3 hours in so much pain waiting on Sunday gone for the only Dr there and at least 15 waiting too is ridiculous and I’m sure is in contravention of running a decent practice- They make mistakes and don’t seem to care - one Dr neglected a simple fact. But it’s time for us to find somewhere else!!! One receptionist woman is particularly horrible - most don’t seem to care except young Indian? guy who was nice. . I will say Dr Maria Bastas and Dr Sarah are thorough but good luck she can be booked out for a month. The Practice Manager who has been told for years just look at all these comments should be accountable for this and should fix our dismal experiences with Metro Medical and their reception staff who need customer service training desperately

I’ve only had good experiences with a couple of doctors, particularly Dr Sarah. The admin staff are another matter. They are always extremely rude and impatient with patients. They are never able to provide accurate information, and snap when a patient seeks clarification or highlights that previous liaison contradicts what they are telling you. It does not matter how polite and understanding a patient is, they will always act holier than thou and speak rudely. I can see that numerous people have provided this feedback, yet there is no change.

I got turned away this afternoon at 5.15pm because the only Dr in had turned off his computer an hour n 15 mins before closing time and ask to come back in the morning. This medical practice has gotten worse over time. Maybe the Drs n staff should read the reviews and make some improvements to the way they treat patients a and run thier business. Pretty bad to be getting high 1 star ratings.

The only place where the staff always seem to be hiding out the back behind the blue curtain with nothing to do talking and laughing out loud. They also book appointments during dr's lunch break and expect you to wait all that time without no notification what's so ever. I've been waiting an hour and a half already, no-one should be made to wait that long. They need professional help to run this business, and get rid of those people doing nothing all day

My main complaint is that some doctors at this practice are never on time and arrive at least half an hour late. Not only are they always so very late, but then they do not see any patient for another 15 to 30 minutes. They never apologise for being late or delayed. And on top of all that, there is a long gap between patients which means that the doctor sits in their office alone, doing goodness knows what. No wonder I always have to wait hours. I actually feel sorry for the receptionists who have to answer questions about when the doctor will finally arrive and or see a patient. I am surprised that no other reviewers have mentioned this problem of doctors’ lateness and their lack of respect for sick people’s time. I am writing this with the hope that the Owners and Managers of this Medical Centre will read this review and take steps to rectify this problem.

My girlfriend and I went in on a Saturday, not too busy. Saw the young Doctor whose name has slipped my mind, possibly Dr Boey. Great experience, extremely helpful and understanding. Definitely happy.

Staff are rude and unprofessional. I have never seen a gp practice so bad…. How can they even let these places to exist… ? Third world standard or worst. A short consultation will cost you $120 with a doctor who would examine you by looking at you across the table… Medicare reimbursed me $40 outrageous..,

Contrary to Shaun's glowing post below, yes the care and validation is wonderful - when you actually get it. I've been coming to this surgery for over 20 years and, yes, the wait times are mostly horrendous, even if the appt is scheduled, and Medicare bulk-bill appts in Sydney are becoming scarcer by the day, but what I wasn't expecting was this: INT. MEDICAL CENTRE - AFTERNOON Patient (me) walks to reception desk. Receptionist: (smiling) We're closed. Patient: What do you mean? Rcpt: It's Sunday. We close at 2 today. Patient: Oh. Do you always close on Sunday at 2? Rcpt: No. Just today. With only one doctor, she is leaving at 2. Patient scratches head. She is being turned away. Dumbfounded, irritated, she walks back out. Patient is done with this surgery and it shows. * So, basically, you present at 2 on a Sunday (knowing they close at 5) for a simple appt. Door showcases an "OPEN" sign, slides to the left for you to enter, only to be told 'We're closed.' This pretty much sums up this surgery.

I am surprised at so many bad reviews. I called this place the other day and the woman I spoke to was very helpful. I can't fault this place at all.

The hard working, kind people that keep this medical centre running deserve far more credit than they get. I've been a patient of Marrickville Metro Medical Centre for 6 years and I've always felt heard, validated and cared for. The quality of care has always been worth the wait. If you find yourself leaving a poor review or bullying the staff because of the long wait time you're probably the same kind of person that would complain because your consultation was rushed and you expected the doctor to spend more time with you. If you're after a walk in, walk out service with no wait time and a long consultation you should consider goibg somewhere that charges a co-payment, or just keep your misogynistic outbursts to yourself for the benefit of everyone else in the waiting room.

More than 2hours waiting to see a lady dr. I put my name down from 1030am and reception told me there would be only 4-7 waiting and to return after 330pm but more were let in before me. Seems like i was deliberately let almost last in line and im in personal pain. Initially was told to wait from 330.

I have been coming to this medical centre for the last 25 years and have seen great doctors, and not so great doctors come and go. I highly recommend seeing Dr Peter Bletsas, Dr Andrew Chaplin or Dr Maria Bastas. Unfortunately, the wait time for seeing a doctor is on average 1-2 hours. Even if you make an appointment, expect to see a doctor atleast 1 hour after the appointment time. I am giving this a two star review because whilst I have had positive experiences with the three doctors mentioned, I’ve generally had poor experiences with reception staff and wait times. In the past I have seen “first available” doctors, and have been rushed and misdiagnosed. Two years ago I decided to try another medical centre which was a private practice (so not bulk-billed) but the contrast between the two was extreme. I was seen on time, reception went out of their way to accommodate, they were helpful and the doctors were very thorough. If you decide to visit this center, I recommend the doctors above but do not expect to be treated respectfully by the reception staff.

Staff are rude and belligerent to patients . Twice in a row I have come to this awful medical centre . I politely asked how many patients will there by before I’m next in line On both occasions they have said there are 4-5 patents before you. I have waited like an idiot for over an hour and a half before being seen. Today’s visit, I counted 11 patients before I was seen. If I was told the truth , I could have gone shopping during the wait time It’s an unacceptable level of customer service and the rude staff are unapologetic

Saw Dr Schiavuzzi. He called my name and then disappeared down the hallway leaving me to look into doorways to figure out where the hell he went. When I found his doorway he said “what’s the problem” before I could even get into the room. No introduction. He was dismissive and wasn’t listening to me. The only reason I know his name is because I insisted he actually test something and his name was on the form, along with an incorrect description of my ailment. He actually had the gall to say I was wrong when I stated a subjective symptom. Unbelievable. Don’t waste your time.

The receptionist is the most rude person ive ever experienced. Watching her interact with people in the waiting room, it's awful to see. I'm so shocked. The doctors are trying their best.

This pratice slaps existing paitents with a $120 "new paitent" fee if you dont see the doctor often enough. I needed a walk in appointment after I developed severe pain in my ear at work. I called to ask if they had walk in appointments available and they said yes come down. It wasn't until I'd gotten all the way there that they explained there is a "new paitent" fee of $120, on top of the appointment fee. I am an existing paitent, and explained this, however, they said it had been too long since my last appiontment and I needed to pay the fee. I wish they had told me this on the phone when i called, I wouldn't have wasted all that time travelling while in excruciating pain and would have gone to another doctor. I feel like they wait until you're through the door and desperate for help before slapping you with a massive fee that just isn't affordable, and punish people who don't need to see the doctor often. As a generally healthy young person, i will never come back.

Ive only had good experiences here. Yes. The wait times can be a bit long sometimes. But Im sure Drs have a lot of bureaucratic admin to do before, between and after patients. The Dr I see, Dr Boey I think, is a lovely, worldly man who has proven to me he knows his stuff. Busy receptionists have always been fine too. Straight to the point.

Very Happy with the service here, staff are friendly and Dr Boey has been extremely helpful with resolving any issues I’ve presented with. Yes you will have to wait but that is very normal anywhere, try going to emergency!!!

Just went in to try and get a script filled out. Called the day prior and they told me they now charge $120 if you have not visited in the last 2 years, the receptionist told me I "just made the cut" as I was last there 23 months ago. Came into today and was told I would have to pay the $120 as I infact hadn't been there within the 2 years. I told them I had been told different on the phone yesterday, and as soon as I did they became very rude and dismissive, saying "the only way to see a doctor today is to pay $120 or you can go else where but they all charge the same now". I can understand if a mistake was made but they really didn't need to be so rude about it all. Wouldn't go back there now even if they did bulk bill.

Really a bad practice with exception of one really great doctor. The reception staff truly don’t care for your long term health/ short term sufferings. They clearly are not in order to help there 1 star rating with current reception workers, they work in health care they have no sympathy or empathy and it’s really unjust. They really should be dismissed from this position with the countless reviews from so many patients.

The prescription is great. But waiting hours is terrible. If you’re in pain , please don’t come here. You might die out of the pain. The doctors or the staffs never cared about your pain.I waited 2 hours in pain and it wasn’t even crowded! There were only b2 patients before me.

I just noticed that I got overcharged after my visit on Sunday so I called to fix it. “Sabina” the receptionist responded in a very arrogant tone and careless attitude saying that she doesn’t work on the weekends therefore is not her problem and that she doesn’t know how much they charge on weekends 🤦🏻‍♀️ to call tomorrow or another day. She was rude, unprofessional: 0 costumer service.

The receptionists are consistently combative, rude and unpleasant. Just my opinion and my partner and family feels the same. The saving grace is Dr Johnathan Boey. He is competent thoughtful and thorough. Also they’re a bit rich charging $1 for a mask, making money from covid. I would have thought that to be a running cost or a business expense. I am there now and it’s no fun.

This is honestly the worst medical practice I have ever been to. They should be investigated. They are truly unaccommodating and do not care about anyone. Rudest place I have ever been to.

I routinely see Dr Boey here, and he provides excellent care. He's polite, patient, and has always treated me well. I know that a lot of reviews here comment on wait times, but at the end of the day this is a bulk-billing clinic that does not expect you to make appointments. I'll keep coming back.

Awfully run place. I called up for a appointment after finding the mobile number and opening times online showing that this center is open on weekends and evenings. The receptionist very rudely told me they're not open on weekends, and when I asked for an evening appointment for a 9-5 worker I was offered 4.15pm. When I said this wouldn't work for me and if she knew any other later opening medical centres she hung up on me without a word. You're dealing with people coming to you sick, hurt and distressed. That is not the way to treat anyone, let alone those in need. Awful.

Don't go here! This is THE WORST medical centre in Sydney. Hopefully you don't get the cranky receptionist... you'll know if you do because she looks like David Williams about to tell you "Computer says no". The doctors are never there and the wait times allow you to watch a full Avatar movie! Save your time and go to an actual medical centre with doctors!

Rudest experience i have ever had in my life in a doctors surgery. I went to simply talk to a doctor about a couple of things and get a second opinion. I got bullied and rudely asked to explain quickly the moment from walking in the door of the young asian doctor there. I had to change doctor and even he rushed me out but was bit better. They talk quickly as if time is money. Don't go to any other doctor but your regular one people. The reception was the only thing with compassion in this place.

I've been turned away three times now, two hours before closing. Absolutely pathetic especially since I'm in extreme pain, no doctors are now open and I can't get there any earlier. Shame on them.

Rocked up yesterday on a horrible busy Saturday afternoon around 2pm only to see "We are CLOSED at 1pm today" sign (or something to that effect). Disappointed that they have changed closing times in the past, must book/not necessary to book or that there isn't another practice in the Center as they would make a killing.🤫 Otherwise I am generally satisfied with the doctor's there.😊
