It is a pity that it is closed. From the top there is a beautiful view of the Riva. Beautiful frames for photography.

Very nice old town. The coolest part is that people still live in the old buildings!

It cannot be missed while walking along the waterfront. The tower as well as the entire building are there from the time of the Roman Empire. It is a big fortress so it was not easy to defend it. Such towers were certainly useful to them. :)

A palace from the time of the Roman Empire, built during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, who was a native of Dalmatia. 9,000 people used to live in the palace and now it occupies an important place in the cultural and historical heritage of Split. By the way, Diocletian's Palace is under the protection of UNESCO.

In 2016, the southeast tower was restored to the appearance it had when Roman soldiers stayed there. In Diocletian's time, it was the mithraeum, without windows, of the secret cult that governed the Empire. In the Middle Ages, it was the seat of the archbishop, who opened the windows, until the night of December 30, 1506, when valuable documents, codices and books disappeared in the flames. In the 70s, there was a restaurant and a travel agency on top, while in the 21st century, the office of the European Union moved in. Today, special exhibitions are held there. The southeastern Diocletian's Tower, built in the tradition of military castrum architecture, has a very interesting history, so I recommend visiting it

It's nice to walk along the waterfront after 35 years. I used to live on the waterfront and have nice memories. The Split waterfront and the old town are as beautiful as ever.

Beautiful city. Clean for those who want to test their palate for little money, it is highly recommended. Historically, anyway.

👍👍 Easily missed and, in my opinion, probably undervalued part of the former Palace. In here you get a sense of the scale of Diocletian's quarters, and the various rooms in there. Also some nice impressions of the archaeological process of excavating this place. More could be done with it, but still de...

👍👍 There are three things synonymous with Split: Diocletians palace, Marjan park forrest and FC Hajduk Split! Since Hajduk was founded in Prague by Split students studying there (Prague is birthplace), you could say that Stari Plac is it's cradle. It is a historic monument and I am completely against h...
