Great little park for a workout. 12 station calisthenics circuit that was a lot of fun. Vending machines, water fountain and washrooms on site. Highly recommended if you're a heavily tattooed Gaijin like me and are essentially banned from all gyms.

FREE WORKOUT SPACE WITH PULL-UP BAR. For travelers looking to exercise this is your spot! Forget the overpriced Kyoto gyms, everything in this city adds up in price quickly. Come to this park and get your workout done the old fashion way push-ups, pull-ups, and there is even a tricep dip bar that you can also use for ab work. I will be back for sure! I have found gyms in Japan for as low as 100 yen per visit, so paying the high Kyoto prices for day trips to gyms is more than a pain. The only available places other than the cross fit gym seem to either not allow foreigners, golds gym, or any time fitness. The last two have 2200-2700 yen charges for a single day.

If you’re in the area, would recommend going around the afternoon. Cooler and less crowded

Nice park for a short stroll or if you have smaller children. I often see families with dogs here. The feral cat problem can get literally stinky, but it's not too bad. The sakura can be nice in the spring.

As far as Japanese Parks go this is definitely one of the best.. Lots of places to sit and relax. There are quite a few trees and yes even grass.. ☝🏼

Ate my lunch here shortly after arriving in Kyoto. I was immediately surrounded and cast as the first victim of the next birds movie.

24-hour parks where great conversations are had late.

One of the best parks I could find: Actually enough benches to sit, talk and eat your Konbini-food. Really rare around here. Not too much greenery, so not a paradise, but nice for chilling, drinking and eating with your mates.
