The Spiehuis is an old house in the forest close to Baarn and Den Dolder which was used as a hunting Lodge. This can still be seen in the atmospheric interior with paintings, trophies and old rifles from that time. Now it is an upper class family-owned restaurant. The menu offers lots of choices, with the traditional boar, hare, deer in the season, but also good options for people not that much into game. The service is impeccable, but a bit slow, the food very good, all on the traditional side. Quite expensive which (only) a few dishes can't live up to, especially in the dessert section. Excellent restaurant with delicious dishes in a nice setting. But not serving any decent beers claiming "we only serve wine" is really old fashioned. I'm sure there are some excellent local breweries that can provide beers that can easily compete with your wines!
