Barnes park is a lovely park. Free parking. Sometimes the ice cream van is there and there is a cafe there although I've never been in there so I don't know anything about pricing or quality of drinks or food. A couple of parks catering to all ages lots of wild small animals can be seen if you have a walk around and there is also a pond there with a few ducks. The park is also great for dog walking or letting your little ones ride around on their bikes.

Nice clean park for a walk with the dog or kids especially in the autumn as it's full of colour. Free parking for about fifty cars. Play area's for the kid's. Park benches dotted around the park if you just want to sit out in the fresh air watching the world go by. Will definitely return to explore more of the park when time allows. Highly recommended venue.

Beautiful park, and we didn't get to see everything as we didn't have long. Free parking, play areas suitable for younger and older kids, loads of dens in the surrounding trees and the pathing was perfect for scooters, bikes and skateboards. If you had the weather it'd be ideal for a picnic or there's a cafΓ© at the main entrance if you can't be bothered.

Trees of the highest quality that seem to get bigger every year. One gave me directions to the little coffee shop the other day, very polite will return again.

Excellent park for kids and adults alike. Great variety of play equipment for the kids, a shop for drinks and snacks, toilets, a field for football and lovely walks through the park. Obviously you get some "LOVELY" kids there but don't let that spoil the experience. My daughter spent 5 hours there recently and would have stayed longer had I let her.

It's a huge park. It was a family fun day. Loads to do. Loads of people and families there. Loved all the music in the bandstand. Seems a beautiful park. I'd like to go and explore it when I have the time. It was a great family fun day. Loads for the children to do and experience. Top marks for Sunderland Council or whoever made this happen.

I have to say that Barnse Park has come aa long way since I was a child from the early 70,s to early 80,s Back in then, there was no rabbits squirrels. Wild lifeike that. However, unbelievable the other day I saw a big terrapin in the pond. I wish I could of taking a photo, but was too quick. A lot of work has been done to it and over the year's the park matured. Definitely a lovely place to take yourkids and walk the dog!

Been going here for years, great place to take the kids and one of the few parks where everyone seems to be polite and respectful of each other, two play areas for the kids, one for younger kids and one for the older ones, lovely cafe area too! There's a bowls green, tennis courts, fountains and sensory garden! Loads of wildlife from Squirrels to Herons and rabbits! Beautiful in the summer but also very colour in Autumn and even more picturesque in winter.

Well kept park with lots to offer. Parking on site. Lots of different routes to choose for your walk. 2 childrens play parks for different ages. Duck pond and bandstand with amphitheatre ( usually has something on at week ends. Not sure during covid) . Charity run cafe ( again closed at the moment). Basketball court. Lots if park benches and plenty of room for picnics. Toilets available.

Nice park, a nice place to walk around and it has a small carpark. The only negative is that youths tend to congregate in large groups within the park.

Even in Autumn the Park is an ideal place for a quiet stroll. Most of the flower beds are still in colour, others being prepared for winter and next spring. Enjoy the surroundings whilst taking your dog for a walk and remember, on a lead and clean up after your dog.

  • 4/5 Dianne P. 3 years ago on Google
Its a lovely park with some brilliant wildlife (rabbits, squirrels, heron, chaffinch and wren to name a few). Has lovely picnic spots, great for an hours family time. Only thing that let's it down is the number of rats who are just not afraid of people AT ALL. I wouldn't let my little one play in the sand pit or sit in the grass.

  • 5/5 Anna M. 3 years ago on Google
Great play areas, suited for different ages and abilities, right by the car park. Accessible toilets. Beautiful range of trees. You can follow the path for a walk or deviate off for a bit of exploring as children like to do. Bit muddy in places but I expect that on an autumn day. Spacious and refreshing!

Barnes park is a lovely place for a stroll. It's well landscaped, has footpaths, a moderate-sized car park, toilets and a cafe. The duckpond tends to be a hit with youngsters.

A great place for a walk or a jog or for a day out. For a picnic or bike ride. A great place for feeding the local wildlife. A awesome place to walk the dogs.

The park of my childhood. So many fond memories of this park - I think I explored every inch of it as a child. Went for a walk with a friend who had never visited before. Whilst many of the areas I remembered so vividly have changed most of this is for the better.

Barnes Park is not far away from where we live , it's a place for everyone any age, we often spend time with our family grandchildren our dog Ben ,a happy time building memories taking photos throwing our dog his ball, the leaves fall on your head through the autumn of wellies full of mud, then the snow melting on your shoulders looking up falling on your face, spring is around the bulbs popping through, the nights are slowly getting lighter wow summer it's a few months away πŸ˜€ x

  • 5/5 colleen t. 1 year ago on Google
I live near the park and it's so well set out. The beautiful tranquil setting of the trees and general parkland, the bandstand tucked away from view. The bowling green, the bridge over to the duck pond and then onto the children's area with the field up top on one side and the winding garden area and tennis courts on the other side. Iv used this park for 40 years and still love it. It could do with more carparking, maybe at the Barnes view/Barnes Road end.

  • 5/5 Paul K. 1 year ago on Google
Two excellent playgrounds, one for younger children, one for older. There is a cafe there, plenty of space for sports games and an outdoor gym. Has a nice pond and plenty of walking to be had.

  • 5/5 Stephanie J. 1 year ago on Google
My favourite park. Lovely to walk the dogs or take the pram. There are some steap inclines but these can be avoided if you stay around the pond and play areas.

  • 5/5 lee s. 1 year ago on Google
I used to work there with a full dedicated staff of around 20. Nowadays the staff is about 3 who are also expected to care for other parks and facilities among their duties! There's no security as there was once and the gates are no longer locked at night! I love the place, but hate the way it's going!!!
