Enjoyed our visit to this museum where you will not only learn about jade but also about how various cultures used and appreciated the gem. Quite interesting. The museum store sells real jade so don't expect street and market prices. Low entrance fee. Allow one to 1.5 hours.

This is basically a huge jade shop. The displays are not well done. It looks a bit like a children's project. Also the English translation book that they give you is not the same as what is written on the actual displays. Many lightbulbs blown in displays . I found it tacky and cheap looking and it did not honor the beautiful jade work that was trying to be represented. Disappointing.

I don't know why this place got low reviews. It was small and yes, the pieces are reproductions, but it was highly informative and a fascinting blend of mesoamerican and geological history. They even had an English booklet to translate all the signs. There's a replication of Pakal's funeral tomb at the back which was also beautiful both for history buffs and the casual visitor alike. The gift shop was very expensive but treated like an extension of the museum (especially with the live, built-workshop) it was lovely to look at. Plus you get a discount at the Kakao museum with your ticket from here which makes for a nice afternoon combined.

This small museum provides very interesting information about a lengthy history of Jade including the many varieties of jade. Knowing how to read Spanish helps.

Lots of pre-Columbian examples of jade statues, masks, figurines. Worth the 30 pesos. Much more than the pics posted.

Like the previous reviewers state, the museum is closed due to relocating. They only have the Jade and Kakaw shop opened.

The place is ok, they have ambar jewelry inside for sale. It is run down, looks like they don't clean up much.

Great place with outstanding jewelry. The museum was pretty cool. Only down side, they open late and close early. Difficult to shop during their hours.

Very interesting history of the use of jade by Mesoamerican cultures. The signs are all in Spanish but they have a packet of the English translation that you can take around.

If you are not there to buy anything, the explanation on the wall in the entrance is all you need

15 pesos for a very interesting little expo with a real-life replica of a Maya tombe found in Palenque.

Beautiful collection of Jade objects from all periods of history, including some from ancient times. Well presented exhibits and full details in Spanish. An English version is available in a free guide. Huge store has fabulous collection of quality Jade jewelry for sale, as well as pieces with other previous and semi-precious stones. Prices seem reasonable for the quality. 30 peso entry ticket also good for admission at Kawkaw cacao museum around the corner.

Definitely a must-see! This place will put you in a different era and the craftsmanship of the Jade will make your eyes tear up. Take time to read the plaques and learn the history of the pieces. They encouraged me to take pictures.

Pretty poor mueum, would have been ok if it was free (like the museo de textiles) not worth the 30 peso entrance fee. Sone interesting pieces of Jade but it appears to be more about the shop!

👍👍 A fascinating and delightful insight into cacao and it's history in Meso America. Our tour guide Mayaria gave an exceptional experience, chocolate tasting and answered all our questions. Time well spent, and worth every penny.
