My mother has just been discharged from Calvary I would like to say the nurses were great and very caring, but as for the Drs & the management no duty of care was done. She was discharged without a phone call to us, her family, she needs home care which was not followed up. They sent a nearly 96yo home to fend for herself! After repeated phone calls of asking for what was required for home help they did nothing! I have called & left messages for a call from her DR, called several times to ask for their help with a referral for the home help to resume, but once discharged they do not talk to you again. This hospital needs to be investigated for lack of duty of care, it is disgraceful to push a DVA patient out before follow up was organised. Shame on you all, especially the very rude man on the front desk who was so rude when I ask where to find my mother to take her home, he said how would I know!! Charming! Great religious hospital!

I found my experience with Mary Potter Dementia Care Unit distressing and very disappointing. At the time, my mother had moderate dementia and we were advised to join this group. They were not able to handle my mother's mood swings & felt that she would be better if medicated. You have to wonder what these people do, if they cannot deal with aspects of dementia. Senior staff were arrogant and spent more time gossiping about patients. Sadly, there were underlying tones of racism at the Centre but I chose to ignore it. Happy to report that I've withdrawn my mother from this mob, and she is doing extremely well with another service. No extra medication needed! I would expect much more from 'professionals' (especially from senior levels of management). Do not send your loved one here. There are much better services available in the area. Your loved one deserves the best quality care, regardless of mood swings or background. Shameful!

Unfortunately, my father went there for palliative care for few days until his last moment. He was treated with respect and care well for pain management and sleep problem. Thank you for the doctors and nurses who look after him. Nurses that I met there are very nice and show their sympathy and understanding, especially during the COVID lockdown were extremely tough for our family. Thank you again for the care and sympathy that you have done for our family during our hard time.

A wonderful place whose staff could not have done anymore for my stepdad. The genuine care of the rehab staff and nurses was second to none in the 3 weeks he spent there. I was more than happy to provide written and verbal feedback to the executives of the hospital. The social worker there could not have done more to help me through a very difficult and often complicated time. Thank you to you all.

My Dad is currenly in Calvary for Rehab with a broken hip. (his 2nd in 14 months). The level of care provided by the staff has been phenomenal. Dad constantly comments on how good the food and told me that he feels like he's having a holiday. Thank you Calvary

Upstairs staff great pity about the rudeness you receive from some at reception when you walk through the door we may not be sick but the stress that family experience does not need to be exacerbated by calvary ground floor staff.

I spent a lot of time here with both my grandparents. They’re treated like Royalty like all patients. Super friendly and doting staff. Offering showers and gym (physio) in the mornings. Always someone around to help. Volunteers are so special and lovely too. They offer to feed the patients and talk with them, light massage.

OK FOR PALLIATIVE CARE, BUT BE WARY OF SOCIAL WORKERS ESPECIALLY TRAINEE GERIATRICIANS FROM CALVARY HEALTH CARE KOGARAH 2217 – YOU COULD END UP IN FRONT OF NCAT WITH HEAVY BIASES IN PLAY. Do not allow initial entry onto anyone's property until proper introductions and "true" purpose have been arranged, especially when there are people with moderate dementia involved. I question the business practices (and ethics) of an organisation that purports a quite honest charter but lacks execution of this charter, particularly for it's social-worker division who do not properly assess the situation of certain home visits. Their related network of peers believe they are impervious to improvements when error of judgement has been made to the elderly and vulnerable members in our community. Hence, I question the culture of this division and by extension the related business practices of the parent org. Sisters of the Little Company of Mary - Who supposedly to carry forward the values of the Catholic faith.

My Father spent a week here in palliative care. Everyone I interacted with was so kind and understanding. All the nurses and Drs were so lovely and made sure Dad was comfortable right up to the end. I cannot speak highly enough of what a great job they all do under such difficult circumstances. Thank you so so much!

I want to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation for the compassionate care your team provided during our home visits. Your team's commitment to making my Dad and our family comfortable and alleviating his pain was truly remarkable. The team's attentiveness, warmth, and kindness during the home visits provided comfort and support to my Dad, my Mum and our family. The home visits by your team allowed my Dad to receive care in the comfort of his own home, which was especially important to him. Your team's attention to every detail, from administering medication to providing emotional support, was exceptional, and it allowed us to focus on spending quality time with my Dad. I would like to extend a special mention to Nurse Kathy Lark and Doctor Vanessa Tung and their teams, who were a constant source of support and care for my Dad during the past months. Their compassion, empathy, and professionalism were extraordinary, and it made a significant difference to my Dad's quality of life, especially during his final days. My Mother and sisters will always remember and appreciate your team’s commitment to providing exceptional care during such a challenging time. You provided my Dad with the care, comfort, and respect he deserved, and we are forever grateful for that. Once again, thank you so much for everything you did for my Dad and our family. Your team's service to the community is truly invaluable, and we are honoured to have been under your care.

I came into Calvary (first floor Rehab) in a wheelchair chair, unable to walk. Today I am checking out and I am walking unaided. The staff were all excellent, kind, caring and thoughtful. The meals were great, the facilities were modern, clean and I feel blessed to have received such wonderful care.

My 87-year-old mum was recently at Calvary for three weeks for rehabilitation following 57 days at St George Hospital. The comparison was stark. She has dementia, does not speak English well and is hard of hearing and seeing. Calvary staff were amazing, caring, patient centered, provided an interpreter at critical points in her journey, provided translated information in the Macedonian language on falls prevention, and when I showed staff the CALD Assist Application on the phone which is a Ministry of Health endorsed app for basic communication in 10 languages, they quickly downloaded it and started using it. I also appreciate the effort they went to accommodate my mums needs at mealtimes. I couldn't speak highly enough of the great care they provided my mum in her hour of need. She commented that this was heaven in comparison to her prior experience.

The palliative Care staff are most caring and comforting. My mother-in-law was treated with respect and compassion of the highest level. I want to give ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, really. The nurses are angels. Thank you for such professionalism.

My mum passed away in 2021 at this hospital. She received amazing care and especially Jane the social worker went above and beyond for us. The reception just wasn’t that nice, they were impatient and not helpful. Went to pick up my mums belongings but they said they weren’t there. Got a call a week later asking why I haven’t picked them up yet Was just a pain because I was pregnant and it was in lockdown. Other than that, I knew my mum was being taken care of

😠 I gave birth here 3 weeks ago. From 2cm to 9cm I contracted in the hallways, waiting rooms (If I wanted to be with my partner) and in the assessment room if I wanted a bed and endone - alone, without a nurse checking in on me or offering any kind of support. My waters broke around 8-9cm, I was given...
