Fantastic book store, which offers much more than books only. The interior definitely worth a peek! There's a section here for anyone. Really worth a visit if you're into these places. Note that many things are in Romanian, but there were a lot of books and items in English as well. Besides books, comics, board games and such, there are also some stuff for your home or office, useful designed items, even some chocolate and other food items you can get. In addition to the coffee shop on the top, that I didn't manage to get to this time (just for lack of time).

What can I say - one of my favorite places on Earth in terms of bookstores. First of all, the interior is super impressive and imaginative. Second of all, the variety of books both in Romanian and English is mind-blowing, not to mention all the other stuff and accessories being offered such as candles, bags, bookmarks, school supplies, and many more. I haven’t dreamt of a book gem so perfect in my wildest dreams. Staff is okay - mainly staying on the cash desk. Another thing that impressed me were the affordable prices - I come from Bulgaria and honestly, the books I bought in English would cost at least 20-40% more in my country. To sum up, a place to be and a place to come back to! I definitely will! 💛

Very beautiful and amazing library. It’s not a simple library! First the monument is very impressive and very beautiful. Also they have so many products. There is also a coffee shop at the top floor. There is a photo exhibition. And also CD and vinyls. You can spend a good time there and enjoy your shopping.

Amazing place! Really clean! With a lot of interesting titles in English (and Spanish and French and Italian as well!) We have spent there more than 2 hours! Unfortunately the cafe at the top was renovating but still totally worth a visit. I loved the place.

This is hands down one of the most beautiful, bright and mood elevating book shops on the planet. The natural light, design and decor make you want to browse books for hours. The basement is full of graphic novels, vinyl, and figurines.. It is a book lover's dream. Don't miss it if you're in Bucharest.

Possibly the best and most beautiful bookshop in Bucharest. It has an incredible selection of books in numerous languages and of a wide range of topics, in addition to the ground floor on which we can find interesting souvenirs, food and beverages from Romania. An essential visit for any book lover.

Very cute and interesting place for tourists. Here you can find amazing things, interesting books on English or Romanian, a lot of different CD, cups, toys and other you want. The price not so cheap, but it ok if you will find things you like.

The vibe of this library is just unique. You can spend hours there just wandering around, reading books and enjoying the architecture of this building. Variety of books in English as well as toys and souvenirs. Located in the old town just by many coffee shops. Beautiful and must visit

Such a pretty book store! We didn't buy anything, though, since we didn't actually need anything, and I think a lot of people were here like us, just for taking pictures, which is a shame... But the store looks amazing and appart from books they also sell office supplies, bags, small gadgets, toys and figurines, etc.

It's probably the most complete bookstore in Bucharest, novels, books, manga, comics, music, films, merch, geek zone as well 🤣... whatever you are looking for, probably you will find it there. I bought an steelbook sold out in my country and it was in my mother tongue as well. The staff was very helpful and kind. And of course, the historical building is also a must to visit this place.

It is an amazing place! Wonderful decorations! The store is set on several levels, the books are grouped accordingly. They have a great variety of books, a little bit expensive for my taste, but - hey - the location is in the historic center of the city, it has great lighting, and all this cost money. Just before I arrived there was a book launch and the place looked festive and important. Also, there was a 20 minute pleasantly interesting Cello concert. The top floor has a bistro where one can enjoy a nice drink.

The best book shop I have ever visited în the world. 3 quarters wheelchair/pushchair accessible, lift available, and even a small toilet. Toilet not suitable for wheelchair. However, the selection of books, gifts, stationery, and souvenirs is absolutely outstanding. I would totally recommend this place to visitors, travellers, and anyone passing by. Also it is in one of the best areas of Bucharest, right in the centre of the old town square.

It’s one of the most beautiful places to visit in Bucharest. It’s located near the old town and it’s super photogenic atmosphere. You can make lot of beautiful pictures for your Insta. It looks like a library but it’s actually a book store where you can find books from Romanian and International authors.

Bookselling is the commercial trading of books which is the retail and distribution end of the publishing process. People who engage in bookselling are called booksellers, bookpeople, bookmen, or bookwomen. The founding of libraries in 300 BC stimulated the energies of the Athenian booksellers. In Rome, toward the end of the republic, it became the fashion to have a library, and Roman booksellers carried on a flourishing trade. The spread of Christianity naturally created a great demand for copies of the Gospels, other sacred books, and later on for missals and other devotional volumes for both church and private use. The modern system of bookselling dates from soon after the introduction of printing. In the course of the 16th and 17th centuries the Low Countries for a time became the chief centre of the bookselling world. Modern book selling has changed dramatically with the advent of the Internet. With major websites such as Amazon, eBay, and other big book distributors offering affiliate programs, book sales have now, more than ever, been put in the hands of the small business owner. (Translated by Google) Very kind staff, does not make you feel embarrassed, does not come after you or stare at you, does not ask you what and how and where, but leaves you in your job and so you can enjoy the "carousel". I was able to find what I was looking for after about 2 hours, during which time no one told me anything but a super nice guy who asked me here can help me with something ... So yes, I would like other bookstores- You have so many chilleanu employees, because security does its job. In addition, we were able to pay with textbook / supplies vouchers or as they are called. In the end a nice girl read me Lea and packed (for an obvious fee but a small one), and I was able to give my friends what they wanted. Thank you to everyone from Cărturesti and I hope to see you again soon because I will definitely be back. ❤️? ❤️?

The book shop is really amazing! White with beautiful decorations. Few levels full of books and big part of it in English. We made big shoppings... to big. Top to floors are used for restaurant and painting gallery - but we weren't able to notice it while we were inside. The shop is located in very centre of old town, surrounded with many restaurants and old buildings.

The only thing I’m judging is the interior design which is beautiful! The place is worth visiting just to see how it looks inside. As for the store itself, the prices are pretty high but the variety of products is suprising, you can find everything there

What an amazing place. One of the most beautiful bookshops you’ll ever see. It’s light and clean, it’s lovely and cool. Loads of cool items the buy. Any nerds, games lovers or tv and film geeks need to go downstairs. Also, check out the cafe upstairs. Buy a book and sit and hang out

A huge 4 story bookstore with practically anything you can think of! From books, to Manga, to merch, posters, records, crafting materials, wine, coffee and even a Cafe! Many books are in English, as well as some are also available in Spanish, French, German, and of course, Romanian. A truly amazing experience and a must see when in Bucharest!

What an experience. The book store has the decoration synchronized from floor to ceiling. The hand rails from the top floor were bleeding to the ceiling of the bottom floor creating a nice illusion. See some pictures below. The main and central piece of art is standing in the air in the middle of the building. Very attractive and stands out from the white of the walls and ceiling. It's free to get in and there's a bar on the top floor.

Indeed it is one of the most stunning and captivating bookshop I have seen so far. The Carousel of Light name fits perfectly with its towering white columns, spiral staircases, bright and bathe in light. An absolute must visit for any literary traveler, getting lost in a spectacular place filled with books + the upper level has a plant filled bistro, pause and enjoy a cuppa and continue to explore its vast collection. Best time to be here: early in the day. The closest Metro stop: Universitate

This place is a one stop shop for lots more than just books which makes it even better. From teas, coffee, stationary, chocolates and mugs. All of these in its highest quality form. There's also lots of small items which are perfect gift ideas. The top floor is a cafe and the floor below that was a pop up gallery. The bottom floor has lots of comic and pop culture too.

(Translated by Google) Unlike Verona, for example (which is, in turn, a wonderful place), the Carousel is much more airy, the orientation using the markings to specific sections being easier. The selection of literature is interesting, although it seems - it probably just seems to me - it does not offer the air of completeness that Verona has. However, it is a place where I stop most of the time if I pass through the center. (Original) Spre deosebire de Verona, spre exemplu (care este, la rândul său, un loc minunat), Carusel este mult mai aerisit, orientarea folosind marcajele către secțiile specifice fiind mai facilă. A beautiful building, great decorations and nice atmosphere. The downside: too few floor staff and those who helped didn't know we'll their selection of books. And a bit pricey, which is understandable given that this bookshop is a tourist attraction.

A nice bookstore! I don't know about "most beautiful" in the world, since I've been in some pretty comparable places. But it was cool! Standard commercial bookstore selection and a small selection of gift items.

Beautiful library building dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. Although the library is more recent and the building went through many renovations. The library that’s there is part of a chain. Many people believe that the name means “Carousel of Light”, but it is actually not. It’s the name of the chain itself. The library has many things to offer, not just books, they also offer travel items, and some delicatessen as examples. Entrance is free and open to public. The building outside is quite discreet, but the inside is the real highlight. You won’t be disappointed ;)

Love this place! From getting a good book or a present for a love one or even getting a souvenir. Also they have a few spots to sit and read with soft background music.

Тhe most amazing bookstore I have ever seen! Wonderful decorations and lighting, free entrance, The location is easy to find, in the historic center of the city (Old Town) The store is set on several levels, the books are grouped, a little bit expensive in my opinion, but they could be a special gift to relatives or loved ones. On the last floor you can get a drink, Enjoy :)

Wonderful place! Architecture is amazing. The gift program is excellent; there are plenty of cups, gadgets, note books, books in English, dictionaries, Dracula’s souvenires, board games, puzzles, mind games; kids program is colourful and carefully selected.

Gigantic library with a coffee spot at the top level. You can find all kinds of books, notebooks, pens, bags, toys and souvenirs. The architecture of the building is also beautiful, so go inside even if it just to take a look.

A beautiful and very Instagram friendly bookshop! Highly recommended for getting good photos and videos for all your social media content. Oh and they sell books too! I was pleasantly surprised about how good the access was. Ramp to the front door and lift inside. Pretty awesome 😎 a must for any Bucharest trip especially book lovers

It's an amazing place. Well designed and in a very hood taste, "Escher" like... Books, tea, coffee, arts and craft item, designed items and more... A "must visit" place, better than a museum... :)

CUTEST PLACE IN BUCHAREST! ❤️ the bookshop is amazing! They have a selection of books in English and Spanish (surprisingly) and they have cute Romanian souvenirs. There is a lovely cafe on top, the barista wasn’t the nicest nor the friendliest, but she made some good coffee 😅 you must visit this place while in Bucharest!

One of the most beautiful bookstores in Romania, located in a historical building on Lipscani street and indded an architectural masterpiece 🏛️You can buy some books but also enjoy a coffee on the top floor that offers a great view of the entire bookstore 📚. Also a great place for reading or working. Great variety of books, from fiction to education or kids literature but not only, you can also buy a present for your dear ones such as tea sets or mugs ☕️🫖🥤. Lovely stuff! 🫶 🔝Elevator access 🔝Wheelchair accessible 🔝Kids friendly

An ethereal and airy bookshop with a wide selection of books and artwork. This is one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world, and is almost Elvish in its architecture. The shop has a good selection of books in numerous languages, so it is not just artistic, but functional also.

One of the most beautiful bookstore I have visited. Huge variety of books, even English one. And there are many others things to buy there - from souvenirs to coffee mugs and teas. A must spot, when visiting Bucharest! Even if it can get crowded, you really don`t bother.

A wonderful place with huge variety of literature, gifts, souvenirs, etc. There are total 6 floors, one of them is underground and offers comics, manga, and the highest one is cafeteria, also beautifully arranged with pictures and so on. Definitely worth the visit if you are in Bucharest, especially in that time of the year.

Lovely bookstore in Bucharest. Definitely a must, while in Bucharest! Always a delight to be here with children also - we love drinking tea and enjoying some biscuits (gingerbread these days) at the top floor.
