The Cannery was founded in 1907 as a canning plant for vegetables and fruits. Its original owners was the California Fruit Company which became Del Monte. One of the few large areas that escaped complete destruction in the San Francisco Earthquake, the Cannery was operated by Del Monte until 1937. Located right on the wharf. Renovated in the late 1960s, the Cannery is now an historic landmark with more than 30 shops and restaurants. .

It's a shopping area. If you visit expecting that, you will find what you are looking for. If you are looking for more, you will be disappointed.

I went there for some in-n-out food. Crowded and safe with a security guard there. Don't leave anything in your car ever.l (even if it is hidden do not leave a thing).

Best place for clam chowder and crab 🦀 in San Francisco. A local business owner informed me that there is a strike, so no fresh crab. During the lock down it's like a ghost town.

Gorgeous old spot full of character & soul, unique businesses and great eateries. Sadly almost completely abandoned now, few places open, elevator taken over by homeless. A real shame.

Amazing building built from the bricks rescued in the San Francisco earthquake. Sits alongside the piers. Lots of shops and bars inside.

We came to Blue Mermaid for dinner because I remembered the corn and crab bisque being really tasty. It was just as I remembered it and the margarita was just as good, although it took a long while for the drinks to come. He ordered the shrimp roll. I was cautious of the price, but it was really seasoned well and filling with the side salad.

The complex is loaded with quite a few restaurants, touristy shops, an aquarium, and the city's Hard Rock Cafe, which by the way, is conveniently located at the outskirts of the mall. Street performers are scattered everywhere. Parking? Yikes, I'd never want to guess where you'd park, though I did see a few parking garages a short walk away.

Tons of stores! Having a little one I love the "family lounge" complete w/ private nursing suites, a single-person restroom, comfy couches, changing tables and even a microwave! Other malls need to pick up on this. The elevators could be a bit larger, although it would help if people saw an elevator full of strollers and WAITED for the next one rather than jamming themselves in!
