Hi again Sam, just wanted to say how much I enjoyed my two weeks at Sumalee. To train at the gym where my Muay Thai hero, Jordan Coe, trained was a Muay Thai dream come true. Sumalee is the complete package. I enjoyed everything about it. Most of all the interesting people I met from all over the world- from Canada to Britain, from Spain to Germany. But the very best thing about Sumalee is that it is a no ego gym. People came from all over the world with different levels of competency and no one was judged. Nothing but support and encouragement. Hopefully, one day, I’ll be able to come back again. With every good wish to you and your Mum. Steve

If you're looking for Muay Thai training, I highly recommend Sumalee Boxing Gym. The gym is conveniently located, not far from the airport and the beach, right in the center. It's also close to the Robinson Shopping Mall in the Thalang area. The gym is clean and quiet, making it the perfect place for Muay Thai training and yoga. All the teachers and staff here are incredibly friendly.

An amazing and a very humble experience for me going on this trip to Sumalee Phuket. My 5 days of training is only a fraction of what I have learn. I will definitely come back and I am looking at my calendar pretty soon, I think. Went there without any expectations, but the friendship I made along the way is priceless. Thank you Lynne, Sam and Sun and all the amazing trainers & trainees!!!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Sumalee Muay Thai Training Resort and Gym, and I must say, it was an absolute dream come true. From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the warm welcome and the genuine friendliness of the staff. The resort's accommodation was comfortable, clean, and provided everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The food at Sumalee Muay Thai was simply outstanding. Each meal was a delightful blend of local flavors, and the variety was impressive. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I looked forward to every mealtime. The staff was always attentive and ensured that every dining experience was enjoyable. But what truly sets Sumalee Muay Thai apart is the incredible team of trainers and coaches. Among them, Coach King was an absolute standout. His expertise in Muay Thai was evident, and he patiently taught me various techniques and strategies to improve my skills. I couldn't have asked for a better mentor during my training sessions. During my stay, I was pleasantly surprised when the staff organized a heartwarming celebration for my birthday. They surprised me with a delicious birthday cake and threw a small party with my fellow guests. It made me feel like part of a big, caring family, and I'll cherish that memory forever. The training itself was intense yet incredibly fun. The coaches knew how to push us to our limits while ensuring we enjoyed the process. Laughter filled the gym as we bonded over jokes and shared experiences, creating a friendly and encouraging atmosphere. I made lifelong friends among my fellow trainees and even got to know some new people from different parts of the world. Sumalee Muay Thai is not just a gym; it's a place where you can immerse yourself in Thai culture, make lasting memories, and grow as a person. I would wholeheartedly recommend this training resort to anyone, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned athlete. The experience is unparalleled, and I guarantee you'll leave with a sense of accomplishment, a smile on your face, and unforgettable memories. In conclusion, my time at Sumalee Muay Thai Training Resort and Gym was nothing short of amazing. The combination of excellent accommodation, delectable food, friendly and approachable staff, and top-notch coaching by Coach King made this an experience of a lifetime. If you're looking for a place to improve your Muay Thai skills, meet incredible people, and have an absolute blast, Sumalee Muay Thai is the place to be. I can't wait to return for another fantastic journey of growth and camaraderie!

I spent a week at Sumalee and it was an amazing experience. I was extremely nervous before the trip as I was traveling by myself and I was a beginner. Lynne was very reassuring when I emailed her about my concerns. The facilities are nice, safe, and clean. The food is really good. Everyone is extremely nice and welcoming. I can’t emphasize enough how great the coaching team is. All of them were patient, nice, encouraging, very engaged , and friendly. I can’t wait to go back.

Sumalee was one of the most incredible experiences ive ever done ! The Muay thai was so so good, extremely hard work but such a fun way to keep fit. The trainers and staff were so so lovely and everyone was like a massive family! The food was tasty and there was different options to choose from every day, all very healthy and nutritious. The menu changes every week too. There were healthy snacks and smoothies aswell ! The cook was super cool too😁 The yoga instructor Leighton was lovely and really welcoming and so good at what he does! The yoga classes really helped after the Muay Thai, a definitely needed extra stretch and cool down. The lady that does the massages was an absolute gem and knew exactly how to help with your aches and pain from the training, soooo relaxing! The accommodation was lovely and the Aircon was very much-needed and a good one too! Theres also a pool which was great when the sun was out and shining. As soon as i left i was already planning my return trip back to sumalee! I cant wait to return early next year ☺️

Sumalee is like no other retreat I’ve been too! Incredible 3 weeks spent here. The wonderful team at Sumalee made me feel super comfortable and at home soon as I arrived. I intuitively chose Sumalee over the rest and I’m so glad I did :) The Muay Thai training is so fun, I was new to Muay Thai but that doesn’t matter here, all 3 trainers are great teachers and make it a fun experience every time I trained! The yoga was the perfect way to relax and stretch my body after Muay Thai. Both yoga teachers have a beautiful way of teaching and I loved that there was different styles of yoga being taught throughout my stay. The food here helped me stay within my fitness goals and each week there was a delicious new menu and I’m really happy it also catered for vegans and vegetarians! A MUST is a massage off the lovely on-site masseuse- she is the massage queen! Sumalee will be missed a lot along with all the beautiful people that are there! 1000% will be coming back to stay here 😊 Thank you Sumalee team ✌🏽

I had originally booked on the yoga package for one week and ended up extending my stay as I was having such a great time. As a Muay Thai beginner, the trainers were really helpful and would adapt the training to suit my ability. The food is also very tasty with lots of vegetarian and vegan options.

My husband and I spent 4 days with Sumalee in Oct. We signed up for the platinum package which included 3 meals, daily 1-1 training, yoga, massage and 2x group classes. Very good value and it gave us a balance between training, skills and a retreat experience. The location was good - just 20mins ride to Kamala beach for surfing. The stay was great, particularly delighted by the hospitality, well-strutured muay thai training programs and the most delicious healthy meals! Khun Keng and Khun Rong are great trainers. Definitely recommending it to everyone who wants some serious but fun muay thai/retreat experience. Love also how the owners Lynne and Sam are being so committed to guest experience!

A very nice small scale muay thai gym. I came here as a complete novice and got plenty of personal attention from the trainers. Awesome guys. The upgraded room was spacious en has everything you'll need. The atmosphere at the camp is very relaxed and laid back, easy to make new friends! Sam did an amazing job with the breakfast and lunch each day. It's healthy, filling and will helps you get in shape.

I stayed at Sumalee Boxing Gym for seven nights and opted for their platinum package, which provided a plethora of amenities. The package included a daily one-hour personal training session, as well as two group sessions per day—one from 7:30 am to 9 am and another from 4 pm to 6 pm. This was more than sufficient to get a good workout. The package also came with a daily oil or Thai massage, which was fantastic for post-training recovery. On top of that, daily yoga sessions were included, offering another excellent way to stretch out sore muscles. The staff at Sumalee were not only professional and courteous, but also genuinely enjoyable to be around. My package included three meals a day and a protein shake, which perfectly fueled me for each training session. The food was delicious and precisely what my body needed for recovery. The room was impeccably clean, maintained daily, and came with a convenient laundry service. I could simply toss my sweaty training gear into a basket, and it would reappear—washed and drying—ready for the next session. Sam and the team have put together an extraordinary package for those looking to elevate their fitness, unwind with some yoga, and nourish themselves with high-quality food. A big thank-you to Sam and the team for a wonderful stay.

Sumalee Boxing Gym really lives up to its 5-star reputation. It's not just about the training; it's the whole experience that makes it special. There's a great community feel with the staff, trainers, and other gym-goers who make everyone feel welcome, especially for a beginner like me who was clueless about Muay Thai! The training is tough but tailored to your level, which is impressive. Head Coach Khru Keng and his team are not only knowledgeable but also bring a lot of fun to the sessions. It's not all about the training though; there's yoga, massages, and personalised nutrition plans that make it a well-rounded experience. The facilities are top-notch – clean, well-maintained, and the pool is a bonus. There's also a convenient store nearby for any last-minute needs, and Robinson's Lifestyle Talang is just a short walk away for more shopping. Special mention to Khru Luay for the one-on-one sessions, really helpful in improving technique and confidence. The gold package is great value, with the added benefits of yoga and massage, perfect for recovery. There's a real sense of community at Sumalee. From celebrating birthdays to supporting each other at events, it's more than just a training camp. I particularly enjoyed the social events like the guest chef night. Booking directly with the gym was easy and they respond quickly to any queries. A huge thanks to everyone at Sumalee – Lynne, Sam, Sun, Khru Keng, and the rest of the team. It's an experience I won't forget, and I'm already thinking about when I can return.

I was at Sumalee for 4 weeks, and it was a great experience 😊 I came to train Muy Thai while simultaneously work. And at Sumalee you have a very good setup for that. They have their own kitchen, so you can eat and train where you live, and you dont need to worry about any logistics. Regarding the Muy Thai, the coaches are fantastic. Both with skill level, but also beautiful persons. Which also goes for the rest of the people working there, managers and chef and messause. We also went playing football at a local stadium one day with the entire crew, which was awesome! Miss the people at Sumalee already!

Amazing Muay Thai camp, couldn't recommend any more! The staff are extremely caring and quick to respond and help with any queries you may have, the trainers are great quality and although the training is very physically demanding they are still able to get you through each session with a smile on your face and a few laughs. There is a great family/community type atmosphere and I enjoyed forming relationships with some of the trainers and staff here; as well as other guests. The location was perfect for me as it is nicely tucked away from the busy streets and close enough to get to and from beaches, markets and shops without too long of a drive. I had no problems with my room and was even upgraded free of charge as I didn't want to stay in the same room as another person which was much appreciated! Wether you're looking to get in shape, prepare for a fight or just unwind and try something new Sumalee is a great place to do this at and I will definitely be a return guest!

We spent 4 days at Sumalee and enjoyed the experience a lot. Everything is in one place - Muay Thai, yoga, massage and great nutritious meals, so we could really focus on having a wellness retreat. The quality of the menu is superb - not super wide range of choices but everything was so fresh and carefully prepared. The Muay Thai trainers deserve a special mention - you would really gain a lot of technical skills through the 1on1s. Their massage is a heavenly lifesaver at the end of the day.

I was one week at sumalee gym and had a gold package. I really enjoyed my time at sumalee gym. Sam and the staff were always very friendly and helpful. The group training was made for beginners and also advanced. The training was intense but also connected with some fun. The meals they offered are packed with nutrition and are very delicious. I mostly enjoyed the breakfast. However, overall it was totally worth the money and time. :D

A no non-nonsense Muay -Thai gym with great trainers. Great hands on owner who is very welcoming, friendly and accomodating. The swimming pool is good and there are lawns outside all rooms - loved walking on the grass each morning. Food is really really really good. It's healthy and balanced also. Good to meet other folks who are there for some serious training. Anyone who wants to be away from the distractions of Phuket and is looking to focus on self improvement and growth - this is the place. Massage was not the best but that's alright. Thanks for the wonderful experience Sam!

Sumalee Muay Thai is without a doubt one of the best gyms in Phuket. Their trainers are all extremely knowledgeable, they push you too your limit while also being mindful of injury and not overworking you. Unlike other gyms I trained at you get a lot of individual attention from the trainers and have a very authentic Thai Muay Thai experience. I trained here for 1 month and took an amateur fight at the end which I won thanks to the excellent training I received from Sumalee and particularly Keng who was my 1-to-1 teacher. I also suffered a few injuries during my training but in site strength and conditioning coach Sean was really helpful giving me a thorough assessment and series of exercises which resolved all my issues. It’s a great peace of mind knowing someone like that is on site to keep you in optimal physical condition outside of the Muay Thai training. The gym also offered yoga and massage which was great to undo all the tightness from the long sessions. It’s also a very friendly vibe between trainers and other guests without sacrificing the high level and serious training you will get. Cant recommend enough and will certainly be coming back!

Amazing trip!! Can't wait to come back next year!!! I have just returned from a 2 week trip to Sumalee and what an amazing two weeks it was! As an overweight, unfit person I wanted to challenge myself and do something out of my comfort zone, so I booked a week's stay at Sumalee. I was initially very worried before my trip that I wouldn't like what I was getting myself into, but my experience reassured me very quickly that I made the right choice and I had an such an amazing time that I ended up extending my stay for a second week! When booking the trip, as a complete beginner, I had an abundance of questions and bombarded the team with emails, but Lynne (the owner) was on hand to answer all my emails quickly and efficiently making sure I was comfortable before I even made my booking. This for me was a great start as I felt I had picked the right place. When I arrived I was greeted by Rhian (the second owner) who sat down to go through all the elements of the package I had booked and talked me through the local area and places to visit. Rhian was always interacting with guests making sure everyone was conformable and enjoying their stay which is great to see owners taking so much pride in interacting with guests. The customer service at this place during my stay was phenomenal from everyone from the owners, trainers, chefs to the cleaners. Once I arrived I instantly started enjoying the challenge. There are two training sessions per day and I also did some 1:1 sessions as well. The trainers are a great team to work with and they identify your strengths and weaknesses pretty quickly to push you to your limits. There is no ego in the training sessions, you train hard, they push you to your limits and they make sure you walk out better than you were the last session. It shows that these guys know the sport inside and out as they take a lot of pride in their teachings and work with you to help you perfect your technique. They also have Yoga classes, but i didn't do any as i was there mainly for the Muay Thai, but speaking with some other people staying, they really raved about how good these classes and the instructor were! The on-site restaurant is an absolute blessing as once you have trained you’re starving. The chef is fantastic and cooks up some delicious authentic Thai dishes. She was always happy to try and accommodate any dietary requests as well. I would recommend anyone visiting to get on the meal plan so you can sample all the delicious dishes. For me the whole experience was simply amazing and team at Sumalee have done a fantastic job to make sure their guests have an enjoyable stay. This was my first trip and it most certainly won’t be my last, I am already planning my next visit to return next year! Thank you Sumalee and see you next year!!

An outstanding place for Muey Thai and Yoga which has a Vegan Cafe that is superb. Authentic boxing with real fighters and yoga in a special Sala with a fantastic teacher that tailors the class for all levels. I’m a yoga novice and I am so pleased I decided after all these years to start. I feel younger and stand up straight and if you are older you should definitely give it a try. I’m a paying client and I receive no benefits for this recommendation.

Just came home from a 10 day stay! I can't get over how amazing my time was! From the training, to the food, location and accommodation, I have zero complaints. The trainers are fun, outgoing, skilled, knowledgeable and welcoming. They make you feel at home right away. The group sessions are a lot of fun and a great work out. During the session you get some 1x1 time with the trainers to meet your particular training needs. I got private sessions daily, which were my favorite part. I learned so much I had to record my sessions so I wouldn't forget! The food at the restaurant was delicious and made you feel great! As well as the juice at Revitalize! The location is amazing as well! You are just a short cab ride away from many beaches and Bangla road. There are a few restaurants in the area as well as a short walk away. The house keeping was great as well! My laundry was clean daily, which comes in handy when training 3x/day! The thai massages they offer on campus are also AMAZING! Don't miss out on that as well! If you are traveling alone and are skeptical, don't be! I traveled alone and most of the other people there were alone as well! You make friends with everyone and end up doing things as a group. I will definitely be back for a longer stay next time! This place is a gem and you're missing out if you don't visit!

Couldn't recommend this place more. Coaches are excellent, staff are really friendly, and the facilities are the perfect mix of modern and traditional. Trained in a lot of Muay Thai places and this is by far the best, the trainers will spend time getting to know your style and tailor their training to fit you, which adds to the friendly atmosphere as well.

This Muay Thai camp is the perfect retreat to get away and really focus on fitness and training. The trainers are all really fun and enthusiastic and always keen to help you improve. With yoga on offer every day, this is the greatest way to recover after intense training, and with healthy, delicious food alway being served up at the on site restaurant, you will feel strong and healthy after only a few days. I will definitely be back here, and I recommend anyone looking to try something new and fun head over to Sumalee

I've been here a week so far with another month to go. I am very happy with my choice to come here and train. Muay Thai training has been demanding, the coaches are friendly and are gradually improving my fitness, form and technique. I'm attending both the morning and afternoon classes, the coaches are attentive and really want me to develop. Yoga is a great addition to help with recovery and flexibility as well as improving my core strength. The nutrition is phenomenal, tasty, nutritious and allows me to recover adequately and truth be told this is the healthiest I've eaten. The on site massues is a magician and keeps me able to keep training.

I have just returned from a week's stay at Sumalee and it couldn't have been better. I normally don't write reviews, good or bad, but this place deserves one. I had booked the beginner package which had accommodation, gear, food and three weekly private lessons etc included. Prior to my trip I was researching different camps and it was quite a jungle to figure out what camp was best for me. My premise was that I didn't want to stay in larger, crowded camp and Sumalee was definitely the right choice. It was very quiet and everyone was welcoming and nice. I ended up attending private lessons every day to maximize my time there. The group lessons rarely had more than 6-7 people anyway, with 4+ trainers, which is phenomenal. I do think it has to do with the off-season. What was really the highlight of the trip was my private lessons with Nin, what a champ. He spoke a limited English but sufficient enough. He was extremely patient which is important as a beginner. He taught me loads of technique over the course of a week, more than I had imagined, while constantly pushing my strength and conditioning to the absolute max. And it's safe to say my elbows are Nin certified now. The camps itself has everything you need, WIFI works OK. There was a TV in my room with a few English speaking channels. There is not a lot of things to see/do within walking distance of the camp, so bring some books and perhaps a laptop etc. I will definitely return.

Great people, they focus on your weaknesses and there are A LOT of trainers. You will be looked after and trained every step of the way. The trainers have extensive 200-300 fight records and are good guides as a result!

Without doubt the most friendly Muay Thai club I've ever been to. So good that I've been there on two separate holidays to Thailand and will certainly be going back again. The trainers are friendly but also push you hard, the accommodation is clean and super comfortable and best of all, the management are incredibly helpful and sincere. I truly love Sumalee. If you're looking for a small gym with a personal service, then this is it!

I love this place so much! First time I came to Sumalee was in 2018 as a solo female traveller who had never done martial arts before, let alone intense workouts and I had the best time. It was so welcoming, the trainers are the best I've ever had and the accommodation is great. I even met my fiance here - he actually proposed (with the help of Lynne the owner) on our second visit to Sumalee. Thank you Lynne and Sun for helping Sinan! Safe to say, I love this place and will always come back whenever I am in Phuket.

My time at Sumalee was magical .. the training was hard but achievable with world class coaches. The food was healing and tasty. Great location in real Phuket away from the mass tourist areas and in a cool thai neighborhood. Five star experience Thank you 🙏🏼

Sumalee was recommended to us by friends of ours. They visited the camp a few years ago and praised the combined Muay Thai and Yoga offering. We are both complete Muay Thai beginners, so were somewhat apprehensive about committing to a longer stay without any idea what to expect. Nonetheless, we initially booked a 3-week visit over Christmas and New Years and ended up extending by another week – it really was that amazing! We loved that the gym isn’t as large as some of the others (it was relatively empty during COVID). This meant a lot of 1:1 time with the trainers and also allowed us to quickly bond with the other guests. My impression is that Sumalee attracts a fantastic group of people, from complete beginners to very advanced students, but all very respectful and nice (this clearly did not seem to be the case at a few other places after driving around Phuket). The trainers are exceptional and make all the difference. Always happy, patient, and helpful and ensuring a good atmosphere during the lessons. Ultimately you get out what you put in, but equally there is no pressure if you chose to go the beach instead of class (it feels like a tough bootcamp and a holiday at the same time). Sun, who’s the office manager, and Kung, who runs the little vegan café, where incredibly friendly and helpful. And not to forget a big shoutout to Bun who runs the coffee shop across the street - really good ice lattes and smoothies! Again, this is just a personal preference, but we liked the larger suites as they offer more comfort, privacy and their own hammocks. Morten already provided an in-depth overview below so just read what he’s got to say :) thanks buddy!

What a great place. This is the second Muay Thai training camp I have visited in Thailand. First time I stayed 6 weeks in Phetchabun, that was in 2019. This time I stayed 4 weeks at Sumalee. I loved it! I came here to train Muay Thai and nothing else. No partying or tourist activities. Sumalee came through as a perfect place to focus on the training and relax between the sessions. The rooms are big and clean and close to the training facilities. There's a small well maintained pool in the middle of the property and possibilities for massage as much as you want. If you want to relax with a book, there are hammocks in the Yoga-Shala and sun beds by the pool. If you need to check in at work from time to time, Sumalee has an ok wifi connection and desks in the rooms. For breakfast and lunch, there's a little vegan restaurant on the property with very good toasts and other things for breakfast and a warm dish for lunch. For dinner there's a great restaurant just next door with an impressive menu. The MT training schedule was mornings from 07:30 to 09:00 and afternoons from 4pm to 6pm. In between you can book private sessions with one of the trainers of your choice. I needed to get better on blocking and dodging, so I had most of my private sessions with the trainer I felt was the best for that. All the trainers had wonderful personalities and managed to keep the training fun and full of energy. I felt cared for and had a lot of progress. You can also rent a scooter at Sumalee. That was great for small trips to Bangtao and to the shops and so on. My stay was during covid, and Phuket was very quiet. Sumalee was not running on all cylinders but delivered above expectations anyway. It would be fun to go back and see the place in full operation. Also, good to observe that covid was taken seriously. The trainers and staff tested every other day and Lynne took time to follow up and guide the guests in the Thai covid rules. I highly recommend this place.

I cannot recommend Sumalee enough! Absolutely loved my one-week stay in the Thai lodge. There are an incredible team of trainers on-site, that were very patient with me as a beginner to Muay Thai. (But will also push you once they see some progress). -2x training sessions per day included in the accommodation price! -Optional yoga class, which was equally great. -Clean rooms -Great facilities (pool, on-site masseuse) -Personalised meals each day I would 100% return and would highly recommend to anyone considering Muay Thai training in Phuket.

I don’t even know where to start with this ‘review’.. I would like to make this review a moment of gratitude! First of all, Sam, what a magical place you have created! Thank you for your hospitality and kindness. I had an absolute blast. I am very grateful I could stay at Sumalee for these 4 weeks. Not only you but the whole crew makes this place special. To start with Sean, fitness coach for all strength & conditioning classes, professional, kind, pushing himself and others around him. Knowledgeable, really motivating and helpful during my stay. Thank you Sean for sharing your knowledge and helping me getting better and stronger! You are an absolute legend! Olga, our wonderful yoga instructor, Thank you for holding space for me however I showed up in class. I appreciate all that you’ve thought me. You are one of a kind. Thank you. Kob, Thank you for all the wonderful and very much needed massages! I loved our little conversations. Sun, thank you for the rides to the mall and helping me getting settled here. Thank you Kung & Nang for cooking and preparing my meals everyday. Every day, it was ready at the time we agreed on and every morning after my Muay Thai Session there was a protein smoothie waiting for me. Apple and Zaar, thank you for taking care of my laundry, making my bed and cleaning my room everyday! Last but not least the best trainers I could have wished for, Sir Khru Keng (head trainer), you are the absolute best. Thanks for pushing me and ‘killing me’ every session. Together with your crew, Khru Ant, Khru Ruune, Khru Luay and Khru Sam, you made this experience better than I had hoped for. Although there is (obviously) a lot of testosterone walking around a boxing gym, you guys made me feel safe and comfortable being there. I really felt part of the team. This place is absolute magic, if you come with the right mindset! It is what you make out of it yourself! Life is as good as your mindset! Always remember that! If your looking for a challenge, a sporty vacation, yoga or just one Muay Thai Class, this is the place to be! No need to look any further! Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for making my stay beyond wonderful. One Love, always! Mel
