It looks awesome! Probably the biggest orthodox church in Bucharest... Later edit (March 2020): it is outstanding, it is an important religious and touristic objective, it is a landmark for this Bucharest, the city from the gates of the Balkans! It is big enough to be a cathedral - the iconography, the columns, the gates, the lights, its painted stained glass, the colorful liturgical garnishments, all these are great arguments to demonstrate that this edifice is a masterpiece of architecture and it is a jewel of the capital of Romania, for sure!!!

Very pretty church, amazing how it was constructed so long ago and still standing. And even more amazing inside in how the church has been decorated especially the paintings surrounding the walls and ceilings. It was nice to be able to witness a wedding take place and see the Romanian customs.

Beautiful orthodox church. I honestly got in to repair from the heavy rain and I found a exquisite piece of art!! Personally I think that here you can breathe the real essence of orthodox churches, silent and peaceful even in the middle of a chaotic city like Bucharest!

One of the most beautiful churches in Bucharest! Eclectic architecture with gothic influences, with big columns, very nice painted stained glass, and also the colorful liturgical garnishments that you can see inside the altar. I went to a wedding there and it was absolutely amazing. Definitely a must visit place in Bucharest!

(Translated by Google) Menu WELCOME! “But because God sent His Son and dwelt with men, every Christian is obliged to build the house of God on earth. For this reason, the servant of God, the ruler of Wallachia, Scarlat Ghica, the son of Mr. Grigorie Ghica, wanting to increase the name of God, the one in the Trinity worshiped and glorified, of miracles. This enterprise began in the second year of his reign, in 1767, and ended in his second reign, in 1768, September 30th. And in order to be sufficient in all its beauty and good faith, it was endowed with funds and permanent ties by Mr. Alexandru Ghica, the son of Mr. Grigorie Ghica, the first founder. ” - The inscription stone at the entrance, a real birth certificate of the church. Sfântul Spiridon Nou Church is located in Bucharest, on Calea Şerban Vodă at no. 29, a short distance south of Piata Unirii, close to Dealul Mitropoliei. It is one of the largest and most beautiful churches in Bucharest. By its positioning it is a landmark for pilgrims and tourists visiting the capital. It is classified as a historical monument of category A (of national importance), code B-II-m-A-19750, and was named Saint Spiridon Nou to distinguish it from the church of Saint Spiridon Vechi, located in the United Nations Square. It is a royal necropolis, on the right side of the narthex being buried the rulers Scarlat Ghica († 1766), Constantin Hangerli († 1799) and Alexandru Şuţu († 1821).
