Lovely dinner on a Friday night. Small, intimate venue. The chef and staff all spoke English which was very helpful. Food and atmosphere was wonderful. Staff were very warm and friendly.

Quite good tempura. However, the chef served tempura too fast for the eating pace of my girlfriend, which means some of the pieces were soggy by the time she had them. We get it, we are tourists who have no idea what to order (so we got a set instead of ordering pieces one by one), but the whole point of eating at the bar is that the chef can monitor eating pace and provide the pieces at the right time.

We had a most delicious meal here. We sat at the servery bar where the chef cooked our meal right in front of us. The food was so fresh and tasty. The place to go for a great meal and friendly service. The Layton's Australia

Celebrated my birthday here and loved every bit of it — cozy, super friendly staff and Chef and most importantly, great food! This is tempura done well with its crisp, light batter enveloping all the fresh seafood and vegetables served. We loved the side dishes that came with the set — rice, pickled vegetables and miso soup! 100% recommend for your visit to Takayama.

The best tempura I have had! Wonderful food and service. My favorites were the prawn legs, lotus root, Japanese herb, and eggplant.

We visited this tempura restaurant on a quiet Monday evening and had the counter to ourselves for most of the meal! A really fun experience, with each tempura item being cooked fresh right in front of us and placed on our plates by the chef himself, with a description of what was being served each time. Would recommend one of the set menus, each of which feature a great variety of items, we particularly enjoyed the shrimp and blowfish 🐡 but everything we sampled was oishi. The staff were very welcoming and the service was excellent. It is a small place though so at busy times be prepared to wait.

Do yourself a favour and please go and check this restaurant out. The older gentleman chef did a wonderful job and you can tell that he’s perfected his craft. A beautiful family business with wonderful food ! Best tempura I’ve had and very reasonably priced.

Life changingly delicious tempura dinner at Ebihachi. The chef is charming and clearly a master, and his hostess was so responsive and sweet. Both were able to help us enjoy this meal even more with their English. Absolutely delicious!

Ab absolute experience. A master at work and most delicious tempura I’ve ever had. Everything about this place is A+. Not only we’re the main dishes very tasty, but you can tell the chef puts his heart into all the other details as well, like the perfectly cooked rice and delicious miso soup. Make sure you get a reservation. If the first seating is full, you can try and get into the second one (~7:30).

A small restaurant that serves great tempura, the chef is very friendly and speaks fluent English. We ordered different sets on the menu and they were all really good... recommended if you're visiting Takayama.

This restaurant is a hidden little gem! It’s quite small but the food quality is nothing but the best. I went with my friend and we both ordered the Yuki set menu. It’s Tempura at the next level! The chef is very friendly and can speak a bit of English. He introduced every dish to us when serving them. It’s the best tempura I have ever had 😋

Fantastic tempura. You can order alacarte but I would recommend getting one of the set menus. They range from roughly 1200 - 2500 yen and they're worth it. I also had some really delicious miso soup here.

Randomly pick this restaurant for dinner. We had no idea what it sell until we were here. Nice tempura here including the vegetables, mushroom and shrimp. Also nice chef and waitress 😉
