Lovely pub exactly what we wanted. Wasn't too crowded and service was quick. Order from table wasn't working but that was a very minor issue. Food was ordered from the bar and was quick, hot and delicious. Pub was clean and tidy and staff were very pleasant. Ample size car park and some outdoor seating also. Some covid measures in place with masks optional and sanitising stations available.

Good menu selection; more than you would normally see in a similar establishment. Really friendly and caring staff, especially the chef who came to our table to ensure everything was being enjoyed. Great value for money. Will certainly be back.

Probally the worst meal I’ve eaten. Our sharing Starter was missing nachos, not a great problem but when asked they simply said, “ah yea we ran out” and that was that. Literally I’m sure everything goes into the deep fryer and just cooked in the hot oil. My expectations weren’t that high to start with (being a chain pub etc) but this was honestly lower than a snakes belly. Mains came out after just over an hour and thirty minutes wait. Again no real issue. Untill the dj started playing. Mains was the burger sizzler, sounds lovely on the menu, again don’t bother. According to the menu the steak that came with the burger was due to be prepared in a cast iron dish which was ment to sizzling with onions and peppers, nope the steak was just cold laying there in a cold pile of frozen onions and vegetables. Another person at the table had a breaded chicken sandwich - menu stated it was with red onions which is fine as she can’t eat normal white onions due to an allergy - but guess what it came out with, yep white onion. So that was a waste of time. No beef dripping sauce came out - guess they ran out and didn’t bother telling us. It was honestly so bad we left the desserts we’ve orderd and hastily retreated to the cars walking out to the thumping music the dj was playing. Lesson learnt

Steak and Chips on a Sunday evening was beautiful. Dessert was lovely too. All the family enjoyed their meals.

What you expect from a Hungry Horse, value for money with ok food and ok service. Good selection of drinks with a big restaurant and a carpark to match.

We went to use some teeco vouchers. The booth we sat in had a ripped cushion. Table was dirty. Toilet was not particularly nice. The food was very average. The service was fast though and they couldn't do enough for us. Very friendly

First time here. Me and my partner had the 12oz rump steak which was fantastic and the portion of chips were also huge. Big shout out to the staff, fantastic service and we will definitely be back soon

We had a lovely lunch here yesterday. Table of 8 and the food was amazing hot and tasty. Amy was so accommodating, very polite and made us feel welcome and that nothing was too much. Also the man serving the food went above expectations. We will be back soon.

Just had family meal here. Really recommend. Was super tasty. My kid enjoyed his pizza and drink, mum enjoyed her cheese fries. I loved my quadrilla burger. Beer was nice and cold, and wife said she liked her wine. Nice atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming.

Not very good, not as described. Ordered the jerk chicken and wings, was meant to have a rub, and marinade on it. It had neither, so was straight up just unseasoned chicken cooked in the oven. Didn’t satisfy my Caribbean taste buds in the slightest…

We have just got in after having a fabulous Christmas lunch with you. The food was delicious and the service was superb. Considering how busy you were the food was hot and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful and parcelled up our spare meal for us to bring home. Lovely occasion. Thanks very much.

Total bill was about £53 for 2 adults and 3 children. We arrived when the pub was quiet and there were plenty of tables available. The steak I ordered was tough but not the fault of the kitchen. Service was great and friendly staff.

Had a little lunch here. Food was ok, portions have shrunk at Hungry Horses in the last few years. The bar staff were great and had a good chat with the customers. which helped to uplift the experience. Will come back to try some different menu items.

Visited this place on Bank Holiday Monday. 7 in our party and all was very impressed at warm atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed our meals which were excellent. Will visit again.

Vert disappointed today. Usually food is vert good for the price and never had to complain before. But today none of our food was verr good so had to complain. Cold with lots of things missing thst should of come witj food orders as per menu

Went here for a meal with my family this evening. There were 5 of us. We booked a table online and were seated promptly when we arrived. Food arrived very quickly after ordering, all items were hot and tasted amazing! Great service, staff were all very friendly and definitely great value for money, we will definitely be back 😊

Booked for Fathers Day for a change as we had never been before and can easily say that was our first and final visit. First walking in, the floor was incredibly sticky like that of a teens nightclub. The barman, who I won’t name, who served me looked as though he didn’t want to be there and was miserable. We seemed to have been forgotten for a while after we had finished our starters and the waiter eventually came out with one meal, asking us to remind him as to what the second meal was. When both meals were out, he still didn’t remove the empty starters plates. Our two roasts were incredibly overcooked, the roast potatoes were soggy and the vegetables weren’t at all nice. When paying at the bar, we overheard a customer asking for a diet and normal coke, and asked the bartender which was which, and he had clearly forgotten. She then advised that she needed to know as her partner was diabetic. Overall a poor experience!

Tried to book a table on website but unable to , website stated to ring. I rang 4 times no answer each time. Upon arriving at the establishment, I went to the bar to ask if a table was available, the barmaid looked puzzled & said, have a look see if there is one. We found a table &went back to the bar to order our food. It arrived within reasonable time, The food was hot & well presented but the steak in my full mixed grill which I had asked to be cooked well done, had blood running out of it when I cut through it. I did not complain as we were not prepared to wait for it to be cooked again so I left the steak. The rest was ok but we would not return again not only due to the steak but also the attitude of the staff, the uncleanness of the table floor area along with sticky tables and bar.

Food is solid. Had a burger once. Very good. Service is great, staff can be busy so you might need to wait every now and then. Atmosphere is standard. You're not at the World Cup final.

Fantastic pub, really friendly staff and great food. I was very impressed with the range of food on the menu. It all came out quickly and was cooked perfectly. The pub was clean, welcoming and the staff were lovely and making sure everyone was happy with their food. It looked like it was a busy day but the tables were being cleared and wiped clean as soon as people had gone. I'll definitely be back again.

Food is tasteless and fish cooked in the same fryer as everything else. Cheap but honestly, go elsewhere. Two stars is generous because of the price ⭐️⭐️

The old red lion is such a welcoming and friendly pub, with a good atmosphere. The staff are approachable and very catering. The pub is very child-friendly and the food is always cooked to the best quality. I would highly recommend if your looking for a nice place to spend an evening😊

Visited yesterday with family and later joined by friends. The menu is very varied and all our meals arrived at the same time.The food was great and the staff were brilliant. Thank you for making it special for us to celebrate.

A very busy pub 🍻 but ... Needs more staff . Food took extremely long to come out a standard chicken sandwhich which was delicious no complaints there n the menu looks awsome ! The decor is beautiful aswell but I really feel for the team.

My family go here whenever we can. It is set next to a quiet part of Stevenage and the pub/restaurant always looks clean and comfortable. The staff are also happy to help. I feel safe there with my children compared to some other places with a similar set up to this. The only issue I have is at every time we visit at least 2 of us never gets to eat our first or sometimes second choice options as they are always out of stock of something. They always have something going on later on in the night. Admittedly I have never gone (get the kids to bed) but it does look very interesting .

Went out for dinner with my son. Had a lovely steak from the Monday deal. An issue with my sons order was resolved quickly and with good humour. Pleasant local place to eat as always :)
