Wow, what a wonderful place. The food and service was wonderful. It was also the most at ease I've been in SLC given they are requesting all patrons show proof of vaccination. We could truly relax. I wish other business would take the same stance given the relatively low rate of vaccination in Utah. Thank you Bayou!

Everyone has been talking about The Bayou Restaurant for years now & I finally went with a friend! I loved the vibes here! It was very low key, not what I was expecting but I loved it! They have something ridiculous like 400 different beers to try. I had a Mountain West Sweet Alice cider. This is one of my favorites & when I see restaurants have it, I usually order it. My friend ordered an Arnold Palmer drink. He loved it! We ordered chips & salsa to start with. The chips were okay, but we both really liked the salsa. It looked & tasted very homemade. We shared a plate of the mixed sweet potato & regular fries. I ordered the Fettuccine Kileene. It was pretty good! I always forget that Alfredo sauce never saves well for leftovers. I really liked the artichokes in this gosh. The Alfredo sauce had really good flavor. Next time I want to try the pizzas! My friend Was torn with ordering jambalaya & the gumbo. They have a dish named Gumbolaya that he ended up ordering. The best of both worlds! He added shrimp to it & he loved it so much!! Spice levels were on point. Said it was by far his favorite restaurant we’ve been to. He can’t wait to go back! Meals are very large in size, we weren’t prepared when we ordered appetizers. This place was really good! I loved the vibes, staff was great & super helpful with recommendations! L

Parking here is a challenge unless you go during unpopular times. Their beer menu is insane, it's just missing additional l information such as alcohol percentage and IBUs, etc. The blackened salmon fish sandwich was okay and the Cajun chicken sandwich was tough and chewy. The mix of sweet potato fries and regular fries with the fry sauce were good. The beer however, was the best thing there.

We were in town for a few days to visit and with the reviews given thought to give a try. It was amazing!! I had the chicken fried chicken and not only was the chicken good, but the country style gravy tasted delish- it went great with the mashers and vegetables...oh, go with an appetite because the portions are huge. 👌 A side note; the Cajun half chicken and Bayou Fishplate catfish you can't go wrong either 😋

Can't wait to go back! Everything was delicious and the staff was amazing. Top that off with the amazing flavor combos on a huge menu and you feel like you're in heaven.

We just happened onto this amazing restaurant. We are from Texas so was a bit apprehensive about eating Cajun food away from home. Well after first bite we were amazed. The food was really good and authentic. Wendy our server was very attentive and made some really good recommendations. However for me the dessert was the hit. Had fried Twinkies with raspberry sauce and ice cream. Yum Yum 😋

Some of the best shrimp to be found in Salt Lake City. I usually get the shrimp po-boy or if I order something else, I get the popcorn shrimp as an appetizer. It is always a good crispy taste. The pasta and pizza here are stellar as well. The service is good and the restaurant is a local favorite of mine to visit. The atmosphere is a little flamboyant, but this is common culture in downtown Salt Lake City.

Let's face it....best Beer selection in Utah and beyond. While the menu is extensive and entrees are all Insanely tasty... the Chef can get creative with combinations you might be personally fond of. I had the blackened salmon on an awesome bed of greens (no iceberg) with Ceaser and Blue Cheese, cranberries, hard boiled eggs and bacon... not on the menu but sounded good and beat my expectations. Shared some gumbo and I was good to go...

What a gem! Incredible food. And Incredible staff! We tried the alligator cheesecake and it was really delicious! The Cajun Alfredo with blackened shrimp was unbelievable! Definitely go here if you are considering it. Get all the things!

We were told this place is a “must try” because we’re from New Orleans and moved to SLC a year ago. Service was great. Food is just okay. Gumbo was fairly good. Etouffee could use some work. Red beans and rice is 90% rice so that dish was a complete let down, especially for the price. Definitely recommend considering serving cornbread (with the red beans) and French bread (with the etouffee) for a more authentic dish. We appreciated the Crystal hot sauce rather than Tabasco! Anybody from the south knows Crystal is superior lol

This is some spicy filling food! It is the kind of food that tingles your lips and warms the body to the bone. The sweet potatoes fries were next level with the aioli fry sauce. Good lord! The jambalaya is the best in the valley I have had. Do bring your ID and I image during peak hours it will be busy, and for good reason.

Very good restaurant for lunch. Brew pub atmosphere. Good selection of drinks. Good menu. I had the muffletta and a cup of gumbo; both were good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.

What a great experience. I've been looking forward to eating here for some time. Having been born in New Orleans and raised on Red Beans and Rice I'm always curious to try different interpretations on a classic and The Bayou did not disappoint. Both subtle and flavorful with (almost) just the right amount of spice. On top of that, the staff was attentive and gracious and the atmosphere is lively and full of authentic character. Will be coming back often.

I loved the food, the Gumbo and salad I had was excellent. I think you should try it just for that reason. I recently traveled through Louisiana and I see what they are trying to bring to Salt Lake. I appreciate this greatly. I will definitely go back.

Best deal in downtown Salt Lake City. Reasonable prices including salads or soups. Cajun and non Cajun choices. Pork tenderloin was the favorite. Salmon, catfish and crawfish were very good. Avoid the gumbo: bad recipe and salty rather than Cajun Excellent atmosphere and Nic was helpful in choosing from the large beer selection.

I highly recommend visiting The Bayou. The atmosphere is great, the staff is spectacular, the food is delicious. My husband and I went here for a date night and couldn't have been happier with the experience. Our waiter Rob was friendly, fast, and had great recommendations. My husband kept commenting even after we left about how impressed he was with the staff. The eggnog cheesecake was such a yummy treat so if you're there around the holidays and it's available give it a try. Great Cajun food in the heart of SLC. Just know that you have to be 21 or older to enter. The parking lot is small but we didn't think that was a big deal. 10/10 recommended.

This place was sooooo goooood!!! Servings are large so beware I had to take a lot home. I ordered the seafood balls and the blackened cajun sandwich with fries. Seafood balls were out of this world and the burger was very well made!

A must-visit when I'm in town. Attentive and personable service. Great beer list for draft and even more so with bottles. Hearty portions left us full and happy. We doubled up on gumbo and main dishes, with enough to take home for another meal.

First time trying this place and was not disappointed. All menu items made from scratch. We had pork loim sandwhich and the grilled halibut sandwhich. 50/50 fries, half sweet potato, half white potato. Orders came with spicy Cajun dipping sauce. Yum! Dessert was scoop of vanilla ice cream with two hugh ginger snap cookies. They were amazing. Lots of beers and ciders to choose from, also lots of interesting cocktails. Definitely will be coming back next time we are in SLC

Oh how I love The Bayou. The 50/50 fries are nice and crispy and the dipping sauce, well, I could probably drink it. This time I got the gumbolaya, and it was even better the next day. There are SO many beers to choose from. Download the app because the menu only has a fraction of what's available. Other things I've had that I would recommend: artichoke dip, jumbal pizza, pork loin, and Bayou pasta.

Look I love side salads, but this my friends is not a side salad. This is a side of lettuce only. Like for real, a small amount of carrots, cucumbers, onions, something would be greatly appreciated. And the menu seems too large to handle. I came her for gumbo, let’s see if that’s any good. Once it actually gets here.

Service was outstanding. I really liked the atmosphere, which is pretty rustic. Very friendly place. I've spent a lot of time in New Orleans. So I was excited to try this place. Overall, the food was really delicious. The Alligator Cheesecake was outstanding. The savory flavor with the pecan crust was so good. It reminded me more of a souffle, just so yummy. I had the Cajun pasta. The flavor was excellent. It was done really well. So flavorful. The 50/50 fries were perfect. Great temperature. Great crispiness on the outside with tenderness on the inside. The crawfish etouffee was kind of bland. This is my wife's favorite dish when in New Orleans and this is just a little too bland. Overall, a fantastic place that I will visit again and recommend. Enjoy!!

Exceptional Cajun food in a hoppin place. We ordered the southwest artichoke dip and a couple cocktails to start and we’re not disappointed. Totally set the mood for the rest of the meal. Our server, Rob, was fantastic. We went ordered the Gumbolaya and the Bayou Pizza for mains. Both were fantastic. Only downside was the Caesar dressing was a little heavy on the anchovies, but that’s splitting hairs. The cocktails were awesome, they have a fantastic draft and bottle selection and the food was top notch. Highly recommend!

Insanely good food, amazing service, and great atmosphere. If you're looking for NOLA classics this is the best spot in Utah. They also have a huge selection of on tap beers and non-alcoholic options. We got the Gumbo and Gumbalaya and a non-alcoholic prosecco. No matter what you order, you can't go wrong.

The Bayou never disappoints! One of our favorite places to eat. The deep-fried Cornish game hen is to absolutely delicious and filled with flavor. The service is always great, too. Our server had extensive knowledge of the menu and beer list and recommended us a few great beers with dinner, too.

An absolutely delicious place for a heartwarming, belly-filling good meal. I got their gumbolaya and had a local beer, too. The meal came with sweet potato fries, as well as original. The place was fairly big, with enough seating for a family get-together. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was quick. I will definitely be back for another meal when I'm in Sakt Lake City.

Fantastic selection of beers available (everything from Sours to Stouts and most things in-between). Tasty food, but I'm not as familiar with Cajun cuisine so take that with a grain of salt. A handful of available parking spots in the lot on the south side of the building and there's street parking available on the streets to the north and south. Great staff, fast service, and nice decor.

First time trying Jambalaya. It was good. Tried popcorn shrimp, 50/50 fries, chickpeas and broccoli and cheddar soup

This place was pretty good but nothing fancy. My husband's meal came with a side salad, it was just plain lettuce. No croutons, tomatoes, cucumbers...just lettuce with ranch. The spinach dip said it came with crostinis but showed up with tortilla chips and my cajun pasta had a chunk of plain French bread. Would have been better with some garlic bread. The beer menu is awesome and I thought the prices were very fair.

Food was excellent but, no parking. Had to park 2 blocks away. Notice other people pull in could not find a parking space drove out and kept on going. Too be honest I almost did the same but, my mother and sister wanted to go there. Drop them off found a parking space and started walking

My husband ordered the gumbo and of course I had to try it. I was skeptical of ordering my own because I grew up with my dad spending hours in the kitchen, making the rue just right for our family gumbo nights.... I was worried it wouldn't be good and leave a bad taste in my mouth. Boy was I wrong! Not only was this gumbo delicious but it tasted so much like my dad's, it brought me right back to my childhood. I actually started to tear up while eating it. I've never had that kind of reaction to food before. Thank you Bayou for bringing back some beautiful memories of my youth!

The bayou is mine and my husbands go to date night Cajun food joint. We love the atmosphere and typically love the food even through covid take outs we have enjoyed the food. However the last time we ordered the service was subpar and the food was terrible. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and it came out burnt and RUBBERY being honest I don’t even know how this made it out of the kitchen as it was visibly burnt.. In the end I was not offered a replacement so I picked around at all the fries and left the chicken. ☹️

The food and service here was great. We will definitely be back. We had the jumbilya and the seafood balls. Both were delicious. The salad that came with it was weird as it was just greens and ranch with one large crouton. The ranch was good though. (On a side note: The parking was extremely difficult to get out of. The spaces are at an angel but you cannot exit out the other side. I'd highly recommend making them perpendicular spaces.)

This place is a really fluid environment. The staff has a wide range of personalitys and that is our favorite part. They are all so amazing and friendly and knowledgeable of the menu from our experience and I'm speaking only in our experience. The food is good. The mixed drinks, Well, they can use a little work, But still very interesting and for the most part, tasty. I do highly recommend at least trying this place. I am almost certain you will come back. TRY IT!!!! BY THE WAY! PARKING SUCKS!!!!!!! DEAL WITH IT!!!

  • 5/5 Teresa H. 8 months ago on Google
Ahhhhhmazing!!!! Every time we go here the food is 100% on point!! There are so many different drinks to try you would not believe it!! The black and tan is always a beautiful thing to look at, as well as drink. The crawfish étoufeé is incredible, as is the Bayou pasta!! The service is fast and friendly, there is free parking on the side of the building and the experience just must be, well, experienced!!
