Abud Efendi Han, which welcomes you with the phrase "Stamboul Yenni- Tcharchi" at its entrance, is one of the most characteristic buildings on Marpuççular Street, in my opinion. The most popular information about the building is that the movie "Poor", directed by Zeki Okten and starring Kemal Sunal, was shot here. The tea house used in the movie is still in operation, and a poster of the movie still hangs on its wall. The architect of the building, which was built in 1877, is unknown. It bears interesting architectural traces with its cast iron columns. It can be included in the route during the visit to the Historical Peninsula.

The film Yoksul starring Kemal Sunal is set here. For fans, a little detour is worth it. The person who works here is very nice. He will tell you some anecdotes between two services. 05/09/2018

The place where Kemal SUNAL's movie 'Poor' was shot. It still continues to be used in the same form. Tea prices are more expensive than before :)

There are inscriptions in Ottoman and French on the doors of the inn, which was built in 1895. These are the writings “Stamboul Yenni- Tcharchi” and “Istanbul New Bazaar 1313 –1895”.

Büyük Abud Efendi Han hosted the movie 'Poor', the shooting of which started in 1986 and starring Kemal Sunal and Yaman Okay. In the movie, which was released in 1987, Kemal Sunal's character 'Poor', a tea seller, conveys the events taking place in a commercial inn to moviegoers, sometimes with a humorous perspective. The tea house that Kemal Sunal and Yaman Okay used as the main location in the movie still maintains its function today. Today, Metin Genç, who continues his character Özgür, is loved by the tradesmen in the inn and its surroundings, just like in the movie. Metin Genç, who calls himself 'Poor', says that many visitors from other cities and abroad come to see the teahouse today, and that Kemal Sunal's memory will live within the walls of the inn forever. Mümin Kireç has been a resident of Büyük Abud Efendi Han for 55 years. The special feature of Kireç, who works as a tradesman, is that he not only witnessed the shootings live, but also took part in the film. Mümin Kireç says that the reason for choosing Büyük Abud Efendi Han for the shooting was its open dome and wide movement area. Kireç also explained that Kemal Sunal was usually a guest in his shop and that he acted as an extra in a few scenes in the movie at the artist's request. Kireç, who said that he never saw Sunal's spoiledness or ego on the set, also described his memory of the fall scene in the movie as follows: “I've never seen you do a scene twice. I said to Kemal brother, 'You will go out and shoot this scene twice.' It was a falling scene, the glasses will break. He went and did it at once and came."

One of the first modern works of the 19th century. It is a spacious hotel-like inn, with ironwork staircases and a glass ceiling.

A beautiful inn with historical value. I wish it would get rid of the sign pollution like many other historical workplaces 😔

👍👍 The caretaker at this church was a fantastic, energetic, warm and helpful woman. She showed us around very enthusiastically and told us the story of a few of the icons inside the church. The entire neighbourhood has been cleaned up recently in an attempt by the municipality to attract more tourists....
