Welcoming, friendly and great tasting food. I will remember this pub because they were great with my little one and interacted with him so well. They had a open fire going and gave him a marshmallow to toast which he loved. A great selection of drinks as well as food. The food and service was friendly and professional and we will definitely be back. The food was tasty and also arrived quickly. The pub is in a perfect location as you'll see from the photos and is a 5 minute walk from the train station.

Great place good food and service great location by the river two plate sizes with most of the main dishes so someone with a small appetite are catered for at £ 7.50 each, staff are on the ball clearing tables after bringing meals out so not going back to kitchen empty handed. (Brilliant) Small plate of scampi. (Picture)

I ate here last weekend. I was in a rush to eat before my boat trip. I emphasised this to the staff and they were great. Food came out very quick. And it was delicious. Service was great. I would happily return, when I'm in the area.

On a Summer's day in Henley this is the best place, but in fact the only place if you want to have a drink but the riverside. It's not the cheapest place to buy a drink. But the ambience is fantastic. With the historic Henley bridge and the rivee full of boats it's a wonderful setting.

This place is a always beautiful to eat outside. Their terrace menu is tasty and you get to sit by the river and watch the world go by. The food was delivered extraordinarily quickly today which was brilliant. Must have had lots of Mozerella pesto sandwiches on standby :)

Big place, lively inside and clean, 2 bars but only one open when we was there, no problem with the food, I had the chicken tikka Masala, it came with 2 poppadoms, garlic naan and chutney, it was really nice, hubby had the steak & kidney pudding but said he would prefer something else next time as only a little meat in them but still tasty, staff was very nice but not many in as tables were left uncleared for a while, we had to move stuff of ours to sit in the window table, will be visiting again next time..

Absolutely gorgeous pub. Fortunately it was a sunny day so we managed to sit next to the water. Such a lovely atmosphere and view whilst enjoying a drink.

Nice little pub, good food reasonable for the location. Pub is in a great place right on the river. Staff were very helpful and pleasant 😊

Perfect lunch spot on a bitter, cold, damp winter's day. The fire was warm, service was excellent and the real ales and fire in the old public bar were picture-book perfect. IF you want period charm done well in super-friendly surroundings, this is your place.

We did not make any reservations as we arrive at Henley-on-Thames by accident. The young waitress was very friendly and after talking to her supervisor, we were offered a table but we have to make sure that we finish our meals before the next reservation. The food is great, atmosphere is great, it was a rainy days so we have to find a shelter and we ended up here for lunch. Thanks to the young friendly waitress(sorry i didnt take down her name) that makes us feel relax having our lunch there. Really recommended, even if you just need a place for a drink.

Amazing pub both inside and out! It's cosy inside with different nooks and crannies. Outside, there are plenty of tables perched overlooking the river. Service is great too. Outside has its own small bar with plenty of bar staff meaning you don't have to wait to be served. The food has also impressed when I've been there. At other places, often when you order a steak baguette, the steak is so tough you have to eat it separate to the baguette no matter how hard you try to eat it together. That's not the case at the Angel! The steak was so tender it was a joy to eat.

Their lovely terrace by the river is the highlight of that typical English pub - the vibes were immaculate: do really recommend on a sunny day! The food was good, big crush on the dessert: our table ordered almost every desert on the menu and they really tasted deliciously. Food is home made, go Henley!

The Angel is, as the name suggests, on the river and the area alongside the river is crammed with tables to allow the most people possible to enjoy the views. It does mean the area isn't generous on space and you could be very close to others but we went on a weekday afternoon so wasn't peak hours. The area was bar service so you check your table number and order at the bar, this is then delivered to your table. Food was good, I liked that they had a good vegetarian option (leak and feta pastry) and that they offered mains in a smaller portion for a reduced price ideal for lunch. Staff were friendly and helpful but not always the quickest to clear tables. My main critique is the toilets outside on the riverside were not clean. That being my only negative, I would recommend visiting here and enjoying the views. I did not go in to other areas of the pub so can only comment on this area, but do know it is famous within Henley-on-Thames.

We had the Sunday Roast chicken, beer-battered fish & chips, scampi & chips, and seafood chowder. Everything was great, nothing special. However, the seafood chowder was slightly too salty. Plus points for the atmosphere beside the river Thames.

A must go-to place when you're in Henley. The food and the service are fantastic with lots of vegetarian options.

Great pub with a Great location in Henley. It’s right on the Thames so the views are great. Menu is small but not limited. This is a very very good sign for pubs. Things are made fresh here they claim and the food quality proves them right! We had a burger and fries to split between a few of us and it was fantastic. No parking on site but there is good parking options all within walking distance. Staff are very friendly with good humor. Limited toilet situation but they are clean and you don’t go there for the toilets. The crisps selection was upmarket and their homade pork scratching were top drawer. Would highly recommend.

Traditional pub right on the river Thames with an outside terrace open in summer. We went this time in November and had an excellent meal. Good menu with vegetarian and gluten free options. About £14 each for a main meal plus drinks. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We have been here in the summer when it gets very busy due to its prime Riverside position but its also great in the winter.

We stopped here for lunch on our stand up paddleboard tour of Henley-on-Thames. So pleased we did! The abundant staff were so accommodating and friendly. Excellent food! Very reasonably priced. Great service. Perfect setting on the river. Can't recommend this pub enough! Will definitely be back! Many thanks for such a great experience! 👍🏼

AMAZING VIEWS! lovely beer garden, staff were nice barring one who just seemed to be off with us for asking if we could have a small plate/meal for a toddler on the terrace rather than 11 of us come inside and take a table up for a 2 year old having a couple of chicken nuggets, he just told us no food on the terrace, (fair enough) but, in my 20 years of bar experience, a simple "let me see if we can pop some chips in a bag or paper plate for you" but he just said no and then became (for lack of a better term) 'off' with us... Barmaid was all smiles however... lovely place just don't expect to be able to feed any children while enjoying any views or sunshine.

Beside the River Thames, The Angel on the Bridge is a popular and pleasant pub with a large beer garden offering generous views of Henley Bridge. Go inside to order and pay for food and drinks. £3 for a small bottle of ginger beer and wine is poured into a plastic stumpy glass with three levels of pricing (small medium and large). At the bar were small bowls of assorted nuts, olives and pork scratchings for £4-£4.50. Jugs of Pimm's are available too.

Prime location, pricey nuts. £4 for a tiny bowl. Customer service pretty cool. Menu looked v average so didn’t eat there and can’t comment on food. Cask ale selection is three from same brewery. Having a drink on the river is only obvious strength. Has potential to be a great pub but currently lacking.

Enjoyed being on the river terrace overlooking the Thames. Very busy during the Summer. You order food with your table number from a little downstairs bar with nibbles thoughtfully set out for sale. Chose the pork cracklings which were really tasty. Well organised with cutlery, condiments, napkins and trays to carry drinks and stuff back to your waiting dining companions. Then your food is brought out by friendly staff but forget about staging courses. Our dessert came out first. Half size portions are available for smaller appetites. Ham hock terrine was very good, small burger was pronounced good (came with skinny fries) and we enjoyed our 1 1/2 fish and chips. Sticky toffee pudding was also quite good. Considering how busy it was, the servers removed empty plates efficiently with a smile. Convenient toilets, but very untidy area around them. Our umbrella had no base so moved around in the wind which was a bit of a distraction. Food good enough for a nice experience, staff very friendly, place clean enough.

Inside was charming and snug. Staff was friendly and very capable. Gave four stars because they truly do not know how to cook a good burger. Overdone, dry, tasteless. Basically inedible. Stop doing this to good British beef. A burger should have a warm pink center and be juicy.

Its at a great location and great staff bit food is a slight let down in my opinion. Went for lunch and tried 5 dishes but all tasted average, tried a sticky toffee pudding and that was also just average. The beer wasn't chilled either. Great location though, mind you the parking is at the rowing club but a nice walk along the river.

We visited during the regatta and it was busy. However the lovely staff sorted us out with a cosy little table near the door. We enjoyed a lovely meal and washed it down with some more drinks. We had a very relaxed time here.

Lovely characterful English pub. Went for a Sunday roast, had the rolled pork option, which came with potatoes, parsnip, carrot, green beans, cauliflower and a Yorkshire pudding. Was fantastically cooked. Meat was very tender and juicy. Amazing place to have taken the in-laws out, while they are here on holiday!

Great beer, friendly service, and fantastic setting in this beautiful town. Not much left of my delicious salmon and prawn sandwich! My favorite new addition are these new reusable plastic pint glasses. So happy to not be creating more plastic waste with the old cups. Well done.
