Great dinner at Maison Kemmerzel had the Choucrute aux trois poissons which was fire but may have led to trois trips to the toilet later. Sipping on the reisling all night long and great desserts too! Would recommend!

The food is mediocre. The attitude of the staff is unacceptable. They were remarkably rude with me and my guests. They changed our reservation to half and hour earlier and gave the table to other clients. It feels like you are in a fast food place with a high level coverage. It is a shame that they inherited a brand name that they cannot keep up with any more. Not worth it at all. A touristic trap.

This restaurant has a variety of delicious food. The view is incredible! They have traditional French food such as snails. You have a front row seat to the mesmerizing Cathedral. This restaurant is a must visit destination while visiting Place Gutenberg street 👌🏻🌿

(Translated by Google) July 2020: return to Strasbourg and back for a meal at the Kammerzell house where things have remained the same the cuisine is still as refined and generous, the welcome, the service always impeccable and professional, the waiter was enterprising by offering us a better table facing the cathedral and we thank them for that. We will be sure to return to this restaurant. December 2018: Superb place and cuisine combining correct tastes, and generosity in the dishes we spent a pleasant evening in their company the only negative point that I underline and the temperature in the room we were very hot for everything else thank you for this evening. (Translated by Google) The famous house next to the cathedral is astonishing. Built in the 15th century in the Renaissance style, it impresses with a pitched roof, half-timbered beams with profane carvings and slug panes. Formerly a merchant's house, today there is a prestigious restaurant with halls on several floors. An intimate setting with décor from another time, made of wood paneling, vaults and frescoes. It is more turbulent on the outside terrace.

One of the most beautiful houses in Strasbourg. In summer, it's a true pleasure to take a dessert on the terrace. The cathedral is just nearby.

One star for the delicious Reisling wine we had... Overall a disappointment from beginning to end. Let me explain, first we arrived and stood for 10mins without being attented on the first floor, not even a "hello" when several waiters passed by us. Finally someone decided to attend, great table next to the cathedral (hallelujah). My cutlery had fingerprints on the fork and knife but not where you hold it, literally on the sharp side. I cleaned it myself but I sent the glasses to have clean one without watermarks. This is the least such establishment should have, clean glasses and clean cutlery. Then we ordered our starters, butternut and châtaigne soup + onion tart. Absolutely tasteless! The tart was frozen, bacon and onion no taste... Even Picard do it better! Then comes the main... what a mistake, we chose the "famous" 3 fish choucroute and the fricasse de Coq. The waiter came at me explaining how to eat the fish (making a mistake in his speech that I should eat it from bottom to top...really?) So top to bottom he explained me that there are 3 fish, salmon, bar etc... After 3 bites I thought something was "fishy" in fact they served me one and a half fish.... The third one was non existant, they made sure that the salmon (top fish) covered all the plate to hide the misery of this dish. This is another level I have never seen before. Regarding the taste? NONE! The fricasse de Coq same, just cooked in boiled water and nothing else. We both left our plate half full , when the waiter came to us asking "how is everything?" Did not even waited for us to respond took our plate and vanished... After that they are asking us for dessert, we asked for the bill. Again big mistake in the final check. I had to go myself to talk to the waiter and explained him that this bill was not for what we ate. He made the changes, we paid and left. Not a pleasant experience for such a lovely place, huge blame on management! This place is run by morons who do not care because they know perfectly that this establishment is a money making machine.... We tried once and never again!!! I'm 100% sure you can find tasty food for the same price or less in Strasbourg. If you care about quality food please AVOID.

Just left dinner there - rude waitress with a mask on her chin, slow service especially given the short menu, average food - a good-highway-restaurant level, and broken chair at the table. Overall, overpriced is an understatement. Typical tourist trap for which we, unfortunately, fell. Will never repeat.

If you want to eat in the heart of the center and near the cathedral, this is the place to go. You'll spend more money than usual for mediocre wine and tough steak and basically, mass produced food. The green salad was good. No one ever asked how our meal was and when I told the waiter how tough the steak was, he just walked away.

First unpleasant dining experience in france after a week. Location is excellent and building is amazing but staff are rushed and food is average. They stay very busy due to location alone. Prices a little higher than average as well. I would go elsewhere there are a ton of great places around.

The best location facing the Cathedral. It is hard to find a table so I suggest you book one in good time as the place is always packed. The prices are reasonable for such a fine restaurant and the taste is very good. We did not have a booking but the staff were so kind and helpful, we waited for 15 minutes and we they gave us a table right in front of the square where you can see everything.

About the restaurant: Really didn't like it and would not recommend. Maybe it was the time I went (about 19:30 on a Monday) and the fact that I don't like the Typical food from Strasbourg. The service was extremely slow, and the restaurant wasn't even full. We had to wait a lot for anything we wanted, from the dishes to water and the bill. The food was not good, at all. But there is also the fact that I didnt like Choucroute or other typical stuff, so maybe it's as good in this restaurant as anywhere else. It is also super expensive for the overall quality of the place. The desserts were ok though, the only good part of the menu, I would say.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND (read on for story): Was recommended by a local friend to dine here while vacationing from the USA. Once our reservation was confirmed we were directed what room to walk into but no additional information. I then asked a server where to sit and they just pointed at a group of tables, nothing specific or any direction on what table was ours.. We all ordered our first round of drinks and some appetizers to start and everything came out on time and the appetizers were extremely delicious (the only positive of the dinner). While waiting for our entrees, they never cleared off the table from plates, and this caused a scene when the waiter was bringing our food later on, as he threw the plates on another table and was audibly angry, which was embarrassing to be sitting at the table during this. When we FINALLY got our food it was cold, probably because they brought out multiple tables of food at the same time and ours sat out for over 10 minutes. 3 tenderloins were cold on the inside, and the fries were ice cold. They took back the 3 plates, and re-cooked fries, but the steaks came BACK to us just slightly warmer (possibly just from a heat lamp). Our second round of drinks ordered never came. We opted to not even try the desserts or any other items because the experience was very poor. Not recommended to tourists. There are many more delicious restaurants in the area and pricing is not equal to the quality of food.

When we got there the floor we got seated on was empty. Somehow they could not seat us near a window, or anywhere except the middle of the room. Then not a single server of 6 on the floor "happened" to speak English or German (in Alsace)... And again, somehow our wine order took 36 minutes (and reminding them), and food over an hour and a half (three tables that came after us had eaten and were getting ready to leave). Food was good, solid 4-4.5 stars.

The restaurant serves traditional Alsacien food - choucroute aux trois poissons Amazing experience to try this dish, better quality you wouldn’t find. So delicious as well as desserts. And plus the location of the resta is next to the Cathedral, the view is so beautiful. Highly recommended if you are looking for a great touristic place with good service and great traditional food

Historical restaurant with a small dining area and requires advance reservation or a bit of luck during the winter period. Pleasant ambiance and unique character to the whole place. You're sitting right in the shadow of the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral. It was quite entertaining to see people peeking through the glass windows from the outside. The portion sizes were definitely larger than your average French dining experience. However, the service was the poor, slow, inattentive, burdensome, and sub-par for such a reputable restaurant.

The head waiter asks us if we have reserved, because at this time only reservations can claim a table. I did not reserve and I retry saying that there are only three of us and that even a small table would suit us. And there in all his splendor, the chef de rang replied: "But sir, the kitchens are closing I can no longer accept you" And this is how to take a customer for himself that he is not! (Translated by Google) A sixth star, is it not possible? I had wanted to dine there for a while, and the wait was worth it. I heard a lot of good things, I wanted to get my idea, and… I am one of those who will tell you that it is excellent and that their reputation is fully deserved. As a starter "Shrimps marinated in citrus fruits and condiments", the pair of shrimps and citrus fruits is delicious, the seasoning is light and allows the shrimps to reveal all their flavors. Regarding the meal, it was unthinkable to miss the famous "Sauerkraut with three Fish", emblematic dish of the house, and for good reason, it is EXCELLENT. A great first for me to taste a sauerkraut with a white butter sauce, but the cabbage goes perfectly with the sauce, and the fish are delicious. "The Cod with Saffron Cream" is also very good, and quite honestly, the decoration makes you want to eat. To finish on a sweet note, we started with the "Crispy Pecan Nut, Panacotta with Earl-Gray Tea" as well as the famous "Kammerzel with two Chocolates". The presentation is really beautiful, the flavors are present. It's a big yes! To conclude, the whole meal was only sweetness, discovery, and a lot of happiness in the mouth.

To be honest, I have no idea about the hotel, but let me tell you about the restaurant. I don't usually order fish in restaurants, but here I'm happy I did. The cod was simply perfect and the pillow of rice proved me that rice goes just fine with cod. I loved it and I recommend it a lot. Prices are pretty high and you will have to wait for your order, but while you wait you can enjoy your glass of white wine sitting near the Notre Dame de Strasbourg and oh my god you will enjoy your food as well.

(Translated by Google) Aie aie aie ... Is it the summer tourist influx that makes the waiters so unfriendly. It's harder to get a thank you out of a server than to figure out how to justify such value for money. Seriously the fries from my local kebab are way better than the ones served. In a place designated as an institution in Strasbourg, I was greatly disappointed, I left feeling that I had paid for the setting and not for the quality of the dishes (which is quite problematic for a restaurant). I cannot say that the food was not good, it would be bad faith, but you should not expect anything incredible far from it. In short, if you want to eat a good sauerkraut, I advise against it, well for any dish I do not recommend. Your meal will be ruined by that bitter feeling of not getting your money's worth, of getting bloated. Go your way and look for a real Alsatian restaurant (there are plenty of others not to worry about?), and avoid this tourist trap which is based on its name, its setting and its history in order to give the illusion that it is is the most important allegory of Alsatian cuisine. (Original) Aie aie aie...

(Translated by Google) I had booked and was happy with this dinner. Certainly you saw on the cathedral but my sauerkraut with fish was bland and bathed in an indefinable sauce, that of 8 meats of my husband was served with very dry meats and a lukewarm cabbage and to finish my son's tartare arrived all done and 'we made in front of us and the fries were cold and as bad as at Mac Do or at least the fries are frozen but hot. We did not take a desert because by seeing the faces of those at the next table we understood. Lives on a location and not on its edible limit food. To avoid. Quick service and a pleasant waiter. The only positive point. Finally we saw at noon today that for a sauerkraut with 3 fish at 25.9 euros per second was offered. As a crossroads but for a restaurant it's almost funny. Look at the building and have lunch somewhere else. (Translated by Google) Reservation in the evening on the terrace. The reception is quite cold and this will be verified throughout the meal. The sauerkraut is good although the meats have little taste. Cabbage, on the other hand, is excellent. The waiter who takes care of us shows little interest, no smile, he opens the bottles, puts down the plates but that's it. At the end one of his colleagues comes to collect us. With a dry gesture he places my credit card on the table while looking elsewhere. Excellent experience in a charming and historical building (one of the most ancient buildings still in use in Strasbourg), professional service by cheerful staff (go and have a look at their legendary guestbook including the Pope, Macron, Reagan, Robert Downey Jr, Madonna etc.). for a jaw-droppingly reasonable price (the signature dish choucroute with 3 fishes only for 25 euros, and at this moment there is this special offer: pay one, the second for free), this place is my biggest discovery in Strasbourg. Regarding the food: Signaturee dish is Choucroute with 3 fishes, totally up to its reputation. Choucroute was mild, sauce was generous, the combination of 3 fishes (smoked haddock, halibut, salmon), with their different taste and texture, created multiple layers of flavour, it changed my opinion of choucroute. Dessert: strongly recommend the chocolate cake with bergamot jelly and chestnut ice cream. chocolate cake that melts in the mouth topped by foamy chestnut cream, bergamot jelly, raspberry and fig provide a perfect balance between acidity and sweetness.

Super nice location in the centre next to the Cathedral, the service was really friendly and attentive and the food was excellent! The wine selection was brilliant and my dessert was to die for. Absolutely amazing! The only comments I would like to make that are mildly "negative", are firstly that the toilets could be a lot nicer and cleaner. And secondly it is just a tad bit too tourism-y for my taste. But I guess it's good for you guys ;)

The restaurant is truly bad... The quality of products is bad - the sausage seemed like the cheapest they could find in a supermarket, and the choucroutte was completely flavourless. On top of that, the restaurant had such a pretentious attitude, and nothing to show for that. Do not waste your time in this city coming here!

Ummmm...the food is OK. The furniture and the atmosphere here are really amazing! We went here during Christmas. So we waited for around 30 minutes. They are very considerable that they provided a space to let you sit down and wait. Another thing I'd like to say is that...I spent almost all night here...for a dinner. I waited 20 minutes for menu. After finishing all the food, I almost waited 40 minutes for my bill. I'm not sure if it is normal in French or its because I came here in a busy season. But, as a tourist...I think I spent too much time in a dinner.

How can a place in such a fantastic location, with good wines and good food, be only two stars? It's not exactly the service, which is friendly enough, it's the management. One of the oldest houses (and the most beautiful) in Strasbourg. It was turned into an up-scale restaurant with a very enjoyable outdoor siiting area, right in front of the cathedral. The time we spent at the restaurant was so good. You can watch the sun setting on the cathedral's façade while sipping your drink and watching the life goes by. Wonderful. No wonder the prices tend to be expensive a little bit. But hey, you are sitting in a historical ambience and in a posh restaurant!

Such a disappointment. The appetizer was good, and the bread is good everywhere in Strasbourg. However the main dishes were terrible. The much trumpeted 3-fish choucroute was tasteless (both the fish and the cabbage). The hanger steak (faux-filet) was chewy and the French fries - gasp!!! - stale. How can this happen? This restaurant needs to step back up to salvage its reputation.

Visited with 2 older children. Front of house were not friendly and after a short wait told me there were no available tables outside (despite many tables being unoccupied at that point in the evening and later in the evening when we passed en route back to our holiday accommodation). Staff offered us a table inside. We had already been warned by locals not to accept this as there is poor service inside which is not compensated by a view of the cathedral so we thanked staff, declined and left to choose another restaurant for dinner. I think that the building is so pretty you probably have a better view of it and the cathedral from another establishment anyway.

The best choucroute (sauerkraut) in Strasbourg. Excellent service! It's in a touristy location right around the corner from the main Strasbourg Cathedral. But this place is genuine and serves excellent local food in an upscale setting.

Beautiful architecture...but that is about the main highlight. Other than the wonderful man as host...I must really say, despite all the great reviews...I was really disappointed. The menu was unappealing, kind of like a retirement home selection. The steak was I must admit, cooked perfectly, but lacked taste! The polenta was pureed and also bland. Such a pity!

Service and the atmosphere were wonderful at this magical time of year 🎄 Even though they were absolutely slammed, serving 400 people across the many floors of this incredible piece of architecture, the waiters and servers were so sweet with a great sense of humor. The only problem with serving so many people at once is the quality of the food. The desserts were good. But the main dish suffered - tasty but dried out. The flavors were there, but the moisture of the sauce had been lost.

Classical restaurant, great tradition, great food. Lots of celebrities visited this restaurant in its long history. The choucroute was phenomenal. Drinks were a little more expensive than expected. Would eat here again

Beautiful traditional interior and exterior. The 3 fish Sauerkraut is a must have. Invented in 1970 it has delighted generations of locals as well as famous people (whose pictures decorated the walls of the staircase). Also a nice selection of white wines from the Alsace and beautiful deserts 😋.

"I had an incredible dining experience at Maison Kammerzell! The restaurant is housed in a stunning historic building with beautiful architecture and decor. The service was impeccable, with our server providing attentive and friendly service throughout our meal. And the food was simply outstanding. Every dish we tried was expertly prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the presentation was beautiful. The restaurant also has an impressive wine list to complement the meal. The atmosphere was elegant and refined, making it a perfect spot for a special occasion or romantic dinner. I highly recommend Maison Kammerzell to anyone visiting Strasbourg and looking for an unforgettable dining experience!"

Food was good - choco lava cake was delish! We had pleasant service although as we visited in large group it took some time throughout the courses. Really loved the building and its well preserved interior.

Our food was outstanding. The wine was divine. Dessert tasted like more from the first spoonful. Our waitress allowed us to leisurely enjoy our meal. A must eat there again experience.

We wanted to sit at the Restaurant-Bar to drink something and we asked if there was a seat available. They very rudely answered no drinks and turned their back on us. We stayed there because we wanted to ask then if we could seat for eating but they just kept ignoring us untill we left.

What a great place! A bit touristy but man you are Seating right in front of the cathedral of Strassbourg! Food was absolutely out of this world. First time I tried salmon choux croûte! It was absolutely delicious! I really recommand! Other than that service was quick and efficient and besides being pricy compared to other places we ate at it was one of the best.

This historic and architectural beauty of a building is officially my favorite Alsatian restaurant. The food is delicious and authentic. The service is excellent! We first dined upstairs and enjoyed a special lunch with family. My partner is from the area. Our waiter, Monsier Karim, was charming, knowledgeable, and extremely funny. We started with the Escargot, followed by Foie Gras. Our main courses were Choucroute Traditional, Filet de Sandre façon, and the chef’s special of Veal with vegetables and Potatoes Dauphinois. We loved every bite! The grand finale was the tarte aux fruits de saison, quetsches (french plum) with vanilla ice cream. The parents ordered the chef’s special apple strudel. We paired our meal with a bottle of Alsatian riesling recommended by our waiter. It was a lovely experience. My partner and I returned the next week and sat outside on the patio. The food was equally as delicious. The atmosphere is much more lively outside. We enjoyed the escargot and foie gras again, but shared the chef’s fish special, Lotte. Ooh…did I mention the location is next door to the Cathedral? You can hear the church bells and catch a view of the breathtaking 11 c. - 15 c. architecture. Note: Reservations are required for upstairs dining. The patio is first come, first serve.
