This is one of the best places to eat in Takayama. Their meat selection and quality is amazing with comparable prices to any other local restaurants. Very clean and spacious and I like how you get a buzzer button to push whenever you need help (always had someone come within a minute). English and Japanese work here. This is located 2 minutes from the station and between Tokyo stay and mercure so super convenient. My only warning is that we went 5:30 and had to wait almost an hour but after 7pm there was no lineup. The beef was just excellent. Went there twice on week days. We had the main yakiniku set for 1st night. It's super delicious. Got greedy and added another small order. I think it's too much for 2 pax! The wait on first night was more than an hr bcos we arrived almost at 6.30pm. 2nd night we ordered shabu shabu set. Nice but felt that we've wasted the beautiful beef. Much regretted bcos we cant taste the fatty juicy beef as compared to if it's bbq. We waited for more than half an hr even though we arrived at 5.30pm. A must visit. Just show up early or make a reservation.

You gotta go there earlier before 7, there are quotas for each night's dinner. Once you booked the seats I've been wait for 2 hours for But the price is reasonable and the quality is good

Additionally business was cutoff after customers arrived after 5:25 due to the long queue** Onto the real review — enjoyable experience. Beef was juicy and quite literally melts in your mouth. They have various dining spaces so some of are more private (enclosed) than others. My party of four ordered four platters and we struggled to finish the fourth. I would recommend to plan a second meal and treat this more like an appetizer as the meat is too rich/fatty to eat in large portions. Service wasn’t too spectacular so don’t have high expectations other than to order your meal, receive your food, and pay the bill.

Yakiniku is one of my all-time favourite restaurants to visit in Japan, there’s something about the taste of BBQed food that really ticks all the boxes for me. It was a very cold day and we stopped here for lunch after just arriving in Takayama, the food was delicious, the staff were very attentive as when you want something just ring the bell and they are happy to help you. I cannot fault this restaurant, great food, great staff and great atmosphere, you can even buy wagyu from their onsite shop to take home and enjoy. Love this restaurant.

We came here for dinners two nights in a row and that is how much we love the beef from this place! And it was super convenient as it is right next to our hotel. We tried both Yakiniku and Sukiyaki and they delivered at both times! Beef was super tender and soft with great flavour! Reminder: Come before 4.45pm if you want to come for the first seating. Otherwise, come before 5.30pm for the second seating with minimum 1 hour waiting time. We arrived at around 4.40-45pm on both nights and managed to snatch the last table for the first seating. The service may not be the usual Japan's standard as the staff are super busy which is understandable.

Great lunch. Got the Ajikura servings plus a few more things - for the 4 of us. Loved the soup too! Very filling.

Fantastic experience!the waitress was very helpful since she was speaking a bit of english, that's not usual in Japan. The meat was supreme! The free rice and miso refil was a great deal. Hida meat is as good as Kobe meat.

had to wait about an hour to eat since yakiniku restaurants in the area dont take reservations for dinner. the beef platter was extremely worth (around 10700 yen before tax) with a wide variety of beef! there are pork and chicken options too~ chicken is not that good but pork is worth a try. came in a big group and luckily got a room to ourself. amazing experience!!

Cannot make reservation for tourists and very difficult to get in. 4 years ago I tried visiting at 6pm they were fully booked so I went before 5pm this time. Managed to get a table. Beef was very nice and really good price. We ordered the 10,758 yen set which was just good for two people. I tried another restaurant in Nagoya for the same Hida beef and it was about double the price. Really good quality beef. The large flat steak shape one was the best as other pieces were a bit too fatty. If I were to go again I would just order that flat one rather than the set.

Some of the best beef in Japan at incredible prices. The grill itself is better than other yakiniku joints. Of course the drinks list could be better but who cares; every slice of beef is heaven.

Amazing hida beef! We went here twice for lunch (shorter waiting time). The first time we had yakiniku and the second time we tried sukiyaki. Definitely try to the sukiyaki or Shabu Shabu with premium beef!! The atmosphere is very nice and relaxing.

Though the place was marked as closed, I went there to see if by any chance it was actually open and it certainly was. This was one of the best yakiniku places I've been so far. While not exactly cheap, it is well worth it considering they serve very good hida beef cuts.

Great value! We started with the platter and ordered additional plates on top. Service was fast with (literallly) the push of a button at the table. If Hida beef is what you are looking to get, this is the place. This is our second visit to Takayama and will be returning! We are based in Canada so this says something!

Came here for dinner. We couldnt reserve a table as yous needed to call in advance and when we went to the restaurant in the afternoon to reserve, they said all reservations were full and walkins only for dinner. Came for dinner and queued for around 1-1.5 hours. We ordered the special beef set, some pork, some veg and medium rice each. Everything was cooked by ourselves on a bbq grill. meat was DELICIOUS! Meat was nice and went lovely with rice.

Best Takayama Hida beef for japanese BBQ. We have order a mixed grade beef platter for two. The grease and fat added as the best combination to the japanese steamed rice. Excellent restuarant to dine out with friends and families with a few glasses to enjoy the fatty premium beef.

Best of the best. Hida is still regarded the best wagyu in Japan for a reason, it’s simply delicious. This restaurant is not only specialized in Hida beef but also spot on with service and environment. Price I think is very reasonable for its quality and set up. A must visit if you’re in the area!

We were there before 6pm and was the second last on the wait list. So better come earlier if you want to have the dinner here. We order the platter meant for 2-3 pax. It was more than enough for 3 person, unless you are big eater. The platter has different cuts, all good. You just need simple ingredients to taste the Hida beef... Salt.. and maybe sometimes a little bit of sauce... That's all. Much worth than the one we have for lunch at Maruaki.

Waited 40 minutes, but totally worth it! The local Hida Beef is AMAZING and just melts in your mouth. Fun to cook your own, lots of different combinations of platters to order and service is prompt and efficient when needed. We ended up ordering more - it was so good! The best meal we had on our 12 day trip to Japan was in this restaurant. About 5 minutes walk from the train station and well-worth finding. If you love beef, then this is definitely the place for you. Highly recommended!
