Beautiful view, only a few parking spots, with picnic tables, some of them covered too.

What a dramatic place! Lived on the St. Lawrence River for many years further upstream, but never saw the river like it was here! Were there on a very windy day and the river seemed to be alive. Lots of wave action... Very muddy looking. Informative panels were only in French so I had trouble decoding them, but believe there was something about this stretch of the river having the strongest current (sure looked that way to me). There was also something about the path of the sun on the solstices but I need to do more investigating on the significance of that that. Worth pulling off the road for if you are traveling that way along the river.

When we arrived it had been raining for the last 12 hours or so. This was the first we made where we didn't get soaked. Break and stretch etc. But the views alone would be worth returning.

Halte des Piliers (Meaning, Pillar's Stopover) is a quiet area to stop and enjoy the wonderful scenery and landscape on the shores of the St-Laurence River and located just outside St-Jean-Port-Joli, Qc. Picnic tables on the site to enjoy quiet family time. At a distance your can see a lighthouse on a small Island named: Phar du Pilier-de-Pierre built in 1843. Worth stopping by.

It is a very interesting look out. Specifically the yellow stones there are beautiful. With river background the photo will be amazing.

The stairs case are made all by wood and contributed by the community of St-Jean port Joli. Once you are on top of the observation point, you will have a wonderful panorama...
