This store is an amazing piece of architecture, known for its quality coffee and service. I ordered peach juice, which is simply a fresh peach blended with milk. The drink is only available during peach season. On my second visit, I ordered one of their specialty coffees. It came with a walnut and the presentation was nice, but it was a basic cup of good coffee.

The green tea set it a must. You have to try it! They serve a high or premium type of green tea which goves you a new outlook on the aroma and flavors. The barista and bar is cool, it gives a retro/vintage vibes yet very relaxing place.

Right in the heart of old Takayama. We stumbled across it by accident as we were looking for coffee. We ordered kudzukiai set as we’d never seen it on any other menu before. Very unique dessert and I’d recommend it.

The cheese cake is really good but the coffee prices are ridiculous! 700JPY for a cup of coffee! And I tried walnut on the table and it was 100JPY just for 1 piece!! I didn't even know you had to pay for it! The walnut didn't even taste good

Ranka coffee is one of the best Japanese kissaten (Japanese cafe) in whole Takayama. Inside an old "kura" a Japanese storage house from the Edo period. Japanese retro pleasant environment in the middle of the famous Sanmachi-suji road in downtown, a space where you can enjoy moments from other times. Coffee, cakes, traditional sweet and tea. Fair prices, CASH ONLY. Not suited for large groups! The staff is very welcoming and speak English. Menu also in English. Free wifi. Toilet with the very helpful "washlet style" inside the shop. Good coffee with good smell and taste. Especially the blue mountain coffee made with siphon. Cheese cake is also great.

When roaming around the Sammachi area, I was craving a warm drink. Stopped by this place and it was exactly what the doctor ordered! Relaxing aura and great drink. The matcha cappuccino accompanied with a lemon pound cake made for a great sit down treat. The atmosphere was great and I was able to relax and read my book. Definitely drop by if you’re looking for a drink and quick bite.
