Nice orthodox church in the city centre. It is said, that "it is always open" - I heard it from few people, read on the internet, even guide told us so, however after 7 PM it was already closed. We managed to take a look the next day in the morning, however without sightseeing, as there was holy mass inside. There is a nice yard though.

Hidden gem in Bucharest old town. Built in the Brancoveanu style, used to be a monastery, but now is a church. The church itself is still in use. It still has a feeling of old times and strong spirituality. The architecture and the paintings are gorgeous and are worth a visit.

🤩 amazing monastery. Very small but it seems that it is full of history. There's not a single place on the wall without decoration. I was able to get in by chance as there were people before me that couldn't get inside. It's free and you can pay for a candle to light and leave outside. Recommend going there before leaving town. You don't need to appreciate religion just that you enjoy decoration and history.

An old Greek church built in the heart of Bucharest. Entry cost: free to enter and enjoy Size: quite small inside with about enough room for 15 people. Pros: it looks stunning to the eye, it’s just one things that makes your head turn. Cons: surrounding buildings are a little run down. Give out of five

Beautiful small church, free entrance. Writings on the wall are in cyrillic, as Romanians had not adopted the roman alphabet yet.

A very old church in the Bucharest city centre, preserved beautifully. A peaceful oasis in the middle of the city. We discovered the church whilst playing Questo, a mobile app with clues, offering insight into the history of Bucharest while taking us on a beautiful route with scenic sights. We admired the old and new architecture present in the Old City Centre and spent a relaxing Friday afternoon enjoying the weather.

At the edge of Old Town. This beautifully maintained and restored church is a must see. The workmanship and care that is invested here is worth seeing. Built around 1724, this monastery wold have been surrounded by a completely different environment, but here it is in the middle of this huge city. Go inside, (men removing hat and women covering heads if possible, out of respect) , and be impressed.

Stunning monestry covered with ornate carvings snd images. Arrived early afternoon whilst pray was taking place but greeted to enter afterwards. Very quiet courtyard next to it again containing many religious artifacts.

A beautiful little church in the centre of Bucharest. The church itself is really small so it's definitely fit for a quick visit if you're on the rush. Do make sure to be respectful inside and acknowledge that this is a place of prayer. Don't be overly touristy and loud inside! The paintings on the walls are typically orthodox so it's nice to see if this is your first time in a mostly orthodox country. The church also has a lovely backyard with Greek influences which is definitely worth exploring. It's so secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city and so serene. It's mostly in the shadow as well so if you're visiting during the hot Romanian summers it's a great place to catch your breath a bit and delight your eyes.

I was amazed to see, how they have preserved the 18th Century Monastery. It has some original paintings on the wall since 300 years ago, which aren't restored. It has a good space to visit around it with some ancient artifacts. A must visit place if you love photography. There is no entry free. The lady at the monastery was very kind, shared the history with us and she speaks English. Right next to the monastery is an ancient building, now converted into a beautiful restaurant known as "Caru cu bere", please dont miss to visit inside and admire the beauty of the architecture. Nearest metro station is Unirii, exit towards Centrul Vechi. Happy sight-seeing!

One of the most interesting places in the Old Town. This church not only has survived to earthquakes but also the systematization planned and carried out by the Romanian Communist Party, it is well preserved and the restoration works were excellent. Undoubtedly, it is worth a visit. Besides, you will enjoy neo-byzantine music performed by the choir inside, so it is a peaceful and relaxing place as well. You can visit the library next to the church with a collection of old icons and ecclesiastical objects as well.

A monastary in the middle of the city. It is kind of hard to miss when paying a bit more attention to the surroundings as it stands out. Bucarest is kind of old but this building is among them even older but nonetheless still pretty. The outside of it is worth to look with their yard and it also shows its history a bit. The inside is also while very old still very pretty as well. I have never been to an orthodox monastery/church before so it was quite different but still nice.

Probably one of the most iconic places I’ve been in Bucharest old town, the place is beautiful and unique because it has a historical significance to it. You can see the metal bar which was used to call for the prayer when it was Forbidden to ring the bell (you can see the bell on the ground by the wall). I recommend this place for anyone visiting Bucharest.

The old monastery built i. 1724, survived for 2 centuries until got dissolved. The church has been operating by a hieromonk since 1990, it took 100 years for it. You can see some of the excavations pieces found during searches after the church suffered losses during earthquakes. It is a very small church, but nice to visit the site

The tiny Stavropoleos Church is one of the most beautiful religious monuments in the capital of Romania. Tucked away between taller buildings in Bucharest´s Old Town, this splendid 18th-century monument was originally part of Stavropoleos Monastery. It gets its name from its founder, the Greek monk Ioanichie, who later became a Metropolitan of Stavropolie. The style combines local, Oriental, Byzantine, and late Italian Renaissance elements. Among its distinctive elements are the loggias with stone columns carved with floral patterns, carved door and window frames, and the use of interior columns.

Very old and beautiful monastery. I arrived here close to the sunset, so the backyard was a bit dark and all the exhibits from the terrace weren’t so visible. The sculpture of the outside doors is amazing- so detailed. Aldough, the nicest feeling of peace you get standing in the yard and watching the columns covered in ivy. I have to see it in summer to, for a bit of color.

Small and quiet, there is some interesting artwork inside. Each wall has different artwork to admire so it is essential you arrive when the monastery is open. Outside the building is worth admiring from an architectural view. This is located in the Old Town and is easy to walk to and I found it to be very enjoyable stop.

Amazing place, so beautiful and calm, like a small island of harmony in the middle of all the noise and vanity that splashes over the old town of Bucharest. Just sitting in the yard during the Sunday service I felt at peace, even though I'm not religious and I don't understand the language. The architecture of the church (from 1724) is exquisite, every detail is made with immense care. It is also preserved and restored where necessary very skillfully and cautiously. The spirit of the place is well kept.

(Translated by Google) I want to leave my opinion about the city as a whole. The country is certainly very beautiful and there are many interesting cities, but I personally did not like Bucharest. Noisy, with lots of outdoor advertisements, old abandoned courtyards. Buildings of beautiful architecture save the situation, of course, but they look somehow gloomy. We rented an apartment in the city center. So the locals tried to charge us for public parking and even threatened. The siren sounded outside the windows all night long. So often I have not heard in more than one city in the world. The black wires on the poles are also very attractive. It looks just like Thailand. Who was there will understand.

Good looking and well preserved monastery, with a stunning garden. It's right in downtown Bucharest, just pass right through the gate and you’ll be inside the monastery. No entrance fee.

Such a beautiful and precious place to visit. A very peaceful and quiet little church. The paintings on the wall are fabulous. A not to missed place to visit in Bucharest. The amount of details and hardworking on this beautiful ancient monument is very impressive.

One of the small churches in the heart of Bucharest. It is small but very impressive and very beautiful. Make sure you save some time for visiting.

Historic church in the middle of the old town. Has survived many earth quakes. Architecture with the vaulted ceiling paintings and paintings of the apostles are superb. Courtyard with the Persian influences on the arches and the oldest sign of Romania language on what reminds me of a celtic cross. Worth visiting

Free entrance. This monastery is amazing. Quite small though so when it is busy it is hard to get nice photo shots.

Nice little church with a small courtyard and garden to its side. It seems pretty significant, with lots of history based on the number of people that tend to visit and review this place. It does have a lot of religious artwork in and around it and is a good example of seeing an orthodox church in Bucharest but having seen more churches in Bucharest during my visit, I would have to say there are many far more beautiful churches than this one. Many are close to the old town, so they can be easy to visit.

It looks a little run down from outside but inside is stunning! Definitely worth a look if you’re in the area! ⛪️

A beautiful Romanian Orthodox monastery. This monastery was founded in the early 1700’s and has survived earthquakes and political upheaval. The frescoes are works of art and there is a large historical library here, although the library is not available to the general public.

Beautiful church. It is quite small so it does not take long to visit. I loved the details in it, from wall carvings to beautiful drawing. Well looked after. It is free to enter, no ticket required. I think we spent about 10 - 15 minutes there. It is in the old town so very easy to find if you are a tourist. It was empty when we visited, no wait, you just walk in.
