The food was good but 480++ is pretty steep. It could be the ingredients that were expensive. Imo the shari rice was average but Ingredients good for the sushi. The cooked dishes were good. Prefer the chef telling me what I am eating instead of the service staff. Service was excellent though. Whether it's 2 michelin stars and worth the price, try to find out.

I was very fortunate to be able to dine in for the Miyabi $320 and Hana $480 lunch set. It is truly an experience to witness the chef who's also an artist and perfectionist preparing the food before you. Had a wonderful time, the ambient and setting captured the essence of omakase dining, felt like we're in Japan. Each individual piece of sushi you put in your mouth will tells a story by itself through the complex flavour. Joking, I'm not that pro lah, actually it's the staff that will tell you the story lol. They did a wonderful job setting the atmosphere! Would highly recommend to give it a try!

A sublime experience. We loved every single dish. There was a good amount served - we were full at the end, but not uncomfortably so. The sushi is incredible, and the other dishes are unique and tasty. The service is also done very well, quite attentive but not overbearing. It isn't cheap but you will enjoy every minute.

This was a divine experience. Wemt there to celebrate my wifes bday and it's actually my first omakase experience. Food was excellent, vibe was excellent, everything was just top notch. A bit on the expensive side but well worth it. Location is also awesome. After a nice meal you can go outside and walk by the river taking photos. Trull a magnificent place to go to for special events.

Had the privilege of being treated to a 20 course omakase meal here by a loved one. In my review, I will be comparing Shoukouwa to the top restaurants at Tsukiji in Japan as a benchmark for top tier sushi. If we are talking about just the plain old raw fish, the intrinsic taste of the fish at Tsukiji was undeniably better - they tasted fresher, fattier, and more flavorful. But I think where Shoukouwa shines is the complex combination of flavors in the dishes. At Tsukiji, it makes sense for them to just slap some raw fish on rice and let the quality of the fish do the talking, because you can't get fresher fish anywhere else in the world. It is hard to replicate that freshness in Singapore, but I think that Shoukouwa does a great job of still delivering amazing tastes and flavors through a combination of very well thought out complementary ingredients and sauces. Each bite is a whole experience in itself with all the different textures and flavors dancing in your mouth. Considering that the price of this restaurant is comparable to a round trip ticket to Japan, it is probably best reserved for special occasions. Definitely an unforgettable experience if you have the money to spend.

We were very lucky to have the head chef to serve us when we dined at Shoukouwa on 8 July 2020. The ingredients are so fresh and so thoughtfully prepared that it brings out the flavor of the food - we felt like heaven with every bite. The food is best paired with sake. We had 十四代。It was smooth and sweet and flavorful. Service is exceptional and we enjoyed our dining experience there. It’s unquestionably worth the 2-Michelin Star. We will definitely visit again.

I would actually give the place 6 stars because I've given other sushi places 5 stars and this is better. Totally deserving of its 2 Michelin stars. A lot of interesting fishes were featured, and each was executed perfectly. Service and ambience are also top-notched.

Undoubtedly the best Omakase experience you could get in Singapore. The sushi chef was incredibly professional, friendly and a master at his craft. The staff members were also attentive, highly knowledgeable and cordial. The ingredients were very fresh and presented in unique and satisfying combinations. Would highly recommend and I hope to make a return visit soon.

I found it bit surprising as we did not receive any greetings from the chef, not at all, from we arrived till we finished, not even a nod or eye contact. He was only a food provider, that was his style I guess, but I just feel quite uncomfortable and uncommon. The lady who took care of us was very nice and friendly, thanks for all the information provided, as the chef don’t talk. Also I didn’t expect the whole thing was so quick, we finished our lunch within 1.5hour, which was incredible for a fine dining like this. The food was great, I did enjoy most of the dishes, considering the price you paid for transportation of those fresh materials, it was fair enough. Overall, I would say this place is worth a visit.

Excellent meal and best sushi I’ve had outside of Japan bar none, including NYC, SF, HK and elsewhere. Of course you are charged a pretty penny even without drinks but like all non Chinese /Hawker food in SG, you expect to pay a premium. Service level was good. Not too obtrusive and a relaxed elegance. Chef was engaging and friendly, unlike some of the more somber places in Ginza and Roppongi that I could name. Most dishes were memorable and if I could do it again, I would definitely opt in for a 2nd hand roll and more of that uni, abalone liver rice.

The food here is exquisite and the staff attentive. It’s on the pricey side though, and I wouldn’t necessarily say the value for money is amazing. My friend wanted an additional order of prawn nigiri on top of the omakase menu. This she got, and draped with uni on top which she enjoyed. That one piece of sushi came to $50, though, which I think is hard to justify.

It's the best sushiya in Singapore at the moment. The produce was of the highest quality and every single dish and piece of sushi was meticulously crafted and balanced. The chef was so attentive to customers even when preparing the meal. Service staff was excellent! 10 stars!!! Will definitely be back again.

One of best omakase that I have ever tried. The abalone dish was a highlight with it soft texture and you can taste the sweetness. All the ingredients were top notch along with the attentive service. They provide you with a menu and card detailing the seafood used in each dish.

I would give this place a 4.5. The chef is obviously very experienced and talented. Watching him assemble each shari and gently place the piece of fish on top, was like watching a dance performance. There were some amazing pieces and some “good” pieces. I would go back to try it again :)

If budget is no objection , then this Michelin ⭐️⭐️ Japanese restaurant is the one to go to . The skill level of the head chef and the best ingredients that he uses and at the same time very generous make this Japanese restaurant to be one of my favorite . There are many Japanese that charges a lot but under delivered . However , Shoukouwa is different although I still prefer the liver sauce in the Awabi from Sushi Sakuta as well as the Nodoguro . Definitely will be back again 👍

Two Michelin stars - nothing else said. Head Chef Nishida-san was brilliantly part of the experience & humorous. One of the best omakase.
