How does this hotel retain a four-star rating? The room was clean enough, but in a four-star hotel I would expect in the room a fridge, a telephone, maybe a bedside clock. There wasn't even a chair! Nothing. Some stationery would be nice, a notepad and pen (as we recently had in a 4-star in the Midlands) but an essential would be a folder of information - how to adjust the heating/air con, how to activate the tv, how to contact reception, menus, restaurant and bar opening times, local transport and attractions... you know the sort of thing. Nada. Bathroom water was very warm, not hot enough. Service in the bar was so slow that despite there being only one other table occupied a friend who had come to greet us left before a cup of coffee could be produced. The breakfast buffet was pathetic. The cold meats and cheeses selection consisted of a couple of slices of pale ham and two slivers of unexciting cheese. It was bad when we walked in and was downhill from there. Don't waste your money. If this is 'the best hotel in Swansea' I feel sorry for Swansea.

Chose this hotel as our usual Premier Inn hotel was fully booked. We arrived in a quite posh foyer and a friendly desk clerk took our reservation and payment. Then the fun began with the lift, which was no bigger than a wardrobe would not allow two people to travel with cases due to it being overloaded. Once we got upstairs you could see how dated the hallway was with dirty looking doors and inaccurate people sensing lights. The room was large, but dated. Window looked out across the roof but hadn’t been cleaned in awhile, dirty old net curtains covered it and we kept the large curtains closed for our stay. TV had problems with several not connecting to the channels. Carpet had weird stains on it and footprints on the wall which hadn’t been removed. Shower was hot. Noises could be heard throughout the night due to the walls being thin. Breakfast consisted of a hot buffet but my wife wasn’t particularly impressed with the offerings and the word ‘cheap’ popped up with the sausages and beans being a hot topic. For the price we paid we expected four star. The bar downstairs was nice and friendly but we decided to just have a drink and move on somewhere else. Overall if your just staying a night or two it’s ok, it’s not four star. It’s tired and is in need of a major refurbishment. We will stick to Premier Inn.

Location amazing! Central and close to everything can’t complain, staff friendly and happy to help. Although our room wasn’t the cleanest. Carpet was so stained it needs to be replaced and the shower bar was pretty much rust. It needs a bit of every cleaning and replacing items as they can appear unhygienic to guests. Bed was super comfy big spacious rooms lots of mirrors! I felt for the quality of the rooms and the hygiene needs to be worked on as the price doesn’t match the quality in the cleaning. But with abit of TLC this hotel could be amazing a shame to say I wouldn’t return purely for hygiene reasons.

Nice hotel and my room was big. The issue we had was there was no hot water or heating for the whole stay. Not cool when you want to have a shower but can't.

Ideally placed for the town centre with its own parking area. Bedrooms are clean and tidy but in need of a lick of paint. Shower worked adequately and had plenty of hot water. Bed was very comfortable with clean linen. I have only one complaint and that was that the lifts were rubbish and didn't take more than one person at a time. Other than that I would visit again.

No evening food available. Breakfast is basic. Best thing was the comfortable bed. This is the worst space we've stayed on this tour! Parking is ÂŁ9 a night, if you can find a space. Never again.

Great from the outside, pre historic from the inside.. I made a reservation over 2 months in advance & my number one priority was to get my bike in my room. I was pretty much guaranteed over the phone to be bale to do that on arrival with no issues whatsoever. on the check in I was outright refused, the receptionist spoke to the manage who was on the other side of the door and he did not even bother to come forward and politely decline instead ignored my and outright said no to the receptionist before she even finished her sentence. I was given a board room to place my bike in which I was not comfortable with as my bike being worth over 7k.. not booking again at all here and do not take anything they promise you over the phone as a guarantee that they will stick to their promise. they need to upgrade their principles and rules aswell the the entire place. never again

Avoid this hotel like plague, its all cons for this hotel, there was nothing good about it other than location being central. Also for ÂŁ72 go elsewhere - Pay for parking even though on site says inc - Ripped up carpets - Two single beds together instead of a double - Ripped chair - Room belonged to the 20th century - Lifts are out of date and small

On the plus side: Great location, nice service, awesome shower. Comfy night sleep Could do better: tired carpets and some fixtures and fittings, felt like stepping back in time, not entirely in a bad way if that's what they are aiming for!

Rooms need updating. The corridor smelt badly of smoke. Only 1 small lift working. Car parking on site with no fee. And located right in the centre of the city.

What a wonderful welcome. The staff here are so very friendly and welcoming. The room we had was a little dated but clean and functional hence keeping this 5 star review. The position in Swansea Centre is brilliant. You are literally 5 minutes from the main centre. We really enjoyed our stay and would use this hotel again. On top of all that great value too!

Service was terrible.staff weren't helpful at all. Heating wasn't working in the room they gave us a electric heater as a solution. It is also being used to house immigrants by the government who like to smoke in the hotel rooms setting off the fire alarms

Really good hotel in the city centre of Swansea. Great grateful walking and going to local bars clubs and shopping. The rooms are spacious comfortable beds but decor is a little bit dated and the service was absolutely fantastic and super friendly

Pros: Nice location, everything nearby including shops and restaurants. 15 mnts walking to the beach. Great staffs, welcoming receptionists and superb housekeepers. Cons: Tiny room, weird smell in the towels, smallest lift I've ever seen in my life and room rent is higher

Spacious rooms l, good bathroom in room, nice sofa but alot of marks on carpets, small damage to lots of furniture etc. If your travelling for work then fine but if having a shirt trip away I'd want better for the cost

Building needs a refurb and decoration needs upgrading. Breakfast was of very average quality. As a disabled person I was very worried that one of the 2 lifts were out of order. The staff however were courteous and helpful.

The rooms were very clean, staff were very attentive and friendly, and the location is great. Everything is within walking distance. Bad bits Quite a big hotel with 2 tiny elevators that can't fit more than 4 people, 1 was out of order, which meant the constant waiting for the lift was annoying and time-consuming. Secondly, the parking is absolutely attrocious, barely 50 car parking for such a big hotel. I found myself driving for a while to find parking on local roads because the car park was full, and most of the roads were permit holders only. Lastly, there are no sockets on either side of the bed...maybe thats just me nitpicking Nevertheless, I understand it's an old building, putting in new lifts isn't feasable, and usually, both lifts would be working. My 3 stars are purely only because of parking and the lifts. Aside from that, everything else was great.

Room was okay. Double bed was 2 single beds joined. The shower pressure was really weak and took around 10 minutes to warm the water. The room was clean, outdated, the carpets weren't joined to the ground. Service was good but probably wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel staff absolutely lovely but the hotel needs some maintenance and some upgrades. Getting the toilet to flush was an absolute workout and some of my friends had some major issues with the heating. For the beakfast they only had one machine operating for the hot drinks and even that one wasnt working properly. Its a big hotel in the middle of the city center but it needs some TLC

For a four star hotel I was disappointed. We normally stay in a different hotel but this was the only one with availability for that night. Good points. Location is perfect, lobby looks lovely, the staff on reception are amazingly friendly, the shower was good and powerful and the bed was really comfortable. Bad points. The rooms, although a good size, are dated, they look dirty and are in need of a full refurbishment, including carpets which are stained and dirty, the bathroom is the same-in need of a complete refurb. The food is awful. We ate in the bar area in the evening the half roast chicken was dry and overcooked but the sides were cold and soggy, the fish sandwich was like it had freezer burn and was extremely dry and unappetising. The breakfast was also not great, cheap food and the eggs were rock hard and looked like they'd been sat there ages even though we were at breakfast for the time it opened, the service in the bar was so slow even though it wasn't busy. For the price you pay it's not worth it.

Stayed here a few times in the past. The Hotel is showing signs of age now. The two ladies on reception were exceptionally polite and welcoming and are a credit to the Hotel. The room was a good size and nice and bright but the view was of the back of the front facade signage. ( front second floor room). Its a shame that the pool has never reopened as we may of stayed another day. The Hotel is in a superb location , and with some money spent cladding the exterior and upgrading rooms , would be a great Hotel in a prime position. We were lucky enough to get the Hotel cheap so were happy with the stay.

Rooms are okay. The double room I occupied did have a phone and so it was very difficult to contact reception for services. I wanted to order breakfasts in the morning of my wedding but none of our rooms had phones. The lift is tiny, if you are claustrophobic, the lift would probably trigger you. Located is perfect. It's in the middle of the city and very close to Swansea city centre

Just got back from a stay there with a large group of my golfing friends and have to say I was very disappointed overall. On the plus side it was very quiet so no problem with parking and the staff I met were very polite and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy. On the negative side I would say they are very short staffed and the hotel in general looks very tired. The lift was broken, the pool was closed, the bar was a joke! no beer no cider and nothing in fridge to choose from either as it had broke. Coffee machine at breakfast had broke, toaster machine stopped working . There were other small things to. We’ve stayed here a couple of times before and been completely satisfied but now when we return in a couple of years time I’ve a feeling we will be looking elsewhere. Shame as in a prime position with a lot to offer.

The decor has deteriorated over the last few years, no available parking, has chargers but non EV’s use them, the bar wouldn’t serve me at 9.55pm even though the bar closes at 10pm. I would’ve quite happily gone to my room. I’m a bit dissatisfied. Oh, the gyms also closed 🙁

Rooms are basic, booked thinking we could use pool but was temporarily closed which we weren't told about. No info in rooms about food or WiFi etc, staff was okay but unhelpful about bar opening times. Ordered extra pillows which came 4 hours later. All in all okay for the price

Big gap between the pictures and What the bedroom looks like. You can hear all kind of things you don't want to hear in other bedrooms (as if you were With them). Breakfast was good and staff is competent but sooo slow. Bedroom was clean.

Great location. Adequate buffet breakfast served by attentive friendly staff. Hotel looking very tired since our visit four years ago.booking system appears to be broken as takes about an hour to book in. No evening restaurant. my bed very lumpy. Rooms have no phone or hairdryer, large TVs and tea and coffee facilities in rooms. Local knowledge by staff not great. Unfortunately doubt I would stay again.
