Got to use their private bath for free c/o Residence Hotel beside Takayama Station (they’re probably sister hotels). 🧼 Staff was very kind and the entire vibe was quite luxurious for a 3-star hotel. 👍🏼

The room is big and you get all you need. It is clean and comfort. The breakfast is excellent. It is about 10mins walking distance but it is fine for my family as we like to explore Japanese cultural and building structure. Just 5mins walking from/to JR and Bus terminal! Overall this is good hotel and recommended. We love Takayama!

Do not choose this hotel. We reserved a room and confirmed twice by phone [on separate occasions] about needing snow tires to drive from Osaka to Takayama. Because weather is variable, we called 2 days before our departure as well as the day of our departure. Both times the hotel staff assured us that the weather at the time was ok, snow tires were not required on the highway and that we could proceed. About 50 km away from Takayama, the highway police pulled us over [there was no snow or rain] and prohibited us from driving on. We immediately called the hotel to let them know and asked for a refund or a change in our reservation. The receptionist made notes and we were told to call back in the morning to speak to the manager. In the morning the manager refused to refund us, refused to acknowledge that we had called to ask about snow tires and refused to allow us to rebook. Do not reserve here.

5 star experience! Love the in house onsen with private rooms. We booked a 3 bedder room & the space is even good for 4 of us (2 adults + 2 kids). Separate bath & toilet rooms is a big plus too. The kids & wife love the wide spread of buffer breakfast. Oh... Did I mention that they also serve free ice pop just outside the onsen & free smart phone for usage within the city? (Unlimited data & calls) this is definitely one of the best hotel we've stayed in Japan. Thank you!

Rooms were a brilliant size and very clean. The toilet, sink and shower were all separate making sharing for 3 adults easy. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Location wise it was close to the main stations, bus routes and old streets. Restaurants were easy to find and within 10 min walking distance. They also provided onsens and a spa area which were clean.

Wonderful hotel with hot baths (public and private) which was a short walk from the station. The rooms were spacious, amenities were good. I like the fact that they not only offer tea as complimentary drinks but also coffee and hot chocolate. Breakfast was ¥1000 per person, which I definitely recommend. Their breakfast buffet included dishes from both a Japanese as well as Western breakfasts. Their staff were very helpful starting from check in until the very second we left the building.

Affordable, superior all-around travel experience! - Our family of 5 enjoyed super comfy Queen and Triple Rooms during a fabulous 3-night vacation at Wat Hotel & Spa in Takayama! The entirety of our experience...from check-in hospitality to helpful service throughout our stay, from property (NEW) condition to room cleanliness, from rooftop lounge area to shared and private bathing areas, from superior Japanese and Western breakfast buffet to little "extras" and attention to detail...was all way above average! While other properties are looking for ways to cut corners, this one is making constant improvements, earning them their high ranking and making it our 'go-to' choice in this region! We highly recommend this hotel for business trips and individual, couple & family getaways, and will absolutely return the next chance we get!

Good breakfast, big room with 2 beds , separate bath room and toilet, have public and private onsen but very small. Should be better organized to make reservations for the private bath. And they have a welcome drinks area that good .

Amazing stay in December at this hotel. We chose it because it was 9 minutes walk from the station and 15 mins walk to Sanmachi Suji historic district and dekonaru yokocho. It was probably low season because our hotel price per night was $44 for excellent quality. We got the room with 3 beds. There is no body lotion so don’t forget to bring some. The best part of the hotel is the free onsen right next to the lounge on the 7th floor. They have a large public onsen (separate for men and women) and 4 private onsen perfect for couples or families. We went twice in a day and never waited more than 5 minutes. The onsen are outside and small but really cozy and enjoyable experience. They give you a free beer ticket upon check in. We didn’t buy their onsite breakfast but it looked really good.

We love this hotel where the service is fantastic. They have a dedicated English staff for hotel guest that don’t speak Japanese. Very professional. There is parking on site but you pay a fee per day. Location is good and walkable. They have private onsen as well as a general onsen, which my kids love. Very thoughtful on the pyjamas as they cater to even very large size guests. The toilet is clean with good water pressure. The hotel buffet is affordable and a nice spread for my family and kids. They have umbrella if it rain for their hotel guest and please return it after. The room is big and very nice bed and pillow for a good night sleep. We drove so basically we love this hotel in takayama.

Nice room, big for Japan standard. From a nice Indonesian gentleman when we checked in, the ladies at restaurant for breakfast, to friendly cleaning staffs , all the staff are superb. Breakfast is good, tasty and many varieties. Location is great , not at busy main road but a quiet road not far from it. Surprisingly not too pricey.

Walking distance from takayama station, nice public and private Onsen which i really enjoyed. Staff were super friendly and you get free stuff if you decided to go ego and opt out of daily room cleaning. Essentials where there and Wifi is good!

Large comfortable rooms, best beds and night sleep we had the entire trip in Japan and not only in Japan :) Welcoming, helpful staff that will get whatever you need for you True hospitality, and good English spoken. I would definately stay again. Thank you for a great experience!

Excellent hotel in takayama. Great situation in the village and amazing service, with staff that not only speaks a good English but even Spanish! The onsen, both private and public are great. If I can return to takayama this is the only place I will stay.

Hotel with onsen spa in central Takayama. We visited as a couple for two nights. Rooms were nice, with spacious beds and showers. Breakfast was okay, a slightly strange mixture of Japanese and Western breakfast, but unfortunately lacking a lot of the Western staples like scrambled eggs. The breakfast restaurant is also way too small, and gets very crowded. There is both public and private onsen available, and complementary popsicles afterwards. The bar on the top floor is quite nice, and you can buy an all-you-can-drink ticket in reception. The drinks you get from this ticket are basically all the cheapest stuff unfortunately, but I suppose that's to be expected for the price.

Super neat and pretty hotel located in the heart of Takayama City! Rooms were spotless and elegant! Great location if you plan on visiting nearby attractions such as Shirakawo-Go or Hida Furukawa station! Facilities such as the public showers were nice as well! Be warned though, the employees have limited English proficiency so bring a good translation app! However, the workers worked very hard to ensure we had an awesome stay!

Slightly dated hotel but rooms are big and there’s a nice indoor and outdoor rooftop area with views of the mountains. There is a welcome drink and small gift if you don’t have your room cleaned. Good onsen with both indoor, outdoor and private family baths and post-soak ice blocks. The breakfast is a big buffet with some tasty local dishes. Breakfast can get very busy so go early.

Our first impression after walking from train station is that they are “stingy.” They have drinks available in the lobby - orange juice, coffee, etc. but you must have a ticket and only allowed one on your first day only - really odd. We arrived 10 minutes before check in and they made us wait until check in time exactly. Okay - understand - but seemed a bit extreme rule following. Staff not incredibly friendly - just following rules. Rooms small, towels nonexistent. Location just okay - I would stay some place else

The hotel lobby has changed since I last went here two years ago. The onsen will be packed with tourists. So if you want to use it. Get it early or just have to wait. Overall the hotel is good for the price point. Close to what you need to do and see in the local area.

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff, very nice rooms and a good breakfast! What we also liked were the private onsen which you could use. On top of that, which may seem like a small thing, but we really appreciated finally to have toiletpaper which wasn't as thin as cigarette rolling paper!

Great hotel. Rooms were spacious for a family of 4 with younger children. Private onsen is a first come first serve for those with tattoos but the wait is very short from what I could tell. Private onsen tub was small but being a 250 male I could fit in it just fine. I would book this hotel again if I am in the area. Short walking distance to the touristy area and an awesome hotel.

One of our best stays in Japan. Offers private family onsen. Central to main attractions and transportation. Make sure to visit Hida Folk Village. Free lounge area. Super comfy bed. Separate toilet.

Excellent value. Short, flat, 6 min stroll from Takayama station. However, it can be challenging for older folks with suitcases if snowing. Clean, relatively spacious, shared / private spa, tasty Japanese / western buffet breakfast, plastic containers to take away, free drink voucher, robes, toothbrushes, slippers etc.

I highly recommend this hotel if you visit Takayama. The hot spring baths on the roof are a must! Clothing is not allowed in the bath but they have private baths if you're not comfortable around others. The staff was wonderful! The breakfast is buffet style and the options are really good. There is a lounge on the top floor for adults that offers all you can drink for $1300 yen (~$10).

Will recommend to anyone who is coming to Takayama for holiday! Great spa, public indoor and outdoor spa and family spa rooms also available on site. Situated on very convenient location, close to tourists attractions and walking distant to most of the amenities, restaurants, cafes, supermarket. Parking is also available onsite for those who drive there. Attached photo and video are view from my room.

We were staying at a partnering hotel and they sent us to the Onsen at the Wat Hotel. This was a great experience. The Onsen was really hot!

This hotel is slightly further out than other hotels that are right next to the station but it only takes less than 10 minutes to walk to this hotel from the bus station. Newish hotel and rooms are REALLY big and spacious. Bottled water and tea is provided in each room and they have usb charging. Bathrooms are nice with amneties provided in the rooms. I really liked the bath sponges they provide you! When we arrived, we got given vouchers for a welcome drink and breakfast vouchers. Welcome drink was a cup of beer or juice which you take yourself in the lobby and put the voucher into a box once youve taken your drink. This was only available until 9pm. Breakfast was great! it was buffet style and they had a large assortment that I liked. No microwave or water/ice machines I think. They had an onsen on top floor along with a bar. Throughout the afternoon and early evening, the bar is open for use (no alcohol served) and they have green tea available. The onsen was pretty large. they had a male bath, female bath and 4 private onsens for you to use for free for some privacy. Outside the onsen area, they had vending machines for you to purchase drinks and a fridge filled with free ice lollies. Towels must be brought from your rooms. Pyjamas available in rooms.

This is the absolute best place to stay in Takayama. so close to old town and the new part of town and 7 minute walk from the train station. Staff was very pleasant to work with. there is an American working there so english is not an issue. Private onsen was perfect and the breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this place to any and all traveler

Unique luxury hotel just walking distance from station. Offers free parking, an excellent outside bath, special private outside bath for families, wonderful club lounge SORA, laundry and lot of facilities for a very normal price. It’s a new building, was built in 2019.

Loved this hotel! :) We had a great stay. The room was spacious and super comfortable. We enjoyed the family bath on the 7th floor! Breakfast buffet organized by time slots to avoid all people dining at the same time. Staff was lovely. Definitely recommend this place to friends and family for future stays in Takayama.
