It might be a bit of a tourist trap, and I’m not sure of its authenticity, plus describing it as a “museum” is a bit of a push. But there is some information dotted about describing the history of the wooden horses and most of the varieties available to purchase have a description for the colour meaning. The staff are friendly and there’s a massive range of items to buy, all rather expensive, but if you are looking to buy one then you should visit if only for the range available.

A suspicious store that prohibits you from taking (even non-flash) photographs of the products that are on sale. The staff watched my group's every movement when we were inside (very uncomfortable). Because we were in a hurry to catch our train, and we didn't know where else we could go in a short time, we did end up buying something from here. I recommend avoiding this store.

As mentioned by others here before: this is NOT a museum. It's an overpriced tourist shop. It's hot and there's too many people at a time in there. Another thing I noticed was that (I assume he was) the shop owner was extremely rude to both, customers and employees. Go to any other tourist shop and you will get the same dalahorses for less money and you will be treated better. If I could I would give this place 0 stars.

Not really a museum, even though it does have the history of the dala horse, more of a shop. Yes they are very expensive but they are all hand painted and not mass produced so makes sense. Great for gifts if you are or know a horse person.

A little gem hiding away in Stortorget, well worth the free visit (!) to learn about the history of Dala horses. Huge selection of models available to purchase too.

Honestly... it's a tourist trap. They have a lot more selection than other souvenir stores but if you're not overly particular with what design you want, go to almost any other souvenir store in Gamla Stan

I have such a love for this store and the history it provides. This store gives you a history of the Dala Horse, quality (Swedish made) products and a great experience. These aren’t the cheapest. They’re definitely authentic and beautiful. I bought from them 8 years ago, and made sure to visit and purchase again this trip. They’re worth supporting and visiting!! (They even gave me a beautiful complimentary bag with my purchase!)

I had a bad experience at The Wooden Horse Museum. As I stated previously to you, on July 3, 2023, I purchased 5 items and was charged for 7. The two items that I didn’t receive were apparently jewelry for 1700 krona. Since, you refused to arbitrate with my bank about this, I got stuck with paying the 1700 krona for jewelry I did not buy. I want to assure you that I am very busy with my work. I certainly wouldn’t waste my time writing you if I had purchased the jewelry. I don’t have time to continue writing to you, but 1700 krona is a lot of money and I do not even know what I allegedly purchased. I’m thoroughly disgusted with the way you have handled this. What 2 pieces of jewelry did I buy? I had 5 items in my bag- the four magnets and a child’s necklace. Again, what were the two pieces of jewelry that you insist that I bought? Martyanne

One of my favorite places. By far the best crafted dala horses.

It holds some traditional value, very old horse sculptures which is impressive but the "museum" looks more like a store and it's very small. Thank god its free!

They do have a small horse collection in the back. As well as new and old horses you can buy. It does not cost anything to see it.

It’s a shop where you can buy Swedish handmade Dala horses (quite expensive) and other Dala horse things (magnets,...). You can see old Dala horses in the “museum” part (it’s free).
