Completed in 1989, Oscar Wind Park is located along State Road 84 and Interstate 75. When it opened it was the first park near Weston and Bonaventure, paid for with city money, The park was named in honor of Oscar Wind, the developer who donated the land in 1983 when the city annexed the area. In 1993, six more acres were added to the park as was a new softball field, a soccer/football field and a new park shelter. Today the park is looking better than ever. A new playground and outdoor fitness court were unveiled last month which increased the fitness and play options in the City of Sunrise. The new playground is ADA accessible with a wheelchair entry. It now has more than a dozen play structures including slides, swings, climbers, and a merry go round. Elements were added to foster learning, inspire music, and provide tactile games. The playground is covered in shade canopies and new seating and landscaping were added. Also brand new at Oscar Wind Park is the first Fitness Court in the city and it is also shade covered like the playground. The Fitness Court has an app on the side that teaches you how to use it. You do a circuit of exercises using your own body weight in order to condition and strengthen during work outs. It can be modified for all fitness levels. Additional park features included an open green space with a new 1/2 mile walking path, new landscaping, renovations to the restroom and picnic pavilion, and new LED lighting. My favorite improvement is that there is now a connecting walkway between Oscar Wind Park and Sawgrass Sanctuary Park. I like that you can do a really long walking circuit around both parks and never have to go into the road. The two parks blend together seamlessly. With the new additions to Oscar Wind Park, I think this is the best place in the city to enjoy nature, take the kids to play, and exercise.

I visited the park today and is very very child oriented but not adolescent oriented. Where is the basket ball court that was announce outside the park with pictures during the construction period? Teenagers looks for sports not only soccer and baseball. Right now that I tried to locate the basketball court and did not see it I am very disappointed. Besides, the “fitness court” is very complicated. I only see mothers sitting around with their kids fooling around the “fitness court”. I was truly looking forward the opportunity to see teenagers playing basketball near home. None of the parks around Riverbend or other communities near Oscar Park have basketball courts. Teenager only can play basketball at school.

If you look you will see nature all around @ Oscar Wind park and Sawgrass Sanctuary. The expansion of the park has begun, but it's still a nice place to run, walk and be.

Has such a cool playground for kids and even adults! Lots of interactive features, including an electric guitar (featured in the video). Will definitely be back to this playground.

The playground is excellent, but the swings and other amenities that are not under any type of shade get very hot when the sun is out. My kids didn’t play with those.

Great playground with shade and properly cushioned floor. Restrooms are clean, and there is plenty of seating around the park.

Small and quiet park. Not very crowded on a Saturday morning. What stood out the most to me was the cleanliness of the grounds and the bathrooms were spotless. You can tell the staff take their job seriously and care for the park.

I came here feeling glum, my solitude entrenched and the loneliness of my bachelordom deep and pitted as the high cirrus clouds overhead. I came here because I wanted to explore something new, because I was unwilling and too cheap to pay the $1.50 for the major facility nearby for the base privilege of being sad and reading a book outdoors (such things, I am convinced and principled, should always be and remain free), because being down and not at least trying to wash away the cloak is sadder than the feeling itself. & so, I came here. …And I am eternally glad I did. Listening to Hank Williams Jr.’s rendition of “Cowpoke,” reading a book about the Indians of the plains held out at arm’s length, I saw clear waters that matched the clarity I felt when I finally left the park a couple hours later. Perch, sac a lait, various native reptiles, a few ducks, and a monster of a soft shell turtle made for good company as I paced the well paved-over waking trail around the ponds, and the sunset was a painting as magnificent a sight as anything Creation ever did. Truth be told, nothing had changed in my life during those one-hundred and twenty minutes: I was still alone, still lacking in companionship and love, want of money, but as the food in my stomach digested, and my mind likewise processed my environment, even though everything in my life was just as it was before I randomly found this oasis, everything had also simultaneously, profoundly, changed. Things were good. Life was joyous, and although dressed in a mellow mood, my spirits flew in the breeze, swaying just as the palmetto fans did. Yes, this park can be good and fortifying for the heart, and sometimes all one needs to change a sinking soul is a little patch of green space to remind you that yes, everything is gonna be alright. And even if it isn’t, that that’s okay too.

Cool park! Been hanging around this place for about a little over a decade now. Renovation recently started a few months ago and I’m hoping that some basketball courts will pop up when renovation is finished!!!
