, our server, was very attentive and welcoming.

I love getting take out from there. My fav is their ribeyes. Their hush puppies are scrumptious! There's so much of their menu I like I can't name them all, but I've been eating there since I was a kid. It brings me back in time. My grandparents used to take us there, so there's lots of history for me. Very nostalgic. Great food, polite service.

Not what we expected, in the best way! It was our first time at PoFolks, and I can’t believe we hadn’t been sooner. Despite being a chain, it had the feel of a home town locals-only spot. Our server Shameika was friendly, fast, and attentive, anticipating our needs before we ever had to call her attention. The food was delicious, homespun comfort food with generous servings and very reasonable prices.

First time there tonight....delicious! I had the sausage with red beans and rice with greens and hushpuppies...amazing! My husband got the fried chicken with stuffing, coleslaw, and hushpuppies....SOO good! We have enough for lunch tomorrow, too! Great server, very clean restaurant, love the old time and country feel to this place! We will be back!

I might upset some St Pete foodies with this shout-out but I’m really happy that I discovered PoFolks:) How can you be unhappy with a simple, old school southern meal of tender gizzards, chicken livers, red beans-rice, fried okra and blackberry cobbler for $18? Ask for Gingers section, she is a 10 hour a day hustler and as sweet as Po Folks tea! Both the service and meal were great:)

We get a lot of take-out. The first hurdle is getting someone friendly and patient to take your order....the gentleman was so nice on the phone, and the order was 100% correct. The check-out lady was also super-nice. The food was excellent for traveling as long as it did back to Largo, with another stop on the way home. See, if I'm close to that neighborhood, I will drive that far to get their fried chicken livers, catfish and okra, among other offerings, and yes, I know most food will be better eaten in the restaurant, so I don't expect perfection back at the house (quick reheat in the air fryer).....there is literally something for everyone here, with 21 + sides available!

Stopped here for lunch after a Drs appointment. They were not very busy. We were sat immediately. Another server took our drink order, but brought the wrong drink. When our server Sheena came to take our order, she corrected it quickly. The fried green tomatoes were crispy but way too thin, and not worth $8. The gizzards were fried properly but could have used more seasoning. The calabash shrimp was a little crispy. The country fried steak was tasty. The coleslaw was creamy. Okra was perfect. Green beans , ok. The cornbread was very good. Our service was great. The place has been here for a while. And is very dated. (Update on dated “response “) What I was referring about was the dirty old worn carpet, the chairs and tables need to be scrubbed properly or replaced . They have oily sticky worn spots. And the curtains could use a good washing! Light fixtures and windows. Need a good cleaning This is what I meant by dated. I hope the manager reads the update to his response. I was not referring to the decor itself. You could use a few days of DEEP CLEANING is all. We spent $38 plus tip on 2 people.

It has been a few decades since we have visited a PoFolks due to the closing of our location in Brandon FL on highway 60. It was a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant still in business. The food was as good as I remember. The server was very attentive professional and friendly. Our food was brought out promptly and hot. I look forward to returning to the st Pete location in the future.

Stopped in as we were headed out of town. Service was quick and the waitress was friendly. The prices were good and the portions were generous. Their blue ribbon chicken is exceptional.

Sorry but this food looks way better than it tastes. Lacking flavor. The gravy tasted like pure flour. The waitress was nice. Mac and cheese tasted like banquet tv dinners

I was hyped because of the PoFolks in Buena Park, California. The food was tasty and the service great. However, the portions were way smaller than the Po Folks in Cali, so that was disappointing.

food is really good and comes out hot. My husband absolutely loves the country fried steak and I really enjoyed the chicken gizzards and the fish dinners are good and I also like the fried chicken. The portions are good. I usually end up taking food home with me. our waitresses have always been attentive and are very good with service. The atmosphere is really nice. it's like a country setting and it's very comfortable. I would totally recommend this restaurant.

Looking for comfort food, this is the place. Friendly staff and great place for a family dinner. Amy our service exceeded our expectations .. she made sure our visit was the best experience we could imagine. The southern fried chicken was delicious. My wife had the pot roast and it was cooked perfect. The menu has all your favorites like grandma would make. We would definitely be back. Truly a place to visit

This place is amazing for the price. Their chicken is as good as anywhere. The staff was friendly and helpful. I didn't dine in but had enough of an interaction to get an idea of their standards. I was waiting and an employee came and updated me on the ETA, brought me a complimentary drink and topped it off on my way out. Tracy is amazing with customers.

It was the best experience I've ever had a chicken store. Not sure who was but it was a boss had come out in the back room and was told something as like the person was getting in trouble for it and the way the boss handled it was expert. That's what give this five stars Chicken store with an expert boss. Enjoy your chickens

I come here for the fried chicken or catfish fillets. Great food and service. They have a take out menu that has good prices if your feeding a family. I highly recommend eating here. Update July 2, 2019: We came to celebrate my wife's birthday. The server Brianna was new but you wouldn't have known it. She was exceptional and most importantly kept my sweet tea filled. When it came time for dessert they surprised my wife by a group of servers singing to her. They put a candle in a strawberry short cake. Her blushing and smiling ear to ear was perfect. Thank you Feb 2022 update: This is still number in my book for fried chicken. Many of the servers have worked here for years. I ate here last night and they sang happy birthday to 2 people with ice cream/strawberry topping and a lit candle. They are doing an excellent job with cleaning.

👍 Great ambiance and service! Drinks are delicious! Food is cooked to order, so expect to stay a while and food to take longer than what you may be used to. Flavors were a strong 7/10, just because I’ve more authentic flavors in other places. Overall a nice place to check out in St. Pete!
