I enjoy the concept of P4L. Having small personal trainer led classes keep you accountable and make sure you do the exercises with correct form. The 2 months I was there I got good results and it helped in my recovery from my injuries. Many thanks to Coach Jon, who was very attentitive and always tailored the workouts to the most pressing issues I was facing. Can recommend Jon to anyone

Great experience with Stephen. We set up some short term aesthetic and athletic goals and he helped me meet them as best we could.

I had a great experience working out at P4L. The staff is incredibly friendly and good at getting you to your goals. I worked with Jeremy Nacu and Jon Nyugen during my time at P4L, both of whom were super knowledgeable at understanding my injury history and paving a path to getting fit again. Thank you guys!

P4L offers an outstanding fitness experience. The trainers are attentive and knowledgeable. They made me feel welcomed even at a beginner fitness level. The facilities are clean and stylish, and the programs are fun yet deliver results. The sense of community is palpable, making every visit enjoyable. I've been to all of the locations and each one has been of high quality. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-notch gym experience!

From day one, Jacob took the time to understand my fitness objectives, my limitations, and my preferences. This personalized approach made me feel confident that I was in capable hands. Jacob created a tailored workout plan that not only challenged me but also kept me engaged and motivated throughout our sessions.

This is by far the best personal training experience I have had. Dan's knowledge and attention to detail are A+. They take their time assessing your goals and explain how we're going to get there. The workouts are definitely challenging and the results came quickly which made the experience sort of addicting. I could not recommend enough.

Perform for life (P4L) is the best! I feel like I've tried every workout class or gym in San Francisco and what I love about P4L is how they have created such a community and make you feel like family. I do personal training and also take advantage of the small group classes. My trainer Dan is both super knowledgeable, but he also makes the training itself fun. He's helped me a lot on my form and I've seen so much improvement in how much I can lift, which contributes to how strong and tone I feel. I also feel like I have a lot more tools to better workout on my own when traveling. I highly, highly recommend Dan! I've also enjoy taking the small group classes because it's a great way to meet the other trainers as well as other people who attend the same gym. This makes going to the gym feel like you're just hanging with your friends.

Ive been training with Sara for the past year and she has been a game-changer for my tennis skills. She blends sports coaching, PT knowledge and fun which makes each session enjoyable but productive. The gym’s group class atmosphere complements Sara’s approach. It’s not about high-intensity cardio classes but rather a welcoming space for weight-focused training with a strong sense of community. As a woman sometimes strength training can be intimidating so if you’re looking to train for a sport or enjoy a supportive fitness environment, Sara and P4L are the perfect choice!

Perform for Life is an incredible gym that helped me regain my strength and receive excellent 1:1 coaching from their talented team. I trained with trainer Dan following an Achilles tear and surgery and he was truly incredible coaching me through each stage of my recovery process. I worked with him for 2+ years and went from nearly zero post surgery to heavy lifting and dynamic HIT cardio workouts in just over a year. I highly recommend Dan for anyone who is starting at square one and for those who are avid athletes, looking to take their training to the next level. Dan's style is friendly, approachable, and highly customized - and he instinctually knows how to push you to reach new goals that you might have previously thought were impossible. I can't thank him enough for the progress I've made and the strength I've build in a short time, and mentally and emotionally for the motivation and encouragement he provided in each and every session.

After a decade of ankle instability and corresponding chronic pain, I reached out to P4L to invest in the balance and strength-building that might mitigate some of the issues. I've been seeing Coach Kris for exactly a year now and his expertise regarding my muscle health and flexibility is so outstanding that I'm effectively pain free! I'm in the best shape of my life, coming in just once a week, with the confidence to push myself further than since my injury! Aside from hilarious banter throughout each session (which I look forward to all week) my favorite part about Kris is his approach to pain: whatever is causing trouble gets attention and we work through it. This optimism and focus on hard work [that pays off] has completely changed my outlook on chronic pain and I couldn't be more glad to have found P4L.

I have been working with Coach Jacob for a year. He is very knowledgeable about what he does and keeps up to date with the science behind the workout. Our workouts are always a good balance of challenging and fun. His guidance through various exercises have greatly improved my technique in many fundamental movements and improved my general body awareness. The programs he makes for me are well thought out and have made me much stronger and moved me closer to my goals. Jacob with his patience and knowledge has also helped me overcome several mental blocks I had but was unaware of. Overall this has been a great experience for me and I highly recommend P4L and coach Jacob specifically!

BEST gym of all time. I got stronger and more consistent coming here than I’ve ever been, which has also translated into noticeable mental health gains. This is all thanks to the excellent coaching and programming, the welcoming community, and supportive atmosphere. Even in the small-group classes, you’ll get help with your form, modifications if you need them, and often cheerleading from the rest of the class to reach a PR. Thank you in particular to Sara, Kris, Jacob, Jon, and the rest of the P4L team, you are amazing!

After working with Jon for most of 2022 I would definitely recommend both Jon as a coach and P4L as a gym to anyone who's serious about improving their health. Jon has helped me achieve my personal fitness goals and there's a great community at this gym, both in terms of employees and members, that makes me look forward to going in even first thing in the morning.

I used Perform For Life for about 6 months with the goal of getting my body wedding ready! After a few grueling years of grad school and then the pandemic, I had put in minimal time into taking care of myself, and was very self conscious about my body. I hated gyms because I was overwhelmed by all of the equipment. I'd finally decided to make an investment in myself but was shopping around to find a place that didn't give me anxiety. From my first consultation phone call with Justine Sharifi, I felt so at ease. She was so kind and relatable. I did my initial assessment and subsequently my very first training session with Coach Dan and at no point did I feel awkward -- rather I felt very comfortable and I knew I'd found a home for my fitness journey. I was paired up with Coach Sara for the next 6 months and I could not have been happier. Sara is so talented at her job -- meaning she is professional, encouraging, and has extensive knowledge of the way the body works & how to curate a fitness plan that will challenge (but not overwhelm) you, and pace it so that you can build upon your progress to reach your ultimate goals. I always felt like Sara was fully committed to me during our sessions together. She accommodated my crazy, unpredictable schedule, and was never on her phone or distracted. She paid attention to every rep and would even take notes so that she could update our game plan. On top of being an awesome coach, Sara is a lovely human being -- on days where the wedding planning stress hit hard and I shed a few tears, she showed me a great deal of kindness and I could tell that she is just a genuine person overall. She's definitely someone I felt lucky to have in my corner! Other coaches that I never trained with have also always been extremely friendly and approachable here -- there is an authentic family dynamic as well as true talent at Perform For Life -- you can't go wrong! :) Thank you so much, Sara and P4L!!!!

I've been coming to P4L for two years and it is a wonderfully welcoming gym with trainers who support your goals. Jacob's guidance has really transformed how look at strength training. He focuses on technique and helps to push you out of your comfort zone. Highly recommend his classes and the gym in general!

My trainer, Jon, has been super welcoming and helpful, answering all my questions around proper exercise technique as well as explaining the overall programming approach we're taking. In particular I've been super impressed by his ability to navigate my past hamstring injury and muscle imbalance. I feel like I'm getting the benefits of physical therapy incorporated into my overall training approach in order to prevent future injuries as well as heal from past. I couldn't be happier and excited about where we're headed with my training goals around hypertrophy.

I attended a four week transformation bootcamp with Perform For Life to kickstart my 2020. It included four days of training per week (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri) with two very knowledgeable coaches (Coach Nia and Coach Mel). They took 15 trainees through classes that included boxing, upper body focus, lower body focus, and metabolic conditioning. In addition, we had a free initial consult with an in house nutritionist and two small group and two semi private sessions (in case we didn't think that 4 classes per week were enough). I liked the bootcamp because the workouts were fun yet challenging. I also got to know some of my fellow trainees in and out of bootcamp (we even did a happy hour and karaoke night!). The goal to lose 8 pounds, 2% body fat or gain 2% muscle was also very reasonable and attainable, unlike other weight loss or fitness challenges. I highly recommend the Perform For Life Transformation Bootcamp! All levels and abilities are welcome!

Hands down, this is the best gym in San Francisco. I've been a member since 2019 and I see no reason why I would ever go anywhere else. Unlimited classes come with your personal training membership, so there's a ton of variety. The quality of the fitness coaches is unparalleled (Jon, Jacob, Sara - I'm looking at you). I guarantee this is not a gym where the trainers will let you have bad form, and that prevents injuries my friends. My fiancee and I are currently doing personal training to get ready for wedding pics, and we're both seeing great results. Check out P4L for excellent fitness training and a fantastic community.

The folks at P4L are THE BEST. I am not exaggerating. They've cultivated an incredible roster of passionate trainers and motion specialists—truly their culture just can't be beat. From their 1:1 sessions to group classes, the workouts are thoughtful, challenging, and damn fun. You won't go back. I had my first intro phone call with Justine half a year ago, and absolutely no regrets since! Coach Jon has made a huge impact on my fitness journey. He listens to what I'm looking for and creates a game plan, always checking in and seeing if we need to reset goals. Super knowledgable, attentive, and encouraging! I cannot recommend him enough. If you're looking for personal training in SF, they are the people to go to.

Joining Perform for Life is one of the best decisions I’ve made without a doubt. I’ve been training here for almost a year now, in both the 1:1 (working with Zach, which has been awesome) and small group classes. In the initial meeting and assessment I was able to identify my goals and where I wanted to improve, and then we designed a training program to meet those needs. Since then I’ve been able to progress and we’ve adjusted the training program to hit new and different fitness goals, alongside working on nutrition and mobility. The classes provide a great environment for training, with the other members supporting each other and pushing one another to do their best. The instructors design very well rounded classes, giving you a great workout in just 50 short minutes that are done before you know it. Each instructor has a background and certification in training, and even in the small groups you’re able to get form coaching and exercise modifications to meet your needs. I can’t say enough about how much I’ve enjoyed being a part of this community and what a positive impact it has had on my health - thank you P4L!

Perform for Life is a small Gym with diverse equipments, that is always kept clean. The trainers are professional and educated. I’ve been working with coach Jacob for the last 17 months. I came in after quarantine 5 (+ 5 kg/11 lb) and with feeling lost around loosing weight. Coach Jacob is a dedicated, passionate and knowledgeable trainer. He is detailed oriented- which is so needed and so well utilized in the personal sessions programming as well as in the nutritional analysis and suggestions. I was able to move the needle towards my goal thank to all the thorough guidance I received in my sessions. The bimonthly in body analysis has been a tool for strategizing accordingly. Jacob has been my best personal trainer I’ve ever had. Thank you P4L!

I recently learned about this gym through a friend and I’m so glad I became a member! I’ve struggled with various injuries over the last few years that left me frustrated and unable to work out without being in pain for days after. I started working with Zach and his programming has been a perfect fit for me. I’m now doing challenging workouts that are helping me get closer to reaching my fitness goals and I’ve been pain free! The gym is super clean, organized, well designed and not intimidating at all. Everyone is super friendly and supportive. They also have small group classes where you get a lot of individual guidance and cues. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who is looking for high quality, knowledgeable trainers who have a ton of experience in being able to modify workouts and help reduce dysfunctions or imbalances while still keeping it challenging. I couldn’t be happier to have found my new fitness home!

😐 My first visit in an American Bouldering Gym and a rather disappointing one. Not sure about the 4.8 Stars. I think the gym invests more time in the wrong places.
