I was here but did not know whether I was at Strelka Vasil'yevskogo. As you proceed from Winter Palace across the street you have a big view of the Neva river. Make your passage to the left and cross over a bridge and you will be Strelka Vasil'yevskogo Ostrova. Along the way, you can capture some beautiful views of the river, ride on a boat for a cruise, dine in restaurants, buy souvenirs, etc. You can spot many tourists in that area. It's a suitable and safest route to Peter and Paul fortress if you are traveling on foot.

Great view over the frozen river, and the nicest St Petersburg monument and building.

At this point, the width of the river Neva is about a kilometer. And this whole huge river in the frame of palaces! Superb spectacle both during the day and at night.

Amazing architecture! Regal and grand... huge selection of artefacts..some of the largest selection of money over millennia.. over 300 rooms and each is unique in adornments.. simply breathtaking...a must visit..

Great overlook of the city round about, best during morning for pictures so the sun is behind you to take pics from across the canal.
