Beautiful Chinatown gate situated near train station and Wat Traimit. If you are visiting Chinatown night market, could stop by here for a look.

It's crowded and hectic, but it's interesting. But why does it feel more like Taiwan than the streets of China? Some streets even felt similar to Kaosan Road. There is no single safety personnel who control the streets, so I think it's right to have an on-site patrol agent if it's a place where tourists visit so much.

One of the historical sites in China Town, Yaowarat Road. It's located near the old temple of the Golden Buddha statue. Very beautiful, free to visit. Walking along the road to other attractive sites is very nice.

One of the must sees when you are in Bangkok is Chinatown especially the Yaowarat road which is the Main Street with many many different stalls, shops, stores in an exciting and bustling ambience. The Chinatown Gate in the middle of the Odeon traffic circle marks the ceremonial entrance to one end of Chinatown. The gate is a relatively recent addition to the sights of the city. It was built in 1999 to commemorate the King's 72nd birthday, and celebrates the cultural diversity of the modern city. The gate was just one of the most notable projects that marked the transition of Chinatown from a rather seedy district into a tourist destination in its own right. That transition continues to this day, with the massive redevelopment of Wat Traimit and other projects. Offerings and prayers are made at the gate, especially during the annual Chinese New Year celebrations, which are generally centered around the gate. It's not unusual, although not a given, that the roads around the gate are closed during the holidays.

Pretty cool place, really massive gate with plenty of good angles that work great for photos especially with groups. Be careful when crossing the street especially if youโ€™re a tourist and arenโ€™t as aware of how Thai people drive. Overall a good place to visit and admire

Nothing too special. I was expecting it to light up once the sun went down but it didnโ€™t. This could be because of the gate being under construction. I wouldnโ€™t go out of my way to see this landmark.

It's under construction right now, but close to two amazing temples. I must see as it is the start of Chinatown Bangkok , on of the largest Chinatowns in the world.

Colorful gate but not easy to access as itโ€™s on the island among busy roads. Most visitors are for the impressive Golden Buddha temple opposite.

For those that couldn't have guessed it, it's a gate statue in Bangkok Chinatown. I know, shocker. It's a nice gate, nestled in between some streets, it features some benches and greenery. We visited after 6pm, when the main areas around the gate (such as the golden Buddha temple) were closed. To be honest the highlight was walking to nearby foojohn building for some lovely dinner.

Impressive gateway into Chinatown. There was a big festival going on at the time of our visit so it was difficult to see the gate fully but nevertheless an excellent place to enter Chinatown

Not far from Hua Lamphong train and metro stations. It is in the middle of a roundabout. You can cross the road for a closer look. (be careful when crossing). A great gateway attraction for entering Chinatown.

One of the most exciting things in my life. I have waited for the Princess of Thailand to show up here. The crowd was huge and we all stood still in the sun without even thinking about our own lifes... We just knew that we had to see the Princess. Finally she came and there was a welcoming ceremony. And the gate itself started to shine even brighter :)

China town night market is so lit, a must visit. There are so many street food stalls and you can eat our heart out with really cheap prices and a variety of cuisine. All the food we tried tastes amazing and the night market was very lively and vibrant

Iconic gate to start our journey in the Chinatown Bangkok, when we get here in Late November 2023 it still under renovation.

  • 4/5 Zenov Y. 3 years ago on Google
The Chinatown Gate stood firmly in the middle of a huge roundabout at the entrance of Yaowarat Road (if you come from the direction of Hua Lamphong station), lit up by perhaps a 1000 watts of flood lights, as though the management was afraid that tourists would miss out such an imposing structure.

  • 5/5 Rumple S. 9 months ago on Google
There isn't much to say about this place. It starts the Chinatown District and that's about it. Lot of touristy souvenirs and overpriced food that you would find in any tourist area.

Gate to enter of china town. Its still takes a long way to reach the center of china town though. Thereโ€™s nothing here, only the gate and the rabbit statue. Its in front of the golden statue Buddha temple so its easy to find.

Must visit and have meal there. The crowded main is walkable distance. Easy to get Grab at the junction near 7/11.

  • 5/5 w c. 5 years ago on Google
You can accomplish 2 tourist spots at the same time coming here. The Golden Buddha Temple is just across the street from the China Town Gate. You can use the traffic light to walk across to the semi-roundabout. Look up at the intricate carvings on the gate. Stroll into Chinatown. There is a small back alley to walk through. The smell from the dried seafoods may not be acceptable to everyone's senses, but you get an idea of what they catch from the surrounding rivers and seas.

Located just a few hundred metres from Chinatown, visiting this place is a must if you're planning to go to Yaowarat Road! It's also a great spot for photography at night. It's even better if you photograph it from Odean Parking Lot as it gives you a vantage point, but the guards aren't likely to let you in with a tripod/camera equipment.

Not really the entrance, more an touristic landmark. Located on a very busy roundabout. Not easy to access or cross the street here.

I like that place especially before sunset. Was lucky enough to be at right time and to take cool shot.

Built in 1999 in honor of King Adulyadej, this ornate gate marks the entrance to Chinatown. If you come to Thailand China Town is a must visit place and you can buy lots of stuff (wholesale) for a cheaper price. So if you come there using MRT from Hualamphong Station it's walking distance to the China Town Gate. You can capture some photos there as it is a land mark and then you can walk to china town to explore more.

  • 3/5 Shailesh P. 1 year ago on Google
It's a small gte created at junction of the roads. Not a tourist's attraction but many China business outlets are available in area so I believe this gate is created. It's clean and non-populated location, can be simply witnessed just while passing from the street.

We walked around on our way to Chinatown and it was a nice gate. We met a man there who was very kind talking and showing us more about their religion. It was a nice talk.
