I was charged over $400 for 4 total classes and the same thing might happen to you if you join this location. In my case, I made it clear that I only wanted to do 4 total classes. However, they did not mention that you have to cancel 30 days in advance or you will be automatically billed every month (this means you have to cancel the day you sign up or you will be charged for at least 2 months). After I was charged for the additional month which I was told would not happen, I immediately froze my membership (for another fee) to temporarily stop the payments. Once I spoke to the manager and let him know that I had been overcharged, he proceeded to refuse to fix the overcharges and even argued that the 30 day cancellation notice doesnā€™t count during a freeze so I would be charged for yet another month of membership fees. Honestly, with a manager like that, they should probably remove "integrity" from their values.

My boyfriend and I were charged multiple monthly payments even though we specifically requested to try out the gym for just 1 month when we joined. We thought this mistake would be easily corrected when we contacted the studio but the manager was very unreasonable and insisted that they would not be fixing the overcharge. We ended up having to pay almost $600 to do 4 classes. It seemed like the manager was attempting to swindle as much money from us as possible since we were cancelling but we were planning on joining again in the future. This establishment seems to be more focused on ripping off customers than providing a good experience.

Came in from out of town to work out with my cousin. I couldn't tell you one song that played because the coach was talking the entire time. At one point I felt like leaving...lol after the class was over, they proceeded to call my number on file, which is fine, but after about 5 times, I decided to block them. I noticed that my voicemail was 90% full but I didn't have any voicemails in my trash bin or my mailbox, so I went to blocked messages and there was over 20 blocked voicemails from this place....calling either every 2 days, or every week, since MARCH. It is now July. Please take me off the calling list. Thanks.

I have finally found a workout routine that works for me! Gone are the days that I walk into the gym and donā€™t really know which equipment to use or what to do. The energy at OTF Point Loma is unreal. The music motivates me throughout the workouts. The coaches are amazing and push me to become a better version of myself each and every day. I actually look forward to going to to the gym now, even though orange theory isnā€™t your ā€œtypicalā€ gym. The workouts are effective and there is a perfect balance of cardio/strength training. It is a way more personalized experience, and Iā€™m happy that I finally found something that works for me. Thank you OTF Point Loma! ā¤ļø

Very shady business practices. This location overcharges members and then refuses to refund the money. I know several people who have experienced the same issue. Corporate has even reached out promising to fix the overcharge but never did. If you can't trust a company with your credit card, you definitely should not trust them with your health and fitness.

One of the worst customer service you can ever receive!!!!!! I had an issues with my heart rate monitor and have notify the staff and the manager, Kelly Caldwell, that I was having issues and it was NOT WORKING. Kelly said she'll try to troubleshoot it and would call me within 4 days. 4 days have past and no calls or email about the update on my heart rate monitor. I come in and no one has worked on it, the front desk girl had no clue and did not see any written logs on my profile. So i came back two days later for my work out, and spoke to Kelly myself, about my heart rate monitor not being tested. She said it was partially tested and that the girl didn't fully read the log. I asked her why there wasn't any email or phone call regarding the update of my heart rate monitor, she acknowledged that she didn't call me back and said she will definitely call me TOMORROW. Tomorrow comes and NOTHING, no calls, no email. My time as a customer is not valued and the customer concerns are NOT a priority here. My business is going elsewhere, nothing will keep my business like poor customer service! As a studio manager understanding the principle of great customer service and how to maintain and gain new business is key , on top of that ,knowing how to deal with issues appropriately is crucial for a business to strive. But there's no genuine care for the customer nor the business. You are not their priority! I came in to cancel my membership and there was no apology or acknowledgement regarding the entire situation. It just amazes me that she thinks its okay to run the studio in this way, its doing nothing but losing the business money. People behind the desk are on their phones, talking, sitting, doesn't seem like they can help you and the only person who can help is kelly, which comes in and out and it's basically on her time if you need any issue to be dealt with. Read the contract before you sign up for any membership. They make you jump through hoops if you want to cancel your membership, has to be done in person at your home studio with the EXACT cancellation paper. Workouts are great but customer service is nasty! Take your business elsewhere!!!!

I was looking to get back into fitness after the pandemic. I found I was not motivated to "workout on my own" and needed accountability. At the time I was a 24-Hour fitness member but I only liked taking group classes, and the location nearest to me closed down. I saw Orangetheory offered a free class and it was a convenient location to my work and home. It was probably one of the best decisions I could have made for myself walking through that door 10 months ago. This place makes you feel welcomed, valued and motivated. You feel like a member of a special place, not just a "gym". It's all about energy, positivity and disconnecting from that phone for 1 hour a day. I have been able to achieve goals I never thought possible. My heart is in the best shape it's ever been in. I started with the 4-class a month membership to get back into working out. I upgraded to the 8-class a month within 3 months. I was very happy with that plan until the new year and I set new goals to come 3-4 times a week with the unlimited membership. It has become one of my "happy places" that I look forward to de-stress at the end of the day, see smiling and friendly faces, and make connections with new people who are there to improve their lives. If you are group class motivated, or even think you might be, I HIGHLY recommend this studio as your start. The coaches, sales associates and community are the best! It has helped me believe in a healthier lifestyle for myself.

Iā€™m a member at a different studio but will exclusively come to Point Loma because it is the best by far. The people, the energy, the studioā€¦itā€™s the best! I love that they have tablets on the rowers- I hadnā€™t seen that at any other studio. And itā€™s next to a Starbucks, hard to beat!

I love working out at Orange Theory, itā€™s so fun! The vibe is totally killer with the orange lights and loud music. I can just zone out and push myself to do my personal best on everything. All the staff is so amazing and motivating. I love seeing coach Kylieh in the mornings! She always helps me when I need it and pushes me to reach my goals.

This post is way overdue! Iā€™ve been a member at OTF Point Loma for 9 months now, and LOVE it. Iā€™ve had memberships all over San Diego at basically every gym out there, and the staff here are some of the warmest and genuinely caring people Iā€™ve seen in the game. From the manager Erin to the first coach who got me started Monica (she really took the time to check on me and say hi) to the other coaches in the classes I take the most- Nicole, Emily, Kylie and Michelle. Everyone is amazing! They will critique and hold you accountable to your goals and greet and pump you up! (Michelle is especially great at this!). Thanks guys! I can say that Iā€™m always looking forward to every class. AND Iā€™ve seen changes in my body and cardio health that have me feeling great!

I joined Orangetheory fitness in 2017 and recently switched my home studio to Point Loma after I moved to San Diego last year. I love this studio, and the coaches are so energetic, helpful, and friendlyā€¦especially given the early morning classes I attend. It is a great workout with awesome coaches to keep you motivated and accountable.

Love this studio! My husband and I come at 0500 and we love the coaches and enthusiasm we get at 5 in the morning. Point Loma does a bunch for their members, like happy hours, free donuts/snacks (occasionally, weā€™re still fit here!), and AWESOME 90 minute classes.

Great environment!Coaches are always motivated and willing to help you achieve your goals! But the best of all is, I donā€™t need to think about my work out or routine, all I have to do is show up and Iā€™m done! One hour 4-5 times a week and youā€™ll see results in short and long term! Love love Orange Theory!

Itā€™s been 5 years, a surgery, a marriage, IVF, a newborn and a pandemic laterā€¦. But coming back to OTF (Point Loma San Diego Ca) was the best decision I could have made for my body my mind and my child. A healthy happy me is the best person I want to be for my son. In the 5 years I was MIA the instructors and front desk have changed but what hasnā€™t is the same welcoming encouraging safe space to workout with no judgement. From the moment I walk in I am am always greeted with a smile and how are you. From the second before I step into the workout area I am greeted with a smiling coach pumping us up for 60 min of ME time. Sometimes the workouts are challenging sometimes they really fun. One thing I love is I can get to know my body and adjust what I need to and with the help of my coaches suggesting alternatives or just a little nod ā€œyou got thisā€ push. What I enjoy about OTF is itā€™s a guided class but special in its own way. I donā€™t know how to explain it. You need to just try it yourself!!!! I am grateful and thankful to be back and canā€™t wait to see the results I know I can achieve cause Iā€™ve done it before!

Orangetheory has helped me become the healthiest Iā€™ve ever been! Iā€™ve tried to go to regular gyms but I have a hard time pushing myself and holding myself accountable, but with orangetheory you have the coach to push you and youā€™re surrounded by people working just as hard. Iā€™ve always struggled with maintaining an appetite and building muscle, but after a year of going my body looks better than it ever has and I feel better than I ever have in my life. I seriously recommend orangetheory to everyone I meet.

Great work outs with a classroom mentalityā€¦ high five your neighbor and all that (if youā€™re into that). My one complaint is the music is so loud you canā€™t hear the instructions a lot of times from the coach. If they turned it down just a little when explaining the sets that would be helpful

What an incredible journey weā€™ve had here. My husband and I have tried a few gyms but nothing really stuck like OTF! Being at two different fitness levels we are still able to enjoy a 60 minute workout together. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by front desk staff, your journey begins to a healthier and happy life. Each and every one of the coaches gives you 110% of their passion and energy to help you along your journey! As we near our two year anniversary @OTF, as much healthier peeps, we are so thankful for them all!! šŸ§”

This place is the best. The front desk staff is amazing, they know my name (joined 12/27). The coaches are awesome, encouraging, motivating and very nice. Iā€™ve been an instructor for group classes at other gyms and this team of coaches are far better than myself. 5 stars team. LETS GO

I love OTF Point Loma. I started going there shortly after it opened. I was intimidated to try it out- but have found the coaches to be consistently supportive, fun and very helpful with tips on good form etc. the workouts are awesome- you can modify as needed. And the members are also supportive and fun to be around. I canā€™t imagine not having these workouts as a part of my fitness routine.

Love this place! The workouts are killer and the coaches are so inspiring! I bounce around to several studios in San Diego and having the flexibility to go to any studio is so important to me! At Pt Loma, Michelle is THE BEST trainer.

I never thought I was going to love OTF as much as I do. Gyms and workout classes were never my thing since I much rather be outdoors, swimming, cycling, playing volleyball... But the workouts are SO efficient, the hour just flies by. After just 4 months, my body is stronger and I lost ~2in on my hips and waist! Oh, and very important, coaches and staff are awesome!!

Iā€™m a travel nurse and here on an assignment for the next 3 months! Everyone at the studio have been more than welcoming to me and helping me grow with each workout! I have been a member of OTF for over 3 years and this studio definitely keeps it lively for every workout! The coaches here really do everything they can to pump you up with their motivation on the mic and their music choice!

I enjoy the team spirit in the room that brings us all together while we are each enjoying our own workout experience. It is great that everyone participates to the level they can while feeling overall that we are all working out together. Somehow Orange Theory has managed to make group classes rewarding for the whole group while allowing individuals to work in their own orange zone.

I like: Mainly cardio/calorie burn but also a full body workout Coaches push us to push ourselves Camaraderie - we all encourage and support each other Pre-programmed workout - I don't have to think too much; I can let my mind wander Cleanliness Classes throughout the day Incredibly kind staff and coaches Upbeat music Heart rate monitor so I can track my workout intensity What I don't like: Scheduling - if I cancel, I get charged. Even when there is a waitlist. If someone is taking my spot, I shouldn't be charged. And, 8 hours notice? It makes me not want to sign up for a class if there is any doubt in my mind. How about a "three strikes then you get charged" rule so we have some leniency? The floor exercises are treated like cardio exercises - low weight and high reps. We get enough cardio on the tread and rower. Make the floor section more like a "weightlifting" experience - lower reps and higher weight. That would make OTF a more balanced and complete full body workout. Sometimes, the coaches talk too fast, too quietly, or there are just so many transitions/program changes/instructions that the workout gets confusing. If you are doing OTF correctly, you are constantly at the edge of exhaustion, so even simple instructions can get challenging! Overall, OTF is a great workout and a fantastic fitness experience. I would advise members to remember that, "You can't out exercise a bad diet," and to get their diet in check. The only way you are really going to see results from OTF, or any exercise program, is to manage your diet first. Once your diet is really on point, you will be surprised how quickly the fat disappears!

I had an incredible experience at this studio. Not only was the class challenging and enjoyable, but the staff was super friendly. Couldn't recommend this studio more highly!!

I love that no two workouts are the same. I never know what I'm going to get but I feel wonderful and accomplished when I leave. The trainers are all so nice and motivating and the playlists always keep me pumped. All the people at the front desk are always so sweet and welcoming that I never feel intimidated walking in. Smiles on the way and high fives on the way out. OTF has been one of the best things Iā€™ve added into my life.

I loved the energy in the room and the instructor's charisma. She made sure we got an AMAZING work out in. She really pushed us to go harder when I felt like taking it down a couple notches. I am deeeeeeply saddened to have to quit this gym. The trainers are fantastic, the front desk staff are amazing, the workouts are perfect, scheduling couldn't get any better for me and my over booked calendar, so I imagine it would work for just about anyone. As far as the workouts go? They are great too! I joined because I knew I would need an outlet for the anticipated year I was embarking on... dying parents, huge life changes in my own personal family, physical limitations that change daily/weekly, job stress, and zero down time for self care. I didn't think that this would work out for me. I doubted I would be able to squeeze it in with all my obligations as a single parent and all the other big things going on in my life. I was so depressed in general that I didn't think I'd be able to make this a priority... But I did... and it worked. I was able to commit to going 4-6 times a week and didn't have to skip a workout on any of the frequent trips to see my parents - BECAUSE THERE WAS A GYM THERE TOO!!! This place saved me this year. Thank you for providing a place where I could go and turn off my brain for an hour and do something good for myself. I am 100000% committed to starting back after I'm done paying for pre-school in a few years. This is a wonderful community and I look forward to being part of it again. For an extremely introverted person, I was surprised at how much i enjoyed such large classes, dynamic coaches and the entire atmosphere of music, orange lighting, etc. Thank you all for basically saving me this year. It has been a VERY dark year but I at least had this to look forward to each week. Tee and Nicole are amazing coaches. Truly inspiring and great in class with help. I've really enjoyed all the coaches but those are the two that I would see the most of the time because of my schedule. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!

I'm new to Orange Theory, but not new to sports and working out. I'm thrilled I've added OT to my training regime, andlove the variety I get with each OT workout. Alternating between the treadmill, rowing machine, and free weights helps keep the workouts fun and interesting, yet challenging. The interval training is awesome, and I'm already seeing my performance level increase in other activities as a result. The coaches are so supportive, knowledgeable, and motivating, too. If you've been on the fence about trying OT, I encourage you to jump in and go for it! You will definitely benefit from this workout whether you're a beginner or advanced athlete.

Such a nice staff... for it being my first workout the coach and staff were so kind and made me feel so welcomed. I was helped through the entire workout- feeling right at home. I was encouraged to try my best, but to not over-do it. I signed up immediately after class! So happy to be apart of this gym. :)

I like that it is guided, and I don't have to think about what I'm doing. Also that it gives me micro goals for each block. The workout is one that not only pushes you but allows you to push yourself. The coaches at point Loma are some of the best I have ever had. I've been working out at Orange Theory Point Loma for almost 6 months now and am beyond impressed with the instructors, the staff, and the workout. Every class is different and challenging, and the instructors are excellent motivators. You can tell they take the time to learn the workout before class so they're prepared and can keep things organized and moving quickly + effortlessly during the class. I think everyone should give this workout a try and they'd be happy with every instructor at the studio. Thank you Orange Theory Point Loma for making this such a fun, welcoming, and motivating place for all. It's one hour I look forward to every day :)

You want the best one hour workout surrounded by the best staff EVER?! Look no further. Point Loma Orangetheory is your answer. With class times to fit your schedule, whether you're an early riser or roll out of bed whenever you feel like it, there's a class time for you. Show up and the workout is all set for you. A well trained and very knowledgeable coach guides you through your cardio and floor exercises, but all is set to your own skill level. I've worked out next to rockin senior citizens, ex-athletes and people of all shapes and sizes! This place is for everyone. I can't rave enough about it so go try it out for yourself! Only thing is the workouts change every day so instead of just trying one, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND trying it out for a month to get the full feel of things...you'll love it, and you'll feel GREAT.

The coaches are top notch. They are experts on proper form and motivation. The science based approach to fitness is an additional reason to workout at OTF. Additional benefits are the constant introduction of different exercises and focus on full body movements. Coach Jolen coached an excellent class and is one of my favorites. Well done OTF!

  • 5/5 Lindsay V. 5 years ago on Google
5 classes in and so far something new every time. I've been to group exercise studios where the class follows the same format every time, which makes it easy to predict and therefore dread different sections of class. I'm still working on figuring out how to get my calorie burn up but I love the competition with myself to get in the orange zone. Hoping to be able to stick with OTF for a while and get back into shape!
